Eat here. It is the best food for the price compared to others on this street that are highly overpriced. It is simple, delicious italian food, but they have a little of everything it seemed like. Bacon wrapped scallops were delicious. We got the two entree and bottle of wine deal for $29. Chicken parm and chicken broccoli penne was great and great wine too. Lots of choices and great outdoor seating. It was crowded, which I consider a good thing and service was fast and attentive. Live music sometimes too.

This place is awesome! Very good Italian food and great service. Love the pizzas and pasta. I enjoy coming here and sitting outside and seeing the scenery on 5th avenue. They have great lunch specials and a great selection of alcohol as well.

They are overwhelmed by the winter business. We had to wait 25 minutes despite having a reservation. The food was predictably good and service reasonable. I'll be back during the summer or fall.

Ok really not the best food. Came on NYE though so probably was a bit of a shit show in the kitchen. Got the caprese salad which was awful, the tomatos were really awful, it tasted like they had been frozen and the middles were mush. The gnocchi itself was good but I wasn't a fan of the sauce. The garlic knots however were amazing! I would go back for those alone. The service was really great, and the outdoor seating was wonderful.

I've eaten at Luna's on three occasions. The first for lunch. Both my salad and server were great. Second time...not as great. Gnocchi was bland and over cooked but, my wife enjoyed her tri-color tortellini. Tonight was our third visit. The only thing worse than my dinner (over cooked mushy lasagna) was the service. Table was short napkins and dinner wear, no drink refills, salads served while apps were still being eaten then dinners served while we were still trying to eat apps and salads. No table bussing during service so dishes stacked everywhere, server MIA throughout meal. Waited about 30 minutes after everyone quit eating to bring our check. Server tried to recover at the end but too little too late. Can't think I'll be dining at Luna's again.

As timeless as the Naples pier itself, Cafe Luna has been a staple of the town for years and years. And it shows at lunch, when Luna fills up before any of the other restaurants immediately surrounding it get more than one or two tables worth of people. There's no secret to what they do, really. They offer good food at a great price and with the year-after-year consistency than the snow birds and locals both demand. Garlic knots are a must at my table, as are any of the very affordable and hearty sandwiches. I diverged from my normal chicken parmesan order to try the Reuben, and I wasn't disappointed. I'll be back over and over again.

This review is on behalf of my husband :: and I quote "Probably the best chicken parm, and meat sauce I have ever had." THIS coming from a picky, negative, never impressed vocabulary! Yayyy Cafe Luna! YUMM!

Discovered this place through a Restaurant.Com card and it has been our go-to spot ever since. We have yet to try their Veally Good Deal for $29.99 in which you get two Veal dinner entrees and a bottle of wine to share, but have heard great things from my parents and other reviewers who did try the special. However, we've tried their pizzas, salads, appetizers, sandwiches... you name it... and all were great! The meatballs were delicious, gigantic and moist. The chicken parm and reubens we had fed us for days and were better than any deli we've found around here. Any time I've tried their pasta I have yet to be disappointed. Decent beer selection, but I do wish they had some more local craft fare (there are just too many delicious Floridian breweries now to pass it up). The only thing I've ever been disappointed in (and only mildly) was the pizza - which surprised me as the first time we went there we had wished we ordered it after seeing everyone else around us get one. I can't put my finger on what was wrong with it, but something just felt off - so maybe it was just an off day. (That is the only reason I'm not giving it a 5 - but I will be happy to update it if I try it again and am proven wrong! :-) ) We've sat both inside and outside, and both are of average noise levels. Wait staff is always friendly, informative, and joking around with each other and the customers to make you really feel like family. The first time we went, we were sitting outside and one of those infamous Florida downpours came crashing down. We watched as all the restaurants around us scrambled to bring in their outdoor table linens, decorations, and anything else that was getting ruined. We were safe and dry under Cafe Luna's protective awning (complete with roll-down sides) - although the same could not be said for the poor hostess who was juuuuust outside this area and had her laptop opened and on! The workers all ran to her assistance, and everyone was keeping in good spirits about it - joking around with all of us about the misfortune. Yes parking can be a pain during busier seasons, but you can generally find a nearby space (or a free lot) within easy walking distance - which really works out well once you're done with your meal and so very full! At night they have some beautiful lighting - especially now that it is around the holidays. This place is both romantic, great for families, and great for a night out on the town. Give it a shot and I really doubt you'll be disappointed.

Service was good. Food and drinks were very disappointing. The sangria I ordered was pretty good however the Bahama mama my husband ordered was terrible. My husband ordered the veal Parmesan I ordered the veal piccata. The veal was grainy and cut a little thick. Marinara sauce for the Parmesan did not have a lot of taste. The sauce for the veal piccata was very runny. I have eaten in several wonderful places in this area. This place was a big letdown.

My grandson ordered a soda and when it came there was a straw with it. When he put it into the soda and took a sip, he got a mouthful of ants. We told our waiter and he said a manager would come speak to us. Well they never did and we had to seek them out at the end of the meal!q

During our stay in Naples we strolled by Cafe Luna one night and were drawn towards it through our noses. We looked over at each-other with an allsaying look on our face. We were about to have dinner here. Right on 5th Ave in downtown Naples, this restaurant has a nice outdoor patio area which is great for the ever-entertaining pastime of people watching. Though we entertained ourselves with this for a while, it took a long time for our waitress to approach us. When she finally did, she forgot to bring the pizza menu (which is what was smelling so darn delicious) and subsequently had to wait several minutes for that too. We decided on the bruschetta and a large quattro formagi pizza with caramelized onions and garlic. The bruschetta was good, and particularly enjoyed by my stepdaughter. Cafe Luna adds a slice of fresh mozzarella cheese below the tomato mixture, and drizzles all with balsamic. The bread used reminded me of Melba toast (only thicker), and I personally prefer a good toasted ciabatta over this for flavor and ease of eating purposes. The bread crumbles very easily, leaving you left over with tomato topped cheese. The cheese itself was very light, and 'waterlogged' in flavor, not the best I have ever had. Now the pizza, that is a totally different story. Good, handtossed thin-ish crust topped with tasty sauce (nothing too special) and a four cheese blend including fresh ricotta. The cheeses played nicely with the sweetness of the caramelized onions and garlic, and made for a pretty damn good pizza. Like many restaurants in the area, they have a 2 for $X deal, I believe theirs is $30. You can get a bottle of wine, two entrees and a dessert or appetizer for two using this pris fixe menu. The options however seem scarce and for the items which sound better out of the bunch, you are given the option to upgrade for anything between $5 and $10. Trust me when I say that their pizza appears to be the way to go, it is the first thing you smell when you walk by the restaurant, and the last thing you will be talking about that night. Where our waitress was mainly MIA all evening (leaving us parched and grumpy), our neighbors had a bubbly waiter seemingly qualified as being a tourist guide at the same time. While our service sucked, we witnessed a wonderful waiter visibly enjoying his job and therefor I will keep this review at 4 stars instead of dumping it down to 3 (service was a solid 2 stars on its own).

  • Kara H.

Great deal where you get 2 entrees and a bottle of wine for 29.99. We had a family of 4 so we did two deals and upgraded our first bottle for an additional 10. The meals sadly don't come with salad, but even adding them on the side allowed for a reasonably priced dinner. The service and atmosphere were both great, the only reason I didn't rank it higher was because I wasn't in love with my dinner (chicken and broccoli penne). Other members of my group got the eggplant Parmesan (they really enjoyed) the spaghetti and meatballs (good, and huge) and and lasagna ( good but nothing life changing). I'd go back (and not order the same thing). My family tries to go here at least once a trip. The price is definitely right, and the atmosphere is great. If you're looking for the best Italian you'll ever have, however-- I'd try Campiello's or Pazzo.

We had a great time at Cafe Luna. We all enjoyed our food, veal dishes are tender and very flavorful. Great service and entertainment.

We came here on a recommendation from a friend. The "veally good deal" was a deal, until you started adding up all of the up charges for better entrees and better wines. They advertise "$29.99 for 2 entrees and a bottle of wine". But, if you didn't want basic spaghetti and meatballs or similar choices, there was a $5 or $10 up charge per entree. We had the chicken Marsala ($5 more) and the Veal Saltimbocca ($10 more). Both were good, but pretty average. Then, unless you wanted Merlot or Chardonnay, there was a $10 upgrade for different wine. Our $30 dinner ended up being $70, with the upgrades and the $5.99 cheese bread we ordered as an appetizer. The food was ok, like I said, pretty basic. The outside dining area was super tight as well. You could hardly walk between tables to get out or use the restroom. Our waitress, Dee, was super sweet. And we made reservations, but were running early, and we were seated immediately when we arrived. They had good live music as well. Nice place, but beware of the up-sale! ,

My most recent trip to Café Luna was just as good as every other time I have been there. They have outdoor seating and its located on the beautiful 5th avenue in downtown Naples. For an appetizer we got Garlic Knots. They were fresh and full of flavor. For my entrée I got the pesto pasta with chicken. I have to get this at least once every time I'm in Naples. This meal is so good I haven't even tried anything else on the menu. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting or living in the Naples area.

Went there with my family. Got seated inside.... Very dark and crammed atmosphere. Several people asked to have the light turned up yet management claimed it would ruin the romantic ambience... If he looked around he would see that every table had kids and family....NOT a romantic place. Appetizers were extremely greasy. In fact there was a puddle of oil at the bottom of the garlic rolls. Wait staff seemed very much like they were running a chop shop... Nothing fancy or customer friendly at all. Chairs were loose and rocking, kids got bit by Mosquitos under the table (maybe that's why they keep the lights down). Pasta was undercooked. Mushrooms came from a can. Food is bland. Nowhere close to authentic Italian. But it is CHEAP for this area. So if you are trying to save money and want to get two cheap pastas and a cheap bottle of twist off cap wine for $30, it will suit you. Do not go here if you are looking for an enjoyable mid to upscale dining experience. Atmosphere is nothing more than a bar. Better off trying the Pazzo , Bha Bha down the street or Citrus next door.

I went to cafe Luna in Naples on rt 41 the other night, we had revesavations for eight people we were sat right away, however nobody came to our table for at least 15 min. We all placed our orders and the server asked if we wanted a salad I said yes, ((it was not part of our meal) When we got the salad it was a small handful of lettuce and two croutons with a half a thp. of salad dressing. When the bill came the salad was $9.27 I called the server and complained and he said that's what it cost I told him to tell his boss that I felt that it was a complete rip off. The food was o k but ask for prices before you order anything and don't get the salad its a rip off.. I don't like to get screwed and this place will do just that. Go somewhere else.

This place is great... There are a couple of one star linked to this and guess what? Very wrong! I had a great time with my family, they had a gluten free menu options and the food was just fantastic. My family said that the Garlic knots a must!!!! Service was great, I highly recommend making reservations as this place is always packed! I visit Naples often and this will definitely a regular place for me.

Average food but great price and atmosphere! We ordered the chix parm and chix broc penne. It was pretty good and the service was good as well. $30 for two entrees and a bottle of wine, worth it and we would definitely eat here again!

  • Richard D.

Making a reservation isa waste of time of this place. They will simply do what they please. We had a reservation for 9 and we had to wait an hour after being told "a few moments, we are clearing the table" when they were really just not caring about us.

A great little place on 5th Ave in downtown Naples. Where many of the restaurants are extremely upscale and pretentious, Cafe Luna is for everyone. From families with kids, casual attire to well dressed night goers, it is a mixed and vibrant crowd. The outdoor patio is huge and the food was very good. I had the lasagna, which was homemade and fresh. Additionally, we were able to take advantage of an amazing deal which was 2 dinners from a select menu and bottle of wine for $29.99. You can also upgrade the wine selection for a small fee and it is well worth it. The service was also great and they are kid friendly! I visit Naples once a year and I will definitely go back.

  • Karalinda M.

This is a good place to go if you are looking for a good deal in the right location. It's right off 5th, and there is a nice patio area. They have a deal for a bottle of wine and two entrees, for about $35 I think? Anyways it's a good deal if you are looking for the ambience of 5th but for a deal.

  • Jessie H.

This place is good. We had the 29.99 special, bruschetta, and calamari. Next time I go I'll be getting the pizza and garlic knots. Thé table next to ours had them and they said they were amazing. All of our food was very good and fresh. Best limoncello shots I have had in naples!

  • Cara P.

Service was terrible, took an hour to get a salad and when it came out it was incorrect. Then they never checked to make sure that the food was even okay. Ordered a soda that came out 20 minutes later and it was flat. All in all, one of the worst dining experiences I have had in a long time.

This place is great! It has become one of my go to spots in downtown Naples. Very fair pricing and wonderful food.

I love Cafe Luna! I could just go for the Garlic Knots alone. Big, perfectly chewy, and loaded with fresh chopped garlic. The portions are huge! I always go home with leftovers. The prices are also really reasonable for 5th Avenue. If you like pesto sauce, try the Pesto Pasta with Chicken. You won't be disappointed. The staff is friendly and extremely attentive. It's a great place for groups and families. They have a decent amount of fans running for the outdoor seating, so it's very comfortable in the FL weather. There's usually live music on the weekends.

  • Veronica M.

Very nice place to eat in Naples. We thought it was expensive but turns out it is not. People there are really nice, they treat you really well and they are very friendly. I had an eggplant Parmesan ... extremely good. The place has live music which give the place a special touch. If you sit outside, you get to feel the nice environment in the best part of Naples. If you are around Naples and you want to enjoy a tasty Italian dish and listen live music I'd say this is your place. Enjoy!

This place is great. My wife and I traveled to Naples Florida last year and discovered this place with great outdoor seating. As soon as we saw it we knew we had to eat there. The staff was so friendly and the overall service was great. We are heading back down next week and look forward to visiting again.

  • Madison M.

The service was only ok. We ordered off the two for $30 menu and both of our dishes tasted over salty and like they had been from a can or something. So, food wasn't good either. Won't be going back even though they had a great deal on the two meals for $30 including a bottle of wine.

    (2)
  • Denise C.

We had an exceptional time at Cafe Luna. My mother loved the Stomboli. I was delighted by the bonus of being offered Gluten Free dishes, specifically made with Gluten-free pasta! However I opted for the Chicken salad which was delisioso. We loved the wait staff. They were fun and personable.

Good basic pasta dishes. Service was fine. I mean this is Naples and the $30 for two dinners and bottle of wine was good. But hey I'm a fireman and we don't complain. It was fine.

On St. Patty's day 5th ave was SLAMMED with people. I had my pregnant wife and 2 small children with me trying to maneuver thru the crowds with a stroller. It was not easy. We came across Cafe Luna and the owners were outside. My 5 year old needed to use the rest room and they let him right in. We decided to stay for a pizza and they got us in and seated right away. They offered to take the stroller and put it out back to get it out of the way. Very nice people and the food was excellent. Not overpriced like you would expect for 5th ave. Highly recommended.

LOVE the Veal Saltimbocca! Garlic knots are killer & for an appetizer, the bacon-wrapped scallops are a must order. Everything was cooked to perfection and service was good. ** If you have Foursquare, use the check-in special for a free glass of house wine.

  • Scott J.

Great pizzas and great salads in a nice casual setting right in the center of Fifth Avenue action with plenty of covered outdoor seating. The dinner menu includes a large variety of pizzas and pasta dishes from $15.99 to $27.99. There are good salad options and it is nice that they offer half salad options as well. However, the best deal is the 2 dinners and a bottle of wine for $29.99. The choices for this special area more limited but you really can't beat the value.

    (4)
  • Kathryn E.

Sit outside on a midsummer evening and order the 'special' of 2 entrees and a bottle of house wine for 29.99...you can't beat the price or the ambience. Delicious focaccia bread, decent italian food, excellent service. Must try the house Chardonnay...delectable! Great place to make your local fav.

    (4)
  • Greg C.

Followed the advice of another reviewer and got the Garlic Knots... Good choice! Servings are very large and everyone in our group had to get a To Go box. TIP: If you have the fourquare app on your mobile phone, be sure to check in and you'll get a free glass of the house wine. (as of May '12)

Great food. Service was also top notch fast and friendly. Lobster salad was delicious. The waiter was very accommodating with the kids, happy to split a fish and chips and salad for them. Good selection of artisan beers. Nice patio on the main drag.

  • Michael S.

Good place. We went during a time they were offering two meals for $40 WITH a bottle of wine. Pretty impressive. The meals we ordered were considered an upgrade from the base price. The wine we chose was also considered an upgrade. Still, we ended up at $50 for two people with a bottle of decent wine. I had chicken parmesan. It was served with spaghetti and the piece of chicken was enormous and very tender. If you are looking for basic, fresh Italian food and a great value, you will like this place. Also, the outdoor ambience was enjoyable.

  • Brad W.

Tourist alert! You will see the advertisement in local paper for 2 meals and bottle of wine for $30 bucks. You get seated and the menu lists upgrades and the waitress starts babling about upgrade this and upgrade that, but the only thing you need to add is the garlic Knots. Do not miss these - they are loaded with garlic, doughy and there is a bunch of olive oil in the bottom of the basket to roll them around in if you so desire. Ok, so the wine is probably comparable to the $2.99 section at Trader Joes, but its free and it will wash down your meal. Another good option if you want an appetizer (the waitress was very nice in suggesting items) is to split the $5 ceasar salad or any salad. As for the mains, eggplant parmesan lacked and needed more cheese. The portions on that special menu are still gigantic, so stick with those choices if you go that route. The top piece of eggplant (thin and breaded) was full of cheese, but chef forgot to add more to the other two slices below. This is nothing special, but the chicken parm is above average. Both are served with pasta. Did I mention those Garlic Knots - get them!

I am putting down one star because I have to.. I don't normally write reviews but I feel as though I was misled by the other reviews here.. I know restaurants are not always consistent but our experience last night was terrible. The garlic knots and the rustica salad were very good.. The rest of the food was a waste of money. Chef Boy Ardee would have been better... The sauce was awful and tasted like the bottom of the pot and the pizza came out raw.. The food was sent back and came back out the same.. We watched the servers leave the ice scoop laying in the ice bin after being touched over and over again. We also were a witness to one of the servers picking her teeth with a toothpick while leaning against the bar while waiting for her drinks to be made..Finally, we are not sure if there was an owner or a manager around because nobody visited our table but there was a woman sitting at the bar the entire time barking orders at the servers but not checking tables or walking around.. It was a terrible experience and I don't recommend it to anyone.

A big thumb down to the hostess of Cafe Luna for been in a power trip, cold and unkind person that will make you wait for over an hour and 20 minutes before she would allow you to set on empty tables outside since they prefer to fill those with four people. You will wait for ever if you are only a couple and any party of four or more would get ahead of you unless of course you surrender the right to join the patio and allow her to stuff you in the back like a sardine in a corner table for two. Because I set my grounds we wait for almost 80 minutes. I would never come back to give them my business. Maria G S

Just OK food. Not much imagination or effort put into creating something special. Just average Italian cooking. Seems very crowded, but hard to understand with so much competition on the same street that tries a whole lot harder. Maybe the tourists don't know any better, or care, for that matter.

One of my favorite places in Naples! The food is amazing! My favorite items are the pizza, chicken Marsala, and the pasta with broccoli! And definitely start with the garlic knots! They are incredible. The outside seating is an added bonus. Such an all around fantastic spot on 5th avenue!

Loved this restaurant. The vodka penne pasta worth sausage I ate was over the top. All my companions loved their dishes. But the best of all was the garlic rolls, amazing. I dipped them on the vodka sauce and added a piece poof sausage and it was orgasmic. I saw the meatballs at another table and it looked amazing. The staff is wonderful. Super kind and friendly. if you stop in Naples, this is a must. Was forgetting, prices are super reasonable.

Had the "Veally Good Deal" special. Two dinners and a bottle of wine for $29.99. The portions were nice size. Added a half ceaser salad for $5, half order of garlic knots for $4 and upgraded the wine to a $37 bottle for an additional $10. Total bill was $52 with tax. That was a "Veally Good Deal"! The live music was enjoyable too. The acoustic guitar player was very entertaining. Our waiter was very attentive and stayed on top of making sure we enjoyed our dining experience. Definitely will go back!

Amazing food, great service (thanks Kit) and what a nice atmosphere for a fine dinning slash cafe style place. For the money this is a great place to go when dinning out with a couple, specially for the dinner for two deal.

Good service, but food was average. I had chicken parm and the chicken was very dry. They have a good dinner for 2 price with a bottle of win for $29.99. Single dinners average from $15-$23

On my recent (snowbird) trip from NJ to Naples FL with family and friends I finally got to Cafe Luna on 5th Ave in downtown Naples. The place is always hopping with crowds outside waiting to get in. The reason why there are crowds outside is because of the food that is served inside I ate at Cafe Luna with a party of 6 on 2/21/2013. We made reservations ahead of time on a busy Thursday evening. I suggest to always make a reservation ahead of time because Cafe Luna gets very busy. When my party and I were waiting outside to be seated I observed the Maitre'D Shannon handling all the walk up customers and seating reservations with a smile. Shannon is a pro and does an excellent job out front.keeping the reservations moving with the anxious to eat crowd. On this Thursday night my party was seated shortly and we sat in the front outside area. This also was a great place to sit and watch people walk by. The atmosphere was exciting and the seating was very comfortable. Everyone in my party ordered the $29.99 special dinner deal. The $29.99 Special Deal includes TWO dinners and One standard full sized 750 ml bottle of wine. I am mentioning the "standard full sized bottle of wine" because when I first heard about this special I thought we were going to get much smaller size bottle of wine like a 375 ml (half the standard bottle size). So I was pleasantly surprised when we got a regular size bottle which was enough for 4 large full glasses per couple. So we had three bottles of wine in total at our table. Another big plus about Cafe Luna's $29.99 dinner special is that it is served All day long and every day! So unlike those other restaurants in Naples you don't have to rush out to dinner early just to catch the Happy Hour special that often ends at 6 pm. So the Cafe Luna dinner special gives you the benefit to go to dinner at a normal time for the Happy Hour price! You just can't beat that. For $29.99 you can choose from 7 different Italian meals. All seven choices were very good. The choices were the standard Spaghetti & Meatballs, Eggplant or Chicken Parmesan, Penne Bolognese, Penne Chicken & Broccoli, Tortellini and a Grilled Chicken meal. Cafe Luna lets you upgrade from the basic $29.99 special for only an additional $5 - $10 bucks if you want the more expensive Italian dinner choices. I upgraded my meal for $5 bucks and got the Rigatoni with Pink Vodka Sauce & Sausage. This dish was absolutely delicious and it was the best Italian food I've had in a very long time. The Pasta, the Sauce with the Sausage .... to die for!! The meal portions were also healthy and large. All of my family and friends in my party loved their meal choices. The friendly waiter and staff were really helpful and attentive and did a great job on this very busy Thursday night. From start to finish the service was excellent and it was an amazing dinner experience. While I was eating at my table I happened to notice a few customers as they were leaving stopped to say hello to the owner of the restaurant "Ed" as he sat at the outside bar area. Yes even the residents or "regulars" in Naples know where the good food is. I would definitely recommend to any one who is craving delicious authentic Italian food to go and try Cafe Luna. I can't wait to go back and try the other meals. Cafe Luna also is the BEST deal in town....period! What else can I say? This place Rocks!

Several disappointing and inexcusable problems with the service here. I was dining with a work colleague (party of 2) and the waiter said he was unable to do separate checks!?! No apology - just can't/won't do it. Food was decent quality and the nightly entertainment (guitarist playing along to a karaoke machine) provided a pleasant atmosphere. When it came time to pay the check, the waiter brings an iPad to the table to swipe your card. You have to push a button on the screen to add a gratuity while the waiter holds the thing in his/her hands. Very, very tacky. Oh - and the LOWEST option for gratuity is 20%. You have to push "other" if you want to find the buttons that let you give less than 20%. Final insult - waiter announces he is going to run my credit card in the back because the iPad is "acting up" after my coworker paid his half of the bill. After returning from the back I discover he ran my card for MORE than the initial receipt! Won't come back here, ever.

Happened upon this restaurant while in Naples...and was not disappointed. The place was crowded, so they sat me at the bar where they also serve food. Plenty of TV's to watch and enough light to read a paper. No problem there. I had the Steak Diane. Frankly, the steak was somewhat flavorless, a little mealy even though I had it medium rare. Not a bad place, I'd go back. Nothing exceptional either.

Great Margarita pizza! Cool Bartender, and loved the guitar player...he played flamenco most of the night, then took requests and played Stairway to Heaven and It's Now or Never! It was a great time, great ambience, and great food.

This was a great experience .The atmosphere was fun and the flamingo guitarist was enthusiastic. El Gato is so talented and engaging. Elvis was a personable waiter and enhanced the experience. Enjoyed the food.

Coming from Chicago, I've had exceptional Italian food and this may be one of the only spots in Florida to have it. My parents know the owner exceptionally well so every time we are there it is a treat. Pizza's are good, but I prefer the pasta dishes. Great location on 5th so the inevitable stumble to the next bar is quick and easy!

The "veally good deal" is a great deal! We made a reservation in advance and luckily we did because it was very busy on a Saturday night. Although it was busy the service was still very good. The food was good as well with generous portions. There was live music during dinner that added to the ambience. Overall a great experience and atmosphere for dinner and drinks.

you really get what you pay for at this eatery-thick and uncooked eggplant parm overpowered by the old fried oil in which was heated up-ok penne al ragu(i refuse to call it bolognese sauce)-drinkable light merlot-decent pizza-unacceptable blended oil(sums it all up)given for olive oil-server was the only positive with her help.

Great pizza by the slice where you can choose your own toppings, and their house salad is delicious with a glass of their house Chardonnay. A major plus is their outdoor seating area which is covered and very spacious.

For consistent high quality food & service over years of coming here, I give this the best rating in Naples. Great value, great location, and the absolute best gluten free pasta I've ever had. GF pizza is also the best, with handmade crust & carefully isolated preparation for those of us with sensitivity. You can't do any better than this on 5th Ave.

  • M B.

We sat at the bar because the place was packed. It was hot outside and the inside did not cool us down, and to have hot food on top of that I could not get out fast enough. They only serve beer and wine which is a bummer. The pizza was tasty, definitely a good choice. The mussel appetizer was very good and something I would have again. The food was good but sitting in a warm restaurant on a hot summer night took away from the pleasure of the meal.

Looks like a dive when you drive by. Especially in Naples. However i was there when i was visiting from Boston and had lunch 3 times in a 10 day period great Italian fare. Very good priced. Great outdoor seating so you can people watch I recommend this place for lunch.

I mean for 30 bucks (2 meals and a bottle of wine) isn't too bad... But not great either.. Foreign chicks on work visa's need to be a little more friendly to get 4 stars from me... I mean they are here looking for a green card, NO?!

Great choice for gluten free people. Excellent GF pizza and pasta, and great (non-GF) eggplant parmesan. Previous poster's note about restrooms seems to be no longer true. Ladies room was fine. Also, lovely setting for people watching.

Great casual Italian restaurant. Stumbled upon this place after seeing that it was packed and received good reviews on yelp. My husband and I ordered the veally good deal which was 2 entrees and a bottle of wine. Excellent deal! Had the penne bolognese which was great and my husband paid an extra $5 for linguist with white clams which he said was ok b/c the noodles were slightly overlooked. Wine was your typical basic red/white which you can take home if you don't finish. Overall a great meal.

Went to Cafe Luna over the 4th of July, 2011 and I will not be going back. The prices are pretty reasonable for the area. 2 dinners and a bottle of wine for 30 bucks. On 5th Ave, you can't beat it. Unfortunately, the food was flat out bad. My wife ordered the eggplant parm, and I had the shrimp fra diavolo. Both sauces sucked! We upgraded the bottle of wine for 10.00 and they brought out the cheapest bottle ever. Walmart has it for like 5 bucks. We would have been better off going across the street to Subway. I will atleast end on a good note. The outside seating is great.

This is one of my grandmother's favorite restaurants so we come here every time I visit. Dinner was awesome - their "Veally Good Deal" is a fantastic value (it comes with a bottle of wine and you can take the leftovers home) and the food is awesome. I sort of wish I hadn't eaten so much bread so that I would have had room for the awesome looking desserts. The staff is outstanding, always welcoming, and our most recent server, Rebecca, was super sweet and very attentive. Great outdoor seating and family friendly, but they also have a full bar!

Excellent pizza! Great service! You can't beat their special...'A Veally Good Deal'...2 entrees plus a bottle of wine for $29.99! We eat there at least once a week when we are in Naples! Great outside dining!

They also are offering the special priced dinners which is a good thing but unfortunately this is another restaurant where they add in the gratuity for you(22%) so the waitstaff doesn't fell the need to do their job. I went there with a group of 8, we asked for the children's food to be brought out first, we ordered it while the adults were looking at the menu. Well it ended up coming out last after we had all had appetizers, salad and our other dinners. No apologies either. We hardly ever saw our waitstaff, had to ask the hostess for our water glasses to be filled. The food was ok not good enough to make up for the waitstaffs inattentiveness. Again with so many restaurants on 5th ave there is no reason to patronize this one and have a lousy dinner experience.

I recently dined alfresco at Café Luna while visiting Naples Seemed like sitting outside was thing to do considering most of the restaurants along 5"th Avenue accommodate more outdoor seating than indoor. I particularly liked the giant awning adorned with fans & a mist system. We stayed nice & cool regardless of the 91 degree temp. We shared a smoked salmon salad & ranch house burger. The salad was outrageous & the myriad of flavors worked really well! It was topped with more than a half pound of tasty & tender Norwegian smoked salmon. The, artisan greens, poached asparagus, strawberries and Granny Smith apples with creamy honey lemon dressing complimented the salmon perfectly. The ranch house burger was good. The pulled pork was a little dry & lacked flavor. Fortunately, the burger patty was juicy & full of flavor. They should stick to seafood & leave the badass BBQ to us grill masters. Besides, why is a restaurant specializing in Italian cuisine serving pulled pork???? Café Luna also has an awesome "very good deal menu" where you choose two dinners plus a bottle of wine for $29.99. The place is hopping & I can see why. The food is affordable, tasty & the service is outstanding.

Note to self: do not eat here for Sunday lunch. The constant pounding from the kitchen was cause to walk out if it wasn't for my husband celebrating Fathers Day. Why can't this be done when customers are not here? No matter how good your food is, I cannot enjoy it when I have to listen to pounding. It is already a challenge to eat here because the space is so limited. The outside area is also crowded and uncomfortable though you try with fans and heaters. Then add parking pains during season.... We miss your east Naples place. Please find another, we want to support you and love your food and services.

We were visiting Marco Island and, coincidentally, had friends visiting Naples. So, we met up for dinner. I wanted to like this place more because it was a beautiful evening and we were having a great time. However, despite a nice ambiance and decent food, our server really dropped the ball. After taking our drink order, he never once came around to see if we wanted another round. As my entree was being served, he asked me how it was - before I'd even had a chance to try it. I guess that satisfied the "how is everything" requirement because we didn't see him again for almost an hour when we flagged him down and asked for our check.

Have been here a few years ago and the dinner was great. The lunch, although it looked great was not the best it could be. Pretty place, attentive service, but lacking the flavor to both dishes we had (pictured) We'll continue to try other things, but this visit was a little disappointing.

  • Jenny G.

Horrible! Not sure if I hated the food more or the service. We were excited for the promotion "veally good deal!" Point is that the server never cared to check on us perhaps because we had the "meal deal". I ordered the rigatoni bologness - ground meat was so grained it had a sandy texture. I didn't eat at all. Server finally came came by the table with the bill and I expressed my discontent and he acted as if he didn't hear me. Manager came by either.

I think I decided on three stars because it is just what you pay for. If it were more expensive, I would have to knock a star off. We had a nice time sitting on the patio and enjoying the dinner special. You can have a bottle of wine or 4 beers and choose from a selection of pastas. It was the best deal on the block so we decided to try it. The staff was great and the place was clean. The food, was just ok. Not awful, not awesome. We ate most of it, relaxed, enjoyed our beers and watched people go by. Not a bad way to spend the early part of the evening on 5th street.

Once again I've been lead astray by my fellow Yelpers. What is wrong with you people? This place is a joke, an absolute insult to my taste buds and my Intelligence. I ordered cheese ravioli and I am certain they are serving Ragu or Prego as their marinara sauce and frozen Celentano raviolis from Publix. See the pics - those are commercially prepared raviolis. My husband's dish was cold to the touch. The bite I took before we sent it back was flavorless. Lobster ravioli - commercially prepared as well. Ridiculous. Service was good, our waiter was very nice as were the hostesses. The lobster bisque had zero bits of lobster but tasted decent. They still get 1 mandatory star. Garbage.

If the owner would have named this place after his own country I would have given them 2 stars but claiming this is italian cuisine, i think not! Their chicken parma is by far the worst I have ever had, dry meat and really tasteless sauce and pasta (came with that). Let's not talk about the wine options, Walgreens has a better selection. I was lured in by their really cheap set price menu but it was definitely not worth the aggravation. If all you care is to stuff your belly give it a shot but if you are looking for authentic italian, run way!

Two entrees and a bottle of wine for $30. How good could it be? Excellent, that's how good! We started with the antipasto, and it was big,we took half of it home. We both had the Rigatoni in Vodka sauce with sausage.Excellent again Our waiter was from Jamaica,(Peter),and he was excellent Is this too good to be true? We figured the Merlot was going to be just okay.Wrong, excellent again. The bread was amazing and the live entertainment was excellent! The hostess was very good and personable, making conversation while we waited a few minutes to clear a table,in this very busy restaurant. No attention to detail was left out from the decor to the landscaping. Obviously the owner,Ed Barsamian, takes pride in ownership, and it definitely shoes!

Very family friendly. We had the blackened grouper, shrimp diavlo, and rigatoni with pink vodka sauce and sausage. Everything was excellent. Huge piece of grouper served over a bed of sautéed veggies. The shrimp was cooked perfectly and the pink vodka sauce was excellent. The only thing keeping it from 5 stars was our waitress kind of disappearing after our food was served.

Made reservation through yelp. Arrived early on a prime dinner night in downtown Naples and we were seated promptly, and we even got an outside table. Waiter (Manny I believe) was super friendly, accommodating with my kiddos, and was prompt to take drink orders. Food was tasty, great service, and ambiance was nice as well.

The first time I went with my boyfriend to Cafe Luna, we sat at the bar for beers. It took the bartender 30 minutes to deliver our drinks. Due to time constraints, we gulped down our beer and asked for the check. The bartender took another 30 minutes to deliver the check despite our pleas. Meanwhile, an Australian lady approached the bar to ask why she had an extra charge tacked on to her lunch bill. The bartender told her that it is restaurant policy to add a surcharge for all foreign patrons. I was floored, and so was she. Understandably, she was enraged and told the bartender to remove the charge, and that since the service was so bad, she would not be paying a tip. After she walked away, a regular sitting at the bar started cursing to the bartender about, "those f-ing Brits" and their attitudes. The bartender agreed. Did I mention that my boyfriend is English? A) It is totally unacceptable to express and condone this bigotry. B) The lady in question was not British, but Australian. The idiots got the subject of their ire completely wrong. I vowed never to return. Today, my sister and her friend enjoyed the smells wafting from Cafe Luna as we passed by. I told them of my previous experience and they were disturbed, but wanted to give Cafe Luna another shot. I was wary. But, we were shown a table in a less than half full restaurant at 2:30 pm. We sat down and waited. And waited. And waited. After 10 minutes of no service, we got up and left. Huge disappointment. Twice. There won't be a third time.

This was one of the best Italian meals that my wife and I have had. We had the garlic knots, the tri-colored tortellini and the lasagna; outstanding on all three... Especially the sauces.... The service was great - thank you Julia, and the entire experience was superb. Thanks for making our date night one to remember and we will be back again next year.

  • Jackie R.

Love this place! I've been here a number of times with family and friends whenever I'm in town. The food is always delicious. Garlic knots are awesome as an appetizer. I've only ever had the pasta dishes there and they are always the best. Most recently I had the pesto chicken pasta and it was so delicious! They always have the "Veally Good Deal" which includes two entrees and a bottle of wine (which can be upgraded for a few bucks) for $30. Its always busy there so at prime times be prepared to wait - but the wait is well worth it! I've never made reservations there and never waited more than 40minutes for a table there but it's easy to walk around beautiful Naples to waste time. We were there last week and saw the pizza sent to another table and it looked so good I will probably order that next time! Note that the pizza menu is seperate and you have to ask for it. Definitely recommend this place!

Never been to Cafe Luna before and figured from the good reviews I've heard that my fiance and I would give it a shot. From the street view it seemed very nice, the lady at the door was nice. After being seated, we waited, and waited for a server to come. Finally, the waiter came. He seemed to have a straight face but didn't seem to happy. He brought us some water. Then we didn't see him for a bit, then he came back and took our order. It seemed to go well, then he kept interrupting us when we ordered and wouldn't let us finish talking so he could keep questioning our order, when we weren't finished. We let it slide. After that we waited half hour to 40 minutes for simple pasta dishes. The restaurant had 10 people or less, if that when we got seated around 2:45pm. No reason mediocre food should take that long to cook, nor should the waiter have an attitude. After getting the food, it was just ok, the pasta was cooked ok, kind of hard and the sauce was good. The drinks were good. Lastly, I boxed my meal up and my fiance had her meal boxed up. After 10 minutes of waiting for my fiances meal to come back, he brought the check. Thinking he was going to bring the boxed pasta we waited and he ignored us after dropping the check off. We paid and waited, he never came back and just went to serve another table.

This review really is between 2 and 3 stars. Pro's $29.99 bottle of wine + 2 entrees Great outdoor seating (covered), for good people-watching and enjoying the nice Flordia weather. bread basket came quickly and was refilled as often as asked Good starter salad - the Rustica. Friendly staff Con's We arrived on time for our 8pm reservation. Our table was ready shortly after 8:30. It was Mardi Gras, so downtown Naples was pretty croweded, and they seemed totally overwhelmed Eggplant parm was terrible. Tasted like fried slices of rubber. If someone took me to dinner here, I wouldn't protest, but I don't know that I'd seek this place out again.

I hate doing this but I'm giving Cafe Luna 1 star. I don't know if the people giving it more than 2 stars just spent too much time at the beach, got far too much sun, & this seemed like a magical oasis bc they got water. The only highlight of our dinner was a very nice hostess. The waiter was terrible, @ best. I will say that I think maybe life was just being hard on him that day because he just didn't smile at anyone. We are all entitled to a horrible day every now and then. "Eeyore", that's what I'll call the waiter, got our drink order then came back to ask if we had any questions. So far so good, aside from the resting b*tch face. We did have 1... Do they serve pizza? (In best Eeyore voice) "Yea but only for lunch but I can get you the menu anyway". That was actually really nice of him. And that's where it ended. We never saw him again. The food was brought out by the runner. Normal. Then we never got refills. We sat with appetizer and salad plates littering the table even after our food was brought out. The pizza was ok. Good crust but the sauce tasted like watered down tomato paste. Great if you've had taste bud removal surgery. Bad if you're part of the majority with taste buds intact. The cheese was cheese. So that's good I guess. The fettuccine alfredo w/chicken was a close second to Olive Garden. Take that as you may. The Eggplant Parm was ginormous. I think to make you feel better about paying $19, I think it was, for it. It tasted like sliced eggplant and bread crumbs. "We no likey the sauce eh!" We ordered other things, but seriously, just like the rest of the food it wasn't worth the price and even at a lesser price it wouldn't have made any of us feel better. We had to practically play man hunt to get the bill. That was fun.

TIP: only go here if you are okay with waiting for a long time. I went here on an average weekday evening and it was packed. Very loud, and it took about 2 hours to get our food. We were all starving. I ordered the carbonara which was good but not amazing. Somebody else at my table ordered the chicken marsala which I did think was very good. The best thing I got though was definitely the garlic knots! Those are great. Because of the wait I don't think I would come back to this restaurant, but I imagine it is very similar with most of the other restaurants on 5th avenue.

The cafe was REALLY crowded but they managed to get us a table. We had their "deal" two courses and a bottle of wine for 30 USD (really good offer). The food wasn't fantastic but according to the price it was OK. The service were good and there was live music.

Italian cuisine, live music, and perfect weather made for a fantastic family night out at Cafe Luna. Cafe Luna also has an awesome "very good deal menu" where you choose two dinners plus a bottle of wine for $29.99. This even includes gluten free options! This restaurant was the the worst dining experience myself and my family had while in Naples. We waited for over 45 mins to be seated after our reservation. Once seated we waited another 29 mins before even a water came. The waiter would say each time, I'll be right back and again another 15-20 before we saw him again. Our main waiter spilt water on my mom and another server split spaghetti sauce a on her. The food was just ok. I would never go back.

I was here last night( December 14) with my parents and we NEVER been here. It was delicious!! 10/10 stars for the pizza( parents ordered it I tried it), the pasta with the bolognese sauce was delish and the Garlic Knots( which I never had before) were FANTASTIC!! Parents liked the meal as well. It was noisy but it was only because we were sitting at a table close to the outside area. We are definitely coming here again. Good service too!!! I love this place on 5th Avenue!

If you are looking for a high quality Italian meal for a reasonable price then look no further. Cafe luna has it all from great service to awesome food. Buck, our waiter, blew the pretentious tommy Bahamas out of the water. From now on this is my restaurant of choice in Naples area.

I was really excited to go out for a nice night on 5th ave., it was a special occasion for my borrowed and I. Cafe Luna's menu looked decent so we have it a shot. Big waste of our time and money. The service was horrible and I'm pretty sure that we were serviced Chef Boyardee. Safe your $$ and go elsewhere.

The best Tiramisu I've ever had! I was a little skeptical about Tiramisu as many places skip out on the key Mascarpone, opting for whipped cream and even cream cheese! Dee Dee, the manager made a point of coming over and assuring me their Tiramisu was authentic, and let me tell you: it was! Smooth mascarpone, savoiardi biscuits soaked in just the right amount of espresso and liqueur. Our server was new on the job. It was quite obvious and when I brought it up, we all had a chuckle! I give them props for accommodating us gluten-free people and I have to say that my GF chicken parmesan and pasta was delicious. One of the other servers even came over to chat with us for a bit about his hometown of Long Island, his current home in Fort Myers, and a few other things. This place packs it in all day with tourists and locals. You will probably have to wait to get a table during prime time. Somewhat reminiscent of South Beach Ocean Drive. Recommended!

We sat outside and enjoyed the warmth and sunshine since we were heading back to the cold weather! The waitress was friendly and helpful. Our food was delicious! Service 3 stars from our waiter. Hostess 5 stars! Food: pizza 4 stars. Loved the thin prosciutto, artichokes and Kalimantan olives. But weird charge on the bill-think they charged us for requesting one ingredient on half and another one on the other half. Strange I thought because it came with 4 ingredients and we didn't change those. Desert: 5 stars!!!! Delicious, refreshing key lime pie for me and Tiramisu for my friend! Not a drop left!

Nice location on 5th. I particularly like the outside seating area with the awning to block the sun and the fans/misters to keep it cool. Excellent prices and value with quality product. I had the Rigatoni with Vodka Sauce & Sausage which I loved. I like a lot of sauce, and they definitely do not skimp you here. Get some bread and scoop all that excess up. My wife had the chicken salad which was a massive portion for lunch. I had a few bites and the chicken was tender, a very good dish for a hot day.

3 stars for value! Hard to beat the $29.99 deal for a bottle of wine and two entrees. Food/wine/service was pretty average, but if aren't a retired Snowbird with cash to burn then this is a great place to catch a meal before hitting up some bars.

We looked for a nice seafood place while we spend our last night in Naples , we went to a next door resturant which we found on yelp but when we heard the music playing and we saw its full we decided to eat at Cafe Luna and it was great. It was me and my husband an our 2 year old toddler, and we had a good time. Food was yammi and service was good ( thank you Elvis ) We will come back again in our next visit ))) We recommend the fruti de mare dish that was good and the pineapple juice that my kid enjoyed was fresh and yammi Calamari was ok but the atmosphere made everything more fun:))

There was nothing wrong with our recent visit to Cafe Luna, but also very little that was exceptional. We had the $30 dinner deal - two entrees and a bottle of wine, and upgraded one entree and added an appetizer. The merlot and tortellini were below average; the chicken marsala and meatballs were fine. We don't dine out for Italian often but I thought prices even with the special were only average. Atmosphere was okay - live performer, but playing tired Jimmy Buffett and the like - blech! (personal preference - don't fret, I have deducted no stars). Our server, Elvis, was efficient and friendly.

Enjoyed a wonderful evening at cafe luna tonight with good friends. Two of us shared a special of two meals plus a bottle of Merlot for $29.99. We both had eggplant parmigiana which was right up there with the best I have ever had an I am a fussy Italian that usually doesn't enjoy Italian food at a restaurant. This was as good as it gets. The garlic knots were to die for if you like garlic and olive oil. I will definitely be ordering those again! The signature Luna salad was also very good with lots of fresh ingredients and a delicious honey dressing. I also had a mango martini that was excellent. A great night and we will definitely be back!

If I told you could have two entrées and a bottle of wine for $30 would you assume the quality was high? Of course not. But it's best terrace to be on because it's packed and unlike the other terraces, it's fun. For me, going for dinner is half food half what I can't get at home; people and noise and that's why you go to Luna. The food is certainly decent, the scampi is better than many I have had. Upgrade your bottles to minimize your hangover and enjoy your night in shwankytown!

There are a lot of choices on 5th Avenue. Cafe Luna is a good, friendly, family Italian restaurant. If you are lucky enough to be seated in Taylor's section, you'll be in for a treat. She is genuine, sweet, and knowledgable about the menu. The efficiency in this restaurant is amazing - obviously a well-oiled machine. But you're never made to feel rushed. On the contrary, you feel surrounded by happy people. A nice treat in a cynical world.

I go here to sit at the bar, get caught up on my FOX news and have great food. So to Benjamin D. who wrote a negative review... here's what I have to say about showing FOX as being inappropriate... Saw your message on Yelp about rest. showing FOX news and it being inappropriate. Here's what's inappropriate: What's inappropriate is when the cognitively deficient say uninformed things and remove any doubt in the minds of those around them that they float through life in a constant state of "bumper sticker mentality" as a lame substitute for any semblance of critical thinking. It's apparent you have never watched MSNBC with its daily episodes of race baiting from the likes of Al Sharpton. Or perhaps you have and the Rev. represents the sum total of your knowledge base. Perhaps you have also conveniently missed the fact that Fox viewership surpasses all others by a factor (that's a mathematical term). The implication from your baseless statement therefore, is that most of America is racist which, while conveniently fitting into your bumper sticker rhetoric, is a lie consumed by those who practice victim-hood as a substitute for thinking and researching. No, I suspect the REAL reason there was no one at the bar was that sitting with you would have lowered the average IQ. Go back under your victim rock.

Eggplant parmesan tasted horrible.. Penne bolognese tasted horrible too... I guess that's what you get for $29.99dinner for two and a mediocre bottle of wine. I ordered chicken with broccoli and penne pasta in an olive, oregano sauce... it was better but nothing special.. I got so sick when I returned to my hotel room, never again

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.

Pizza

Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.

Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.

Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.
