Best sushi in Seminole County and top 3 in the Orlando area. Very inventive fusion rolls. Some favorites are the Maru Signature, Heathrow, Fiesta and Wild Tiger rolls. Their rock shrimp hibachi uses sushi grade shrimp. Usually get take out once per week, and it seems more people are finding out our little secret.

Wow! To think I've been going to Amura's for the past year without knowing this little joint was this close... So about Maru, the rolls were fresh, tasty and amazing quality for the price. Looking at the roll list, I was impressed by their out of the box approach with the use of jalapeno's, asparagus to name a couple and to be honest, could have spent $$$ ordering more but didn't . Check it out, you will not be disappointed.

Wow I just discovered an amazing sushi place hidden in a strip mall in Sanford. In Lake Mary normally we go to Amura, but this place had a great selection of Korean food as well as fresh amazing sushi. We went for lunch and had 4 amazing roles. We tried the KISSME withcrab, smoked salmon, avocado, cream cheese tempura fried topped with sweet potato salad and eel, sweet chili sauce, The FUSION SASHIMIA rice-less roll; crab, avocado, tuna, white fish, salmon, yellowtail, cream cheese wrapped in cucumber, and the SUPER CRAZYegg custard, crab, avocado, cucumber, salmon skin, eel topped with masago, wasabi tobiko, togarashi and eel sauce and then my standard The Rainbow Roll and every thing was great. With lunch we got a choice miso or onion soup and a salad. This is a nonsense place in a strip mall, but the sushi is fantastic. I look forward to trying the some of the Korean options and the rest of the rolls.
(5)Matt K.
Very clean, fresh, and inventive. The usual rolls are offered beside some unique recipes. Try the American Dream roll, adding bacon and BBQ sauce to the usual crab and asparagus. Menu offers a range of other Japanese and Korean entrees for the non-sushi diners in your group.
(5)David R.
Wow! Best Sushi I've had in a long time. Cosmo, Castaway and Spicy Tuna. Want to go back tonight!
(5)Robb B.
This place was a pleasant surprise! We found it via yelp while looking for a sushi place which was open on Sunday for lunch (hard to find in itself). We had 2 salads and 4 rolls between us and walked out at about $25. The service was good and the food was delicious. I would definitely swing by again while in FL.
(5)Gayathri V.
Best sushi ever..friendly owner, i'm pretty much a regular now sat/sun afternoon...usually get the signature roll with soup and salad for lunch. The Wild tiger sushi is my favorite..The udon soup's good too....top notch food and service every time....
(5)Mitchell F.
By far the best sushi I have had in Seminole County. I was kind of afraid of eating in Sanford. Every time I do, it's not a pleasant experience. This family owned and run Sushi place is great though. The server, though not family, was friendly and attentive, and actually followed directions. When I asked her to give me 15 minutes then come back for another order...17 minutes later, PRESTO! there she was. Now for the food: Sushi - Very reasonable prices, great quality, nice presentation, and portion sizes are very good. I can usually eat 3 or 4 rolls along with a steak at Fishbones, but after 2 rolls here i was full. Korean food items: I had the Bibimbop. It was ok. Overall it was cooked well and the portion was great. My issue was with 2 things. Initially it had a bitter aftertaste, however this was cured when I pouring all the accompanying hot sauce in. Then the flavor was very traditional(I know this because my wife is Korean). The other item is the meat in it was ground beef. Now that's a no no. I did not like the texture at all. I asked the server and she assured me the Bulgogi was made with meat chunks as is customary so I think the other Korean items may not have the ground beef issues. I had the lunch special 2 rolls, soup and salad 9 bucks. Do not get it for the soup or salad. The onion soup is just broth with chives in it and the salad is just a bowl of iceberg lettuce swimming in dressing. But again for sushi the 9 buck for 2 rolls was a bargain! I give it 5 stars based on the sushi because that's what the name says and it's awesome!
(5)Jennifer N.
BEST SUSHI RESTAURANT YOU WILL EVER FIND IN SANFORD, FLORIDA! not only is the sushi fresh and made from a chef with full of experience his wife makes wonderful homemade korean dishes! i would recommend the bibimbap! but seriously everything from the hibachi to the udon is SUPER DELISH! they also have awesome lunch specials! go check it out! you will not be disappointed (:
(5)Ashley M.
This is the place to go for Sushi and worth the drive from Altamonte/Lake Mary/Heathrow. Clean and always fresh. They have great deals at lunch + usually have one or two discounted rolls during dinner hours. The biggest plus is they have bibibap when you need a Korean fix. I wish they had more Korean options! Definitely give it a try!
(5)Gary H.
I love this place. I've been there multiple times, never had one complaint.
(5)JoAnn T.
Again this isn't at all my type of food but my granddaughter loves it. She was very happy nana took her here. That makes it worth it. Enjoy.
(3)J P.
A friend and I were looking for a japanese restaurant one night while in Sanford. We found this place behind our hotel located at the North Mall Entrance Rd. The food did not disappoint. The sashimi was so fresh and it just melted in my mouth. The service was very good and the Sushi Chef behind the counter was very friendly and so was our waiter. I will definitely go back when I'm in Sanford area again.
(5)Teresa S.
Can not complain at all. High grade sushi, high grade service. Had to yelp as I sit here with my katsu fish! It might even be a double visit this weekend!
(5)Scott R.
I just want to say I went here with low expectations thinking it was another run of the mill restaurant. OMG! Was I wrong. Just go and see for yourself. If you love sushi you will love Maru Sushi Grill. I had the Maru Signature roll. An explosion of flavor s created from the sauces and garnishes.
(4)Alan C.
I came into lunch and had the "Hibachi Beef." Essentially, a teriyaki grilled beef with assorted grilled vegetables and rice (However, it wasn't drenched in any sweet sauces, which is good). The portion (both beef and vegetables) was great for the price, everything was fresh and well seasoned. Nothing was overcooked, even the rice was of good quality (not the cheap mushy rice found in some other places). The restaurant is very clean and vibrant, the waitress was very friendly and made sure everything came out right and cooked to order. Overall great, I will return to try dinner and sushi sometime.
(5)Shane V.
The service is good. Sushi is good. Nice selection. If you're in the area of the mall in Sanford and wanting Sushi, I would recommend it.
(4)Tracie W.
Great sushi restaurant tucked away in a strip plaza near the Seminole Town Center mall. Discovered it on Yelp; otherwise, would never have known it was around. The sushi was fresh. I am vegetarian and had the veggie sushi rolls. My friends liked their sushi rolls. Great presentation. Slightly more expensive compared to some other restaurants in town but just as good. The sushi specials are a deal. Definitely worth a stop.
(4)William T.
First and foremost the food was beautiful, fresh, and awesome tasting. I pulled up and they were closed. When they saw me they opened up, turned on the lights, as well as music. They made my food were very friendly and included some samplings of soups, salad, and spicy tuna with onions and carrots. These days good people doing good things and doing that lil extra is very rare. Tonight they earned a customer for life.
(5)Sunshine A.
I'm from Hawaii & know good sushi when I find it! Ive been here about 5 times & loved every visit. Its not very crowded as I don't believe a lot of people see it since its hiding on the corner of a little plaza by the Seminole town center mall. This place is the best sushi spot in this area. The staff are very friendly & welcoming. The food is very tasty & most importantly FRESH! The facility is clean & well kept. I highly recommend this place to all you sushi lovers! I'll be going back for sure!
(5)Geralyne G.
On the way to the airport after visiting Savannah and Charleston, ate lunch here and the sushi roll was as good as any that I've had in the San Francisco Bay Area. Will try the Korean dishes next time.
(4)Paul A.
I've had sushi from LA to NYC, and the rolls and nigiri here are excellent. Some very unique rolls to choose from, and the server was fantastic. Highly recommend this place if you are in the area.
(5)Joseph T.
Way better than average sushi. Maru signature roll was almost perfect. This may sound wacky, but The tuna pieces in the were just a bit too cold - the fish flavor came through better as the roll got slightly warmer. Good service. Casual decor.
(4)jason r.
We saw the great reviews online and decided to try Maru versus some of the other local Japanese standards. Maru has excellent, fresh and tasty Japanese fare at a perfect affordable price. The portions are great form the money. Everyone loved what they ordered and the clean plates afterward showed that. It is a small quaint plain with good service and quiet atmosphere for dinner. No frills and find dining but the food is at that level. The menu is great and full with a great sake selection as well. Maru is our new local standard for Japanese. No longer do we need to be robbed by Amura for overpriced and mediocre food! Thank you Maru!
(5)Jonathan N.
Good to have in the area for a quick bit of sushi. Nothing special.
(3)Hockey D.
What a wonderful find!! Super yummy sushi served by a friendly and attentive staff. Will definitely be back!!

Maru Sushi and Grill is located in Sanford, off of SR46 in the plaza beside the Town Center Mall with the Joann Etc and Tuesday Morning. I grabbed sushi to go for a friend and I, I ordered the meals via phone at the start of the lunch rush. The ordering process was quick and our meals were accurate upon pick up. I ordered the following two lunch specials to go: Lunch special: PICK 2 ROLLS, with soup and salad for $9. I received the salad and ordered the Miso soup. The Spicy Tuna rolls had fresh tuna, cucumber, spicy mayo and sprinkled with crunch flakes. The Tempura Shrimp Roll had tempura fried shrimp, avocado, spicy mayo with crunch flakes. Lunch Special: SPECIALTY/ SIGNATURE ROLL with soup and salad, the price varies based on roll- I ordered the DAYTONA , the combo was priced at $10, I received the salad and ordered Onion soup for my friend. The Daytona roll has spicy tuna, avocado, cucumber, veggie mix topped with crab salad, sesame, wasabi aioli, eel sauce and is topped with wasabi tobiko. The sushi was very good, nice sauce flavors and all of the rolls were fresh and well made. The Spicy Tuna was not very spicy, so request it hotter if you prefer your "spicy" to pack some heat. The lunch specials were very filling and at a great price! They announce the daily specials and Happy Hour deals on Facebook and Twitter.
(4)Frances F.
Wish Maru wasn't so far away! I love the daily sushi and drink specials. The food is fresh and tasty. You can get a ton of sushi at a great price. I also had attentive, friendly service that wasn't pissed off I stayed a bit too long..
(5)Bashar E.
Ok so we are new to the area. We moved in a couple of months ago and were looking for a good sushi place. My wife & I love sushi and always looking for a place to top our favorite down in south Florida. So we looked up the place, read the reviews and thought we found one. We knew something was not right from the first bite. The presentation is average, the rolls looked too small, the rice was falling apart, and the raw fish meat was warm. To top it the price tag was a hefty one. This is the last time we will visit this place.
(1)Stacey L.
Chose this place because of all the good reviews it's received, plus the amount of different vegetarian rolls they offered. Had the veggie Goya/potstickers, and the all green veggie roll. Other people at my table had the bulgogi (a marinated beef dish), the teriyaki chicken, and the rainbow roll. Everyone was super happy with their meals, and the sake was good too. The only downside was that it was a Friday night, the place got pretty full, and there was only one server through most of it. Another server showed up later so that made service a little faster, but there was still only one guy making sushi so it took a while. It was worth the wait.
(5)Dave B.
Great sushi....fresh great combos.....took a star away because the server was friendly but clueless.....I would ask "what is that" and the response would always be "I dont know...right down to the appetizers. ..so overall I will be back because the food was outstanding.....but the waitress realllly needs to study......at least the appetizers. ...

We always have excellent sushi, or other dishes here. We often find the restaurant very quite during lunch. They have casual seating and wait staff is quite friendly and helpful. My husband love's their eel and their ahi. I like their teriyaki grill that comes with chicken, beef or shrimp--I've liked all three, along with fried rice, stir fried vegetables, soup--your choice of miso or onion, and salad. We've also tried their tempura prawns--these come with mixed vegetables and are really tasty. They have beer and wine, soft drinks and tea. Bathrooms are clean. It's very convenient to eat here when visiting the mall. You can dine quietly without the crowds at the mall.
(5)Mia P.
Really fresh and delicious sushi for a little strip mall place. This is a wonderful surprise. I can't remember the name of the rolls, but I tried 4 different items and they were all delicious. Great server too!
(5)kelley s.
Super yummy and fresh sushi, especially for being in a strip mall. My only complaint is that the Volcano roll... was so freaking HOT! I like to try a Volcano Roll at most sushi places I go to and this was by far the most off the charts rolls... and not in a good way, at least for me. I'm used to the sweet eel sauce and shredded yumminess... this was yummy but it was covered in siracha, not sweet at all and burned my lips SO bad. Redeeming factor... I found Nemo. One of my most favorite rolls they have. I originally got it solely for the name, but it turns out, it was delicious. Super fresh, sweet and creamy! It took awhile to get our sushi made (hence the 4 stars), there was only one sushi chef working and it was pretty crowded. Our waitress was really nice and accommodating. The calamari was super tasty as well. So, yeah, support a new business and go get some yummy sushi!
(4)Sarah M.
I'm a regular at this place. Love the quaintnance of it and the reasonable prices. Food is good, place is clean and staff is friendly. Will continue to be a customer :)
(5)Gary H.
Excellent. Very nice, clean and pretty restaurant with delicious food. I'm going back tomorrow. The staff was very professional and polite. The tempura shrimp was delicious
(5)Gayle H.
Very nice restraraunt, the food was great. The onion soup was gentle and smooth. Fresh ginger salads. I had two appetizers for dinner, vegatable tempura and tuna tatami, and my husband had sashimi. The presentation is beautiful and the food was fresh and delicious. Sat outside, it was a nice night, and the staff was attentive. Will go again.
(5)Ashleigh R.
Just writing to let anyone know that this place does close from 3-5. I was disappointed when I walked all the up and saw the closed sign posted on the door :(
(3)Amanda P.
So yummy! We had the lunch special, which was a great deal. My husband ordered the spicy salmon and spicy tuna, I ordered the Philly and the eel. LOVED the eel and spicy salmon. I thought the philly needed more cream cheese, but I'm sure it was healthier the way they prepared it. :P We'll definitely go there again, if we're in the area.
(4)Anna K.
First time having sushi and will say, the best! I usually dislike seafood greatly but the food here was fantastic. The Honeymoon is the best and then the Fantasy. Plus the deserts are the perfect amount of sweetness. I like a light meal and dessert yet you feel full not "bloated." They avhieved this well. Bravo guys and good customer service. Though we came as soon as they opened in the evening.
(5)Bob L.
The sushi was very good and the service was great. Glad to find hidden gems like this in the Sanford area.
(4)Tomi G.
My 5th time here... And working my way thru the signature and specialty rolls... 15 more to go or so. The rolls are very large, I always split one with my gf. The mini veggie rolls I get every time! U love this place except there is no egg drop soup which is my favorite...and yes I know egg drop is Chinese but what the heck add it anyway :-)
(5)Mike C.
Great Sushi in Sanford!? Wow! On our way back to South Orlando we decided we would brave trying sushi out in the land of Sanford. We naturally consulted yelp and came up with Maru Sushi. The place was empty when we arrived and we found ourselves a seat in one of the booths located along the wall. I ordered the Double Spicy Tuna and the Mango Roll and both were excellent (especially the double spicy tuna). Finally, a spicy tuna roll with some kick to it! The sushi tasted both fresh and delicious. Service was friendly and the experience was just a great one. When I'm back in Sanford this is where I am coming for sushi!
(5)Marcie G.
Ok I'm going to start off with the positive- the food is very, very good. They have a $9 lunch special with 2 rolls, soup and a salad. It's the perfect price for a perfect lunchtime meal. The problem? They need to hire like three times the amount of people they have currently. I went two Fridays in a row and both were slow. If it was a Saturday, I'd be totally OK with it, but like us and everyone else there, we only get an hour for lunch. I had to take my order to-go because after 45 minutes we still hadn't gotten our salads. By the time I got back to my office the sushi felt warm so I ended up just throwing it away. People are starting to realize how awesome this place is, but they gotta step it up during the lunch crowd or people like me won't be back anytime soon.
(3)Loretta B.
My husband and I loved this place! Tried both rolls and Nigiri.Good Service And Fabulous food. My husband also loved his roll with bacon. His two favorite things, good sushi and good bacon.
(5)Lee B.
Amazing food and friendly service! We have gone twice now and the sushi rolls were almost too pretty to eat, but upon digging in, we were mopping up every bit of sauce with each piece! Fantastic from start to finish!! We will definitely be back! Much better in food quality and portion sizes than any sushi restaurant in the area - definitely worth checking out! They are inventive with their flavor combinations and have you coming back to try something new everytime!

I recently had a Saturday lunch with my wife at Maru around 1pm. Our server was a young woman probably in her early 20's. We started our order with Edamame for an appetizer and both ordered Sushi for the main dish and Egg Drop Soup and a salad. The egg drop soup arrived first, it was a bad start to the meal because it not only came out lukewarm, it noticeably tasted old as if it had been prepared days before being served. Fortunately the meal got better, the salad was great, and the Sushi was fantastic, very fresh. I used to work in Asia and learned to appreciate good Sushi, Maru certainly did deliver good Sushi. During the end of our meal My wife and I discussed that we should probably tell the server that we were no longer interested in the Edamame, as we ordered it as an appetizer. When I called over the server and very politely asked her, "Could you please take off the Edamame order, We are all set". Thinking that she would most likely apologize and say that she forgot the order, she gave us a long drawn out look with an uncomfortable silence, and finally simply said "OK", and walked off. Now maybe I was missing something but I thought an appetizer was supposed to come out at the beginning of the meal. Not to mention she had not checked on us at all throughout the meal. Its a shame when a server ruins the experience of the rare occasion that my wife and I are able to escape the kids and enjoy a quiet meal. Other than the Egg Drop Soup the food was great, but our service left a lot to be desired.
(3)Bart F.
The best sushi I have ever had! Beats Amura on taste, quality and price!! Try the signature roll, it my favorite with eel sauce. (It's not made from eel...lol)
(5)Craig W.
I'm giving it 3 stars because the past couple times I went in. The sushi is good but way over priced, I might as well go to Anura down the street. But the older chef was not creative. Never wanted to make something or modify any roll for me. The kitchen food was nothing special. I could recreate it at home. But the most recent time I went in I noticed there was a new younger chef. So I asked to make something special and he did. It came out faster than the previous 30 min wait times. And it was better than anything I had in the menu. I will be back as long as the younger gentleman is behind the bar.!!
(3)Katie B.
How far we fall.... So disappointed , hadn't been here in a couple months and went in for lunch on Saturday . First thing , the staff never turned lights on in restaurant which was very strange. Salad was more like a soup and was swimming in water and dressing, soup was very salty. Sushi was good . There was 2 of us in our party and one of us was given our order while we waited over 5min for both of us to be served . This experience was negative to all our past visits. It was mainly poor service of staff, who obviously didn't care and didn't want to be there. I will say this was different staff working that we had never seen in past visits.
(2)Allison M.
I don't know what everyone else is on, but I had did not have good sushi here. Totally disappointed. The rice was no good, and the unagi came out cold and stale. The server was nice enough, but I felt like it was a waste of money paying the bill. It's near the mall, and there aren't too many sushi places in Sanford, but if you really like sushi, find somewhere better than this.
(2)Wendy m.
Well I never ate there because I was ignored. I arrived a little after 1. No one was there to greet or say take a seat eventually the guy making sushi yelled across the restaurant to have a seat anywhere. 3 minutes later server hands me a menu and asked me what Id like to drink . I told him water he said he said he would be right back 6 minutes later no water. He was cashing people out at the register and then across the restaurant he goes and asks a table who walked in one minute ago what they would like. I could tell they were regulars but still no excuse. At lunch time people expect fast service. I got up and walked out. I only saw one server the whole time and the sushi maker. I left really annoyed because I had this place bookmarked on Yelp for a long time. Well food may be 5 stars but service at lunch should be avoided.

Last night's experience at Maru was as close to sushi heaven as I've ever come. Let me preface - I'm not a big sushi guy. However, my gf loves sushi and I love introducing her to new places so we took a leap and headed to Maru. Let's break it down: Interior design / ambiance: 4 stars Don't let the fact that it's in a strip mall stop you. Inside, a beautiful back splash behind the sushi station proudly displays the business' name. Quaint and charming as a whole, but appropriately lit for the theme they're going for. Furniture wasnt top notch but was in fine condition and appropriate for the venue. Only thing a little off was the music. Would've preferred something more traditional instead of Top 40 hits, but a small gripe. Food: 4 stars (just shy of 5) Simply put, the sushi was the best sushi I've ever had. Ordered the Sweet Potato Tempura Roll, Sexy Bacon Roll (most unique), and my personal favorite the Retro Roll. Let me reiterate I don't know much about sushi, but my gf does and she loved them all too. The latter two rolls were "specialty rolls" and they were HUGE! We also ordered the beef gyoza as an app (delicious) and the Bulgogi which, while certainly good, was a little dry and not the best I've had. Drink Selection: 4 stars Decent selection of wine, Asian and American beer, and specialty Asian drinks (sake, plum wine, etc.) Service: 5 stars Some of the best casual service I've ever received, all thanks to Ney. She is the BOMB! Laid back, but never unprofessional, She guided us through the menu with an easygoing and fun demeanor. We had a blast with her. Additionally, the owner (who was also the sushi chef) was very kind. I can't wait to go back and visit Ney and have another Retro Roll at Maru!
(4)Brian S.
The best roll of sushi I have ever had in my life was from Maru Sushi & Grill last night. I ordered the Retro. AMAZING!!!! It was a perfect blend of ingredients that seemed to work in the most beautiful way. The prices are not bad at all either. I will be coming back for more! Side note, the water is good. Sometimes water at restaurants taste really bad but this place must use a filter or something.
(5)Daniel R.
Server not friendliest, but I base my reviews on food unless something else is horrendous. Excellent sushi roll- Feast of flowers. Just the right amount of salmon. Prepared to look like art. Fresh and flavorful. It was lunch special $12 and came with good soup and salad w/great dressing.
(5)Zenara S.
Sushi here was pretty mediocre and pricey for what it was. Came on a Monday night and it was empty, the inside looked very cute and modern. I'm a pretty big sushi fanatic and the sushi here was alright at best. They have a lot of specialty rolls. Two of the rolls I ordered were wrapped in seaweed and I had to spit the seaweed out almost every time, the consistency of it was no good, and I've never had a problem with nori before. The server was great, and I would definitely recommend their Maru Speciality Roll, which was the only roll out of the five I had that I would consider worth it.
(3)Lavada R.
If you like sushi and want some where not too crowded... this is a great place to be. Staff is friendly, food is good, sake is pleasant and the price is fantastic. If you are near the Sanford mall come see these folks for some awesome sushi.
(5)Rachael M.
We ate there for the first time a couple weeks ago and the food was amazing. We eat a lot of sushi and we were really impressed. The service was great, the sushi was fresh and they have a wide variety of rolls. Lots of special rolls we had never had and the chef was willing to do whatever we wanted. Definitely recommend!!
(5)Mirely G.
Great food Apple & cucumber sake are awesome! The sushi is very tasty and onion soup was good too. The only complaint is ambiance the place is small and doesn't really have much attractive but good is really good. I really recommend aloha rolls
(4)Jason H.
Bad. Where to start? The service was really slow even though there were only three tables occupied. To the server's credit, there were a lot of take out orders which seemed to take priority over dine in orders. The miso soup was bland and watery, without any real semblance of miso at all. The nigiri was very sloppy with the rice falling apart as soon as it was picked up. The rolls were the same....rice falling apart, loosely rolled, just sloppy. The only thing consistent with higher end sushi was the price. Won't be back.
(2)K P.
I've been here several times and each time was better than the last. I have to confess the first time we went, we almost didn't go in because it was in a weird strip mall and was fairly empty on a sat night. I don't know if I just go at weird times, but this place never seems crowded and I can't figure out why. Regardless, the food is always fresh (fantastic sashimi) and really delicious.
(5)Pranit P.
Multiple trips and the sushi is consistently top notch. The family that owns it operates a friendly, clean, and comfortable place that's sure to please.
(5)Faith O.
Very nice food, I met up with a group for dinner. The food was pretty good, no complaints from anyone, all high quality ingredients. Good enough to convert two non-sushi eaters into returning customers. My only reservation was the service, we received the appetizers after the meal. If you don't hunt someone down you're not getting it. It might have been just because we were talking.
(4)Jillian C.
Words can't describe how happy I am to have found this place. Fresh, yummy sushi, hibachi and Korean hot plate offerings, and it's less than 10 minutes from my house! The lunch specials are great too...2 rolls, soup and a salad for $9 - can't beat that. Plus it's cute and clean on the inside, and the staff is always very friendly. Great little spot for date night. Maru is in a small plaza near the Sanford mall, so keep your eyes peeled, it's easy to miss.
(5)Karen R.
FINALLY!!! A wonderful sushi restaurant! My husband and I have been trying sushi restaurants in the area since moving here 6 months ago. Places were ok, but nothing really wowed us. And then we went here. WOW! Fresh sushi, prepared and plated beautifully. I had the sweet potato tempura roll and the shrimp tempura roll. The tempura was cooked perfectly: very crisp batter and creamy sweet potato and excellent shrimp. Two rolls were a huge portion (8 pieces each). I could definitely pare it to one roll the next time and not leave feeling hungry. My husband also had the shrimp tempura roll and a spicy tuna roll. He agreed that the shrimp tempura was perfect! He said the spicy tuna was very fresh and definitely had a touch of heat to it. We will absolutely be returning to get our sushi on! Give them a try: you will not be disappointed!

Wish Maru wasn't so far away! I love the daily sushi and drink specials. The food is fresh and tasty. You can get a ton of sushi at a great price. I also had attentive, friendly service that wasn't pissed off I stayed a bit too long..

Great sushi....fresh great combos.....took a star away because the server was friendly but clueless.....I would ask "what is that" and the response would always be "I dont know...right down to the appetizers. ..so overall I will be back because the food was outstanding.....but the waitress realllly needs to study......at least the appetizers. ...

Genuinely good food. Highly recommend this place. The special rolls are giant and even the salads and appetizers are amazing. Consistently great food and a nice atmosphere. Plus my waitress was adorable, which always helps. Go try it! Hidden gem.

Way better than average sushi. Maru signature roll was almost perfect. This may sound wacky, but The tuna pieces in the were just a bit too cold - the fish flavor came through better as the roll got slightly warmer. Good service. Casual decor.

(5)Anna K.

Just writing to let anyone know that this place does close from 3-5. I was disappointed when I walked all the up and saw the closed sign posted on the door :(

(5)Amanda P.
(4)Mitchell F.
Enjoy.
(3)Tracie W.
(4)Rod H.
(5)Marty H.
(5)John F.

(5)Alan C.

Love love love this place. I try and visit at least once a week for lunch. The food is delicious and fresh, as well interesting (the rolls all taste and look unique). The service is also very good. Even when there is just 1 person serving & tons of people inside, I'm amazed at just how fast everything is made & served. Will keep going as long as they are open (hopefully for a very long time)!

I have been coming to Maru's for years! Unfortunately, not as often as I use to due to the distance. However, this restaurant is still my favorite sushi place in Central Florida! I stopped in yesterday for lunch as I was in Sanford for work. I was sad to see that the owner wasn't there, and a younger gentlemen was preparing the sushi. I must say, one of the reason I have loved Maru was because it was always the same person preparing the sushi, unlike many other restaurants. You could always count on quality, and amazing conversation if you say at the bar. I asked the waitress where he was, and sadly she hesitated before saying he was on vacation (which does make me wonder). I truly hope that he is doing well, as he was an amazing man, and an incredible chef! Even with his absence, the younger gentlemen preparing the sushi did a good job! It is clear that Maru has held true to their reputation of choosing only the freshest fish! I will definitely be back next time I am in town, and hopefully the owner will be back in action creating his amazing rolls!

This place is clean and up to date and quiet!! Service is great the girl that normally works there is very nice and cute one of the reasons I go back,.. Someday I'll tell her lol! As for the food.. The Korean food is ok not the best just ok.. Their sushi seems fresh nothing out of the norm.. I gave it a three stars cause it isn't as special as some say it's just a local sushi Korean fashion place with food that is a little above average and the prices seem over priced... I keep going back since the girl is cute lol and it's next to the theater in the mall so I don't have to go out my way...

Lunch specials are decent for what it is, my coworkers and I frequently go. Small pet peeves- 1) Their onion and miso soup are awful so don't be optimistic. 2) They charge if you request one extra white sauce. 3) They give soy packets for to go orders (never enough btw). Is it really that much effort or so costly to provide soy sauce in a little container as opposed to patrons having to squeeze and spill it at their desk? In addition, dinner rolls were extremely disappointing. Presentation was wonderful, rolls looked amazing and were a decent size. However, fish was not fresh and meal lacked any flavor. I would try again but with no expectations of anything close to great; just very avg sushi conveniently located next to me.
(3)Bruce K.
Simply excellent. Anything I say about Maru will only diminish your possible opinion of them, but I have to leave *something* in the review. I started off with the calimari salad. Good sized portion that had some smaller and some larger tidbits in there with a tangy vinegar. Easy to eat wtih chopsticks while I watched the sushi chef putting other orders including my own together. And then my two rolls were ready. A "Fusion" roll which was a mix of different fish inside of a skinned cucumber. No rice here, just cucumber and fish and yumminess. Awesome. And yes, I ate the cucumber. My waitress said that most people don't. What a waste! My other roll was the fuji apple and tuna. It was good. Fresh tasting, lots of tuna and delicious. I've never had apple in a sushi roll before. Try it! With it, I had a beer I've never had before. Ginga Kogen, an unfiltered witbier. Excellent with sushi! Good service, great food, excellently assembled and presented sushi. Five stars for Maru!

(1)Rachael M.

(5)Jason H.

(5)Amanda P.
(4)Mitchell F.
Enjoy.

(5)Rod H.
(5)Marty H.
(5)John F.
(5)Tracie W.

(3)Kiz L.

The best sushi I have ever had! Beats Amura on taste, quality and price!! Try the signature roll, it my favorite with eel sauce. (It's not made from eel...lol)

Great food Apple & cucumber sake are awesome! The sushi is very tasty and onion soup was good too. The only complaint is ambiance the place is small and doesn't really have much attractive but good is really good. I really recommend aloha rolls

Genuinely good food. Highly recommend this place. The special rolls are giant and even the salads and appetizers are amazing. Consistently great food and a nice atmosphere. Plus my waitress was adorable, which always helps. Go try it! Hidden gem.

Multiple trips and the sushi is consistently top notch. The family that owns it operates a friendly, clean, and comfortable place that's sure to please.
