And there are plenty of alcohol and beer selections, including craft beers courtesy of JJ Taylor and Gold Coast Eagle. Happy hour all day 2 for 1. Half price burger on Monday. I love their salads all the food is super fresh and dishes are home made and not prepackaged big portions and friendly staff casual dining there are several of these restaurants in the area and they serve the same good food

This is my place. Given the opportunity it is typically my first choice whenever I need to eat out. First the food is amazing. You wouldn't think a neighborhood restaurant would so consistently have such outstanding food. Everything on the menu is excellent and I have long believed they have a gourmet chef chained in the kitchen using his talents to make me a chicken sandwich. By the way. Get the Ultimate Chicken Sandwich Blackened and you will leave full and happy. Don't avoid the specials menu. At this location the specials are typically just that, Special! They create some fantastic dishes that get overlooked in favor of the great things already on the menu. They use only locally grown produce which is a huge plus for me and they try to use locally produced meats as well. The staff is for the most part outstanding. Request Leslie, Lee, or Brandi if you want perfect service with charm and humor. The management cares about what comes out of the kitchen everytime. They will work to make things right if they go wrong. An event which rarely happens. They have the best fries in Sarasota and they make their own potato chips which are also a big winner for me. The prices are reasonable and I think very fair for the sheer quantity and quality of food you get. They have a weekly trivia night which is a big hit for locals but I try to avoid it because it gets a bit noisier than I care for. They show every sporting event which makes it a great place for college and pro sports fans. All in all I love this place. I used to live walking distance away but I still happily drive 20 minutes several times a month to go enjoy my time there. In season there can be a longer wait because the secret is out but they try to take good care of locals so it is worth it.

Gecko's is the quintessential 3 star restaurant. You go there, you have a decent meal, and you leave forgetting all about it. I've never had more than a 3 star meal here, though I have had a 2 star meal once or twice. The service is good - staff is friendly - the portions are big, they have a lot of TV's for sports, and the menu is diverse. But the food never makes you jump for joy. Its just okay. This time it was 4 of us. While I will sometimes try something new, I almost always get their chicken sandwich, blackened with bacon. Its a good chicken sandwich - I don't mean to imply above that the food isn't good - it just isn't fantastic. It's never something where you'll think, "I could really go for a Gecko's _______." Their fries are okay, but again, just okay. Gecko's is basically an old reliable stand-in. When you can't decide where to go, but don't feel like cooking, and want a cheap meal, Gecko's works. You won't dislike the food, and you won't spend a lot of money. You'll leave full, but not necessarily satisfied like you would at a 4 or 5 star place. I guess if you want a place to get some big portions, a beer or two, and watch a game, Gecko's certainly works. It's a fun atmosphere with good service, lots of TVs and again, large and inexpensive portions. But if you're looking for a place to get some really good food, then try somewhere else. By the way, anyone giving this place 4 or 5 stars needs to find a mirror, stare into it for a good 45-60 seconds, and then slap themselves across the face. Twice if you went 5 stars.

What I thought would be a second rate Applebee's actually turned out to be pretty tasty. Good variety of healthy foods, savory foods and indulgences on the menu and a pretty even consistency in quality every time I've been there. Would return again and again.

Always Great. Very good Caesar Salad with blackened chicken. Their Ultimate Chicken sandwich is also terrific. Carol likes the burgers. Mike the manager is over the top helpful. The service is the best. We recommend them highly.

Don't love the lack of consistency with to go orders but love the food. Bang bang shrimp tacos and chips are great. Balsamic blue cheese chips are pretty good as well.

Went to an event at Gecko's signature room. The room was comfortable and well lit. The food served was delicious and the sweet ice tea yummy. The barbeque chicken dip and pigs in a blanket were great and the crisp pita chips were delicious. Great service. I liked that this room had its own bathroom and wifi and the screen was modern.

This place is great when I'm in town on business. quick service and good food with quite the variety. Clean spot to and close to dealership row where I spend my Sarasota work hours. Their menu is quite the variety --- something for all tastes and their salads are very good and the service is dang quick for a place that size.

One of the best happy hours! Drinks are 2 for $5.00 and the appetizers are always fresh and delicious! I love the flatbreads and the nachos are enough for at least 2-4 people. Great service and the staff is awesome!

One of my favorite local eats here in Sarasota! The staff treats me like I'm family, and I'm greeted by name. The Boom Boom shrimp tacos are my personal favorite, and who doesn't love 2-for-1 drink specials all day every day?!

Good: open late, bad - too noisy and short menu, what is probably typical for most pubs. Saratoga bottled water is not good tasting - would not order it again. Ribs are not bad and a large portion - enough for two people to share.

Been to Gecko's many times through the years and haven't been disappointed but yesterday when we went, service was so-so and the burgers were all underdone. Very, very disappointed. To top it off, we had to wait almost a 1/2 hour for the waiter to even take our order. He was busy chatting it up with another table. Finally, when the food came all the burgers were underdone. When they brought the burgers all back, one was still under cooked. We had been there so long we didn't send it back. There is definitely no consistency in the kitchen. Wish they would hire someone who could at least cook a burger medium well and not have them come out 3 different ways - except medium well.

The menu is the same but seems like there is no consistency in the kitchen. I regularly get the blackened chicken Caesar wrap and the chicken breast is nicely sliced. On this visit, the whole chunky chicken breast was in the wrapped not sliced. Needless to say, the wrap fell apart in my hands. Not enjoyable at all. The chips were excellent. A little disappointed with the service too. We ordered a soup and it came seconds before the dinner. Had to ask for the soup too. Seems like servers are constantly changing too. Guess it will be awhile before we go again.

Have been to various Gecko's locations many times including this store. Always found their food in general to be good - not great but average, and at a reasonable price point; you get what you pay for along with attentive and friendly service. There is some creativity on the menu and some items do occasionally hit a high point. However a recent busy Saturday night with six of us had a few bumps in the road. Drink service was quick, but delivery of the food took forever and once it arrived nothing was hot. I guess that indicates the kitchen performed to some extent but the food sat for quite awhile too. Seems the server is assisted by a food runner rather than delivery by runner alone, at least on this night. A friend did have an issue with receiving something completely different than he thought he ordered and discussed it with our server. To her credit, unprompted, she did send over a manager. Our friend ordered a "Pub Steak" and ended up with a "Tuna Steak". Somebody misspoke or mis-heard. Not sure if the manager offered to change it or not. Not wanting to "make waves" It was settled by our friend eating what he was served. Lastly I was swayed by the menu notation of "Voted Best in Sarasota" for the Gecko Burger, described as "smothered in chili and cheddar cheese and topped with onion rings." If the "voted best" is from the Sarasota Herald Tribune I should have known better. That's the customer poll that for many years selected Red Lobster as best seafood, and a pizza chain (Domino's or Pizza Hut) as best pizza. Thankfully the food scene here has improved through the years. But I digress... That "smothered burger" had a tablespoon of chili with a slice of melted cheese on top to keep the small amount of tasteless chili in place, and topped with one onion ring. And why do burger places ask how you want it cooked if 98% of the time they come out well done? I ate it and it was okay but I will withhold my "best of..." vote. Gecko's is usually dependable, but that Saturday night they didn't shine, however we will be back.

I've been here a bunch. It's your average sports bar, large screen and lots of smaller tvs to watch the game. I usually sit at the bar (which has better service than the tables when it's busy) and the happy hour is good. 2 for 1 wells and surprisingly the wells marg is just as good as the high end one. Whatever mix they use tastes fresh and not like some sugary sour premade mix. I also really like their wings. The citrus bbq wings are very tasty and they are pretty jumbo size. Otherwise I usually order the portabello wrap. The only issue with this wrap is that it gets very soggy and a lot of liquid drips out of it...I mean A LOT. It tastes great but at the end my fries are swimming and I've gotten mushroom juice all over myself. Otherwise this place is awesome and the trivia is super fun!

Been there twice the last 2 days. Typical pub food , sports bar fare. Day one I had the shrimp pizza. Was very delicious better than I expected a large quantity for a meal. The ingredients were interesting and went well together. Today I had the tuna nachos. They were rare tuna on a wonton chip with wasabi cream. Very yummy. Even though it was an appetizer it was plenty big enough for lunch. Good selection of beer and cocktails. Service was friendly and efficient. Will go again and try something else

Very fast, friendly and large portions. You can easily split a meal here for two. They always have the best specials. My only complaint would be that the air conditioning in here is bordering on the same level as the Alaskan winters. Please make it not so cold in here!

Worst chimichanga I've ever been served, I can't say eaten as it wasn't edible. Gecko's is a good place to go to watch sporting events and have a drink.

My husband and I like going to Gecko's for its casual atmosphere, friendly service, reasonable prices and consistent food quality. It's not gourmet food, mind you, but decent pub fare: burgers, nachos, sandwiches and a smattering of dinner and salad entrees. One of the best things on the menu is the blackened chicken--their specialty. You can get it in sandwich form or atop any of their large-portioned salads. It's consistently moist with pleasing spicy kick. One thing we've noticed in the past year is that portions are significantly smaller. The chicken sandwich used to be a giant breast (both sides of the breast, that is) that spread the width of the plate. Now, it's half a small breast. (It was great for my husband b/c he's a bodybuilder and eats massive quantities of food.) Salads and nacho dishes have also shrunk. Yeah, I know prices have gone up all over, but I'd have rather seen their prices go up then the portions shrink. That doesn't stop us from going....and we also love that Gecko's uses local produce and is open/serves food late: midnight weekdays and 1 a.m. weekends. Note: prepare for a noisy sports bar, which may or may not have loud club music or live trivia, depending on the night; however, sitting in the back booths reduces the noise.

The homemade potato chips are the best! I will never pass up a chance to have them. The Mediterranean salad and boom-boom tacos are favorites. The food here is consistent and we always know we will have a good meal here. Bar area is nice and always a good crowd when we go. It's good for what it is sports bar food. Good for groups.

Food is consistently good. I do takeout 99% of the time. If you don't get Rachel (the take out master) you will get home and find your order all jacked up. It will be missing everything important. I.E, if you order a French Dip. You won't get the AuJus. Order the soft taco's....no sour cream and salsa. So simply put, No Rachel=No Bueno, CHECK EVERYTHING BEFORE YOU LEAVE.

They have really great food. And really awful service. If you're in the BFF club your drinks don't run empty. But I've went there a few times and almost need an air horn to get refills.... Or order dessert. But the food is great.

We tried Gecko's for the first time yesterday and liked it so much that we went back today. Yesterday my wife had the salmon dinner (blackened) & I had Gecko's super salad with yellowfin tuna plus we started with the meatball sliders. What a fantastic dinner. Today she had the pesto chicken melt & I had a Saint Patrick's Day platter with corned beef, cabbage, boiled potatoes, Irish stew & shepherds pie....what a beautiful dish it was! Anytime we are back in town we will go there again.
