Now we're talking tacos. Oh yes! Real Mexican food. Although if I was going to get "technical" I asked one of their attendants if they had "tacos al pastor" she said "no, only real Mexican tacos".....hrmm...... But that could be only a matter of where in Mexico she is from or familiar with....Other reviews said they do serve "Tacos Al Pastor". But anyhoo...Really good Mexican food. Guess what? they do not put cheese on everything like the Tex-Mex food so many restaurants try to sell as Mexican food do and they give you corn tortillas not flour. Thank you. :) I walked in there. Wanted a real Mexican caldo de pollo. They said they also had "caldo de res" and other "caldos" (soups). So I ordered "Caldo De Res" (Beef Soup"). It was sooo good!! They do not have a lot of sitting space. So do not over crowd it please. If you see me scoot over. :)) After I looked around at their products. I found a "Dulce De Leche". Soo yummy. Loaded with sugar yes. But not bad if you only eat it once in a while! Esto es Mexico. youtube.com/watch?v=o2wG…

When you read or hear of the little mom and pop type of restaurant that deserves the recognition and the talk of the town. Well, This little place located at the end of a tiny strip has many flavors! With it's traditional Mexican / Latina store, you will find many and hard to find authentic Mexican and Latin groceries and candy items. Plus, this Taqueria has some very authentic delicious tacos! I ordered my favorite taco flavors of "Taco al Pastor." Delicious marinated sliced and chopped pork wrapped in two or three small soft tortillas, on top chopped grilled onions, cilantro, cumin, chopped thin chili and a few squirts of lime all in it. Served aside with green chili sauce.

Good food, good price. Certain tacos have certain prices. All ranging from a $1 to $1.89. They offer soups and other things also. Service was a little slow. I placed an order around 12:00pm for pick up at 12:30pm. I got there kinda late, around 12:45. When I told the lady I was there to pick up my order, she said they hadn't even started on it. I sat around for about an additional 20 mins waiting. It seems walk-ins take priority over pick ups. You're better off going there and ordering! Then again I went on a Friday. Another negative is, they have no menu. I had their agua de orchata (Mexican Rice Water), I'd say "Meh". It was alright but I've had way better.

Wow ... "7 stars" for a Mexi-Mart?...Who knew in SRQ? +1 for cleanliness +2 for great prices +1 for ambiance (hey, it's a Mexi-mart, OK???) +1 for menu selection +2 for tasty food, authenticity and quality +0 for service (ordering might be tricky for non-Spanish speakers, food prep takes a while)

Very tasty and authentic tacos! The chorizo and barbacoa tacos were particularly good! Decent seating area adjacent to a small hispanic market. Very nice and friendly people working there. I highly recommend this place for authentic flavors!

I used to love getting my tacos here until I tried calling them to see what time they close. The first time they just left the phone on and had me on the other line for 5 minutes when I called back I asked again "hi what time do you close?" The lady answered "no Engles" and hung up the phone on me. Rude??..

More often than not, if you walk into a Mexican grocery store in the Tampa area you'll find a taqueria serving up authentic Mexican fare. And in Sarasota, La Sabrosita is a good example. It's located in a nondescript strip plaza and looks very small from the outside. But once inside to the left you'll find a fairly large, well-stocked Mexican grocery with a full butcher shop and small produce section. There are about 7-8 short aisles packed with a wide selection, with one reserved for specialty items from Brazil, Argentina, Peru, Columbia, and Venezuela neatly sectioned off. I'm sure anyone looking for a taste from home appreciates being able to find even just a few items so quickly. But if you're interested in tacos, etc, just head straight through the front door to the back and you'll find the taqueria section with seating for ~10, and the order counter. The menu options are very basic, the staff quickly took my order for carnitas (pork) and carne asada (steak) tacos, and both were cooked up on a flat grill top and delivered in a few minutes with the standard corn tortilla, cilatro, onion and salsa. First off, these tacos are huge! Compared with the tacos I usually find where I live (Pinellas county), these are easily twice as large. And at $1.59 each, they're actually cheaper than the $1.75-2.00 usually charged there. The flavor of the carnitas was good, while the steak was excellent....in fact, one of the best steak tacos I've had in the Tampa area. And of course, great enough to order another one! The only negative in any of the flavors was the salsa which was extremely hot and overpowered any flavor it might have had...and in turn, the heat easily masked the great tasting meat in both kinds of tacos. If the salsa had been less hot with more flavor, the steak taco would been 5 stars alone. But as it was, there was plenty of moist steak flavor without salsa. Before leaving, I took another quick look through the grocery section for anything to take home. Mirroring the aisle with items from South America, the beer coolers contained two South American brews, Cusqueña (a premium malt lager from Peru) and Quilmes (billed as "Argentina's favorite beer"). I've never seen these in Mexican grocery stores around Tampa and decided to bring them home to enjoy when making Mexican in my kitchen. The Quilmes was fairly ordinary, but the Cusqueña was much better. If you're looking for an authentic taste of Mexican fare, La Sabrosita is a good choice. My scores on the Tampa area taqeuria scale are: Atmosphere: 3 Service: 4 Food: 4 Value: 5

The tacos were great. I had steak tacos and the cook took the fresh meat and put it on the grill. It also has a selection of Mexican groceries. I had 4 steak tacos for $9.50 including tax. The store is in a small strip plaza and you have to keep an eye out for it. Totally worth a lunch stop!

Another Sarasota hole-in-the -wall Mexican that gets it right. What is it? Are all the good authentic Mexican restos in Sarasota now? . I happened in here upon randomly seeing them on the road while driving. Credit to me that I took a chance and stopped in there for lunch to go. The tacos al pastor and also with carnitas were really good, along with the gorditas con lengua. I came back two days later for some more gorditas and a torta. The torta was especially good, with its thick spread of beans, goodly layer of avocado and Mexican cheese and all the lettuce and wonderfully ripe Florida tomato. The gorditas can best be described as "stick- to-your-ribs". If you want a meal in itself, get the Torta Milaneza (Mexican fried meat sandwich), It's gigantic and only $5.75. The guy at the counter is as nice as he can be, and the head chef, the one with the red chef's cap is really an artist who could only be appreciated in a place like this. This is DEFINITELY a place to head to whenever you find yourself in Sarasota and are looking for good, inexpensive AUTHENTIC Mexican take-out.

I don't pretend to be an expert on authentic Mexican cuisine. All I know is that that woman who took my order was very friendly, the chicken torta I had was delicious, and the RMT music videos on the TV were very entertaining. I would highly recommend this place if you're in the mood for some quick, delicious, and affordable Mexican food.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
