This is the quietest and most beautiful places we stayed on a fairly long birdwatching trip in SE Arizona. It's convenient to several good birding areas. We stayed in a room with a combined kitchen and bedroom and its own outdoor sitting area overlooking the splendid garden with many bird feeders. The plants in the garden are beautiful and well-cared-for. In addition there are many statues, garden seats, table-and-chair areas, a hammock, potted plants, and Mexican metal statues for an impressive overall effect. The dishes and decor in the bedroom were also Mexican-themed, including very well-executed wall paintings. The bathroom and walk-in shower were large and decorated with interesting tile work. Breakfast is served only on weekends, but we enjoyed coffee with food that we kept in the refrigerator in the room, and we also ate lunch and dinner in the garden. As everyone says, the hosts are very pleasant, welcoming people.

From start to finish, this B & B is amazing! Comfortable accommodations, good food, amazing terraced gardens with birds galore.....a real haven!

We had a LOVELY time at this B & B! The hosts were wonderful, the room was private and secluded (we were on the end) and the gardens were astounding. Lovely morning coffee, yogurt, and gorgeous fruit on the enclosed screened patio. Every detail is beautifully thought out for your maximum enjoyment - from the placement of each plant in the garden to the bottle opener in the room. HIGHLY recommend this beautiful oasis.

The backyard patio is one of the many beautiful, quaint and comfortable aspects of the bed and breakfast. It is artfully decorated with beautiful hand sewn quilts, hardwood floors, with an incredibly comfortable bed! No TV!!! Love it here!

What a perfect spot! Two friends planning on spending a weekend hiking and birding around Patagonia happened upon this treasure while perusing the web for a place to stay. Cozy, homey, with a lovely garden (perfect for a pre dinner glass of wine), this retreat suited us beyond words. Nancy and Ralph make you feel at home. The breakfast is a delight! Nancy was happy to answer our questions about the origins of the place and how she and Ralph came to buy it nine years ago. When asking what time we wanted breakfast, Ralph made sure we would be ok sharing the table with a group of hunters who were after quail, since he knew we were there for bird watching. Now that's customer service! I will definitely return with my husband one day or again with a friend.

If you are going to Patagonia, the Arizona wineries or Tombstone you should consider making the Duquesne House your starting point. This B&B is a feast for your eyes, palate and your soul. Nancy and Ralph, two midwestern transplants have made this place a magical place to stay. Nancy and Ralph have paid attention to every detail from the furnishings in your room to the plates you enjoy your delicous and beautifully presented breakfast on. Our "room" consisted of two rooms, a suite really. If we had been traveling with family, one room could have been occupied as a separate bedroom. Since we were alone, it was used as a sitting room and game room. The room even had a wood burning stove! We enjoyed our own sitting area outside our room but also sat in the large beautifully landscaped yard where we sighted more birds than we did when we went to the bird sanctuary. There is no TV is the room which was fine for us. The hosts provided many games and books to read. Please note there are only one are two restaurants in the town. We ate at one of them for dinner and it was reasonably priced and pretty good.

This place is perfect for those looking for a quiet get-away in a tranquil and beautiful setting. Nancy and Ralph, the owners, were not there when we arrived at 5:00, but they had left a very clear note, so we had no problem finding and accessing our room. Ralph made sure we knew what time to come for breakfast shortly after we arrived and were settling in. Nancy and Ralph have taken great care to make the bedroom, sitting room, and bathroom of each suite visually appealing and comfortable, including providing a wine bottle opener, toiletries such as Neutrogena Rainbath shower gel, books, board games and a CD player with classical music CDs. I loved the Mexican decor in our room. Four people could have stayed in this suite, since the sitting room had two daybeds. The backyard patio and garden are truly stunning. There are several places (including a hammock!) scattered throughout the garden to sit and enjoy watching the birds or just sit back and relax undisturbed. The hosts stay out of your way and are not too big on casual chit-chat, which may be off-putting to some and refreshing to others. Breakfast was delicious, and the table setting was beautiful. We had a yogurt parfait with a variety of fresh fruit, banana bread french toast with local honey or maple syrup, and eggs with feta cheese and sausage. We chatted with the other couple staying at Duquesne. Nancy served us and did a nice job explaining what she had prepared and making sure we had enough coffee. By the way, if we had gotten up early enough, we could have enjoyed coffee outside or in the enclosed porch before heading into the dining room to eat. Nancy recommended an alternative scenic drive to a local winery we wanted to visit and provided a map, as well as thorough directions. This ended up being one of the highlights of our trip! Make sure you tell them ahead of time if you have any dietary restrictions or are allergic to feather pillows; they don't ask. There are a couple of cats on the premises. Although they are not in the rooms, the cats are friendly, and this may not be the place for people who are allergic to cats. Also, this bed and breakfast takes a credit card number to hold your reservation but only accepts cash or check as a form of payment. One minor annoyance was the small drip coming from the bathroom sink's faucet; it kept me up because it is incredibly quiet here at night. Overall, I loved the beauty and tranquility of this bed and breakfast.

Incredibly charming bed and breakfast right out of Sonoita and Elgin. Our room was decorated with a Hacienda-Mexican themed and very romantic. we had a sitting room with two day beds and a fireplace, a bedroom with a back patio and a really cute bathroom. The rooms were incredibly clean and comfortable. The property itself is so wonderful. The main house has comfortable sofas, a covered and enclosed patio, the grounds are expansive with a desert garden that welcomes butterflies and hummingbirds. The owners, Nancy and Ralph, are so kind and really made our stay memorable. I would definitely come back to this B&B next time I go wine tasting in Sonoita/Elgin!
