Yummy yummy yummy! We really dug this place, and 100% echo all other reviews on here. The food was great, the service was AWESOME, and there's about 900 other things on the menu that we are dying to try. I'd like to see this place get into a new location, because it really does feel like the location should be a laundry-mat or something. Regardless, the funky locale is the least of our worries when the food is as GRUB as it is! If this says anything - It's rare that we go for breakfast or lunch on the weekends, and last weekend we went twice! Both times were to the delicious Beach Break Cafe! Keep it up Beach Break! We'll be back (with Arnie's accent).

This place is awesome! The food is delicious and the service is fast and courteous. I had the On Fire scramble and my wife had the California omelet. Our food was out quick and it was amazing! But not as amazing as the coffee cake. Honestly the best I've ever had. I'd recommend this place to anyone!!!

This place is amazing!! I live in the LA area so I dont get to have it as often as I'd like but whenever I'm in the Oceanside area i make sure to stop in here. The banana nut crunch french toast is to die for! It's a little sweet but i'm a sweets person. I've considered driving the hour and a half drive to come here for breakfast even, then i came to my senses and didn't but i would if I had company from out of town visiting or something. They also have great coffee cake as well.

Okay... Not great but certainly good. I"m an eggs, bacon, toast, and fruit girl and I never ever deviate. One breakfast item, that I've noticed people raving about is the Banana Crunch French Toast....and with good reason. It is AA-MAZING! My hubby has only deviated from the french toast once and got a ham & cheese omelet, which he also really liked. On the weekends, you absolutely must get there by 8 am or you will have a wait which has typically reached 30 minutes by 8:30-8:45. If you do end up with a wait, the coffee outside is nice.

Went there for breakfast yesterday. Best corned beef hash I've had in San Diego so far. Potatoes were well cooked and not rushed like a lot of places do. Coffee was a little weak by my standards, but who cares; the food was great! Good service as well. Will definitely be going there again.

One of my favorite, if not my absolute favorite breakfast place. Such a good menu, if you like traditional, spicy, or sweet they have it. Love the coffee bar for waiting...and such a fun vibe. The banana crunch french toast is something we always order. I usually get the chorizo omelet or the spicy sausage scramble. YUM!!! Oh and you get your choice of toast or coffee cake...COFFEE CAKE!!

food just like mom would make - gotta love it. The only down side is the wait can be a killer, but i always grab a cup of coffee & meet someone new !!

this is for the NEW location :) really cute place. what amazing banana crunch french toast! probably the best french toast i've had. i love the new location because it's bigger and cuter! i can understand why there is a long wait for breakfast

Good down to earth breakfast & service. Super busy on the weekend so come early or prepare to wait.

We were in town looking for a home due to relocation. We read about this place on Yelp and decided to try it out. The place was very crowded, yet we were seated within 15 minutes. Our food was served within 10 minutes. The banana crunch french toast is incredible. The bacon is super crispy and not greasy...just the way I like it. Great atmosphere, great service! I imagine we will become regulars after we move.

Old place, new place, still great food! I have been going to beach break cafe since the 90's and to be honest, have never even eaten the breakfast! I order the same thing every time, a beach break burger with cajun fries and it's THE best burger around. Ok, I have had the mouth watering coffee cake too. Everyone I bring there loves the food and the people are nice and professional. Although a smidge of the charm has disappeared since the move, this place is well worth a visit! It's a shame they don't stay open at dinner time!

I was at this place for breakfast on a Monday. it was CROWDED... however, the wait was not that long... Food is ok. Nothing to be impressed over. The service was good. If you're visiting the town and need a place to have a good breakfast, this is the place to be.

Their special crunchy banana french toast with turkey sausage is so good, I can't get around to trying anything else. Service just ok outside. Didn't like my coffee and last time asked them to brew a fresh pot. Not sure what's with that, but otherwise this is a new fave in a great south Oceanside location.

I love the crunchy banana French toast and I don't even like bananas! Portions are huge! I thought to give this place a 4 star but realized that's not something they can prevent. If it's good, it's gotta have a long time. Maybe next time I go, the new buildout store will be done! Overall yummy food and worth the wait!

Best breakfast in north county. They are always busy and usually there is a wait but they move quick and it's rarely more than 15 minutes, have some coffee and enjoy good looking people watching. Haven't missed with anything on the menu but favs are spicy chicken machaca omlette and the veggie omlette with real hashbrowns mmmmmm

Read the reviews on yelp to find a good stop on our Sunday ride, this won out! When we pulled up we all looked at each other wondering if someone was going to be disappointed since it looked like an old gas station!!! Wrong we were, Very random layout but Very good food!! Trust the fellow yelpers I say. Ordered the Banana Crunch and ate every last bite!!!! Yum Yum Yum! Hubby got the omelet as usual and dove into my meal after finishing his, they are that good! They sat us 5 min. before closing time and we sat out on the "sidewalk" patio. It was chill-

Ive been here before and I went again this weekend. This place is truly glorious. I am amazed time and time again how yummy it is and the portions are on point. They expanded and I am glad because it isnt as crowded and I love the outside seating. Although I do have to admit that I wish they had like a mosquito net to cover the patio from scary flies and unwelcomed critters. The food is yummy.. I had the special ommelette of the day...w spinach, jalapeno jack and cheddar cheese, mushrooms, and bacon. = foodgasm. The cheese was melty and the shrooms fresh and flavorful. Toasted hash browns and some toast with their homemade preserves (or Jam.... what I like to call it). Also ordered a small stack of pancakes which were a little thick for my taste but non the less... yum food shmorgasborg! My counterpart ordered an ommelette as well with home fries, melted cheddar cheese on top, and a coffee cake. Yum. I had to nab a couple of bites of the coffee cake and the service was really good. They dont offer iced coffee on the menu but you can order it and they are really attentive to the customers. Overall I really like this place and the service. Thanks Morning Break :)

BIG shout out to TAWNY for some of the best customer service we have had in ages. I had the Corned Beef Hash. THE best homemade hash EVER. Lots of hash mixed with home fries, green onions and fresh cheese. Compliments to their chef! Fresh squeezed orange juice. Tawny kept our coffee mugs hot and filled like cross country truck drivers! Our food came out piping hot in less then 10 minutes. And from the look of things at 10:30 in the morning it was pretty packed with customers. So really impressive if you think about it. My husband had some kind of fresh sausage that was amazing. Made him want to come back for more to figure out what is in it. Wonderful, but like nothing we have ever had before. The cafe is decorated with the best surf theme we have ever seen. We are thinking that we are going to keep it 'our' little Wednesday breakfast out secret. The front of the Cafe says "Great Food. Great Friends. Great Service". Boy, they aren't kiddin! Our only regret is that we didn't know of the cafe before! Then afterwards, 3 minutes away we were able to take a walk on the beach. Perfect morning. Thanks again TAWNY. Been in customer service for 34 years. You lady, are a Rock Star!!

Worth the wait on the weekends! Go, go, go. Live in Los Angeles, and stayed In Carlsbad for the weekend, so glad I found this gem. We sat at the bar and saw all the food parade by. All the goods, without the calories, hahaha. Had the infamous banana crunch French Toast, 1/2 order, so I can make room for more of their other goodies. Th only other place I had a crunchy French toast was Marston's in Pasadena and BB Cafe ranks up there with them. Had to get with a savory dish to balance with sweet, so ended up ordering the Portuguese Sausage, eggs and hash brown plate. First bite, I tasted the butter in the hash browns. My doctor is probably reading this and shaking his head. So yummy yummy. If they served rice with the sausage, it would feel like I was in Hawaii! The coffee cake as others have said, is simply divine. Piping hot, steaming when it came out. Oh, the scent of cinnamon is coming back to me as I type this! And you must try their tangerine juice. My friend and I were wondering, who in the back would want to squeeze tangerines? And the seeds?! So much work to produce a glass. But so worth it, because it was really refreshing and nice change to regular OJ. Table next to us ordered the biscuit and gravy. I will have to wait til my cholesterol level comes back down so I have that next time along with the hundreds of other things I want on this menu. This place is a keeper.

The wait was about an hour last Saturday, was told about 35 minutes. After seeing everyone come out with coffee we realized you can grab a cup of coffee while you wait (next to the check in) and that was nice, coffee is really good! Service was great, food was good. They really keep busy but they never forget you, drinks always full.

What? I've never reviewed Beach Break? What's wrong with me?? OK, don't answer that. My Other Mother (M.O.M.) lives in Oceanside near Beach Break so I like to go there for breakfast when I have time. If I don't have time, I go get a breakfast burrito at Buccaneer Beach. Banana crunch french toast? - AMAZING! I swear they put a whole banana on that plate. And it's always consistent, that's a big plus for me. Read other reviews and take note people, get the coffee cake. I wouldn't steer you wrong. Refuse to order it and lose a few IQ points. That's how good it is. I do NOT recommend splitting the coffee cake with someone. That always ends in disaster. Someone gets more of the glaze than the other and an argument ensues. Trust me on this. Also, eat the coffee cake first. Don't argue, just do it. Love omelettes? Beach Break is your friend. Their omelettes are not only huge but filled with awesome ingredients. Unless you can handle not eating for the next 2 days, split one with someone. That's a big plate of food. I'm pretty picky about my biscuits & gravy because my grandparents owned a restaurant and Grandma made her own. Although BBC's biscuits would lose a fight with Grandma's, they're tasty and the gravy doesn't turn into cement if left to cool. Even if you don't drink a lot of liquids, take a little field trip into the bathroom. I sent my sister in there to look around and I thought I was going to have to file a missing person's report on her. She was taking pictures!! In the bathroom!! It's the happiest bathroom I've ever seen in a restaurant. I love that their patio seating is dog-friendly. That's a huge plus for me because my dog loves to dine out. Just make sure you go directly to the patio. Don't try to take your dog through the restaurant to the patio, you'll get mean looks from the patrons. Not that I know this from experience. I think I read it somewhere. Yeah, it was in a magazine.

This place is pretty popular since it's the high rated brunch restaurant in North County, so if you don't want to wait long, don't go on the weekend. But for being a busy place, they have pretty speedy service and our servers have always been really nice! Don't forget to try the Banana Crunch French Toast!!!

I've been here many other times since I wrote my first review and every single time I order the same (Spicy Chicken Omelette or Scrambalatta with coffee cake) and every single time the place rocks. This last time my boyfriend and I deviated from our usuals. I ordered the Banana Nut Crunch French Toast and he had the vegetarian scramble. Though I would've preferred his meal for the healthier calorie content, I would not have traded my French Toast for the world. Yummy, crunchy, sweet, creamy and oh so good with the combination of flavor and texture. If you are ever in Oceanside, don't miss this place because it is excellent. I wish they would feature this place on the Food Network's TV show Diner's Drive-Ins and Dives so that the owners can get some recognition and to put Oceanside on the map but at the same time, the place is always full as it is so maybe not.

Breakfast is my favorite meal and this place is exactly why I love breakfast so much. Only at breakfast can you have dessert for your main course with a side of sausage. Or a nice hearty main dish with a side of potatoes and warm pastry. After reading all the reviews on yelp, I HAD to order the crunchy banana french toast with a side of turkey sausage. The crunchy banana french toast was crunchy on the outside, soft on the inside, and just the right amount of sweetness. The turkey sausage had good flavor and complimented the sweet french toast. While I didn't think it was as amazing as some other yelpers, it was definitely a satisfying breakfast. The bf ordered the chicken enchilada scramble with hash browns and a side of coffee cake. The bf inhaled the scramble and hash browns but I managed to get my fork in the coffee cake before he inhaled that too. SOOO glad I did. BEST COFFEE CAKE EVER! Moist, warm, covered in frosting, and orgasmically delicious. I may have to go back there and just order a whole coffee cake. If you like sweets at all you have to order this coffee cake! Other than that, the place is low key and the staff is friendly and efficient. I was a little worried about waiting a long time for a table at 11:30am but we were seated in less than 15 minutes. Our two dishes came out to about $25 including tax and tip and was more than filling. I will definitely be back whenever I head towards the San Diego area.

This place is good. I have been everytime I come to Oceanside for vacation. I ordered the ABC. Avacado, Bacon and cheese omlette. I have ordered this all 3 times that i have been here because it is always that good. I ordered the hashbrowns and the coffee cake (I'll tell you about the coffee cake a little later. Mmmm) They cook the omlette with thick chucks of bacon and a lot of it. Before they fold it over the put like a whole avacado in it. Mmmm, it makes it for creamy, yummy, goodness. The hashbrown are hashbrowns nothing spectacular, but good. My partner got the scrambleatta. This was a scramble with cheese, shredded chicken, enchilada sauce, tortillas chips with sour cream on top, she for the home fries and a flour tortilla. This is really good. Has a bit of a bite to it so if you don't like spicy don't get this. Now for the coffee cake. Man if you like coffee cake, you need to order this. It is homemade, warm, fresh, soft. Pretty much everything that you ask for in a coffee cake. We will for sure be coming back to this place evertime that we visit the oceanside area. YUM!!

good food: check outdoor seating: check friendly staff: check relaxing vibe: check beach near by: check good coffee: check I love this place. the food was great. I have the chicken fired steak while my co worker had the veggie Omelette! On top of that, we both got the coffee cake. The coffee cake was very good, but too sweet. I can eat here anytime if only I live closer. lol.

Heaven. This is a total diamond in the rough. Service: outstanding, friendly fast and on point Food: I've had the banana crunch french toast, omlettes, eggs benedict, coffee cake (soooo good). I love their hashbrowns because they're made right--crispy on the outside soft on the inside. There is usually a wait on the weekends, but totally worth it. And the coffee mugs and coffee station while you wait is the greatest thing since sliced bread. I look forward to Sunday mornings when I know I'm going to Beach Break. Thanks fellow yelpers for helping me find this place.

I found this place by the luck of the search for "breakfast" and "Oceanside" First thing that popped up was this place and followed by the extremely favorable star ratings, I proceeded to check it out. Every review down the page was extremely generous in their star-giving and as I tasted today, they had good reason to. Yelpers have yet to let me down. So I made the forty-five minute trek north to meet up with a friend driving in from Long Beach for a nice "halfway between our two locations" breakfast. Before I get into the wonderful parts of my experience, let me just say that Oceanside needs better street labeling for addresses, or maybe this place could use a gigantic green arrow like Google Maps and have their address lit up in the sky. I must have wasted a good fifteen minutes getting lost on South Coast Hwy trying to find ANYWHERE on the streets that indicated where I was in the address numbers. Luckily, I found it. Parking looked to be a problem only for a moment as the inside and outside was crawling with hungry patrons, but I lucked out and scored some pretty awesome VIP street parking. Not bad. My friend had gotten the same! Go us! Now usually I am a stinker for being impatient when it comes to waiting to be seated, but the fifteen minute wait was surprisingly shorter than I expected considering it is Veteran's Day and the time wouldn't be long considering I had driven pretty far for the company. A complimentary coffee bar was outside which at first I thought was a separate vendor from the cafe, but apparently not. Upside down ceramic mugs placed on a tray next to three different coffee selections: vanilla, regular, and decaf. Cream, sugar, stir-sticks, and other coffee furnishings were provided. The coffee was unlimited use which I thought was really cool and the waitress just adds on your coffees when she takes your order. Not a bad deal! The idea of having the complimentary coffee before you are seated in a genius five star idea in my book. It's always such a drag when you need a caffeine boost and you have to wait forever and your headache gets worse and the minutes go by. Fifteen minutes were up and we were given the choice of the inside or the outside seating. Being it a warm seventy-two degree day in SD in November of all times, we took the outside seating. Patio tables and chairs with table cloths that you'd see at Grandma's house on it, with a crazy looking beachy cabana cover over top. Service was very friendly but slightly neglectful at times but it was a busy morning and we were the last table, so I cut them some slack. The prices were nice and reasonable especially after reading other reviews about how large the portions are along with the quality of the food. I settled with the french toast ( i think there were four slices, but sliced small enough for a lady to eat a lot and not feel like a piggy ) and an over-medium egg with the sausage. My friend decided to check out the banana nut crunch french toast pancakes since so many people had mentioned them. The food came out extremely fast and was delicious! I also liked how they leave syrup bottles on the table that way you aren't waiting to track down a waitress to finally get around to bringing you some syrup for your breakfast foods. The food was amazing, the french toast I got was definitely delicious but was not sweet, which I liked. I have one of the weakest stomachs known to mankind and this is the first breakfast where I didn't feel the need to "run behind a dumpster and throw up." Our waitress brought out the check soon after delivering our food, something I also like. I can't stand when you want to leave or don't feel good and want to dip out but have to wait for the check. A nice twenty dollar tab for two deliciously large breakfasts was not a bad price to pay at all, oh wait, I didn't pay! YES! The inside facility was nice and very busy! All of the employees were extremely nice and friendly and ever-so-kindly pointed me in the way of the ladies room, which oddly enough, you walk directly through the kitchen into a caddy-corner to a bathroom that has enough ocean scenes painted on the walls to make Nemo throw up. I definitely am satisfied with my experience here and my 10 AM breakfast filled my little belly all the way up until dinner time! Go good quality meals! Thanks a lot fellow Yelpers for not letting me down on this one!

Wonderful Cafe/Diner food.Great service. I loved the spicy chicken omlett (and i never order omletts). The bacon was so light and crispy. Melt in your mouth goodness. Yum!! (note to self, at here with cousin- gotta remember for next time)

The food was delicious and portions are generous. My favorite part was the option to have homemade coffee cake on the side, in place of toast. It came out of the kitchen warm and is highly recommended. Wait time was long but service was good and fast. You can call ahead to put your name down on the list.

Awesome pancakes! I also ate eggs over easy with hash browns and bacon (yes, I know, out of control...) and everything was wonderful! They really understand the meaning of crispy bacon. Not oily mushy bacon, but dry and crispy. Delicious! The wait on weekends is brutal, though... But they make it better having some coffee pots to keep people awake while they wait. I would only tell you guys to pay attention to the mugs available outside, as they're not always the cleanest. But, honestly, after eating their food you won't even care.

I finally found a breakfast spot that I love in Oceanside. Since I'm in Carlsbad pretty often this place is my new spot. Fellow yelpers didn't let me down this time! Love the honor coffee bar available while you wait, and we had great seats on the outside patio. Place was pretty packed, but we were seated fairly quickly and the server was attentive. Two thumbs up!

Now that is what I call a breakfast! This was a thoroughly enjoyable experience. My wife and I went in mid-morning on a Saturday, so we were expecting a wait after seeing the great reviews on Yelp. The wait wasn't that bad...about 20 minutes. They have coffee, so you get to enjoy a cup while checking out the food on people are eating. Plenty of tables, but we got a place at the counter, where we promptly waited on by the friendly staff. We had some coffee cake while we decided what to get. I got a bacon/avocado/cheese omelet, which was perfect. The hash browns were exceptional. My wife's spinach scramble was very good too. This was a bit of a drive for us, but it was worth it. We'll be back!

One of the best breakfasts I've had. Honestly everything we ordered was GREAT!!! I ordered the Banana Nut Crunch French Toast & OMGosh AMAZING! With 4 big slices I shared with my 3yr old and finished it with a full belly. Even the turkey sausage was fresh tasting. MUST TRY the Coffee Cake, it's light and drizzled with a sweet lite icing. Definitely hitting this spot when we come back.

So far the best breakfast I've had in Oceanside. Our party ordered a few things to share - biscuits and gravy and the gravy was peppery and savory and creamy.. Yum! also ordered Banana French toast and it was so fluffy on the inside but on the outside it was buttery crisp with corn flakes for added crunch. Lastly corn beef hash and eggs which were great but only wished there were less potatoes on the hash since you also get home fries on the side. Tangerine juice was tart and naturally sweet. Great place!! Just be prepared for a bit of a wait because everyone else thinks so too.

This place is a local favorite. But for just eggs and potatoes the wait and cost isnt worth it. Atmosphere is fun and has a surfer vibe but you end up paying for the beachboy fan club experience with your time and money. Employees friendly. Food average.

The food here was very good! I had the steak and eggs and my wife had the veggie omelette. The price was very reasonable and the service was very very good. I recommend this place and will return for sure

This Oceanside fixture has become a regular for us, despite the crowds and wait times. Why do we wait? The food! I love their ABC omlette, it is huge. And I haven't had a bad pancake there yet. If I'm in the mood to splurge, I go for their famous banana crunch french toast. And have the coffee cake as your side dish. They help the wait by offering coffee in the lobby and plenty of seating, so the tables turn pretty quickly.

Breakfast is the most important meal of the day, and while I rarely wake up in time to start my day right, I was treated to one of San Diego's best kept "not so secret" brunch spots. Beach Break Cafe is one of those local spots that's focused on homey comfort food, and while the decor is casual and fun, the restaurant is always busy and filled with patrons from near and far - so you know the food is amazing! On the flip side, the parking is pretty atrocious, but the generous portions and reasonable prices keeps everyone coming back for more. After carefully reviewing the menu, we decided to split a savory and sweet dish to diversify our options. Savory: Corned Beef Hash ($10.25): Corned beef hash plus 2 eggs any style, hash brown, and coffee cake. I honestly could eat this all day. It's a hearty breakfast and with my over easy eggs exploding over all the delicious hash and potatoes, I could not stop stuffing myself. Mmm... Sweet: Banana Crunch French Toast ($9.95) is quite a unique dish to satisfy anyone's sweet tooth. My guess is that they use captain crunch to give it that special crunch and the fresh bananas compliments the dish well - it certainly is a crowd pleaser. Summary: If you're in the area, this is one spot you definitely don't want to miss. I highly recommend sharing both these dishes, and bringing a huge appetite. You won't regret it! P.S. Park in the local neighborhood. You won't find parking in their lot.

Just loved this cute Oceanside cafe. The service is friendly, the food is affordable, and the portions are huge! I had their fish tacos, one of their specials, and the marinated mahi-mahi made all the difference in this dish. And the cole slaw! I hate it when they drown it in mayonnaise. This recipe is fresh and crunch. Some of the best slaw I've had. And don't forget their coffee cake! It's a definite mortal sin. Loved all the surfer stuff on the walls. It definitely reflected the personality of Oceanside. A+ all the way!

Best breakfast in San Diego County! I'm a big breakfast fan and a big Benedict fan. The Seafood Bene is amazing at at only $11.00. Kelly was on top of our drinks a big plus for me, great service. Amazing food very good prices. Final positive and also important was the food was served hot!

Clearly the best breakfast in the area. I would put them up against any breakfast place in San Diego or this county. "Awesome Omelet" great seafood in it and they do not give small portions. Of course the coffee cake is and always will be the best.

Went on the weekend. Took a long time to get a table. It was super busy. Banana crunch toast was awesome. Good proportions. Also had the breakfast burrito here a different time. It was really good. Biggest thing is know there are long lines on the weekend. All the severs were running around like mad and more than once I requested something (ie salsa for burrito,) and the waiter must have forgotten.

If you're hoping for a quick bite to eat, tasty food, and friendly waiters, then I would recommend this awesome place to you. If, on the other hand, you happen to be the kind of individual who highly dislikes a 25 minute wait, and would rather cash in the tasty food and great service for a seat (found immediately), then going elsewhere might be better. This place, no matter how great it is, isn't the type of shoppe where you bring your laptop, work on your term paper and sort your day out. Most customers seem to know this, and this makes for somewhat of a shorter wait, but be prepared to chomp down, and get out. It is advisable to pay attention to the sneaky bus boys snatching (semi-finished) meals from the table. Best advice: -go on a day when you have time to sit around -be friendly about the wait -order and eat quickly -say howdy to gary

My family and I were on vacation in Carlsbad and my husband found this place on Yelp. We saw good reviews, so decided to check it out. Man, we went back there for breakfast the whole time we were in Carlsbad. It was so good. Their breakfast burrito was to die for, as was their coffee cake. My husband had their banana crumb french toast, which I also tried, very very good and very friendly staff.

Heck to the yeah!!!! Was here with some friends and we decided to give this place a try. My goodness the portions, the quality, the price, and everything, so so good! My mouth is watering just remembering it, and it's one of the many reasons I miss Cali so much! 5 stars! Would stop by again if i'm ever in the area!

It's honestly not what I expected... food was not as flavorful as I had expected from all these amazing reviews. Large portions are good... but just a tad bland... not bad... but not great Had the Spicy Chicken Omelet and the Killer Burrito... Spicy Chicken was not good... and the Burrito was good but not great. LOVE THE COFFEE CAKE :)

Outstanding service and food! The wait was ok due to the coffee you get when you arrive. The reviews were right on!

It's a diner...what can i say?! Too bad they weren't open at 2am. I had the veggie omelet with egg whites. Nothing to write home about (only to yelp i guess :)). It def wasn't cheesy enough, but this is just such an easy breakfast place with nice waiters etc. Good hospitality and a good ol breakfast!

If you are looking for delicious breakfast with humongous portion sizes, then you have to check this spot out! I love their breakfast. Far more delicious then I hop or Denney's. I only wish that they stay open a little later. They have a surfer type atmosphere, and there staff are always nice.

Oh My Goodness.... How can you go wrong with this place? Free coffee in the waiting room, great coffee cake and wonderful service. RECOMMENDATION: portions are big. I recommend sharing. definitely try the Coffee Cake. Restaurant has a mellow vibe....perfect for beach community.

This place is really good. Their coffee cake is the bomb. I am definitely going to be making more trips to this fabulous joint

Best Breakfast place in Carlsbad/Oceanside area. Always busy but always has great food and excellent service. My friend and I go to breakfast on Saturday mornings and this is definitely our favorite place to eat.

Been coming here for years, best breakfast in North County. Try the Scramblatta and Coffee Cake, you won't be disappointed.

Good food, awesome atmosphere, friendly staff! Went here for a family brunch a couple weeks back. Was fairly busy, but the wait was short. The host and owner (or manager?) greeted us and made sure we were doing well. Before we were seated the hostess noted we needed a high chair and it was ready! The portions are big! Lots of left overs for me. Our server, Summer, was very pleasant. Her only downfall was that she confused the drink order. But not too big of a deal. Will definitely be going here again. Good for groups, kids, dates. I wouldn't recommend going for business meetings, the environment is somewhat noisy and distracting. 4* because of the slight mishaps. Will update review next time(s) I go!

If you're going to visit anyplace in Oceanside, this should be at the top of your list (aside from the beach of course). This is one of my absolute favorite brunch places I've been to. The prices are great, service is friendly, atmosphere is fun and relaxed, and the food is amazing! I have never ordered anything I didn't like here. Not only are the portions huge, but the value of what you're paying for is beyond expectations. I highly recommend the Banana Crunch French Toast w/ a side of the turkey sausage; it's 4 pieces of french toast coated in Honey Bunches of Oats cereal, topped with fresh sliced bananas, and whipped cream. All of the omelettes are delicious as well. My favorites are the ABC (avocado, bacon, cheese) and the Spicy Chicken. Each omelette comes with a choice of 2 sides; if you've never tried their coffee cake, you must! It is baked fresh daily and topped with icing right before they serve it to you. Be ready to wait at least 20 minutes in the morning, and more, if you have a big group. Although they have expanded to a bigger place, they're just as busy as they were before.

I wish i could give this place 6 stars! Looked this place up on Yelp when we were in oceanside for the California Ironman. There's free coffee if you have to wait and seats on their patio. HUGE piece of the best coffee cake i've ever had came with my wife's meal. i had the best multigrain pancake i've ever had. multigrain pancakes aren't usually that soft, but this one was so soft it was almost falling apart! Honestly everything that we got at out table was amazing!

Coffee cake was pretty good. Good breakfast place, but nothing super special.

The best breakfast in Oceanside. Try the Zell's scramble with some coffee cake. Atmosphere is great. Go early to avoid a long wait. This place reminds you why you should support local businesses and how good they can be.

I am not sure which to begin with the coffee cake, or the sweet family that runs the place. It's all goodness. It's a favorite breakfast place for us - the kids love the Mickey Pancakes, we love the corn tortillas, turkey sausage, salsa, omelets customized to your liking, the community aspect. This is quintessential Oceanside! Love it. Oh and the Juevos Rancheros are DElicious!!!

Went for fathers day and I was dreading the wait. Sat at the bar and it made me hurry and eat because everyone was moving so fast and I didn't want to see butts while I ate .The food is awesome my all-time fav is the coffe cake !!

Got yummy breakfast here before heading to Legoland. I had the Banana Crunch French Toast, hubby had the Awesome Seafood Omelet and kids had pancakes and sausage, Everything was good, service was great, and the bill was not bad at all for 8 people (4 adults and 4 kids).
Scramblatta was cold... Potatoes bland :/ should have had the french toast that my wife had instead that was really good.... A lot of ppl come here so make sure you're ready for the wait... they have a coffee bar you can help yourself to while you wait... its the honor system so you tell your server so you pay for it... but its good so you dont have to wait an hr or so if its busier to get your coffee fix in the morning... bussers are amazingly quick and are friendly and helpful... overall its a friendly place... good place for breakfast with the family... a local's spot for sure... downsides... biscuits were not amazing or anything, didnt get to try the coffee cake, one person bathroom so you might have to wait a bit, and parking is always full... gotta park in the residential area and walk... but its not far...

So good to see a little neighborhood place do well, gain fans, move location, and continue to succeed! Due to its popularity, Beach Break had to move locations and expand. Sometimes, that sort of change can mess a place up. Not so here. This isn't fussy food; just good beachy diner food. With big, tasty breakfast plates served in a beach/surf-themed room with a very friendly, local vibe and a patio, too. Did they pour a fortune into the interior? Nope. But it works. Rather than crappy corporate surfboards adorning a corporate approved theme bar (a la Islands) , they have some really nice boards to stare up at and dream about. I know I'll be back. Will I be able to finish my omelette? Probaby not. That thing was freaking massive!

We usually eat breakfast at another, less busy location in Oceanside, but because of the great Yelp reviews, we decided to brave the wait on a Saturday and eat here. Very glad we did. Because everybody raves about the banana crunch french toast, we got a half order (two slices) and split it before eating our eggs, just to see what all the fuss is about. We don't usually even eat sweets - or bananas - but it was really good. My husband is still talking about it a week later. I had the spicy chicken omelet which you will see lots of pictures of in other reviews, and I didn't photograph it because it didn't look as huge and fantastic as some I had seen here - although it was very good. The only thing that threw me was the guacamole was very warm and inside the omelet - I would have preferred it cold as a garnish on the outside like the sour cream with it was. My husband ordered the Killer Burrito and said it was the best breakfast burrito he's ever had. We will be back for sure - despite how incredibly busy they were - it was PACKED at 2:00 - the service was fast and very friendly. Just be prepared to wait.

Best breakfast in the world!...according to me, my wife, my 7 year-old, my 10 year-old, & my 12 year-old. Although it was a little better 10 years ago at the old location, b4 the secret got out. Get here early or you'll b waiting a while. Even if u do wait, you'll forget all about it when u eat the first bite. Outstanding ambience, menu, service, location, food.

Banana Nut Crunch French Toast. Strawberries. Whipped Cream. This was my order. Mind you, I walked into Beach Break after five years of saying no to french toast. Soggy bread? Not my cup of tea. My breakfast changed all that. I came here with my family for Mother's Day, and yes it was extremely busy. However, one glance at the empty cafe across the street was enough to wait it out. The mugs of coffee outside didn't hurt either. The wait staff was attentive, the vibe was relaxed, and the food was excellent. The bill for three came to be about $40, and this i mostly because of ordered extra sides and fresh squeezed juices. Our meal finished up with one of the staff coming around with Lindt chocolates for all the mother's. A nice little hometown touch. Parking is pretty crazy right in front, but there is plenty up for grabs around the corner in the more residential area. This place is definitely a North County breakfast staple.

came here based on the reviews of yelpers and i was definitely not disappointed at all! i called ahead to make sure they served eggs benedict (they only do on sundays) which i think is a sunday brunch necessity. we got here around 10am and it was packed! they told us it would be a 20 min wait, and i thought they were totally lying when gauging the crowd but we were seated pretty quickly. we ordered eggs benedict and on the advice of the waitress, my date ordered the banana crunch french toast. the food came out really really quick and the portions were very generous! i had a bite of the banana crunch french toast, and its definitely a winner...i just may order it next time :) i think the OJ is fresh squeezed but my date thought they might have thrown some tangerines in there...it had a bit of a zing, but a good zing! this is an awesome hole in the wall! great atmosphere, lots of surf stuff up on the walls, awesome food, quick service, the food came out super quick, and the prices are pretty darn reasonable. definitely worth the wait!

Delicious! It was worth the 40 minute wait..Everything on the menu looked so appetizing. We ordered the banana french toast, spicy chicken omelete, and a bowl of fruit - yummy! Each dish was well prepared, and full of flavor! Too bad we are not locals, we would come here more often! Definitely a real treat!

I've always been a fan of good breakfast places. But, I didn't know that many in Oceanside. I found Beach Break Cafe through Yelp and decided to give it a try. I think I would have enjoyed it more if I wasn't alone. Being surrounded by groups of happy locals made me feel out of place. But, I'm not going to put that on the restaurant. The waitress was very friendly and helpful and the kitchen was quick and efficient. I'd hardly made my order before my breakfast was brough to me. As far as the food, I wasn't impressed to the point of amazement, but it was good. I enjoyed my eggs and toast and washed them down with some hot chocolate (Morning is for fatty foods, right?) I had a side of biscuits and gravy as well, but I wasn't too happy with them. Most likely coming back when the opportunity presents itself. But, I think next time, I'll try the french toast.

Normally we get really good service here but not this morning. You could tell the waitress predetermined that we were not good tippers, She constantly checked on all her other tables but not us, we rarely saw her. Everyone else got refills but us, Our food took MUCH longer than normal and when it finally did come out, it was lukewarm. It took about 25 minutes from the time we ordered for it to finally come to the table, while every table around us got their food with about 10 minutes. The waitress did not even a visit to the table to let us know the kitchen was backed up or whatever was the issue with our food that made it take so long. If we didn't have somewhere to be and was already running late because the slow service, we would have spoke to the manager about it. I use to be a waitress so I understand things happen but at the very least the waitress should communicate with her table any issues going on and not act like just because we are young that we will not tip because that's not always the case. In our case, if you provide good service you will be compensated greatly for it. Like I said before normally the service is great here but this morning was a HUGE disappointment.

Everytime my boyfriend & I take a trip so San Diego, we stop by here for some breakfast. Yes, finding parking is a b!tch & the line is always ridiculously long.. but trust me.. its WORTH IT. There food is deelish and its a plus that they're jam is homemade! I def recommend eating here, but try to call in before so the host can write your name.

This place is disgusting. They managed to get half of the omelette cold and half of it lukewarm. The coffee cake was bland, nothing special about it. Costco sells better coffee cakes. Turkey sausage was cold! Just not worth to waste your time.

I was vacationing with my family in Oceanside for a week on/after 4th July weekend and tried several local restaurants based on their yelp reviews. I wish there was a place of this caliber back home. Small, clean, friendly super helpful staff and excellent food.I brought my family back here to eat 3 times in one week, twice for breakfast and once for lunch. Was excellent every time. Try the Beach Break Burger or the Banana Crunch French Toast.

Food was pretty salty and probably not very healthy. Service was poor. Prices were a little high.

Yeah, it was good...but not 'blown away' good. Service was great, and despite it being crowded, we sat in about 5 minutes. I ordered the ABC omelet and it was good, but not spectacular. After reading more reviews, I wish I would have ordered the Banana Nut French Toast, but maybe the next time we're in the area. My wife ordered the Chicken Enchilada omelet which I thought was much better; good taste, good portion size. But definitely good enough to warrant a second trip sometime! Gotta try the French Toast and see!

Good food. Long wait for seats and food. Too crowded. Not very relaxing . They give you the bill while you are still eating and pick up your plate . Will not go back. Will be a good place in NYC but not for Oceanside .

Just went there for the first time this morning and everything was fantastic. Breakfast is usually something that you can't screw up, but when you step it up a notch, its a place to back again and again and we will. Had to wait about half an hour, but I take that as a good sign. Wife had the California omelet (perfect), son had the spicy chicken omelet (very good but better be hungry because it's rich), and I had the crunchy banana french toast (as mentioned in other reviews - Awesome!). The only thing that was just OK was the biscuits and gravy. Biscuits could be a little better (if you want to see a great recipe: pinchmysalt.com/2007/09/… ). Coffee cake was light and heavenly and they used doggy containers made from a different material (biodegradable?) instead of nasty foam - nice touch. Service was very good and friendly and owner/operator was visible and very much involved. Keep up the good work Beach Break Cafe! We've found our new breakfast place!

One Word...WAIT! Help yourself to the self service coffee, find yourself a place in the sun and realize it'll all be worth it! The chicken machaca omelette, the chicken fried steak, fresh squeezed OJ and coffee cake that would make your grandmother weep.. I have yet to see a bad meal put out of this kitchen. The folks at Beach Break cafe make it worth waiting for breakfast!

Stopped here on a Tuesday morning around 11:30 on our way to Buena Park. The ambiance was very fun and friendly; the restaurant is filled with surf and skate themed items on the walls, tables, etc. We had to wait a little bit (about 10-15 minutes), but were allowed to take coffee during said wait. Our table was super clean and had the greatest hot sauce I have ever tasted at a restaurant plus a few jellies. I had the "On Fire" scrambled-in, which had jalapenos, hot links, salsa, and cheese, and my husband had the ham and cheese omelette. Their hash browns were so, so tasty, and it came with your choice of biscuits (with butter or gravy), tortillas, toast or coffee cake....mmmmmmmmm, coffee cake....Their coffee was superb. The menu has a lot of typical diner foods as well as California-style breakfast cuisine. I know they serve lunch, too, but we didn't check out that side of the menu. Every single staff member we encountered during our visit was super friendly. My husband said the bathroom was really neat, too, and had a lot of signatures from surfers (?) as well a mural and cool tilings. My only complaint is that is isn't closer to Mira Mesa, but I would make a special trip just to eat here.

I love this place. I eat here about once a week and it keeps on getting better. There is a lot to choose from on the menu so each time you go back there is something new to try. Also the staff here are very friendly and quick. When you finish a drink or something they are always there to see if you want more.

I really enjoy this place. Here's the catch though... I HATE WAITING but I DO wait for this place! My girlfriends have been trying to get me to go here for eons but I could not stand waiting and frankly was not keen on eating at this particular place. Long story short, I finally went and it was 100% worth the wait. I ordered the scramblata and it was delicious. All of us girls passed our food around so I was able to see that everything that left the kitchen was really tasty. Thanks for the great eats.

Dan Porter recommended this delightful little hot spot just a stone's throw from the Pacific. We first met Maya (Dano's neice) who became our delightful server whose frequent visits and smiles increased the percentage of the gratuity ten fold. I had the chorizo scramble with hash browns and Allan had the Machacas Scramble Special with home fries and fresh flour tortillas. Angie had the Mushroom and Cheese Omelette. I think we all agreed we'd be back again soon. Don't miss this bustling breaksfast spot if you're in the area. Oh yeah... and on our walk out, we all agreed that we should have ordered a piece of the home-made coffee cake because it looked like culinary art to die for.

first off let me say the food was great once we got in! The downside was the service by a blonde girl. I asked another employee her name and they said "Stevie" I am not sure if that is really it or not but she was rude and we watched as she made fun of a group of kids while she was standing near us, which we thought was awful. She was rude- and seemed to be a diva and a bully. Hopefully she wont be there if we ever come again.....I was going to report her to the owner but it was busy and I called.

The banana crunch French toast is amazing along with every other menu item I have had so far. You may have to wait 15-20 min but it is worth it once you eat. The staff is very nice and helpful definitely a place everyone in the area should check out.

Liz A.
Wow so am I an ass for thinking I could go to a small cafe and get breakfast in Oceanside and not get attitude from the staff? The staff here has been so rude to me (and I don't mind waiting for a table) that I haven't even stayed to eat. I'm sorry no matter how cool looking the clientel and packed the cafe, don't treat me like I should be kowtowing the staff. I refuse to eat somewhere where the staff walks by with a list of waiting customers and refuses to take my name. I went down the street to the Oceanside Cafe, which is much more authentic for the area. If you want snooty outside of downtown San Diego please be treated like a nothing at the Beach Break, you want great breakfast food and sausages made locally go to the Oceanside Cafe :)

Ray C.
The service was great, but the food was just...meh. I could have the same taste if I made it in my own kitchen (not much of a compliment- trust me). My french toast was kinda cold and soggy. I understand that this is a well-loved mom & pop joint, but I'm trying to be honest. While you are waiting for your table, and trust me you will wait, they have self-serve coffee available with "cute" little mugs. This would be a great place to take someone who has only ever eaten at IHOP because the quaintness is better than the scurvy that is IHOP. I wouldn't go back because the food was not that great. I'm so not gonna make any friends from this!

This place is great. The service was excellent, our food came out super fast. I had the banana french toast, and it was very good. My husband got a sandwich which he did not like. So I suggest you just go for the breakfast here.

never thought much about dining in O'side, but this was a good halfway point to meet up with my friends from OC-land. 9am on a Saturday =20 minute wait, but there were carafes of freshly brewed coffee and homey mugs right outside for our drinking pleasure. the staff was awesome in accommodating our ever increasing party size (8 total, 2 of 'em kiddies) and semi rowdiness (we had a secret santa gift exchange that morning). our waiter was super cool and whomever was in charge of giving refills on the java did not miss a beat. our food came out quickly (excellent well done hash browns). my only gripe was that it was taken away before we were done, but our server was so damn nice we didn't complain. afterall, they let us linger without any nasty looks for nearly 2 hours. FYI, for all you surfers/skaters/wakers out there - surf ride is just across the street. i am none of the above, but there's a cool section of ladies threads - check out the sale racks - weeeee!

I absoluetly LOVE Beach Break Cafe. Everytime I go to Oceanside I have to stop for either Breakfast or Lunch. The friendly staff and the wonderful food keeps me coming back for more. I love their coffee cake that they bring out before my breakfast. ( I request that.) The french toast with banana's is to die for but I also love the Mushroom Cheese Omlette as well. Anything and everything you order their is well worth the time you would have to wait to be seated. FANTASTIC! =)

Yummmmm. I wanted to go back the next day. My eggs were cooked perfectly and I loved the different hot sauces I could put on and the choice of sides. They were busy, but the waitstaff was super nice. They let you have coffee while you wait too. I tried some of my friends home fries- and they were the best I've had. I didn't get the coffee cake, but next time I will because it looked really good!

Wonderful experience! From the minute we got there, this place was "Guest Service" oriented. The manager asked how many, I said 6; he said about 5-10 minutes. He then came outside and asked if we would like to sit outside, it was an Awesome day in Oceanside at noon, so we said sure. The 6 of us were first timers here and our server Chris (from Connecticut) suggested many signature items. Chris really made our dinning experience. It is nice to see that there are articulate and engaging servers out there. You should request him if possible. 3 in our group got the Banana Crunch French Toast and loved it! The portions were huge, and there was plenty left over for all of us to sample. I had the Spicy Chicken Omelet with crispy hash browns, and the coffee cake. The omelet was fresh and tasty, and again...huge portions. Another had the Beach Breaker Omelet and enjoyed it; she also had to share it with her husband. One of us ordered the Danger Burger with fries. It was cooked to perfections and the ranch dressing was homemade and yummy. This is a must stop for anyone in the San Diego area. Breakfast is amazing, and the food is delicious. The restroom is thru the kitchen and kind of a trip to get to, but very clean and the ocean sea-life mural is very cool.

This place is delicious! Get the killer burrito! YUM! Just try to avoid weekends 'cause thats when youll have to wait the longest. Never had to wait more than 45 mins though.

The food is decent quality, they just get my order wrong almost every time. Missing onions or adding mayo when I specifically ask for it not to be there. Almost always something not right.

Took my wife here for brunch on the way to SD. The inside was heavy on surf decor. We waited about 15 minutes before we got seated which was pretty fast considering how busy the restaurant was. The service was very friendly to my wife and I as we were first timers. I got the shrimp omelette and my wife got the corn beef hash omelette. All very delicious and a generous portions. make sure you try the coffee cake! Their coffee cake is on point! (Now Salivating) I would definitely like to come back to this location. Very very kind workers. Big ups to the Lakers decor and bobble heads I spotted!

One of my go to breakfast joints in North County. Every time my family comes to town, I can guarantee a trip there the following morning. It's always where the family wants to go! Make sure to get coffee cake. If you like salsa, ask for the special salsa that the chef makes.
(5)
Alan W.
Every inch a surf cafe. Courteous efficient staff, great selection. If you're there for breakfast make sure you order the home fries, not too spicy, not at all salty, just right. Come for the food stay for the decor. My only criticism, the utensils are not friendly to arthritic hands, ask for a steak knife.
(4)
Eliana S.
The price to portion ratio is great, large portion sizes for a good price. It definitely filled me up even though I hadn't eaten all day by the time I came for lunch. I tried the On Fire scramble with hash browns and coffee cake. The food is good but not revolutionary, although this is definitely a fun place to be and I recommend trying it. One thing to note though is that when it gets busy there's around a 30 min wait time in the lobby where you can drink coffee (not free, is based on an honor system where you pay for it later) and hang out and look over the menu. It's not that bad if I'm being honest.

Well, the place has a line wrapped around the corner at noon on a Sunday so you know it has to be good, right? Well, it was nothing but great! We had a party of 5 and everyone's meals were extremely tasty. Their coffee cake is to die for and a nice added touch for something sweet after your savory meal. Definitely have your appetite ready, bc their portions are nicely sized! Our server, I believe it was James, was personable & patient with our party. Bottom line. food is very fresh and tasty and the service was quick and spot on. Will definitely be back!

Beach Break is an Oceanside institution. The menu is filled with delicious and hearty portions, whether it's breakfast or lunch you're craving. Definitely an easy choice when your group can't agree where to go. It also has a pleasant family feel that's coupled with surf memorabilia and videos that will keep both the kids and/or the surfers in your family spinning their heads. The staff is friendly and efficient.

Makes me want to move to Oceanside. Best food, service, coffee, and environment in North County for breakfast. They must ship in their servers from Texas or Georgia or something, their hospitality is so nice.

Awesome Breakfast! My wife and I live in Cardiff and are always looking for a new breakfast spot. We found Beach Break back when they were at their old location. The food is great and the staff is extremely friendly. We checked out their new location last weekend. Even better! I highly recommend checking them out, you may have a little bit of a wait, but it;s worth it, plus they have free coffee available!
(5)

We go here all the time. Lots of staff so you never sit and wait too long without someone coming along and helping you. Food gets to your table fast and tastes ooooooh so good each and everytime we've gone.It feels good to support a local business and we can't wait for their new location to open! Thanks Beach Break!

YUM! Great place for breakfast. Probably great for other meals too, but I've only been there for breakfast...DELICIOUS breakfast. The restaurant is small and well-liked, so be prepared to possibly wait before being seated. And then be prepared for some good eatin'!

Breakfast is my favorite meal of the day. I come here every other weekend or so. Staff is extremely friendly and accommodating. Prices are affordable; food is plentiful and delicious. I always stick to the omelets-- they never disappoint. The ingredients are fresh, homestyle potatoes are never soggy and have just the right amount of crispiness. Whole wheat toast with butter just seals the deal. My fiance loves the Killer Burrito, but its probably one of the unhealthiest items on the menu. I've heard its the best hangover cure around, so take it or leave it.
(4)

The Beach Break is an Oceanside institution for great breakfast food - no BS. It is honest, clean and totally tubular (surf theme - you'll understand when you go there). You get quality and quantity for a reasonably low price. The people who work there are very nice.

I love rolling out of bed on a Sunday morning and getting breakfast at Beach Break. The wait can be long sometimes because it's so popular, but the wait staff is kind and the food is delicious. Wanna be adventurous? Order a side of the breakfast potatoes and a side of gravy, combine and enjoy
(5)

This is the only good place in Carlsbad for breakfast. The best thing on the menu is the tamale scramble. They have homemade biscuits and homemade sour cream crumb cake. Hard to get into, long lines, but worth the wait. They serve you free coffee while you are waiting.
(5)
Debbie D.
I am not the biggest breakfast person BUT I LOVE the food here. I get the omelets.. YUMMY! Huge portions loaded with filling. The only downfall is the LONG wait to get seated. Obviously it's good if you always have to wait..... so I do.

Update to my review from 2 years ago. This place is still amazing! I eat here at least a couple times a month and it's always great! The staff is always awesome and super friendly. The wait is still pretty long if you're plannin on going with a party anytime on Sat or Sun after 8:30am, but it's well worth it.

This place is delicious! Food is always made fresh and the servers are very polite and respectful. If you come here on a weekend be in early though as the wait can get pretty long.

Open doors, coffee while you wait, super friendly wait staff and owner, what a great start to a really nice dining experience! I almost got the Banana Crunch French Toast since other Yelpers recommended it, then I sat down and was reminded my pants are a little too tight! So, I perused the menu and decided the Fish Taco Salad was with was perfect...and it was along with the ice tea!!! Great job Beach Break and Yelpers for the recommend!

We have been in Oceanside over 10 years and finally found a fantastic breakfast spot. 30 minute wait with coffee in the waiting area and the wait was well worth it. Our waiter, Travis was awesome. Friendly beach casual attitude and great with suggestions and making sure we had everything we needed. The food was really excellent. I had the hash and my wife had chicken fried steak and on recommendation the coffee cake which was soon good. We will definitely be back here soon. Loved it!

I have eaten here twice while visiting San Diego County and could move south just to eat here once a week. Both times we had breakfast and both times it was an edible delight. I have ordered the machaca plate (1st time) and the seafood omlete. A very well deserved WOW, for both meals. Portions are just the right size to fill you up and satisfy your flavor pangs. I must admit I stared longly at my empty plate both times I ate here and thought about licking the plate. Unfortunately or fortunately for me, my wife read my mind and advised me to put the plate down and put my tongue back in my mouth. Aaahhh wives, what a curse it is for them to keep us civil. On the down side this place is so popular that you may have to wait to be seated. The first time I ate here was in the old building and they have since move to a larger space, but it also fills up fast. The wait is worth it, 10 to 20 minutes, so don't let this deter you from enjoying one of the best meals I have encountered. The decor is surfer + with photos of surfing and surfers which will entertain you until the food arrives. Wait staff are cheerful, pleasent and helpful (they advised me where I could purchase the hot sauce they provide). I am already planning my next trip south, with this destination in my plans.

Just real good food, love the pancake there

(4)Michele O.
Omg! Great place, Danielle was our server. She was effin stellar! Great job!
(5)Forrest H.
Went there for breakfast yesterday. Best corned beef hash I've had in San Diego so far. Potatoes were well cooked and not rushed like a lot of places do. Coffee was a little weak by my standards, but who cares; the food was great! Good service as well. Will definitely be going there again.
(5)Jarrod G.
(5)Julie B.
food just like mom would make - gotta love it. The only down side is the wait can be a killer, but i always grab a cup of coffee & meet someone new !!
(5)Sheeva G.
this is for the NEW location :) really cute place. what amazing banana crunch french toast! probably the best french toast i've had. i love the new location because it's bigger and cuter! i can understand why there is a long wait for breakfast
(4)Jordan P.

(5)Paul K.
I was at this place for breakfast on a Monday. it was CROWDED... however, the wait was not that long... Food is ok. Nothing to be impressed over. The service was good. If you're visiting the town and need a place to have a good breakfast, this is the place to be.
(3)Melinda D.
Their special crunchy banana french toast with turkey sausage is so good, I can't get around to trying anything else. Service just ok outside. Didn't like my coffee and last time asked them to brew a fresh pot. Not sure what's with that, but otherwise this is a new fave in a great south Oceanside location.
(4)katie f.
Zells scramble and coffee cake is the way to go. Always good food and service. Also try the killer burrito.
(5)Trang N.
(5)Stephen J.
(5)ginger j.

(5)Melanie G.
(4)Mike C.
My family and I visit Oceanside for first time and we was looking for brakefast and found this grate place, really good food, grate service, fast delivery to the table. Higly recomended! you just have to wait some time becaus everyone wants to eat here xD

(5)Karissa S.
This place is pretty popular since it's the high rated brunch restaurant in North County, so if you don't want to wait long, don't go on the weekend. But for being a busy place, they have pretty speedy service and our servers have always been really nice! Don't forget to try the Banana Crunch French Toast!!!
(4)Dawn V.
(5)Jenny L.
(5)Amy L.
YUM!!
(5)Lynn H.
Nice stop on the way from LA to San Diego. I love their omlettes!
(4)Stephanie J.
good food: check outdoor seating: check friendly staff: check relaxing vibe: check beach near by: check good coffee: check I love this place. the food was great. I have the chicken fired steak while my co worker had the veggie Omelette! On top of that, we both got the coffee cake. The coffee cake was very good, but too sweet. I can eat here anytime if only I live closer. lol.
(5)Jenny L.
(5)Amy S.
(5)Giggly C.
Wonderful Cafe/Diner food.Great service. I loved the spicy chicken omlett (and i never order omletts). The bacon was so light and crispy. Melt in your mouth goodness. Yum!! (note to self, at here with cousin- gotta remember for next time)
(5)Alison H.
The food was delicious and portions are generous. My favorite part was the option to have homemade coffee cake on the side, in place of toast. It came out of the kitchen warm and is highly recommended. Wait time was long but service was good and fast. You can call ahead to put your name down on the list.
(4)Kats M.
(4)April N.
(4)Tim H.
(5)L H.
Great food and service. I had the spicy chicken omelette and my husband had the breakfast burrito--both were great! We will definitely be back.
(5)Kristin M.
(5)Christi P.
Captain Crunch French Toast! Yum! Love this place! Sorry my review was for Beach Break in the Harbor not Coast Hwy.
(5)Jeselle L.
(5)Mary S.
This place is a local favorite. But for just eggs and potatoes the wait and cost isnt worth it. Atmosphere is fun and has a surfer vibe but you end up paying for the beachboy fan club experience with your time and money. Employees friendly. Food average.
(3)Jonathan C.
The food here was very good! I had the steak and eggs and my wife had the veggie omelette. The price was very reasonable and the service was very very good. I recommend this place and will return for sure
(5)Kerry P.
I wasn't impressed. Average food and the patio area where we ate was rather dirty.
(2)Larry H.
(5)James E.
Nice atmosphere very pleasant for a Raider fan, I seen a few snarls but loved it. the workers are very nice and warm. I'll difinitely come here again...
(5)Irene Y.
(5)Mary M.
(5)James E.
(5)Jayceon T.
Great place to eat. Go!
(5)Dexter V.
Clearly the best breakfast in the area. I would put them up against any breakfast place in San Diego or this county. "Awesome Omelet" great seafood in it and they do not give small portions. Of course the coffee cake is and always will be the best.
(5)Lilly A.

The owner Zell privately messaged me & offered me a gift certificate, so I could come back in & give the restaurant another shot. A++++ for great customer service!

Great food. Great atmosphere. had a good time going for breakfast on Sunday morning. staff was very attentive. the food was quite good and we enjoy the coffee as well. I forgot my notebook at the table and never quiet kind enough to mail it to us. thanks for that we appreciate it.

GREAT! This place is amazing! Love the banana crunch french toast and any of the omelette are great and the portions are HUGE. Any place that offers coffee cake as a side has got to be great.
(5)P M.
(5)Andy F.
(5)Peter H.
(3)S R.
Outstanding service and food! The wait was ok due to the coffee you get when you arrive. The reviews were right on!
(5)Maria A.
(3)Chade m.
If you are looking for delicious breakfast with humongous portion sizes, then you have to check this spot out! I love their breakfast. Far more delicious then I hop or Denney's. I only wish that they stay open a little later. They have a surfer type atmosphere, and there staff are always nice.
(4)Sartaj K.
(5)Andrew J.
This place is really good. Their coffee cake is the bomb. I am definitely going to be making more trips to this fabulous joint
(4)Paul I.
Best Breakfast place in Carlsbad/Oceanside area. Always busy but always has great food and excellent service. My friend and I go to breakfast on Saturday mornings and this is definitely our favorite place to eat.
(5)Chris C.
Been coming here for years, best breakfast in North County. Try the Scramblatta and Coffee Cake, you won't be disappointed.
(5)Ariana KittenCaboodle P.

(5)Janet T.
This is by far the best service and food to experience.
(5)Derek P.
(5)Donna L.
Coffee cake was pretty good. Good breakfast place, but nothing super special.
(3)Travis R.
The best breakfast in Oceanside. Try the Zell's scramble with some coffee cake. Atmosphere is great. Go early to avoid a long wait. This place reminds you why you should support local businesses and how good they can be.
(5)Heather C.
(5)Rshell M.
Went for fathers day and I was dreading the wait. Sat at the bar and it made me hurry and eat because everyone was moving so fast and I didn't want to see butts while I ate .The food is awesome my all-time fav is the coffe cake !!
(4)Jocelyn O.

Driving down from Pismo Beach creates hunger and curiosity. Oceanside...never heard of you, sorry. But I needed a refill on gas and food. Did a quick yelp search and found Beach Break Café. The first time I stopped by, there were a few people mingling around outside and I was confused. But then I walked in and saw the massive throngs of people waiting for a table in the inside lobby area. Suddenly I understood my amateurish expectation of landing a seat right away. I left and decided to try again the next time. On my next excursion, I stopped in Oceanside at 705am and luckily landed a seat right away....the way it should be. It was just me, myself and I but the portions were enough for all 3 of us. I got the spicy chicken omelette and I do wish I had ordered something else. Though unusual to say, I feel like there was TOO much chicken in the omelette. The proportion of ingredients just seemed out of whack. I guess I wouldn't have minded the amount of chicken if it was at least a little spicy and not as dry. However, where the eggs fell short, the hash browns made up and were ballin out of control. They were crispy and golden brown. The coffee cake was also harry met sally mind blowingly soft and crumbly. Get the coffee to top everything off. The service was solid and the majority of the food was good, but the main entrée for me was below average.
(3)James A.
(3)Bertha S.
Best oatmeal. Yes folks, restaurants get it WRONG more often than not. OK, so what. I Love oatmeal:
(5)Tom M.
(4)Laura B.
(4)Dane H.
(5)Alana H.
(5)Esther R.
came here based on the reviews of yelpers and i was definitely not disappointed at all! i called ahead to make sure they served eggs benedict (they only do on sundays) which i think is a sunday brunch necessity. we got here around 10am and it was packed! they told us it would be a 20 min wait, and i thought they were totally lying when gauging the crowd but we were seated pretty quickly. we ordered eggs benedict and on the advice of the waitress, my date ordered the banana crunch french toast. the food came out really really quick and the portions were very generous! i had a bite of the banana crunch french toast, and its definitely a winner...i just may order it next time :) i think the OJ is fresh squeezed but my date thought they might have thrown some tangerines in there...it had a bit of a zing, but a good zing! this is an awesome hole in the wall! great atmosphere, lots of surf stuff up on the walls, awesome food, quick service, the food came out super quick, and the prices are pretty darn reasonable. definitely worth the wait!
(5)kevin g.
Beach break cafe has some of the best coffee cake around. the food is great so is the service.
(5)Regina N.
(5)Allison B.

(2)Joan C.
(5)Carlos Q.
Must go when in the O!
(5)Zahir A.
This place is disgusting. They managed to get half of the omelette cold and half of it lukewarm. The coffee cake was bland, nothing special about it. Costco sells better coffee cakes. Turkey sausage was cold! Just not worth to waste your time.
(1)Jon H.
Very busy, for a reason. Great food, good, fast service, and reasonable prices. Go on an off day, and get on the list early. Order the crunchy French toast!
(5)Anna A.
Service was very nice, decor and atmosphere is pretty nice too. Breakfast was good but not amazing. Though Its solid good breakfast. and with so few decent places around its well worth to go to.
(3)Jennifer C.
the food is good here, and the portion is HUGE!!! great breakfast or brunch stop, definitely deserve a 5 star
(5)Michael M.
(5)Ian N.
Food was pretty salty and probably not very healthy. Service was poor. Prices were a little high.
(2)Darren S.
(3)NY Giants F.
Good food. Long wait for seats and food. Too crowded. Not very relaxing . They give you the bill while you are still eating and pick up your plate . Will not go back. Will be a good place in NYC but not for Oceanside .
(3)Harry Y.
(5)Lisa I.
(5)Lauren R.
(4)Evan O.
I love this place. I eat here about once a week and it keeps on getting better. There is a lot to choose from on the menu so each time you go back there is something new to try. Also the staff here are very friendly and quick. When you finish a drink or something they are always there to see if you want more.
(5)Teri M.
(5)John A.
(4)Mary M.
first off let me say the food was great once we got in!
(2)Mike G.
shrimp omelet is the bomb!
(5)Joe S.
The banana crunch French toast is amazing along with every other menu item I have had so far. You may have to wait 15-20 min but it is worth it once you eat. The staff is very nice and helpful definitely a place everyone in the area should check out.
(5)Liz A.
(1)Ray C.
(3)alexis w.
I always request Sellecca as my waitress! Impeccable service.
(5)Robert H.
The food is spectacular and the service is great! in my opinion this is a great cafe and nothing can beat it.
(5)Romeo C.
If you're in Oceanside, you have to come here for breakfast or brunch! Great service, location is close to the beach and excetional menu items at reasonable prices! I ordered the ABC omlette which was the bomb.com .. Thats right i said it!
(5)Wanna S.
Great service and the food is so tasty...the California omelet is bomb!
(5)Amadita D.
This place is great. The service was excellent, our food came out super fast. I had the banana french toast, and it was very good. My husband got a sandwich which he did not like. So I suggest you just go for the breakfast here.
(5)Steph F.
never thought much about dining in O'side, but this was a good halfway point to meet up with my friends from OC-land.
(5)Liz B.
FANTASTIC! =)
(5)Jennifer W.
(5)Toby W.
(5)Michael L.
This place is delicious! Get the killer burrito! YUM! Just try to avoid weekends 'cause thats when youll have to wait the longest. Never had to wait more than 45 mins though.
(5)Claudia S.
The food is decent quality, they just get my order wrong almost every time. Missing onions or adding mayo when I specifically ask for it not to be there. Almost always something not right.
(2)Heidi M.
One of my favorite places in Oceanside for breakfast. The banana crunch french toast is amazing!!
(5)Ian M.
(5)Jessie B.
One of my go to breakfast joints in North County. Every time my family comes to town, I can guarantee a trip there the following morning. It's always where the family wants to go! Make sure to get coffee cake. If you like salsa, ask for the special salsa that the chef makes.
(5)Alan W.
(4)Eliana S.
(4)C G.

This is the only good place in Carlsbad for breakfast. The best thing on the menu is the tamale scramble. They have homemade biscuits and homemade sour cream crumb cake. Hard to get into, long lines, but worth the wait. They serve you free coffee while you are waiting.
