Absolutely delicious. I will be eating here every time I drive up to Flag. Had the chefs spin on clam chowder. So much flavor packed into one bowl. This was really the best meal I've had in a long time.
(5)Tiffany B.
Great late night eats. So many things close at 10 in Flag, and this was perfect after a play at Theatrikos. The extra plus, I'm vegan and they had a delicious vegan ramen bowl with scrumptious crunchy sweet potato chips on top. Not bad prices, friendly staff, and lively.

Shashito peppers are freakin AMAZING!!! SUV bowl was awesome. First time trying this type of food and super hooked! Vibe of this restaurant was also great if you're looking for something very "Flagstaff" with Asian culture. We will be back!!

I went in for happy hour because i had heard good things. the restaurant was busy but my party of 4 was seated promptly. I ordered the mothra and was extremely pleased. The restaurant has an extremely extensive selection of hot sauces available which i appreciate. our server was nice and everyone in the restaurant seemed to have a pleasant attitude. the music selection was good and not too loud. the food was excellent and i liked the green color of my bowl. My companions were all pleased with what they ordered as well (mothra, S.U.V) i would happily come here again
(5)carol f.
Service staff was quick and friendly. We dumped our food in the trash. Over cooked noodles, very little broth, undercooked meat. I hope in the future they offer a more simple traditional noodle dish.

My husband and I tried out Sosoba the other night, we had two noodle bowls they were both good. The place has a fun atmosphere and a friendly staff. Our meal was $17.00 which we felt was very reasonable. If we didn't go at happy hour our dinner would have been $32.00 and we both felt that would have been an outrageous price. Only one weird thing happened when we got our check the waiter said he did not charge us for the cocktail we ordered. I didn't look over the receipt and just trusted him and paid. I also left him a huge tip which covered the price of the drink plus his tip. When I got home and looked over the receipt it turned out he had charged us for the drink so he got one great tip from us. We will go back again and hope we don't get Mr. Shady Boots as our waiter.

Maybe I just caught them on a bad day. Went back this week. The music was at a normal level and the staff was great. The food is Amazing. I could eat this every day!
(5)Liz B.
Really small, but awesome location and even more amazing food. The staff was hilarious and definitely put a lot of TLC into everything they make. Their bowls are extremely filling with a lot of flavor, so I would recommend eating here if you have a big appetite!

I went with a group of friends to try SoSoBa last night and was truly disappointed with my dining experience. A large party came in after we did, and they were helped out before we were. When we first got there we had to wait about 10 minutes to even order our drinks. They forgot about my friend's glass of wine, and I had to ask twice to even get my water refilled. My boyfriend and I both ordered the vegetarian bowl, and it took at least 50 minutes for the food to come out. I understand if it takes awhile to make the food, but at least let us know the wait time would be almost an hour. Our friends ordered a different bowl and their food came out 30 minutes before ours did. Our waitress was extremely rude and it was obvious she could care less about being there and was very inattentive. I think this place has great potential if the service was better. Overall the food was great, but it was a very disappointing dining experience because of the service. Update - I went back a few months ago and the service was so much better. I think they ironed out their kinks and are doing much better. I will definitely go back when i'm in Flagstaff!
(5)C. N.
Eh.. there's a few things wrong. It's WAY too dark at night in this place which makes me wonder what they're trying to hide. Also, the menu is barely readable do to the weird and inconsistent font they use. Also, the ramen is average. Definitely the best in FLAGSTAFF... but nothing like ramen in Tokyo. Overall, it was ok. I'll probably give them another chance.
(3)Joerg H.
Fusion of American and Japanese cuisine. Take a mediocre Ramen soup broth and drop fried ham and other junk in it. Far away from authentic Ramen. Would have given 1 star, but service was very nice.
(2)Dusty B.
Came here with a group of 11 on a Friday night and the place was pretty much empty which was lucky cuz its tiny! We had to split up into three separate tables which was fine. Since its so small they only have one waitress so the service was a bit slow. Onto the food...we were all sorely disappointed by the ramen. I tried multiple of their dishes and found that the broth for each dish was very bland and watery, not what you would expect from ramen. The noodles also tasted like instant ramen noodles which is never a good thing. Alas this is always the risk of trying 'new and hot' restaurants. Plus one star for interesting ideas for their ramen, but I will not be returning for the food.
(2)Patty H.
I love Japanese noodle bowls so this place is great. The chef does a special bowl each day in addition to a good selection of regular items on the menu. The Halfy Hour from 5 to 6 pm can't be beat in Flagstaff. You get a great bowl of ramen or udon noodles for $5. I've had the Mr. Carl Katsu and the Mothra bowls and both were delicious. The Mothra has just the right amount of spice to heat you up on a cold day. The broth on the Carl Katsu bowl was very tasty.
(5)Helen W.
One of the best bowls of ramen I've had since living in Japan. While it is certainly not authentic the different take on ramen and udon was wonderful. I got the Mr. Karl Kastu and my dad got the Mic Drop which were both delicious! They have a great selection of beer and cocktails. I would highly recommend.
(5)T J.
A solid 3.5. Fantastic happy hour. Good food.
(3)Monica B.
Great food! The Vlad was delicious! The staff on the other hand.....typical Flagstaff. The music was blaring at 11am. Great tunes, but so loud you couldn't have a conversation. I politely asked if they could turn it down just a notch since we were the only people in the restaurant. I was quickly informed that the establishment is a bar and bars have loud music. He did grudgingly turn down the tunes and we had a great lunchtime meal. I will be back!
(4)K H.
We ate at So SoBa last night and I really liked it. I had the vegetarian noodle bowl and it was different than anything I've ever had before. The flavors and textures were very layered. The tofu in it was surprisingly flavorful and yummy which is pretty hard to do with bland tofu. The "hot wheels" concept of hot sauces is very clever. The music was too loud for my taste. Our server was Willie and he was very attentive and fun.
(4)Brooke G.
This place opened up around 2-3 weeks ago and it's awesome!!! I went with a group of 5 people and we all tried different things.... all of us were impressed! I ordered the chile glazed udon which was super yummy. They have great mixed drinks and the happy hour is half off everything. We'll definitely be back soon!!! Yeah service is slightly slow but they just opened so I'm sure it'll speed up soon. One of my new favorite places in Flag!
(5)Scott B.
When my friend first told me about Sosoba, I was thrilled. I had been stationed in Japan for several years and was longing for some good authentic ramen. When I first came in, I was mildly disappointed. While good, the food didn't seem at all authentic. The flavors were weird to me, and I left pretty unhappy. After a few weeks, a friend urged me to try it again. I came in again, knowing not to expect what I would expect from a train station ramen joint in Fukuoka, Japan, I ate there. I was thoroughly impressed! The staff is spectacular. Every time I go in, they're attentive, friendly, and never let your water get empty. The food is prepared right before you (if you sit at the bar) so you get to see everything that goes into your delicious bowl of noodles. The flavors are unique, blend well together, and make for a great and creative eating experience. This isn't a "lower your expectations" type of review. It's more of a "know what you're expecting." If you go in expecting to be transported to Tokyo, you won't get to see this experience for what it's worth. If you go in expecting a creative spin on Tokyo, you'll be a happy diner.

I was searching for a nice place to eat at while staying in Flagstaf. I came across this Ramen shop and being that it's so cold here... I was like I'm down for some of that comfort food! Immediate as I walked in I could tell that this place was legit based off of the low light setting, hip decor, and music that they were playing. Ambiance points from the git go! In addition to all of that the spot closes at 2am! I'm a night owl and if I lived here, this place would be my go to spot! I ended up ordering the Mr Karl Katsu. The Pros: -Katsu on point! The chef knows how to make Katsu for real! -Noodles excellent quality. Almost tastes like sun noodles brand from Hawaii. -Presentation was nice. I love it when people take pride in their food. The Cons: -The noodles were hot but not the soup base! I couldn't understand why... I kept eating the noodles...hot! Then I'd drink the soup and it was luke warm. So confusing! I like everything hot! But that's just me I think...? -The soup base was a little sweet I believe. The flavor wasnt exactly my favorite. I will have to give them a 4 star on yelp. Although, I believe with a few tweaks to the food they could be a 5 star!

I feel like I am handing out 5 star reviews like no one's business. Fact is that I have had a couple of great meals in AZ this week. Searched for anything open in Flagstaff upon returning from a biblical day at the Grand Canyon, this place is open until 2am! Inside a small dining area, great tunes and a college crowd that made me feel 100 years old. I ordered the Mr Karl Katzen bowl, what treat! Fresh and (I assume) authentic, crispy chicken and bacon with fresh corn and a soft egg in miso broth. Also had an app of "blistered" peppers and washed it all down with a hum-dinger of an Old Fashioned. Very kind and super attentive staff. Loved it!
(5)Daniel B.
I was super happy to hear about a noodle shop opening up in Flagstaff, especially after spending a year abroad in the Tonkotsu Ramen capital: Fukuoka, Japan. Sadly, this place is overhyped and unnecessarily expensive. Ramen is a cheap late night dish for college students and (traditionally) Japanese salarymen, and I don't think the dishes I or my girlfriend (soba, same deal) got warranted the price. I got the Mr. Karl Katsu and my girlfriend got the Hostile Takeover. I'll review the Karl Katsu, which is a ramen dish. First thing I noticed, little to no broth. I guess you can say they get by this by hounding on the toppings but the broth is the base of any noodle dish. Because there was very little broth, it ended up being weirdly thick.. wrong consistency and lots of corn flavor completely overpowering the miso. Noodles were obviously frozen or possibly packaged -- nonstop frozen noodle shop anybody? The Katsu was probably the most passable part, but was still thickly breaded with almost no meat. The very small piece of nori just kind of sealed this experience of skimping. Fish cakes tasted like fish cakes -- no marks given or taken. The egg was ajitsuke tamago but lacked a lot of the flavor. Almost forgot about the bacon but it was pretty forgettable.. right? Honestly, I wanted to give this place high marks but it just ain't right, y'all. Poser. TL;DR: Why?
(1)Alex R.
I really liked this place, I had the Sweet Chili Glazed Udon with a side of Bad Panda ginger ale. Food was really good, service was awesome and it all didn't take long at all, worth the time it took. I can't wait to be back in Flagstaff to try other items from this place!
(5)samantha g.
Went for lunch today and it was great!!! Our server a brown haired girl ( can't remember her name) was so nice and walked us through the entire menu. Loved it and will be back soon!!!
(5)Brian C.
Confused Asian noodles in an interesting way. The flavor is good and very complex. I would say this place is good if one is interested to try something creative and new. This may not be the place you want if you are looking for "Japanese Ramen"
(4)Tooraj B.
It is unfair to rate an establishment bad just for the fun of it. Visiting from phoenix, we are so happy to stumble upon this gem, even with one bad rating. This is a local restaurant using local ingredients. I am a condiment junkie and i did not even have to use any sauces due to incredible flavors. Kudos. By far one of the best noodles i have had.
(5)Subhadip R.
the karl katsu was good, but the SUV was not. nice ambiance, and location.
(4)Sarah E.
The Mic Drop Bowl is amazing! A fun place with great staff, high quality ingredients, and awesome drinks!
(5)Jillian P.
This place is awesome. Service was fast, food came in a timely manner and tasted incredible. We ordered the Mic Drop and the Pork and Kim Chi Tostada. Both had good flavors and were healthy portions as we split both and were full and satisfied. I will definitely be coming back on my next trip to Flagstaff.
(5)Jack L.
Great service, food and unique cocktails!
(4)Ulf B.
Just went in. Really liked this place. Had a yummy soup. Good hangover food. ;) Full bar and specialty cocktails with beer on tap. Owner is Tyler. Cool guy and quite personable. I sat at the bar. Walking down an unassuming ally you wouldn't think you'd come across a cool and quaint little place like this. I'll be back next time I'm in town.
(5)Michael H.
We stopped in for lunch on our road trip to Santa Fe, NM. We were greeted very warmly by the gentleman (I think he was the owner). He also was our server, he suggested a beer they had on tap Victory Gose Sour and it was delicious. We both ordered the katsu ramen bowl. The add ins to the bowl were all great! The miso broth however didn't really have a great depth of flavor.....it almost was a sweet broth. Overall it was a great place I would go back and try out some other items from the Menu. I would recommend giving it a try to anyone. Super friendly atmosphere!!!
(3)Sam K.
Such a great place. Had the Karl Katsu with delicious chicken Katsu, egg, bacon ramen and the broth and some shishito peppers. I did notice our waitress spent too much time chatting it up with certain tables, which led to our steaming hot bowls waiting at the pass to become lukewarm by the time they made it to our table. Same thing with the drinks, kind of a long turn around time to get them, so we just ordered the next round as soon as we got the current drinks. I'll probably try giving it a shot for lunch, the broth is amazing.
(4)Sophie W.
This place is great! Everything from the noodles themselves to the sauces and broths used in the dishes is absolutely fantastic. All of the flavors are expertly balanced and just downright tasty. The establishment itself is small and a bit loud due to the music playing (good music, just a bit loud... I had no problems talking to the person next to me). Beer list focused on local beers (wanderlust, mother road, etc.), which was a treat. Service was excellent and laid back. Can't wait to go back.
(5)Hector P.
Enjoyed our meal today. Place is clean, friendly staff and delicious food. Most likely we'll comeback soon again.
(4)Garrick M.
The staff at this restaurant is better than anywhere I have ever been. They let us sample three beers. They insisted on us doing this. I will come back and eat the food one day, but the beer specials were on fleek.
(5)Jamie M.
Sosoba was just kind of so so for us. The service was slow and they forgot our appetizer all together. They did comp it at the end when we said we would still like it. I had the chili sauce ramen with udon noodles and it was pretty tasty; however, the pork belly was gelatinous, fatty and unappetizing. I ended up removing it from mine. My fiancé got the one with all the different pork products in it. He was sad he didn't get the sweet chili one I got because the sauce was really good. He did not care for his at all and also had terrible pork belly. We were disappointed because we love ramen and noodles, but this just didn't quite hit the spot. However, it is a cheap and HUMONGOUS meal.
(3)Stewart W.
This place is the bomb. It is a total chef hangout. Josh the chef makes some bomb food. I will definitely be back often.
(5)Gunnar J.
It takes a lot for me to give a 5 star... This place is worthy. The cocktails are fantastic & all of the food we had was first rate. Just wish they had one in Salt Lake! If you like good food & drink come here.
(5)Care P.
We were kinda ignored. Maybe because we had kids? (Older & behaved). Very $$ for what you get. Very different flare on food. Not recommended unless you like to try different stuff. I was not impressed.
(1)Maggie P.
I don't know... this place has awesome reviews, the ambiance is cool, and the service is pretty great. I really want to like the food. I really do. Everyone else seems to.. But meh. This is the second time I've been here, and I will probably try it one more time. The balls of fire are delicious, but the noodle dishes leave a lot to be desired.
(3)Sam L.
Sosoba sucks. I had been waiting for a long time to try the place and was really excited but then I went. Very, very mediocre and below average. Way way way way and one more way overpriced. KNOCK KNOCK!!!!! ON YOUR HEAD!!!!! YOU CAN'T STICK RAMEN NOODLES IN A BOWL AND CHARGE A KINGS RANSOM!!!!! ....And, no matter how you try to season it yourself (because how it comes to you is very bland and not very good) nothing you do or amount of seasoning you put in can mask or fix it (and they have like 3 thousand different sauces, trust me, I tried) This is the other problem. If a dish like rice or tacos or chicken, etc is just so-so, you can spice it or sweeten it or whatever because it's a dry dish, it works with dry plates. Anytime you have a watery dish like all of Sosoba's are, trying to throw a flavor in it, after the fact, mostly never works cuz obviously its watery. Even if Sosoba's prices were 1/2 of what they are now (which is what they're maybe worth) I'd still not eat there....OUCH!!!!! I say go to one of the Thai joints in town (NOT DARA THOUGH) at least you can get some noodle dishes that are good and not get nailed in the ass on price.
(1)Jake W.
As a visitor from Oakland, where Japanese gastropubs are everywhere, I did not expect a world-class spot like this in Flagstaff. It's awesome, fabulous staff (thanks Nancy!), and they take true pride in everything, right down to the homemade hot sauces and limoncello. Highly recommended.
(5)Heather P.
My husband, friend and I decided on a whim To stop in here and was the best decision ever. We all got the Zheng He and holy cow I have never had anything like this before. It was amazing. We also had the Mac and cheese balls (sriracha on the side). Who knew what a combo that would be. Can't wait to go back and try more stuff. The wait staff that afternoon was a little slow and inattentive to our empty water glasses but it was not a deal breaker by any means. Go check this place out pronto!
(5)Ben L.
This was the best bowl of soup I have ever eaten in my entire life. The menu is very small and they claim to accommodate for all sorts of dietary restrictions (vegan, and gluten free) I was worried about the cacophony of meats listed on the mic drop, but it was the closest thing to what I was in the mood to eat. The balance and portion of each ingredient was perfect. I finished every drop, a testament to both the phenomenal flavored and the size of the meal. I was also delighted to find a sour on draft. It came in the appropriate glass and wasn't over portioned (last 6oz in a pint of sour can be unbearable.) service was excellent. Dogs are accommodated on the patio, which has great people watching. 2x beers, two soups and mochi came to $30 + tip. I will eat here every time I visit flagstaff. Was open on Monday for lunch. (They are trying this. Not sure it will stick, but as of 8/3/15 they are here on Mondays.)
(5)Shhhh H.
Food is good, but the servers were pretty rude. Enough to not go back.
(2)Emerson J.
Traditional? Absolutely not. Incredibly creative and savory? Absolutely. Words cannot describe the how amazing the food is here. For parties of 1 or 2, I recommend sitting at the bar. It's pretty awesome to watch the chef create masterpiece bowls of noodle soup. He moves around like a happy octopus; doing 8 things at once with a smile.
(5)Alisha K.
The Mothra is amazing and not too spicy, I was very full and very satisfied.
(5)Chris H.
Very cool noodle shop that you need to tell your friends about. We had never tried this place but when in Rome :) Everything was fresh and very tasty. We sat outside so we could enjoy the music right across the way and watch the people go by. The server was great and right on top of everything. The menu was a little different but he took the time to explain everything to us so we could order the right thing. Can't wait to get up there again and try something new there this time. Try the "Mothra" you won't be sorry and make sure you sit outside.
(5)Maricel G.
The ramen is good considering I've had the best of the best Ramen in Seattle. The outdoor bar area is nice and quietly away from the main road of ROUTE 66. The serving size could be a little bigger and they could add Nori as the traditional Ramen soups are served with. I'd come back for more.
(4)Theresa S.
We wanted something different from our usual Flagstaff haunts and literally stumbled upon this hidden gem. I got the Udon and it was amazing! So much flavor!! My husband got the spicy Mac-n-cheese appetizer balls and the pork tostada appetizer. Delicious! I'm looking forward to our next trip North to try something else amazing on their menu. Yum!!
(4)Jennifer S.
The staff are super friendly and they have a great happy hour deals from 5-6pm daily. This is a Japanese fusion joint. I'm not a fan of Asian fusion but this was popular with all the customers. I recommend the Mic Drop with udon, the Katsu had a funky broth but they used ramen which always makes things better.
(3)Ryan N.
Had to try this place because I love ramen. Its definitely an interesting take on ramen and udon, however, its alright. Don't get me wrong, the ramen is good, but its a very westernized version of it. I had "the mic drop" which was basically every form of pork possible on a bed of ramen in a rich porky broth. I felt that it was almost overwhelming with all of the ingredients in it. It had chicharrons, braised pork belly, ham fries, bonito flakes, egg, and kimchee. The beauty of ramen lies in its simplicity and I think that this place kind of ignores that theory of ramen and overloads it. Not really my thing but great if you love pork and trying new things.
(3)Lauren W.
Yummmmmmm this place is delish. The sweet chili udon bowl has to be the best item on the menu also the pork belly appetizer (I can't remember The name) seriously incredible texture and flavor. I also had the salad with citrus vinegarette dressing it was good but I should have added one of the options like tofu or chicken the salad seemed boring after a few bites. The mic drop was pretty good but we weren't into the flavor of the broth. Still we love this place and its damn good. Can't wait to try everything else on the menu. Also the staff is very attentive and the cocktails look interesting we will try them next time.
(5)Nicole H.
On a random trip to Flagstaff, we stopped in this little place...We were very pleasantly surprised. I ordered the MicDrop and WOW. I love exploring new places and foods, this is a winner and I may take a little trip to Flagstaff just for this place!
(5)Kelsey C.
The best spot in flag. Everything on the menu is delicious. I prefer the sweet glazed chili udon bowl. The cocktail Orange Agent is my favorite. I've been to sosaba well over a dozen times and never have a bad experience. The owner/chef is super talented and a nice guy. Definitely try sosaba!!
(5)Annmarie P.
Stopped in on a 38 degree afternoon in May to have a bowl of noodles. I had the Mr. Karl Katsu: ramen with chicken katsu, corn, carrots, bacon, kamaboko ( yum!) and a soft boiled egg in a corn and white miso broth. It was very tasty, but the corn flavor was a tad stronger than the miso flavor. My only recommendation would be to add a traditional, shoyu base ramen dish to the menu, for those who may want something simple. Great service, friendly staff. I've had the "noodle dream" and will return!
(4)Cassandra L.
We were in Flagstaff for a couple days and I checked Yelp for some restaurant suggestions. I'm so glad I found out about Sosoba and ordered the Mothra, because it was my favorite meal of this whole vacation! It was flavorful and filling and just delicious. The tofu was so soft and perfect. I will definitely return if I'm ever in Flagstaff again.
(5)Kelly R.
I really liked this place. Although its not authentic Ramen, the fusion of flavors still reminded me of Ramen places back in SFO and LA. There isn't much variety of Noodles in Flagstaff so I am assuming this is your best bet. The place is clean and service is EXCELLENT. My bowl of Katsu ramen had a great amount of toppings and the broth was very good, I could taste the miso and my noodles were buttery and delicious. If you want more broth or change the toppings just ask! Loved the vibe and the food, their hotwheel cart full of hotsauces was cute and pretty stocked. The portions could be bigger but it still hit the spot. They are open late and I will be back to try the cocktails!
(4)Rusty C.
Everything on the menu is amazing. Well put together. Even if it sounds strange, the chef is right, this place is a diamond in the north. I'll be back next time I'm in the area, please stay awesome!
(5)Ayla R.
Sosoba hit the spot for dinner tonight! While in Flagstaff/Sedona for Easter, the hubs and I were looking for a final meal before our drive back to Tucson. I looked on Yelp! for some help. It lead us in an alley of downtown Flagstaff at a noodle joint called Sosoba. It had a great local Flagstaff feel. Tattooed servers, local decor and the smell of Asian food just like I hoped. I was happy to see a blatantly vegan dish called the S.U.V. (So Ur Vegan) and ordered it immediately where C ordered some sort of beef and shitake mushroom Ramen (called the Hostile Something?). I tried to order coffee and our extremely great server offered to go to the coffee place across the street for me. Talk about going above and beyond! Mine was hearty with thick noodles, dried yams and tons of veggies. I asked for Siracha and while adding a gallon of Siracha to my soup as usual, our server brought over a bottle of "Dave's Scorpion Hot Sauce" and sung its praises but warned of it being extreme hot! We both happily put a few drops in our soup and loved it! We were both really impressed by our experience and the service!
(5)Kelton S.
Epic food, great people and such a fun atmosphere for a great any time of day kind of experience, especially late at night! Bravo Tyler, Josh and Team!
(5)Brenden P.
If you have lived in Japan and experienced real soba and ramen places, avoid this one. If you don't know the difference, then feel free to indulge yourself.
(2)Jason M.
I was not sure what to expect from this place as most places around Flagstaff and Arizona can portray themselves as being stellar but are typically less than mediocre! I took a chance, ordered the Pork belly udon noodles with kimchi and so on. Excellent! Absolutely perfect roach coach food out of a brick and mortar. Everything was done to perfection, seasoned properly and the flavor was non-stop. I have had my share of noodles through all major cities in CA and I have to say this place is so far a contender for frequent visits and money well spent. I will be back...maybe tomorrow...?? I will be back and I will frequent this place as long as they keep my taste buds happy! Words of advice folks. Just because you have great reviews does not mean it's time to slack. Keep striving for excellence. You are now in my top 5 places to eat in this town. Oh and there is no 6. I only have 5 that I would go to and spend money and time at. So bam! There ya go! Keep the noodles coming!!!
(5)Van N.
This place is sooooo good!!! I was definitely impress to see Flagstaff had a ramen shop. Our server was so nice and helpful. We got one Raman and udon bowl and we didn't have one thing in our bowl we didn't like. I like how they have a rack of assorted hot sauces, great addition to the bowls.
(5)Yaeko M.
We enjoyed interesting / creatve ramen and soba. We stopped by here looking at the yelp review on the way to sedonam The soup was little bit too salty for me.
(4)Mackenzie W.
I'm updating my review because my boyfriend and I went there again last night and it was great! We both ordered the chili glazed udon and it was superb. The pork belly in it was mouthwatering, and there were lots of veggies (which I like.) The service was great! We will definitely be going back.
(4)Andrea S.
Came in with family including two kids and ordered 4 separate bowls. Thought it would be great since my kids are huge Ramen and noodle fans in general. I guess we thought they were all "ok", maybe it's a case of raised expectations due to the very high reviews. We all thought the noodles were pretty bland and disappointing. I had read reviews about how good the pork belly was and I felt that mine was overcooked and tough. We also asked for suggestions on cocktails and ended up ordering an old-fashioned that was renamed as something else, and it was straight whiskey... WAY too strong when you're under the impression you're ordering some kind of mixed cocktail drink. So maybe it was an off day or maybe it's my snobbery getting in the way of what is probably very excellent post-drunk 2am college-kid Flagstaff food.
(3)Jessica C.
This place has one of the best udons that I've ever had. I tried the sweet chili glazed upon and it tasted really really good - just the right amount of (slightly) spicy with sweet. Oh and did I mention the grilled pork belly? Super tender and nice! I also like the atmosphere a lot. The place was small. The music was upbeat but not very loud. Will definitely come back here on the next trip to Flagstaff.
(5)Patch R.
I'm vegetarian and I love the mothra. It's probably the only thing I will ever get. Some friends of mine have had some stomach issues related to eating the sweet pork dish for leftovers. C'est la vie meat eaters! Coming back again and again and again...normally for happy hour. But lots of love for this new joint. Real and fun cute staff too who know how to serve

I loved Sosoba Noodles so much that I had them for dinner two nights in a row. I first tried the Mothra and it surpassed my expectations, so I came back and grabbed the Sweet Chili Udon and I knew that I fell in love. You guys are the best!

Some of the best food I've ever eaten in Flagstaff. My personal favorites are the Calamari and the Balls of fire. However, having tried multiple noodle dishes, I can also say, that I have yet to have a single dish that I didn't just love. if your living in Flagstaff or just passing through, and you get the chance; give this place a try.

Went to lunch with my sister and was super delighted that there is a noodle shop in downtown! I had the Pork Belly, chicharon and kimchee dish with rice noodles (I had it in my mind that I really wanted pho). I can say I've had better just plain Jane udon and kimchee but the combination of ingredients was delicious and the soft boiled egg that came with it was heaven in a bite. The waiter we had was awesome. Super attentive and friendly. The prices, imo, seemed a little on the high side. What I would consider a 9-10$ noodle dish was 12-13$ so not a huge discrepancy but worth noting since college students are their primary demographic. In summation I really look forward to eating here again!
