Very popular with our family. The ice cream is truly excellent. Watch out they only have one size milk shake and its large. It's delicious but it's real big. How do you feel about cows? At Hopkins they are right next to the shop. They are very visible. Let's just say cows don't make fine French perfume. They do have their our unique farm aroma. It's strong but it's authentic. The kids all complain and then run over to see the cows. They also have a large play area with a kid friendly tractor and castle.

Absolutely Amazing Ice Cream. YUMMY!!! We have been a few times this summer and my family loves to go see the cows especially the baby cows. I love that when I tell them that I need a single scoop in a bowl for my dog they ask if I want it to be sugar free. More benches and picnic tables would be nice

Yay to seeing a bunch of cows laying around/chillin' by the outdoor ice cream shop! Haha. They had so many fun flavors here, I just had to try a bunch! I had their candy crunch, cappuccino delight, peanut butter ripple, brownie and moo cookie. All were tasty!! I believe I got two kids' scoops for $3.50ish.

This ice creams delicious! I had the candy crunch. My girls ordered mint chocolate chip and strawberry. They have a nice playground for the kids and a shaded picnic table or two that you can enjoy your ice cream at. Yes, it smells like cow. It's a dairy farm. It smells like happy, healthy cows that make delicious milk. This is our second trip and we'll be back!

The ice cream here was very, very good. Probably the freshest tasting ice cream I've ever had. Why three stars you ask? Because the farm smell was overwhelming. Relax, I'm well aware that it's a farm and farms don't smell good, etc. but DAMN!!! Maybe it was a combination of a really hot day and the wind blowing a certain way, but it was unbearable. The smell was even worse under the awning near the windows where you order. It's almost like it just gets trapped under there and bakes. I wandered over to the little play area and sat at a picnic table in the shade and it got a little better. I wish they would let you see the cows so you could at least commune with the creatures creating the awful stench. In conclusion: order your ice cream and then sit inside the comfort of your air conditioned car so you can properly enjoy it.

Delicious! Friendly ice cream store, tried various flavors and got awesome chocolate banana walnut! Right around the side of the building where you order is the dairy! See the cows eating and drinking and relaxing, big tanks for the dairy, fun to see! FYI - only 4 stars because I only liked 1 of the 2 flavors I tried. The Delaware Fruit contained fresh peaches and blueberries, and the blueberries were frozen solid and icy, didn't blend flavor with the ice cream, so think so of the recipes had good ingredients but needed some improved methods of blending - such as maybe slightly cooking the fruit before adding or using smaller berries so not as many icy chunks.

They craft their very own homemade ice cream with milk from their traditional herd of cows and take great pride in producing a premium yet affordable ice cream for the family. We were at the Outlets in Rehoboth when I decided that I NEEDED ice cream. I was past a craving, it was a bodily need to have ice cream in my hands. So I looked up the closest creamery, knowing that there are tons of cows around here! BOOM! 6 Miles from the outlets was this prized farm. I ordered a double scoop which came to $4.50 in coconut and pistachio. My boyfriend got a double scoop as well, his flavor was brownie. The coconut ice cream was the best I have ever had, the pistachio wasn't good at all. It had way to many nuts in the mix and the ice cream was missing a flavor to it, however, the coconut made up for this as well as the bite of my boyfriends brownie flavored ice cream. His dish was so much more creamy then my two flavors. Coming here has made me believe in the small farmer - how important it is to the community - how much fresher the food! It makes me happy every time I think of a creamery!

Hold your nose and go. The ice cream is homemade and very rich. The lines can run long at times. Ideal for kids there is an outside play area and you are right on the dairy farm property so can be an educational experience for little ones from non rural areas who think ice cream comes from a box in the supermarket. I would bring some water with me, too.

5 stars! Stopped here on a whim for ice cream and we were so happy we did. Tons of flavors, cute farm, and HAPPY COWS!!!! After we ordered (a scoop of peanut ripple and a scoop of espresso) we walked around the corner to peek at the cows.... Thrilled at what we found! Fresh clean hay, huge fans blowing on the cows, fresh water, little baby in her own stall, great to see!!! Check this little gem out!

Do yourself a favor next time you are out for food in Lewes or Rehoboth Beach. Skip the dessert menu after dinner, drive past the dairy queen and ice cream stores in town, and take a nice ten minute ride down the road to this GEM. Real, creamy, farm fresh ice cream from the source. Order small unless your really craving ice cream, the servings are heaping. Also prepare for the overwhelming smell of cow (small price to pay.) Then sit back and enjoy this delicious summer treat. Had the cookie dough and mint chocolate chip, and there are a dozen more flavors I'm looking forward to. Next time though. Go. Go now. Just do it.

This is a great spot to get ice cream in the Lewes/Rehoboth Beach area. It's nice to get away from the "hustle and bustle" of the beach and enjoy great homemade ice cream on a rural farm setting. This ice cream is as good as it gets for homemade. There is a vast variety of super creamy ice cream flavors which you can get on a variety of different cones or in a cup. You can choose multiple toppings as well to make a Sundae if desired. It is located on a farm so the kids get a chance to see the cows that produce the milk for the ice cream, and there is even a play area for the kids to play while you enjoy your sweet treats on the many picnic tables. The prices are modest, and overall it's just a great place to go at the end of the day to enjoy a sweet treat. I recommend this place 100%!!!

Very good homemade ice cream. For me, I'd like a bit stronger flavor to the ice cream. Pistachio needed more pistachio flavor in the ice cream itself, pineapple-orange needed a stronger pineapple flavor, peaches and cream needed a stronger peach flavor. Maybe they use no artificial flavors, so the overall flavor isn't as strong as if additional flavoring was added. Efficient service, good setup with ordering at one set of windows and picking up at another set of windows. Cows on side at the property add to the "experience" of eating farm fresh ice cream. I'd go back if I am in the area again.

We were on our way back from ocean city my mom randomly points on this place there was a huge line (went by quickly ) and it smelled like cow but that seems to be the whole point ... BEST ICE CREAM I've had in a really long time . We got black cherry ( not usually a fan but was amazing ) coconut (by far best recommendation pick this if anything ) , chocolate chip (amazing ) and pineapple sherbet ( a little too sweet for my liking ). Overall best ice cream so glad we randomly stopped here .!

I like farms and don't mind the odors that come with them. The smells, the buildings and the pace of farms remind me of my youth. Hopkins is first a farm, a dairy farm. I smells like a farm with lots of dairy cows. The layout and the buildings are that of a barnyard. Most importantly, the ice cream is the best - wow! It's popular, so be prepared to wait for delivery. That is delivery at a farm pace. We keep going back and hope to for as long as we can ignore our waste lines. I don't mind the wait, the pace.

Hopkins Farm Creamery is a Land O Lakes dairy farm with an ice cream stand attached to it. It's by far the best ice cream at the beach. You can tell because it's crowded all the time. The ice cream is made here daily. My favorite flavors are peanut butter ripple and mint chocolate chip. There is a playground for the kids and some picnic tables available if you want to eat the ice cream there. The only drawback is the smell of the cows. Some days it gets a little overwhelming so you would want to get the ice cream to go. Other days you don't notice the odor. Regardless, this is a fun place to try out if you are at Lewes, Rehoboth or driving back home from any of the Delaware beaches. It's on Route 9 (Lewes Georgetown Hwy).

Wow. Great ice cream! Doesn't get any better and this is coming from someone who is able to enjoy the famous Ample Hills Creamery in Brooklyn. Super fresh and delicious. Well worth the little extra drive time off the main highway. This is an actual working dairy farm. Fun to watch the cows. When we were there a new baby had just been born. So sweet. My daughter loved it. There is also a small play ground for the kids. Highly recommended.

This ice cream is so creamy and smooth and there are just so many flavors. My only negative was the cow smell but I guess it's part of the experience. They are so huge- you never see them this close so they look even bigger.

We call it stinky ice cream because the cows are in the back and the ice cream is in the front, and that can make for a pretty pungent experience on hot nights with a strong wind. That said, this place is more of an experience than just an ice cream stand. The ice cream is super creamy homemade ice cream with fresh ingredients in it. It's really really really fresh. The staff is always polite and pleasant no matter how badly slammed they are. My only criticism is it would be nice if they added some picnic tables.

Wonderful ice cream, including a sugar free vanilla, but be aware that their portion sizes become inconsistent when they are very busy, In the summer, try their delaware fresh fruit flavor, local blueberries and peaches. Everyone I know loves their peanut butter ripple.

Awesome ice cream place. Love their brownie ice cream and it really tastes fresh and homemade. Every time I'm in the Rehoboth area I make it a necessity to stop here for ice cream. It's one of my favorite places and would recommend it to anyone. I promise you won't be disappointed.

This is a spectacular ice cream place to stop right after a long hit day on the beach. They have numerous amounts of flavors like a mint chocolate chip, or just a plain creamy vanilla ice cream. It is an amazing place for kids with a small playground close by the tables that were shaded under some trees. They also had cows right next to the tables. The smell if cow is everywhere. We witnessed a new born cow that was only a hour old. Overall, I would recommend this creamery.

If you want good, perfect ice cream....come to Hopkins. It is right on the farm! Yeah, it may smell a bit....but that's because there are cows about 10 feet away from you when you're ordering their sweet udder treats. I got the pumpkin pie with peanut butter sauce last time...it's the freaking best. They also have gluten free options and tell you what has nuts. If you're in Rehobeth, it's worth checking out!

"I Scream... We all Scream... It don't get much better than this Ice Cream!" I just made up there new slogan! But it is so true. My wife and I decided to take an impromptu trip to the beach and we happen to stumble upon this place on the way. After 2 hours or so in the van with 3 children under the age of 7 we were glad for the break. After standing in line smelling the cows that gave up the milk to make the ice cream... once we tasted the ice cream all was forgotten. DAMN, that ice cream was good. I had mint chocolate chip and strawberry cheesecake and my wife opted for pistachio. Mine was so sweet and creamy I was in heaven. My wife's was so full of pistachios that there was a 4-5 nuts to one spoonful ratio. #AWESOMETASTIC to say the least. My kids had strawberry cheesecake, orange sherbert, and lemon water ice. My oldest and I had the same flavor so I didn't bother mooching off of him my middle son didn't allow me to try his it was under lock and key. But my oldest did and I heard him comment on just how "orangy" it tasted. Yes I did take some of the water ice from my 21 month old daughter... I had to test it to make sure it wasn't poisoned, yeah. That is my story and I am sticking to it. Boy was I glad i got a spoonful of that too... It was great as well, very "lemony" and not too sour. Bottom line: I can't wait till we take another random road trip and get to stop at this place again. Hell... We might just take a trip here for the ice cream and forgo the beach and go back home after we get ice cream to eat and some to take home as well...

Sooo good! It does smell like a dairy farm so you may not want to stay and eat there but who cares. The ice cream is so good. Pineapple orange was delicious. tastes like vacation. My husband got cookie dough. Normally a boring choice imo but it had, literally, the largest cookie dougj chunks I've ever seen in ice cream.

Just phenomenal. Ignore the smell while in line; it's hot, and they have cows here. Rum-raisin is a must. Delaware fruit and peaches and cream are made from local fruit, and are also go-to flavors. Open til 11 on friday and Saturday nights!

Stop fussing about the fact that this ice cream is made with milk that comes from real cows, and enjoy the no-frills farm atmosphere and the amazingly delicious ice cream. The pistachio is, as others have reported,absolutely chock full of whole pistachio nuts, and I also appreciate that the ice cream is a natural color rather than dyed. My husband reports that the cookie dough ice cream was also delicious.

When I was a kid, my parents used to send me to my grandparents' farm in the summer to "keep me out of trouble." Now that my grandparents are no longer around, I had forgotten how terrible their farm smelled until I was not-so-subtly reminded at Hopkins Farm Creamery. Anyway, we went here at night, and it was pitch black, so it felt like we were driving into the middle of nowhere, but it's probably only 5 miles from town. The ice cream is great. I mean, how could it not be? The cows are 20 feet away. And the milkshakes are huge. [In case anyone is wondering, "cappuccino delight" is basically coffee ice cream with chocolate chunks.] But we had to get ours to go, as the smell was a bit too much for us city folk.

After an exhausting afternoon at the beach -- really *exhausting* amounts of lying about doing nowt -- we sojourned up the road to Hopkins Creamery rather than King's Homemade in the center of town. So glad we made the trip! The ice cream here is creamier and scooped in bigger portions, both of which make for happier kids and adults alike. Besides which, you can go around the corner and see the cows whose milk went into the ice cream you're eating (though you can also smell them before you see 'em _if you know what I mean_). Highly recommended!

We live near the Hopkins Creamery and pass it often. It's hard not to stop in, especially in the late afternoon. Sometimes I skip lunch, so I have an excuse to get a "hold-me-over" cone or shake. But, hey, any excuse is a good excuse. The ice cream is top notch; creamy and flavorful, as fresh as it can be, with no extra additives or colors. (Warning: the Pistachio is white, and the Cherry Vanilly is red.) The only chewy parts are the cookie dough chunks, coconut flakes, or brownie bits. There 30 flavors to choose from, although they could use one or two more sugar-free selections. It smells a bit on a warm day, but it IS a working dairy, and the cows are an integral part of the process. A couple of minutes and you stop noticing. No Baskin-Robbins or Dairy Queen has anything like this. We bring all our guests here, and it's a big, cheap hit! The Creamery is just a few minutes off the Coastal Highway, and it's easy to get to and back for beach visitors. I recommend this place to anyone, young or old, with family or alone, looking for a great, quick treat.

There is normally a difference between bubble gum and ice cream. When you eat bubble gum, you are prepared to chew it--but when you eat ice cream, you aren't. Who wants ice cream gum, raise your hands?! Friday morning we headed out of DC for a weekend at the beach and got a recommendation from a restaurant in Easton (we made a detour to get some Que at The BBQ Joint) to visit Hopkins Farm for some fresh, delicious ice cream. Fresh - no doubt. Delicious - me thinks not. My BF and I each ordered three flavors in a cup (which, incidentally is enough ice cream to feed a village and not recommended). I had the candy bar, butter pecan and moo cookie. He had the black raspberry, vanilla and pistachio. Neither one of us made it to the flavor on the bottom of the cup, or even halfway through the middle scoop for that matter. This ice cream is NOT normal...and not in a good way. Chewing ice cream (and I really do mean chewing, though it is hard to imagine) doesn't resonate with me. In theory, the idea of getting ice cream that was just recently grass sounds very nice indeed, but not in this case. I'm not sure what the issue is, but I'm guessing that since it is all natural ice cream and therefore likely not some chemical reaction, it probably is a super high butterfat content that causes this "chewy" issue. It litterally was if we were chewing on butter. Haagen Daaz is rich, this was ridiculous. I literally put a spoonful on my spoon and turned it upside-down. We watched it for a good couple minutes according to the car clock, and it NEVER MOVED. Not even a tiny slip. Not even a drip. I've never seen anything like it. Sadly, it was just too much and we threw them out without even eating 1/3. We should have just waited until we got to Rehoboth and got in line at Dickey's Custard (where the almond praline is TO DIE FOR). Moo.

Just went here Friday Night after spending the weekend down at my Girlfriend's Beach house in Milton. I've got to say this was the best Vanilla Ice Cream I've ever had. The flavor was perfect and the texture was super creamy but not to the point it was liquid. Can't wait till we go back and this time I'm getting a Triple Scoop! If I could I would give it 10 Stars.

Ahhh.. it's time to unleash my ** 100th REVIEW ** YES!!!! I feel so accomplished. My 100th review is dedicated to this delectable little creamery on a farm in Delaware. It'll be a "1st to review" as well as a personal 100th review.. I have dreams of this ice cream. It's about the best ice cream I've ever tasted in my life. So I share this little place with you, my dear fans and readers (all 14 of you)... Driving down to the husbone's father's house near Lewes DE, it's hard to miss the big silo with the cream cones on it. It's enough to spark big ice cream dreams. Off the beaten path from the shores along the Delaware coastline, this little gem of a farm churns rich, buttery, ice cream straight from the cow's milk themselves. Driving up, you'll see cars parked all along the side of the road with lines wrapped along the side of the farm. First thing, you get a big whiff of cow poo.. now THAT'S a real farm.. For those faint of smell, you can always pick up the prepackaged pints and quarts of ice cream that they sell. But for those who want to enjoy the fresh ice cream on a warm cone, enduring the scent of cow poo is a right of passage. A 30-min wait in the middle of a farm with breezes of cow poo passing through could lead one to insanity because the smell is so pungent at times. But it really is well worth the wait.. Creamy, rich, buttery, and delicious, this ice cream is made with 14% butter fat content. So if you are looking to lose weight and eat ice cream, go try the Frozen yogurt fad because you are not wanted here, this place is for real ice cream lovers. Offering 18 different flavors (many of the fruit flavors are made from fruit locally grown on the farm or nearby farms), they charge by the ounce. 55 cents per ounce. It could get pricey if you decide to get 4 scoops of ice cream, but this pay by the ounce mentality works well for families with small kids. They also offer sundaes, milkshakes, root beer floats, and banana splits as well. I have yet to taste anything better or fresher than this little ice cream joint in the middle of nowhere. It's like the Shangri-la of ice creameries...

Delicious and reasonably-priced ice cream! Lots of flavors to choose from, and a single scoop is only 2.50. I had the chocolate walnut banana, which was creamy and chocolaty and delicious. Friends had the chocolate chip cookie dough, butter pecan, and strawberry cheesecake, and everyone was really happy with their selections. My only complaint is that, being on a farm, it reeks of cow, which I guess means the ice cream is really fresh, but the cow smell isn't really all that appetizing.

After a rough, traffic-filled ride down to the Delaware beaches on Friday night, I decided to take a little detour off Route 1 and reward myself with some homemade ice cream. The Creamery was extremely easy to find as it is literally just a few miles off Route 1 and well marked. The other dead give-away that I had found what I was looking for was the number of cars heading in and out of the parking lot. For someone who has been coming to the area almost every summer weekend for years, this is the first time I had ventured this way off the main roads, and I definitely felt like I had found the local hot spot for a gorgeous summer evening. Hopkins Farm offers an extensive list of ice cream flavors that includes classics like chocolate chip cookie dough and mint chip as well as local/season flavors, including one flavor that featured peaches and blueberries grown at Fifer Orchards. The menu also had low-fat, no-sugar, and non-dairy options as well. Scoops are generously sized and the sundaes and milkshakes that I saw being ordered looked scrumptious. The staff was super friendly and efficient and promptly served the decent size crowd graciously and with a smile on their face. Their prices are reasonable, particularly by comparison to what is charged by the chains that are prevalant throughout the area. I ordered two kid-sized scoops - one Moo Cookies (cookies & cream) and one peanut butter ripple. The Moo cookies was by far my favorite, if only because I prefered its sweet cream base over the chocolate base of the peanut butter one. This ice cream is definitely homemade and the higher butterfat content makes it super rich and yummy (although it does take some getting used to when one is accustomed to the likes of Baskin Robbins or Breyers). All in all, my trip out to Hopkins Farm was the perfect antedote after several hours in the car fighting traffic to get down to the beaches. I will definitely be making a return visit and will introduce my family and friends to it on our next trips down to the area.

In all my 45 NYC years, I have never had ice cream as good as the cream at Hopkins. This review is shared by my wife & 2 sons. The Chocolate Banana Walnut & the Vanilla Peanut Butter Swirl were outstanding. My son's exotic Pineapple/ Orange shake delivered. My oldest son loved his Chocolate Brownie & Mint Chip flavors. Be ready for the smell of cows & many flies, and keep your eyes open to find this gem because they have limited signage. How do I invest?
