Every time we come to Sarasota from MN, one of my family's "must-go-to" spots is 4&20. Each of us has our favorite thing to get(Cornish for my 11 yo, cheers and onion for my 16 yo etc). Besides the very tasty quick bites, it is beyond welcoming. We will be eating in and taking some to go again soon.

I've never had British food before, but I have to say that the Pasties I had here were high quality, and well prepared! I had the Cornish pasties and the wife had the chicken tikka pastie and both were delicious!! The proprietor was like some throwback to a bygone age when people took pride in the product that they served guests. The atmosphere was great the friendly owner was on our side of the counter the whole time we were eating telling us the history of the British Pastie. He also had a great British accent that reminded me of an old cartoon I used to watch as a child called Dr. Snuggle. Bravo to this place!!! Go here for a great authentic Cornish experience!!!

This was my first time trying pasties and I loved it. I had the sherpard's pie while I was there and bought 3 to take home (chicken tikka masala, curry beef, & jamaican spicy beef). It was easy to bake in the oven and they tasted fresh.

Came here for the sausage rolls and was not disappointed. I've no idea if they were authentic or not-- quite sure my last 'authentic' sausage roll was eaten at least a decade ago. Still, I was glad to eat both of them when my husband turned up his nose at their strangeness. Delicious, flaky pastry + juicy pork sausage = exactly what I wanted.

After reading the owners response to our previous review my British friend returned last weekend. He noted that the owner referred to positive reviews but these are not by British clients who have been treated to proper British pasties/pies. A British pasty is FULL of filling, the pastry attaches to the filling all the way, thereby not having space between the filling and the pastry and not making the pasty look larger than it really is. We ate the pasties in the car outside, fresh from the bakery, no need to re-heat - they were not filling, we could have eaten another one each. My British friend tells me that these are not authentic - more pastry than pie and therefore, probably overpriced.

Every so often I need a good British banger or a good steak and kidney pastie. So it's off to 4 & 20. Their pork banger come wrapped in a flakey pastry shell so what ever you do don't try to eat this bit of British breakfast in your car unless you enjoy see pastry bits flying through the air. It will stay hot until you get it home. But for lunch and dinner appetites try any of the variety of available pasties including steak, onion, potato, and rutabaga; or tuscan chicken; chicken tikka masala; shepherd's pie; or roast pork and stuffin. They also have desert pasties with Aunt Betty's Apple being a favorite of mine. I was happy when I found this place. When first married, my wife made me wonderful steak and kidney pies. However with time the stink of cutting up the kidneys put love on the back burner. They do stink, But now whenever the mood hits, I'm off to 4 &20. So if you are a fan of real British grub then this is your place.
