Delivery is horrible. 90 minute wait and we got cold pizza. Horrible! Very expensive pizza. Very tough crust.

Let me start by saying how excited I was to see that Abo's was coming to Erie. Both my wife and I went to college in Boulder and Abo's was a weekly, sometimes daily destination. Unfortunately, the nostalgia is killed by waiting over an hour every time we've ordered. The first time we ordered I called after an hour and twenty minutes and the person that answered said it was on its way, funny thing she was also the same person that delivered the pizza (don't know how that's possible). Doubt we'll order from here again. Sad, because the pizzas good.

Solid pizza, great service. A bit expensive for what it is, but I'll check out the coupon deals to rectify that issue.

Way overpriced and lack service. For a bowl of undercooked penne pasta, salad, a half dozen garlic knots and a regular size soda I had to pay over $18! I didn't have time to go anywhere else unless I wanted to eat a candy bar for lunch so I paid it- never again. The staff never checked on me after delivering the product and I still bussed my own table. Shameful!!

I love Abo's pizza but the service at this location is horrible. So horrible to the point I've given up. One time it took an hour and a half to get a pizza delivered less than a mile, and they were not busy. If you go in to get a slice, be prepared to wait for a long time for a re-heated slice. They never answer the phone either. It's really too bad because it's good pizza but it's not worth the trouble.

Abos pizza is ok! Their pizza is excellent but their service is lacking immensely. We tend to meet friends there because it's close and they have offer glutton free pizza. The bar is pretty much the focal point, which isn't much at all. The kids like that they have a few games to play while the adults sit and talk. Nothing really to rave about but I give them three stars because they are close and serve great pizza. They have delivery as well.

We really used to like this place and I've always enjoyed the pizza. Over the last year this place has plummeted. Walls and floors are disgusting. The video games my son plays had nasty brown stains all over the buttons. When I walked in the other night around 6, it looked like no one had cleaned a table for hours. As we all know, Erie has a lot of pizza options. It astounds me that the owners have let it go this bad. I am writing this review hoping that this place turns around because I love NY style pizza and I would love to be a frequent diner.

There are some Abos that are great like this one, and others I wouldn't go in again. Pizza was great and my salad was actually fresh. Friendly quick service and hot good food with a bar and TV.

The pizza was reminiscent of the Abo's I enjoyed on the Hill during the 80's while attending CU. That Abo's is long gone, but I still enjoyed stopping in this location. Super friendly owners. It's a nice little locals spot here in Erie. The generous cheese slices were perfectly thin and slightly crispy. Enjoyed a cold Stella at the bar. I'm from NJ, and this is good pizza.

Good pizza, terrible service - been on 3 consecutive Wednesday's & got reprimanded all 3 times - main lady employed only wants to watch hockey - shame an employee for wanting to watch something else. And DO NOT take one of the 2 condiments trays on the bar to your table (in a completely dead restaurant) to season your pizza "other people need it". BLAHHH!

    (2)
  • Annette L.

90 minutes for delivery! Horrible! Ice cold on arrival! No idea on quality, need to heat up for another 10 minutes before eating! 100 minutes for dinner, ridiculous!!!!!!!

Meh. Good for emergency 'oops we ruined dinner' nights, maybe. I like the crust, but there's nothing really outstanding about the pizza to comment on. Employees are sub-par. B. was charged for two beers instead of one when he stopped in for pickup, (there's a small bar inside) and they wouldn't or couldn't refund his money for the beer he didn't get. They DID offer to give him a second beer, but he'd have to drink it there, and it's not a good idea to drink two beers in the time it takes to make a pizza. So they said they'd 'owe him one.' Yeah, uh huh. The second visit we came to eat in to get away from the incessant noise of our neighbors getting their carpets cleaned. We ate less than half of a large pizza, then decided to get a box for the rest. A large pizza does not fit in a medium sized box, unless you layer them, and that's no good, but for some reason we could NOT convince them to give us a large box to fit our leftover large pizza. We had to put on our spacial creativity hats to fit everything in the box they did give us, but we managed it. The sad part is the only reason we tried Abo's in the first place was because Slice's was closed even though their hours on the door claimed they were open. We will continue to go to Lafayette instead of Erie for decent pizza!

It is new York style Pizza. What's not to like? The crust is good, sauce is good, and the toppings are great. Go here and you won't be disappointed. My only criticism is that it does take a while to get it, whether you get it delivered or just get a couple of slices to eat there, expect to wait. It also is a little pricy for being NY style pizza. I wish it was a little cheaper and we would totally order it more often, and we do eat a lot of pizza.

I've only been to this location once. The pizza was ok - somewhat lacking in flavor though (bland) and the crust was tough. We ordered a four-cheese with pineapple on one half and pepperoni and mushrooms on the other half. The pizza at the Broomfield location has better flavor. The cheese bread was really good. Price - a little on the high side. The bill surprised us. The dining room is much nicer than the dining room at the Broomfield location. Nicer tables and chairs, with a bar and a flat-screen TV.

My star rating has nothing to do with the quality of Abo's pizza. Let's face it, Abo's pizza in general is yummy! However, why do they have a full bar when they do not serve customers? We have tried to get a slice of pizza and have a drink at least 3 times now, each time we walked in and sat at the bar and waited...and waited...and waited... The manager always sitting in the office, watching what appears to be television. The kitchen taking turns going out back. HELLO....ANYONE HERE??? For a pricey, casual, pizza joint the service stinks. I would rather go over to Slices, grab a slice and a beer, and receive the service a customer deserves.

  • David A.

In general, I like Abo's cheese pizza by the slice better than any other that I have found. Usually, the crust is really good and so is the sauce and it has the right amount of cheese where I often find the pizza has more cheese than I want. I like the crust to be crisp. However, I have been to the Erie Abo's several times and found their pizza to be far inferior to the other Abo's around the area. I have given up on them and only grab a slice when I am near a different Abo's. It is sad, becasue Erie really needs some good restaurants.

  • Jeremy T.

I find the pizza here to be very bland if you get it delivered to your house. If you eat it at the location, they have a battalion of toppings for you to put on it to make it how you want it, which I always do if I eat there, or get it to go, but rarely ever do delivery for that option isn't there. It is great if you are at Leonard's Golf, which shares the parking lot.

The pizza is good but seems way more expensive than the abo's in boulder. The staff has been very rude each time i've gone in there. once when i went in the staff member who was working sat at the bar with his back to me watching TV and only helped me when there was a commercial break. I ordered pizza tonight for delivery and when I asked for a delivery order the server on the phone let out a frustrated sigh. I'd rather pay less for pizza and deal with friendly staff who don't treat their customers as an inconvenience.

Bland is definitely the word. I shouldn't have to add my own spices to my pizza. Otherwise it was fine but I'd rather order from someone else.

Abo I am writing for take out and being kind as of this rating. I love ABO's on the hill, I lived right by there and went very frequently. I was so happy that a ABO was here in Erie. I've been there a few times and delivery only once, did need to do it again. The pie that was at my door was dry, not much sauce and favor didn't make it through the door. I called to tell them that my pie was not good, and I was met with I make pie, I made yours, it's a good pizza, the correct amount of sauce and very good! I was shocked to say the least, there wasn't even a hint of sorry you didn't enjoy it. I the customer was wrong and it should be my honored to be able to enjoy the culinary talent of chef and owner. I took several years off and only recently went back, while I ate in and didn't dare take delivery again, there are abuse lines I can dial for that the pie was not OMG, it was ok! Erie needs really good restaurants we are a growing market and population. Pizza not the original, service could be better and for the price I'm not impressed.

Abo's is a nice little pizza place. It's not a totally unforgettable gourmet experience, but they have yummy pizza, big slices and video games for the kiddos. If you find yourself hungry and in Erie, Colo., this is probably your best bet.

I'm from NY (LI) originally and you can't find pizza that good in CO but this is about the closest you can get here. Original Pizza in Broomfield is good too and (for some reason) the Abo's in Superior is quite a bit better but this is good if you're looking for pseudo-NY style pizza in the area.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.

Pizza

Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.

Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.

Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.
