Great little out of the way place. The house used to belong to a guy that used to work for my brother. Grouper was excellent. Sign in front was funny. The bar is long and you'll feel like a local if you don't look like a tourist. Of course I looked like a tourest with my local brother but I didn't care. The bar is long and cool with all sorts of things hanging - we found some old Kansas license places and Jayhawk stuff. Yes, we were born and raised in Kansas so we thought this was pretty cool. Lot's of open air seating (on the old porch). I think my brother eats here often and I would to if I were closer.

Visiting this old house turned restaurant will make you feel like you've gone back in time, in a good way. It's located in Ozona, a little town that seems miles away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Huge old trees frame the property and a seat outside on the porch gives you the best view. It's very casual, so come as you are (within reason!). The menu is quite extensive: burgers, wraps, seafood, sandwiches, etc. While none of the food will knock your socks off, it's all quite tasty and fresh. The service is where this restaurant shines. Everyone is friendly and accommodating. We had people who weren't even our server stopping to see how we were enjoying everything. All in all, this is a true Florida gem.

A true Floridian atmosphere, very casual. Great for lunch or dinner. The crab cakes are very good. There is quite a selection on the menu and they have great drink specials. if you enjoy a very casual atmosphere, good food, and a cold beverage, this is a great choice in the oh-so-quaint Ozona area. While in Fl visiting family we had dinner here. Started out with a round of drinks and oysters (yumm!) I had the sole for dinner and the bf had a sandwich (roast beef?). Food was good, a little heavy on the butter for my CA palate. The portion was huge! I was full after a few bites and let the boys take the leftovers for later. I liked the atmosphere and the patio where we sat.

The fish and chips are great at Molly Goodhead's!! We also had the steamed mussels, they were wonderful! The blackened Grouper was excellent as well, very fresh. We will definitely be back.

We stopped in for a quick bite en route from the airport, and it was lovely. A warm welcome from the bartender and the server made us feel at home right away, and the drinks came quickly. Oyster shooters soothed immediately. Food was comforting and good/solid, not spectacular but hit the spot. The overall vibe is just terrific, and it could become a regular haunt if I lived here.

Well, it looked like a fun place...too bad we couldn't get served. My boyfriend and I rode our bikes along the Pinellas Trail to have lunch here, and couldn't wait for an ice cold beer and some appetizers. We sat down at an open table and waited...and waited...and waited. Despite plenty of half-dressed waitresses passing our way, nobody would even acknowledge us. Finally after about 10 minutes, I went inside and asked a server if it was in fact OK for us to sit there for lunch and she said, "of course, someone will be right with you." 10 minutes later, again being passed by several more servers without a glance, we got up and rode our bikes down the street to Ozona Blue where we had a wonderful lunch, plenty of cocktails and tipped way over 20%. Too bad...

WHERE DO I BEGIN!? Drinks are WAY OVERPRICED. I paid $6.75 for three sweet teas which at first came out as unsweet teas. When we asked the waitress to correct them she proceeded to tell us they WERE sweet teas but she would bring us new refills. I guess all THREE of us in our party have no taste buds. The food was mediocre to say the least. My lady ordered coconut shrimp and asked for a cup of soup instead of salad. The waitress said of course the meal comes with two sides and you can sub anything you like. Five minutes later a different waitress comes to the table with a salad and says you have to pay for soup it cannot be subsituted. Instead of arguing with this numb skull, I told her I would pay for the soup and to bring what she had ordered. When we got the bill they UPCHARGED us for the salad that she didnt even want! I ordered a fried grouper sandwhich with fries and asked for a slice of cheese on the sandwhich. Of course the sandwhich came out with no cheese and I had to ask for it again. Our waitress instead of taking the plate back to make the sandwhich correctly, brought me a slice of cheddar on a soup plate (see picture). Seriously? MCDONALDS would have taken back the sandwhich and made it right. We ordered my god son chicken fingers off the kids menu. His chicken came out almost burned and so hot that he had to wait nearly TEN MINUTES before he could eat. A smart kitchen would know to cook foods that reach the highest temp first so they can be served with the others. THE SERVICE From what youve read so far you should have a good idea of how bad the service is. Our waitress seemed very uninterested in being there and was obviously uneducated about the menu. THE PRICE Our total came to $55.00. I looked around for the window I must have broke but couldnt find it. Keep in mind thats $7.00 on three teas. Two adult meals and a childs meal. Oh and a salad we specifically asked NOT to get. All in all this place is a dump. Floors creek, tables stuffed in every spare inch they have. You can practically see dirt on the walls. We wont be going back. Go to the Ozona Pig across the road. Better prices, better service, better food.

Took my girlfriend there on our first date and we had a great time. We went back not too long ago and were disappointed. The food was average and the service was not that great, Really like the location and atmosphere but it seemed like none of the wait staff wanted to be there. Big contrast lately..

I don't know what to really say about this place. I've been here twice, and I probably won't go back. Everything I have tried here has been just okay, and that would be fine. Add that to the price, which is a bit high, it isn't an equation for success. All the food is tasteless, even the fish spread. I know fresh fish and this isn't the place to go to find that.

Went there tonight. Staff was nice but service was slow. I ordered the blackened grouper sandwich and the bun was soaking wet so I just ate my fish. I could have sent it back but who knows how long it would have taken to get a new sandwich. We had already been there an hour. The fries were delicious. The grouper itself was yummy but someone should have let it rest a bit before putting it on the bun. My bun was soaked, spongy and not edible. Calamari was nothing special and I was a little annoyed there was an up charge to get the sauce that comes with the calamari with peppers with the regular calamari. I just didn't want the peppers. It'll be a while before we go back if ever

Had a great experience here while visiting the Tampa area for a wedding. Above all else, the service was excellent -- both front of house and heart of house. We had a seated pre-wedding dinner for approx. 30 people upstairs and the staff did an excellent job and the kitchen pushed all the plates out nearly at the same time, which is impressive given the relatively small size of the establishment overall. Everyone enjoyed their meals thoroughly. Two food items of note: (1) in addition to grilled or blackened, they offer Mahi Mahi deep fried -- and it works!; (2) avoid the vegetables side dish -- it's near mush. Moved down to the bar after dinner the excellent service continued. Well worth a visit if in the area.

A definite 4.5 stars. A group of 8 dropped in for dinner. We sat on the porch and although cool, heaters were brought out which made the temp. perfect. Our server was excellent, very friendly and couldn't do enough for us ( further details to follow). Can't go into details about everyone's meals, so I'll talk about those near me. Before I start, I should mention that the menu is far bigger than detailed on line...there really is something for everyone here. Meal summary: I had the Grouper Platter. Blackened pieces of grouper with fries and coleslaw. It is now one of my favorite dishes...it was amazing ! Rich flavours, big portion size, delicious ! The person next to me had the clam chowder...it came out "cool" and had to be sent back. The replacement was warmer, but not hot. After he was finished, the waitress brought out another full bowl saying that his first bowl was the bottom of the pot and that a fresh pot was just made. Excellent customer service and surprising..her actions salvaged what would have been a bad experience for him. The person across from me had the stuffed shrimp...he said they were amazing and Flavourful. He almost licked the plate clean. Another person had the grouper sandwich..blackened grouper on a bun with fries. Excellent....he's a local so he has this once a week...it's his Friday night special. Key lime pie was off the charts good. I will try to make it back here before I leave..... I dropped 1/2 star in rating due to the first bowl of clam chowder being cold.

Check your bill. I've been coming to Molly Goodhead's for years. The food is good to excellent. I like most of the servers and bartenders. But, they don't keep their menu up to date. And, they'll just go ahead and charge you whatever they want, regardless of what is listed. I was there with a friend today, and, she ordered an item that was on special. She was overcharged by $3 because the regular menu price for that item had increased. Talked to the manager, no dice. So, they're basically breaking the law, since you can't charge more than what the menu states. I've come here for years. It's a shame that they've decided to take a measly $3 that isn't theirs over what I and my friends spend there every month. It'll be a long time before I go back.

Enjoyed my visit. Went searching for oysters on the half shell nearby and was happy to find this little spot. It appears to be a local hot spot and, while a little out of the way for me, was nice to see a place not overloaded with tourists. The bar itself was fairly well packed but not so much that I couldn't find my own spot. There was the lingering smell of cigarette smoke, which surprised me, but it wasn't off-putting. The staff were friendly, helpful, and quick to get a drink order. Also quick to take my food order. The oysters were ice cold (yay!) and served on ice as well. All in all a decent little place with friendly locals, great staff, and good oysters.

I have been going to this place for many years. I had lunch there today and as usual the food was good and the atmosphere was upbeat and welcoming. I had the fried clams and they were tender and delicious. this is a great local place off the beaten path and always enjoyable.

This is your typical Floridian local and touristy at the same time kind of place, where people think they can find good seafood. I'm not saying it's bad, it's ok. It's bar food, nothing out of this world by any means, but it does the job. This place is always busy, chaotic and loud. Especially, if you're sitting at the bar. If u come during happy hour like me, (3-7) expect to experience loud patrons, curse words, and bartenders running around like chickens with their head cut off. U know, the usual! Be prepared and know what u want because they are busy and u will lose your chance. No umm , hmm, I think I.. Umm . The bartender will cut your mumbling ass off and tell u she'll be back faster than a blink of an eye. Phyooom!.. and just like that, she's gone! Hahaha.. The bartenders really do a great job though handling all of us crazy people out there. Kudos to them, really !

I love all beachy areas, but right now I am into the stretch from Dunedin to Tarpon Springs. If you take Tampa Road straight down, all the way you run into a little town called Ozona. It is cute, eclectic and has some good eats! We went to the bar first, it was packed with regulars, had great prices and a super friendly staff. I could have just stayed at the bar all night. Really cool local hangout. I found it quite unusual that the restaurant/bar are across the street from the Gulf of Mexico, but the overflow parking area is on the water...odd. I had the large order off peel & eat shrimp. The shrimp were a good size, but not jumbo & cooked spot on. The cocktail sauce had a nice horseradish kick, but wasn't overpowering. My friend had the grouper sandwich and is still raving about it, need I say more? Great little place, funky beachy vibe and decorstions. My only criticism was the food waitress. I don't know if she was trying to do the entire restaurant on her own, if someone didn't show up or what the story was, but if you weren't ready to order when she buzzed up to your table, you were so and chasing her down. That was not pleasant. What's a girl to do? Ya gotta keep trying little independent restaurants, you can find some rare jewls.

Was so excited to try this place after reading the reviews. Being from the panhandle, I know fresh seafood. When we arrived they said it would be a 20 minute wait, 45 minutes later we were seated after my husband brought it to their attention. We ordered calamari and a dozen raw oysters on the half shell. The oysters were super small and the calamari was slightly chewy but still had good flavor. For dinner i orders grill grouper, a salad and baked potato. The lettuce in the salad was brown. The "grilled" grouper came in a pile of grease! Yuck! My son ordered the fried shrimp, he said there was too much batter. However they tasted fine. My husband got the fried grouper sandwich, it was huge and he thought it tasted fine initially, then my "stomach of steel" husband felt sick to his stomach. This is a place to stay away from!! Plenty of other seafood places to try!

Molly Goodhead's is an amazing bar restaurant in good old Ozona. The ambiance is so funky and bohemian. Mickey took care of me at the bar and boy she is wonderful. I went with the grouper cheeks and alligator bites , they we're both so fresh and delicious. Mickey explained all the specials going on everyday of the week. Where else can you get a burger and fries for $6. And Wednesday is fish and chips day. Can't wait to come back to this place

A must if you want to try Gator! Until dining here, I loathed the taste of gator. If I ever get a craving, I will come back here. After spending a day at Honeymoon Island, this was a yelp suggestion and served gator tail that my friend desperately wished to try. We arrived and were seated on the porch which was pleasant with it's fans overhead creating a gentle breeze. The shirts on the wait staff were hilarious and unique. After browsing the menu, we order gator tail, a mahi mahi dish, mac n cheese for the girls, chicken tender meal for the girls as well, and I ordered the conch fritters and stuffed shrimp. We also ordered two sangrias to try. Sadly, the most tasty aspect of our meal was the gator tail, french fries and chocolate cake. The mahi mahi had no seasoning, my stuffed shrimp was soaked in butter and the stuffing was wads of beige something, the mac n cheese was bland, and the conch fritters were chewy and the sangrias were laden with cinnamon and hard to drink. The service was good and the waitress helpful, but truly the best part of this restaurant for me was the Gator Tail. I had a piece that was battered and a plain one and both were perfect. They had no distinct flavor and not gamey or oily at all. They were delicious and we ordered a second round. So, if you want some excellent gator and to buy an interesting shirt, this is the place to go. :)

Cute little place hidden in an area I would have never explored if my dad hadn't told me about it. Had dinner on the patio. Martini I had was unusual with coffee grinds on the top. I wasn't fond of it so I went with a Stella after that. Kids had pop. Ordered the nacho appetizer and it was huge. If you have kids make sure to request the jalapeños on the side. For dinner we had quesadillas and burgers. All of it was yummy. Fries were a little different. Had a cheesecake for dessert but I've had better, Maybe that's because I've been spoiled with Cheesecake Factory cheesecake & that's hard to beat. Overall we had a good meal with a good atmosphere and a good waitress. Make sure to check it out if your in the area.

Stopped in after a day on the beach. Was supper excited as I am a nj and fl native who had been stuck in colorado for a few years. I was craving non chain fresh seafood. Being I can see the gulf from their front porch one would think fresh seafood right!? Nope, I started with their fresh middle neck clams, however I got brown farm raised clams that come 50 for 5$ from grocery store. They were not shucked properly as bottom was still attached and they weren't the grey local clams as advertised. Next I ordered the stuffed flounder which I haven't had since I lived in NJ. Well the flounder was frozen and the stuffing was just that stuffing like stove top no crab meat or even crab flavoring. The sherry sauce tasted like a bland thin white biscuit gravy at best. Everything was very bland. My son's fish and chips was the best part as I guess battering frozen cod filets and frying them is up there alley cause they were cooked perfect. However I left very disappointed and another seafood restaurant surviving because of their location and not their food. I would look else where for seafood as I wasted 50$.

Found this place on yelp awhile back, and I made sure that it was one of our first stops. Although my friend lives in the area, she had never been to this restaurant, but once she stepped foot in its funky interior, I knew we were done searching for a watering hole. The bar was entertaining and the staff very friendly..they made us feel as if we are locals, which is always a good thing.We just ordered wings and oysters but both were delicious and satisfying. I eyed the rest of the menu, and I have to confess that I wish I had more time, for everything looked very good. We had to leave at the end of happy hour but Molly Goodhead's appeared to have a very nice crowd filtering in (alas another regret) At this point, I must also mention the little village where Molly Goodhead's is located. You could easily spend a couple of hours browsing these cool little shops. The next time, we plan to make a whole day of it. For a truly fun time, I say check this one out. You won't be disappointed.

What a great spot. You keep driving along tampa rd until it runs out. Here is an area called ozana, not found on any gps. It's r he perfect little locals florida village. Molly is great, ramshackled in a nice way. Walls covered in stuff, in door and out door seating. Food is fresh seafood, oysters on the shell, brilliant, fried shrimp in the lightest of batter. Salad fresh as can be. A great spot and will be a regular place for us now.

On our visit to Ozona we fell in love with Molly's. Both times we opted for items from the appetizer and raw menu. The ahi tuna (both times) was fresh with the right of crunch coated with sesame seeds. The accompaniment of a flavorful seaweed, wasabi sauce, and pickled ginger was perfect. Loved the alligator bites blackened. Crab stuffed shrimp was perfection, and the caper sauce for the mussels was bread-dipping wonderful. Great experience!

I was there on Saturday, June 13th for dinner. We eat oysters at Molly Goodhead's often, but this particular evening the oysters tasted "off" so we let our server know. We were very polite & just wanted to bring it to his attention, in case there was something wrong with them, so they wouldn't be served to further customers. He brought a manager over, who was extremely rude and defensive off the bat. She stated that there could be "nothing wrong with the oysters because they are farm raised." First of all, that's the stupidest thing I've ever heard....an old piece of cheese could make someone sick, let alone a spoiled oyster, farm raised, or not! Second, we didn't ask to speak to a manager....she came to us, & she could clearly use some training with her communication skills. We bit our tongues. But the kicker was, the oysters weren't even taken off of our check!!! Needless to say, we will NOT be returning to Molly Goodhead's.....EVER!!! Especially when we can get even better oysters, & service, at Old Bay Cafe down the road! Shame on that manager! Molly Goodhead's? More like Molly Gag-head's!!!! BOO!!!!

Molly Godhead's reminds me the scene from movie 'Pirates of the Caribbean', the dive bar at Tortuga where Captain Jack hang out with his crews. Molly Godhead's shares the same spirit. It has the heart of a pirate. Dinning at a loud restaurant is not my ideal way to enjoy good meal. Molly Godhead let you choose just one and must tolerate the other. Twice I ate at Molly, there were drunken folks nearby burst out love or hate from corner of their lungs. Despite unique individualism, everyone endures the stupidity, especially Molly's staffs, who are friendly and accommodates everyone's need. I guess, they grew the heart of the pirate. The ambiance and interior decor thicken the air. The dark back side of the bar stuffed with strange collection only pirates could see its beauty. I swear I heard the song in the shadow, 'Yo ho, yo ho, a pirate's life for me.....Drink up me hearties, yo ho. Really bad eggs...' Pirates or not, Molly has darn good seafood with reasonable price. Raw oysters in season are super fresh. With a glass of house wine during happy hour (3 to 7pm), I can finish a dozen in 5 minutes. Clam chowder is creamy smooth with plentiful ingredients. It is so far the best I have tried compare with nearby seafood restaurant, including the one served at near by Lobster Haven. The grouper sandwich is exceptional. Fresh. Thick. Juicy. I will never imaging fish sandwich be so delightful. I will come back for Molly's food, especially if I have guests in town. Molly is an excellent place to show folks how old Florida life is. However, It is less likely I will come back just for drinks. I like their atmosphere. I just can't see myself grow the heart of a Pirate any time soon.

Okay place for a beer. Food isn't great. They say the seafood is fresh everyday. I live close and don't see a food delivery truck there everyday. I've had both salmon dishes and both were bad. The grouper is pretty good and their salad is fresh. Just not great food. The Ohana is our favorite with Ozona Pig second.

Went into molly's for lunch today. The place had charm that only a well established, local restaurant could have. The atmosphere was florida casual but the food was top notch. The ahi tuna was delicious as well as the steamed garlic mussels. I also was pleasantly surprised to discover that they also carry fried clams. Yummy ! If you are in the area make the effort to stop by this comfortable restaurant.

One of our favorites. It's a little bit of a drive, but that's part of the fun on a beautiful day in Florida. Fun location. Antique shop across the street is worth a visit. My wife and I always enjoy the food. Service is very good. Typical style of seating for this type of restaurant. Don't expect fancy. Plastic tables and chairs on the outside patio. Prices are good. Comparable to similar style restaurants. We've been frequenting the establishment for over 20 years.

After approximately six good experiences at Molly Goodheads, this past Saturday's late lunch was a disaster. They were only modestly busy yet we waited about 5 minutes to be noticed by the hostess. She seated us and then there was a 10+ minute wait for a server. And, my, the server was in a grumpy mood -- snippy and curt, no smile nor enthusiasm. Our order arrived in a reasonable time frame and was tasty although the Mahi sandwich was much smaller than their usual. As we dined I asked for a second refill of my $2.25 soda. Grumpy server said "I'll get you water instead. We have a policy of only one refill. Management says we're losing money." Only one refill on a small $2.25 soda; Are they kidding? A dispensed soda refill costs a restaurant less than 25 cents ( pdco.com/node/88289 ). If they are losing money on sodas they have bigger problems. In so many ways they sunk their ship today. We won't be back.

A great atmosphere in a great area. I got the blacked grouper sandwich with slaw and my mom got the mahi Caesar wrap with slaw, we had some conch fritters, and I got 2 oyster shooters and a slice of key lime pie. Both the main dishes were good as expected from a seafood restaurant. The slaw dressing was a little disappointing as was the "slime" drizzled on the plate of the key lime pie. The fritters would've be excellent, if they would've changed the fryer oil when it needed it. It's been a warm winter so the oysters were not quite as sweet as gulf oyster should be at this time of year and they didn't use an amber which may have added to the off flavor. Molly's is usually pretty good food and I totally expected to rate at least 4 stars. I hope that it was just an off day, but they do need to get rid of the green slime and change they're slaw dressing recipe.

This is a cool little bar and restaurant in Ozona. It is off the beaten path and very casual. The older building sets the mood properly. They serve drinks and a simple menu. It is a fun place to visit if you are in the area.

We have been going there for years.. Recently a new manager in the kitchen has been trying to play a chefs role.. Me and my husband agree that the specials only have a special price.. That special price is called "too expensive " for under talented efforts that come with zero room for customer input... We are disappointed. We hope to see a better chef in Mollys sometime Soon. Great staff in the front.... Great bartender Mickey... We simply gave our waitress input on one of the chefs specials and we were told he had attitude and would not change anything.. Our fish was clearly deep fried (bacon wrapped wahoo) and it was an amber color and we could not eat it... Hope to see Some new talent in there soon. Otherwise we recommend this place. Just not for any "chef" specials ....

Back again 4/19/15. Every visit to the area, this is a must stop. Love the He Crab Soup!, I was a little disappointed in the slow service and over breaded Calamrari. Still I enjoy this rest.

One of our Florida favorites! Usually I find raw bars to be, well, sort of snobby, but not here! Molly's is where raw bar meets biker bar meets neighborhood eatery. The bartenders are fun and friendly and the servers are equally so. It's a friendly crowd where no one seems to be a stranger. In season the lobster rolls rule ( if you can get them) the She Crab soup is delightful and everything else is above average bar food without being pretentious. A hard to find but worthwhile finding gem. A must for happy hour.

This place has a nice feel to it and the wait staff works really hard to keep everyone happy. Appetizers were great; we had grouper bites (yummy!) Peel and eat shrimp, hot, which were a good size and quite tasty, and little necks on the half shell, also very good. Where they fell down were with the dinners. My char grilled grouper was skinny and very tough. I could've used a knife and the small ends were more of a fish jerky. I sent the side baked potato back to get reheated and it was warm when it came back but not cooked enough. You would think that their fish would be the one thing they're exemplary at producing. Sadly they were not last night.

$14.00 for a dozen fried oysters averaging the size of a penny. Looked more like popcorn chicken. I didn't make a fuss at the time but I wrote to them and they never even bothered to reply. Never again.

I've been eating here since the early 90's. I moved away about 15 years ago, and just moved back to town. This was one of my first stops. It was awesome then, and it's awesome now. The grouper sandwich is the best around. Not sure if I've ever had a better one, but I don't think so. The atmosphere is too cool. Their prices are good. My only complaint is some times it's very difficult to find a parking space, because of all the people. Even early in the evening, during the middle of the week, I've actually turned around and went elsewhere because there were zero spaces available. This place is off the beaten path, but it is one of the good spots. You have to try it.

The kitchen is filthy as are the tables and floors. Mostly a tourist dive. Waitresses look sketchy as their is no apparent dress code or hiring standards. Lots of fried food and marginal salads. Basically, it's dirty. Looks more like a watering hole than a nice restaurant.

Stopped here after a long day at the beach. I was starving, so I couldn't wait until that appetizer hit the table! Such a cool place, I love everything about it - the neighborhood it's in, the decor of the restaurant, etc. Great service, very speedy and attentive. Had the grouper bites (blackened!) and fried conch for starters - all very good and worth the calories. I chose the grouper sandwich, fried, which seemed to be the way to get it, according to our server. I didn't eat the bun, but the fish was very good. I look forward to my next vacation in Clearwater - will make a point to stop here again!

After being on the boat most of the day, went to Molly's to grab a bite to eat. The fish spread is to die for, the blackened gator bits were awesome. Their Grouper sandwich goes w/o saying and the service was Great !!! Been going here for years and its still #1 in my book !!!!!!!

If you're not a regular, don't go to the bar. Conversations abound between bar staff and regulars while we wait for service. Finally get a drink and sat looking at empty glasses waiting for second round. Had to walk to hostess stand to ask for check just so we could leave!

Best grouper sandwich i have had in Tampa. Great little local bar and grill, not a tourist trap thats overpriced like Frenchys. Excellent food, great bar atmosphere. Kinda out if the way....but thats cause its a bar and grill thats for the locals.

First time there today. Outside seating is available but we went to the bar. The bartender suggested oysters fresh from Apalachicola. They were large and fresh. I ordered mushroom caps stuffed with crab which were also very good. Service was friendly and efficient. The bar atmosphere was pleasant and the decor was great. Definitely will return to try the real menu.

we sat on the porch and it was very nice, only down side was it was alittle busy because of table placement. But food was very good. I had the fried calamari and fries for dinner. Calamari was some of the best I have had. My boyfriend had a grouper fish sandwich. They have good happy hour specials, Great Prices!

Third night of having a Fried Grouper sandwich for dinner. By far this was the best of the 3. The fish was cut thick, it was flakey, and it was so big that it was hanging out of both ends of the bun. It was a great sandwich. We all were very satisfied with our meals. We sat and ate on the front porch, not in the smoking section. It was kind of weird, the place is an old converted Florida style house. The service was a bit slower, but not bad in the least. So if you are up this way give it a try, you might be surprised.

It's below average. I've had better seafood at home. I ordered snow crab & they were steamed. Not hard to screw up but there was no seasoning on it not even lemon. The rest of my party was unimpressed with their food as well. Will not be going back.

This is the neatest freaking place I have been to in a long time. The oysters were fresh. The smoked fish dip was some of the best I have had. The calamari was lightly breaded and cooked perfectly. We sat at the bar; the friendly service might be the best part of the experience. I will be back on my next visit to this town !!

Have been going to Molly's for years. Best Haddock or Flounder anywhere around. They have a wonderful menu and I keep meaning to order something else but that damned fish is just too good! Oh yeah and the Stella on draft is always cold. The wait staff is happy and what more could you want???? Never had a bad time there.

Good food with a cool vibe. It feels off-the-beaten-path... like something that's a secret for locals. The atmosphere was eclectic but really crowded by the bar. The conch fritters were great and I had a delicious blackened grouper sandwich. My husband had fried grouper (as we had heard that the grouper was the best). Although it was good, mine was better... I can get fried fish anywhere. The dessert, a turtle cheesecake, wasn't anything special. Overall, nice, fresh seafood at a reasonable price.

Florida has finally redeemed itself in my eyes. My friends finally took me to a seafood place in Florida that had fresh, local seafood that was well-prepared to boot. Admittedly, it was grouper, the standard local fresh seafood (I don't understand how that is really the only local seafood). I had the grouper dinner, blackened, with a baked potato and Caesar salad. The Caesar salad left me a little wanting, but it could have been affected by the power outage the day before. My lettuce wasn't all that fresh, but that can be forgiven. The baked potato was huge, probably a good 1lb potato, and properly prepared - not too hard, not too soft. The prize was the grouper. Fresh, blackened perfectly, cooked to a perfect temperature, and served hot. And fresh. It can be difficult to find blackened food done right up in Ohio, so this was a particularly good treat. Now, I did skip over the appetizers. We ordered some fried gator tail, on a recommendation from a friend back home. Killer. The gator tail was really good, and it was nicely paired with a cocktail sauce that had a bit of kick and tasted great with the tail. I also had some "He" crab soup. I'm not sure what the difference is between He and She crab soup, but this was a creamy soup, almost thick enough to be a dip. It just melted in your mouth as you ate it, and a bowl is enough to put you in a coma. Even if you cannot pack it in at Molly's, order some pie for dessert. You can take it home - I did. I had the Key Lime pie, and it was outstanding. However, I have heard that the coconut cream is also incredible. Either way, I think you can't go wrong. Molly's is basically what I would call a dive that only the locals seem to know about. Great staff, great service, and great atmosphere. Well worth the trip out of the way to visit and have dinner.

This was my first visit (or at least first in a long time) to Molly Goodhead's. I loved the atmosphere, the old house is very cute, with a great big porch for outdoor dining. We started with the smoked fish spread. It was good, but pretty typical. I did like their habanero pepper sauce, because unlike some, it wasn't burn your face off hot and had a good flavor. I ordered a small Caesar and seafood gumbo for dinner. The Caesar could use some work, I wasn't a fan of the dressing or croutons. The gumbo was good and after I added a few drops of the hot sauce it was the perfect spiciness. I would definitely order it again. My husband tried the fish and chips because their Wednesday special is $5.95 fish and chips, you can't really beat that. He liked the fish and chips and said they weren't too greasy like some places. It looks like a fun spot to take out of town friends for the old Florida feel. Plus the beers are super cheap. I am interested to go back and try more of the seafood options. The grouper sandwich sounds like it is a winner.

I used to visit this place all the time before moving away to Colorado. I was so happy to return. Some of the best conch fritters anywhere, excellent seafood gumbo, fresh grouper, blackened or fried gator, and large shrimp (don't bother me with the oxymoron jive). On this trip, I think we just ordered one of everything since we knew it would be a while before we were back. I have to admit, I don't really care for the He Crab soup, but maybe that's because I don't like cream-based soups. Also, they make their dark n' stormy with Myers rum, so be sure to ask for it with Goslings (the way it should be).

Do you know how people try to rate the best ever movie, and then you get into a debate about whether Titanic is better than Raiders of the Lost Ark? Well, you really can't compare those because they are totally different in their own right. That is how I review restaurants. (By the way, the correct answer really is Raiders is WAY better than Titanic. Not even close...) So this was my first visit to Molly Goodhead's, and I love the old Florida feel. It's very local, very neighborly, very Florida. "It is what it is," as they say. You can't compare Molly Goodhead's to fancier upscale places, because that's not what they are trying to be. Locals hang out here, and that is that. Everywhere I looked there were neighborhood people (which I am now, as of recently), having some cold beer, and some simple but tasty, southern food. It's "bar food" sure, but that certainly has it's place in our lives. The bartender was friendly and attentive, and I didn't have to ask for a thing. Nice job! You're not going to get aged beef, and it's a bit kitschy, but it's a fun place with cold beer, in a quaint little neighborhood. And that's the way they like it here!

I've come here many times for the blackened grouper. Whether it's the dinner or the sandwich it is delicious. The fries aren't bad either. If you are in the area it's a must do place. Very casual and rustic.

Typical Florida and you probably have eaten here before - Crabby Bills, etc. Atmosphere 65 (too many tables in too little an area and loud!) Service 75 (all kids but they try hard) Food 75 (nothing exciting, but my meal was good) Value 80 ( the food was good for the price - the place was ok) If you are in the neighborhood, why not ! I would not go out of my way because there are just too many similar places.

I've been coming here off and on for about a year now. Most of the time, I've enjoyed drinks, gumbo, gator tail, conch fritters, all tasty. The oysters come from the gulf panhandle and are lovely! I've had the grouper once as an entree and it was really good as well. Off the road on Orange St in Ozona, it's a great place to just hang out with locals and relax.

This is the coolest, funkiest and best fish/ bar restaurant with an old bayou look and feel. The food is good, the beer is cold and the staff is hot! Definitely recommend this place for some good old fashioned seafood and atmosphere.

My sister dragged me to Molly's decades ago to try out my first blackened grouper sandwich. While I've had many a grouper sandwich since, you always remember your first, right? But back to grouper sandwiches.... on a recent visit to Molly's on a beautiful, quiet, sunny afternoon, I found myself on the front porch slurping down ice cold PBR drafts that washed down another awesome grouper sandwich. It's nice when good things in your life don't change, and when it comes to grouper sandwiches, Molly's hasn't changed at all. It was just as good as the firs time, which means it certainly won't be my last. Molly's is located on one of the main drags of downtown Ozona, which is to say it's in the middle of one of Ozona's beautiful tree-lined streets with about 4 commercial buildings on it. Ozona would make Mayberry look cosmopolitan, and I hope it never, ever changes. Molly's has dining on the porch as well as inside, but I've always managed to get a table outside and soak up the cool vibe and shade of Ozona. Service was excellent with my waitress frequently stopping by to see what I needed. Everything combined together to make it as close to perfect as a lazy afternoon can get. First of all this is a review from myself and my wife. We live out of state and when we visit family nearby, Molly Goodheads is the top place for us to eat at! The prices are great and the food is AMAZING!!!! They have the best burger (named the Gourmet Burger) and the best he-crab soup in the world. For us, we don't really care for the building, décor, atmosphere, just the food!!!! We literally always intend on eating there every day as our time allows. Everything we've ever had there has been top notch. Fried Calamari, Conch Fritters, Flounder Sandwich, just everything they pretty much serve we recommend 100%

Food was average. Ordered the French Dip as it was on the specials and was definitely not wowed by it. It was a plain dry roll with some beef and cheese. The cheese was the best part. Even the au jois was lacking. I guess suits me right for not going for seafood. Maybe that's where its at?

For a Sunday afternoon quick stop it's not a bad place. I love the area this place is in. Almost like a 2 block Key West strip. The bar itself is actually very comfortable, sort of a casual biker bar meets dead head sun burned fried hair Florida hang out. If that makes sense. Service is strange but good. I'm not sure why the bartender that day had on a tied up t-shirt exposing most of her skin because honestly she wasn't in great shape. Sort of a confusing situation. Do I look? I mean it is skin. But at the same time its not attractive skin, its more like examining a weird scar or a birthmark of abnormal size and shape. The food is subpar but then again 99% of Tampa food is. I had the smoked fish spread, a very poor attempt that nowhere near matches that of Ted Peter's in St. Pete. I also had the staple Grouper Sandwich. While this was good, it was nothing memorable. Also... if you are there during happy hour stick to draft. I had a Sam Adam's Happy Hour Draft for $3 then assumed Corona Light Bottles were also happy hour... way wrong. $5.50 a bottle.

Molly's was one of the first places we tried after moving to Palm Harbor. We have been there 6-7 times. The fish is very good, at times, and terrible on occasion. We have had really good fish (Grouper, Mahi, Flounder), when it is prepared correctly and "fresh" (both have been issues for us here). The portion comes in either 6oz or 9oz. sizes and I would hate to see the 6oz portion (I would like to take a scale and weigh it next time). The staff is very attentive and they do make you feel welcome. Our last visit on 2/23/13 was one of the less than satisfying visits. My wife ordered the Mahi Mahi 9oz (maybe if soaking wet) and from the first bite you could tell it was "old", like chewing gum. The waitress quickly took it away and we waited for a replacement. Meanwhile I finished my meal and wife's replacement fish did arrive "fresh" although our evening out had been ruined. An older hostess (not the waitress) came by after we got our bill and I asked her why my wife's fish was not comped, she said "because we replaced it". Same for us "We are replacing Molly's"...Ozuna Blue maybe.

This place is great. It has a very fun, southern feel. It feels like you're sitting in the heart of Louisiana. Kind off the beaten path so there aren't many tourists. Great prices on beer, and great fish. And the service is great as well. The food comes fast and the waitresses are cute. I had the blackened grouper sandwich and it was perfect. I would stick to fish, maybe try the gator, and I've heard the burgers are ok. The fried seafood is ok but nothing to write home about. Definitely a place that knows their fish and that is what I suggest ordering. I'll be back for that grouper and look forward to trying the mahi-mahi as well.

Molly's has bar food. My husband loves the clam chowder and the clam strips and every now and again, he'll get the oysters (but he has had bad oysters from there). I get the fried chicken and salad. Sometimes we'll get the onion rings, but I do find the rest of the food to be no more exciting than every day pub food. Service can be iffy. We've had some really really bad servers there, and other times, we feel like we're in a 5 star restaurant. It doesn't help that they go through staff constantly.

Fried food is battered well and not greasy. I find I enjoyed the fish. However all of that pails in the shadow of their New England clam chowder. If I find myself at Molly Goodhead's, I am having a bowl of their New England clam chowder and everything else is an afterthought.
