It was recommended by Yelp so we went in. Smells yummy but that's about all we got. It was 15m before someone came to take our order and even then half the items weren't available for some reason. I mean, warm spinach salad? Anyway the waiter takes our order. We wait. and wait. and wait. It was 45m when I walked up to the counter and asked about the order. He said that he had to run an errand and the salad and pizza would be right out. 5m later we walked after paying for the rootbeer. Really, more attention to the fundamentals of the restaurant business would have helped. No joy here.

For f sake get your kids outside after you finish. I'm trying to eat my dinner. The hard surfaces and poor acoustics are turning this quaint grotto into a shouting match. The poor girl forgot our drinks, she's running the dining room alone. Here they are: sodas in a can. No refill. Finally the food. Best ingredients from a variety of local and not so local direct suppliers. Some cheeses made on site. This is not dinner by SYSCO. Everyone in the kitchen waved as we left. If I lived in Flagstaff I would be here frequently. Photo (C)2007 Deborah Lee Soltesz

In Flag last weekend and felt like delivery... picked this place because it had good ratings on Yelp. My wife and I frequently travel and I can honestly say this pizza is easily one of the best Ive had. Crust is its own food group! Simply Amazing! If your looking for some good delivery then give them a try, we had the white sauce with basil and tomato (five stars) Warning!! if you are expecting a heavy pie you will be disappointed, this zaa is thin and flavorful.

My wife and I have tried pizza in a lot of places, and in a lot of moods. , We've seen the good, the bad, and the all the rest. Of all we've tried, this place really stands above the rest. The ingredients are so fresh, and so good that the first bite generally makes the nerves leading to my taste buds burn. The guys who work here are post-hippypocalyptic types who seem to really care about locally sourced, and lovingly made foods. Our family comes to Flagstaff once each year, and part of the draw is definitely this pizza. We wouldn't miss it, and it definitely makes the 500 mile drive worth it.

This is the best pizza place in Flagstaff. The pizza is prepared like an authentic Italian pizza. The crust is tasty, without and flavor gimmicks like Dominoes and Pizza Hut have been doing recently. The toppings were generous, and the cheese was distributed perfectly. All of the ingredients are organic and locally sourced. I would order one of their vegan pies, which didn't contain cheese but was amazing all the same, since the crust and the sauce were decent enough to carry it. Like many people have noted, the price is a little high, but to me that is because the pizza is high quality. The only thing I would avoid is their salads, which are very expensive for the amount of premium meat and cheese they put on it. Everything else is pretty good. Another note about the slow service. I have noticed that the service has dipped a bit over the past 4 years. This usually occurs when Marco, the owner is absent. I am not defending the service they had, but I do think its worth mentioning. My last order here was on a Sunday, and everything turned out fine. I have had some problems in the past, but for the most part they do well. In all, I would still highly recommend this place because it has the best pizza in town, and is among my top 5 favorite pizza places in the country. If you are a fan of the major pizza chains, or cheap greasy slices, you might be a little disappointed, because the pizza here is very different from the norm. It's my favorite pizza place in AZ (yes even better than Pizzeria Bianco), and I recommend you give this place a visit.

Not a perfect Jersey crust but as close as you get off the East Coast. Amazing ingredients. All local, seasonal, hand crafted. They put out a top product.

Moving to AZ from Philadelphia recently, I suppose I took for granted and never really considered not being in close proximity to even moderately decent pizza for reasonable pizza prices ($12-$16 for a basic 16"). Living in Flagstaff, like I do, is a disturbing wash of ridiculous 12" pies made from frozen dough, and plastic cheese, and being sold for roughly $18.50. I was constantly baffled and genuinely disgusted and enraged by this. Coming from (what I thought, at least) was a thoroughly mediocre pizza town of Philly, I was expecting at least comparable quality and price, because again, I THOUGHT Philly pizza was largely underwhelming. How wrong I was. Philly pizza made my first few pies in AZ look like plates of dog shit smeared with curdled milk. Until I came here, that is, and found very good quality ingredients, a proper crust made from scratch dough, cool people, and a correct price for a real sized pizza. No 12" Large here, like in many of the other establishments I've been in Flagstaff and Williams. No, here the designation of "Large" means a 16" pizza, which is the correct way to do it. Cooked properly, crispy, appropriate crust, good quality sauce made from San Marzano tomatoes, and really good quality cheese. They respect their pizza, and that makes me respect them.

I feel sorry for the yelpers who go to this place because they have good ratings. For how long the wait is to actually eat, this place is not worth it to ever come back. I don't care if it's the best food in the world, I refuse to wait at least 45 minutes for the food, when there was one person there for take-out and nobody else seated besides us Seriously, there was nobody else there, which should've tipped us off immediately. They don't have a great selection of anything really, including, apparently, ice for our water. Our waiter, after about 45 minutes of us sitting there by ourselves, told us they never usually put ice with their filtered water but they would "do it for us." This guy that served us was nice enough, but he seldom checked up on us, while we were there sitting and wondering how long it takes to put some breadsticks and pizza in the oven. The cheese breadsticks with pesto on top finally came out in what seemed like eternity, and it just did not satisfy our hunger. Keep in mind, I was at work before this and barely at anything in over six hours. The breadsticks were nothing special at all, trust me on this. The pizza came shortly, and we ordered the Perfecto. I'm still slightly confused on what's in this, because the menu from the website differed from the menu at the place, which ALSO differed from what was actually on the pizza. There was spinach on it, which was on neither of the menus. I do have to say, the crust was very good. It was thin, not too doughy, and had just the right crunch to it. I actually ate the crust to three of the slices. However, everything just lacked flavor. It didn't have that homemade greasy taste of a good old fashioned pizza. It certainly was not the best pizza I have ever had. Not even close. So you can imagine how disappointed I was to wait all this time to mediocre food. I would pick Fratelli's or even Domino's to this anyday. After reading all the reviews about how long the wait is for them (even the ones who complimented the food), it assures me that I will never go back to this place again.

  • Brad G.

The wait has been _much_ better in the last 3 months. Pizza ready for pick-up in about 20-30 minutes, which seems about right. Tasty, locally sourced ingredients. Pies built and cooked with great attention and skill. Highly recommended!

Love their pizza! Very long wait so order way ahead but worth the wait!

Pizza was great. Too bad it took so long to get it. We were dining in, and had our order held up by phone orders that came after ours. How do I know? They admitted it to us. I asked why my business was less important than the phone orders, and they just shrugged. Again, the food was great, but I see them closing down due to their incompetence.

    (2)
  • Jason M.

Great pizza. But yes I agree the wait is stupid. Either get more ovens and employees. I think it has become to popular for its own good that they can't keep up. Even the owner is scatter brained behind the counter. Order early is the key....maybe??? I don't know, I always have waited for 45min++. I have not been back in years so that should tell you something....

After reading the rave reviews here, I was prepared for some great pizza; however, our dine-in experience was quite dismal. We came in from the snow and freezing temperatures to find they've got no heater, and somehow it's actually colder in the dining room than outside (which we discovered on our way out, when the sun had long since set). One member of our party asked for coffee, which they didn't have, offering to bring her a cup of hot water. "Tea then?" she asked. "Nope. We've only got the water," came the reply. She was REALLY unhappy about this and made biting comments about the absence of hot beverages whenever the poor tie-dye shirted guy came by the table, which was RARE. I should add that we were the only people in the room the entire time. No other customers were there when we came in and none came and sat down before we left. Sodas came in cans. They were out of regular Coke and sent someone to the store to buy some. Over half an hour later the waiter comes out and hands us the warm cans and cups with no ice. Our food order was relatively simple. Cheesy bread sticks (which the waiter assured would be out in a minute when ordering them), a 12" meat lovers pie, and a 3-item calzone. They were out of meatballs for the calzone, so I made it chicken, sausage, and caramelized onions. The cheesy sticks didn't appear for 45 minutes. When they finally came (pretty much an individual-sized cheese pizza cut up into strips), they didn't do much to appease our appetites. As we continued to sit at the table, clutching our coats tighter to try to get warm in the dim light, the server came out to inform us that our order was still behind two others (two take-out orders, that is). We then asked for our order to be made to-go. When we finally got our orders after another half hour, we jumped in the car and ate as we headed down to Phoenix. My calzone was comparable to a Costco chicken bake with it being more enlongated and cylindrical than a turnover. It was good, but I might as well have hit up Costco for a $3 chicken bake. The meat lovers pizza, unfortunately, lacked meat. My boyfriend and the other member of our party weren't happy with it. On top of all of this, the bill had come out to $40, and I can't for the life of me account for a chunk of it. $12 for the pizza, $8 for the calzone, $6 for the cheesy breadsticks. We never got a price for two warm cans of Coke, and it wasn't until we were several miles away, on an icy road, before we gave the price a second thought since we were in such a hurry to leave. I'm sure this place would have been great if we'd gotten take-out or had it delivered (if we stayed in Flagstaff), but we didn't and we were fairly disappointed as a result. I would be open to rating higher on subsequent visits, but this burned us pretty badly.

We left after 50 minutes and no food! Our waiter was very absent minded. We got our beverages about 15 minutes after ordering because I went up and asked for them. Our order was not taken until we had been there 15 minutes. It wasn't busy, there was only one other table. When we inquired about the food, we were told our waiter went out to run an errand??????

I spent 8 years back east enjoying real pizza. This was great pizza, authentic tasting and clean. One star short of 5 because delivery took an hour and 20 minutes. Best pizza in Flag!

Scene: Blowing snow, unplowed roads, quiet winter night. Situation: Hungry out-of-towners too lazy to trek to Denny's (again) for dinner, craving comfort food to be delivered to the hotel room Solution: New Jersey Pizza Company! :) Ordered a chicken/bacon/pineapple/aged cheddar cheese pizza...and it made me feel like I was back in NY. Thin pieces of pizza with just the right about of cheese. The toppings were not overloaded and not too greasy...perfect for a supper snack meal! Thank you to NJ Pizza Co for making me feel at home in snowy AZ! Tip-bits: newjerseypizzacompany.com $1 delivery fee that goes to driver 16" pizza good for 4 adults, 2 slices each ETD was rather accurate

TOOK TWO HOURS FOR DELIVERY TO ARRIVE. We were given 2 free sodas for our trouble. Nice. The service greatly detracted from what was very good pizza. We ordered a 16", two item, with cheese bread all for just $21.

Ordered a small pizza, large house salad, and breadsticks at 4:30 knowing that they are slow. Was told that it would take 35-40 minutes and it arrived at 6:20. Food was good but once again they were completely out of ranch and they had been open for 30 minutes. Every time I have ordered from them (7 or 8 times) they are out of either ranch or BBQ sauce, or both. They are only open from 4-9 so it seems like they could make some ranch in the afternoon that would last for the night, or until at least 4:30. Also, every time i have placed an order over the phone, they never ask cash or card, so be prepared to stop the guy from hanging up to give him the card info. If not for the slow service and lack of ranch, they would have gotten 5 stars

The resturant was very comfy, quiet. There was one other table besides our's and tons of people in and out for take out. We didn't have an overly long wait and our food was amazing. We were full at the end of our meal and will definately go back again.

I have been to this place twice now and I loved it both times. I wonder if they mostly have carry-out business because we were in the restaurant for about an hour and we saw a few carry-out people and only one other table, or maybe a slow night, I'm not sure. Some advice though, if you are planning on going give yourself at least an hour, the pizza takes a while to make but oh man is it worth it! We had the cheese-breadsticks as an appetizer, they were sooo good, for dinner we had the 12" white pizza. Awesome pizza. Our server, I don't remember his name, was very nice. The prices aren't bad either, for a 12" specialty pizza and the appetizer is was about $16 not including a tip. I will definitely be back but we will probably order for a pick up instead.

The pizza here is incredible and luckily dramatic changes are about to happen: 1.) They are ramping up their operation with new menu, more employees, new equipment, etc. Because of this and a variety of other reasons (see next) the "slow food" here won't be nearly as SLOW!! LOL, take out those reviews and this place is 5 STAR all the way. 2.) Rumor has it they are crawling out of the back streets and moving DOWN TOWN to the hottest food area of Flagstaff. Brand spanking newly renovated historic building, easy to find, and other great places in the same building and nearby... AND PARKING!!! And if you're in Flagstaff or the University you can walk there from anywhere... this is the best food within walking distance to the University HANDS DOWN... no more walking all the way to the North end for marginal food. 3.) Rumor has it they've revamped the menu and will be serving all sorts of local, organic, "slow" food of equal quality to their pizza... I'll be there a week after they open with a special eye on their SERVICE... don't screw it up guyz... "slow food" doesn't mean SLOW at the restaurant... !! 4.) I hear they will have a bar!!?? 5.) They're going to have an outdoor patio as well... I hope they cover it and have plastic sides and heaters for the shoulder months, but I suppose we can't have everything. Finally, NJPizza is ready for prime time! Cant wait till it opens, you must check this place out the food is really quite remarkable.

Fantastic pizza! They have a menuboard which shows where each ingredient in your pie came from, and try to keep it as local and high-quality as possible. We've eaten here for 8 years, and it's my family's favorite pizza in town, bar none.

Easily one of my favorite pizza places. Excellent selection of pies and all worth the money. I really enjoy the attention to ingredients (they buy mostly local and make their mozzarella in house). The wings are very good too. Few things to keep in mind... The service is SLOW and ran out of blue cheese and ranch (kind of annoying when you order wings) and no beer (this would make the wait a lot better). BUT... I understand the amount of effort that goes in to great food and I'm not very needy. It does take A LOT to impress me... and this place has. I tell everyone that I know who lives in or is going to visit Flagstaff to eat here.

My wife and I ate here based on other Yelp reviews and walked away with an amazing pizza experience. Initially we were put off by the exterior, but the cold case with local ingredients right inside the front door won us over. The pizza crust was in a league of its own. I know nothing of the art in making crust, but these guys obviously do. My wife and I both think this pizza is in our top ten list, maybe top five. If you are expecting Domino's efficient order taking and delivery, I suggest you call Domino's. Otherwise, sit back and enjoy fantastic pizza made with fresh ingredients.

I don't consider myself a pizza guru. I like pizza, but I'm not a pizza groupie or anything like that. I have been to New York, and Italy - so I guess my taste-buds know a thing or two about the pie... so, with that, here are my thoughts on New Jersey Pizza Co: Perfect ingredients- perfectly prepared. Crazy 'I drank the KoolAid' attention to detail, right down to the sourcing by season of their tomatoes... Including house-made cheeses. First things first - we started with salads, which were exquisitely fresh - each ingredient (according to our server) had its own back-story. It was nice to be reminded of how a tomato is really supposed to taste. They have two sizes - 12" and 18". There are maybe 15-20 designer pizzas, or you can free-style it yourself. I really like it that they don't have pepperoni. One thing: Location is easy to miss because the building is really small and they didn't spend a dime (ok, maybe a dime) on decore ... with them it's all about the pizza as high art. Lastly, they do not have a liquor license, but they will not stop you from bringing in your own beer or wine. PS: My wife thinks I'm being too generous and thinks I should knock them down because of the modest decore / creature comforts. I think she should get her own Yelp account ... hey, I'm just saying ...

I used to think Flagstaff was a blackhole for good pizza... I operated under this assumption until I met Marco and he treated me to one of his delectable pies. They do it right here. Somehow, they've worked around the altitude of flag, and they pump out world class pies out of this place. Get anything here and you will be satisfied. Marco is a pizza mad scientist. One drunken night, we chatted for an hour or so about pizza and how he does it. I don't remember much from this conversation except for the fact that I know he has his water tweaked to perfection, uses the proper mix of flower, doesn't screw with cheap ingredients, and knows how to make a proper pizza sauce that is neither to sweet our tart. He backed up this conversation by rolling back to his shop at 3 am, threw together a sausage pie, and a Margherita. The Margherita blew my freaking mind... It stood up blow for blow with Bianco's, Grimaldi's and some joints I visited in Italy. He then added that he cooked those pies in a regular oven at the shop because it takes to long to heat up his super legit fatty oven. To say the least I was shocked at his prodigious mastery of pizza making. The guy is such a fantastic chef, he cooked my band and I blueberry flapjacks the next morning, with homemade everything and it was so good, I was trying to convince him to start a diner too. Seriously, do yourself a favor and go here, and if you ever think of ordering from somewhere else, don't... it's like throwing your money away.

Granted, the "they have vegan cheese" reviews are what brought me here, but just to see the menu, where they tell you the sources of all of their toppings, and their use of local grown produce... Places like this are great. They do have vegan cheese, which was great for me, but it made it better that we had garlic and tomatoes that were roasted / dried there... not bought in a jar and tossed on my pie. The staff was awesome, and incredibly friendly, talking to us about our trip, giving us sightseeing tips for the Grand Canyon. One tip, if you are going at night it is very dark in the area. We drove past it 4 or so times before we saw it.

For the price of these pizzas, you're not going to get anything better in any self-respecting, two-or-more-horse town in Arizona. This is the only restaurant in the state that I've been to that bothers to tell you where their ingredients come from, and roughly 75% of their ingredients came from places in AZ or CA, many of which are devoted to sustainable food production. The crust on their pizzas is positively sublime. Airy and well-risen, it has a texture that is truly to die for and you may never see anywhere else in your life. I even had to ask them what kind of flour they were using, and if they used purified water to make it (no really, it's that good). You won't find Romanesque deep-dish items here replete with enough calories to fuel an army for a day, nor will they put any more meat on a pizza to provide anything more than good flavor (unless you order several meats, which kind of defeats their pseudosustainable focus). You will, however, find a truly honest pizza which costs as much as the other "honest" pizza you've probably heard about yet is 100 times better (and you definitely don't want to ask Papa John's where they get their ingredients, nor will they volunteer that information for you). I didn't find their ingredients to be particularly "exotic," but I found them to be particularly good. They tasted like the lands they were from. I didn't find the ambiance to be spectacular, nor the service to be extremely punctual. But I don't eat for the scenery or the other superficial trappings most of the time. Excellence requires patience. I'd rather wait a little more for truly special flavors than have them rushed to me poorly done so I can shovel them in and leave (although many lesser restaurants and reviewers definitely prefer this model). Call ahead if you're in such a damn hurry. Respect their mission, respect their practice. This is as close to the "slow food" and "local food" movements as you're going to get in AZ. Eat it, cherish it, and RECOGNIZE. Food is what connects us to everything that is meaningful, and these guys truly get it.

Mmmm New Jersey Pizza! The wait is long whether you dine in or order delivery, but either way it is worth it for the pizzas that this place makes. I love them for their vegan pizza, and that tasty salad with the nuts in it. Once our delivery was so late that our driver gave us free San Pelligrino sodas to make it up to us. I've heard that they occasionally have vegan desserts although I have never seen them.

After waiting 75 minutes for our pizza and them serving pizzas for all the to go orders before ours but ordered after, out came a pizza of the standard of Round Table, but worse. Its a sham that they call themselves NJ pizza.

  • Albert H.

Great pizza in this tiny restaurant. Golden crust had a wonderful texture and flavor, and the ingredients were flavorful as well. IBC root beer to wash it down... and we were all happy. Negatives include the fact that they don't have a liquor license, or at least didn't sell beer when I asked. Location feels a little sketchy, especially since the bus stop is right there where people park facing the road. There's only 7 or 8 tables in here so it fills up fast.

This place is a crack up. The owners are fanatical about ingredients and actually have a chalkboard over the counter that lists the farm or provider of each ingredient. The make their sauce and mozzarella fresh and both are exceptional. Even the chicken wings are from Young's Farm chickens! This is not the place to go if you're in a hurry, and if you want delivery, plan at least an hour and a half ahead. That's not meant as a criticism either, just the way it is. These guys are into quality and that takes time. NJPC is a must try.

  • Andy D.

By far, the best pizza I've had in a long, long time. When I first came to Arizona, I wanted to go to Pizzeria Bianco in Phoenix. Of course, I underestimated the actual amount of people that would be waiting. So I resigned myself to having substandard pizza until I could actually eat there Well, New Jersey Pizza Company here in Flagstaff was great. Its a little bit out of the way, but still a short drive since Flagstaff is pretty small. It's definitely better than the other pizzas I have had anywhere in downtown. They even offer vegan pizzas with vegan cheese, so if you know any vegans go here. The crust was done perfectly. It was chewy and golden brown without being burnt. The toppings were quality ingredients. They don't just use black olives out of the can, they use kalamata olives. They don't just have pre-shredded mozzarella, they have in-house made fresh mozzarella. My crimini and roasted garlic pizza was so good. Lots of mushrooms, and tons of whole cloves of roasted garlic topped my pizza. It was the perfect pie.

I would give this place 5 stars but... - doesn't open till 7:30 or thereabouts - small dining room - staff are slow to clean up - the sign outside is small, makes it hard to find but + awesome pizza + selection of 15+ pizzas + crust and ingredients are great

This is the BEST pizza in Flagstaff. ******** Be careful on weekends or if you are in a rush. Excellence cannot be rushed. Perfection cannot be sped up. Take out is a great option -otherwise come mid-week and be ready for the best pizza and salads you will ever have- even if it takes many extra minutes of waiting.

    (5)
  • David L.

Called in for a take out pizza. Was told it will take 25 minutes. Got there in 20 minutes and was told just a few more minutes. Waited an additional 45 minutes before the pizza was ready. I could understand if they were busy but they weren't. Only 1 table was seated. I actually finished skimming thru a 200+ page book while waiting. The meat lover pizza was actually not that bad. I'd give it a 4 stars for the pizza but a -2 stars for the wait.

The pizza was absolutely amazing!!! Local ingredients and very fresh. However... it took over an HOUR for us to get it. They accidentally burned the first pizza and neglected to tell us that it happened until they already made another pizza and put it in the oven. There was only 1 other group of people in the restaurant too. Nothing by way of decor. Expensive pizza... good service for the most part.

Most amazing pizza in Flagstaff, but only if you're looking for exotic pizzas. Their prices are high, but they provide the most interesting flavors, and the freshest ingredients. I don't recommend eating there though. These are pizza guys, not servers.

Really great pizza. My husband and I were traveling to California and had to stop overnight in Flagstaff. We ordered our pizza at 8:15 and our pizza was ready at 8:30..not a long wait at all! Great ingredients and the pizza was delicious I would definitely recommend this place! :)

Got delivery from here while on a cross country roadtrip, and apart from the VERY long delivery time, I'm a huge fan. My husband, toddler, dog, and I were all staying in a hotel, so we couldn't really all leave together. It was also freezing cold out (snowing in Flagstaff in May....of course), so we didn't want to leave. I found NJ Pizza Co reviews on Yelp and decided to check it out. The pizza was heartwarming, quite literally, and was made from the freshest ingredients. I highly recommend paying the extra $2 for the house-made mozzarella. We also ordered a side salad that wasn't your average pizza place salad with nasty iceberg lettuce - it was delicious, green, fresh romaine salad. But back to the wait: we called and ordered and were told it would arrive in 25-35 minutes, by 7:05 at the latest. By 7:45, it was still not there. I called the place and asked where it was, and they mentioned that the driver had just left and we were his first stop....but no apology, or recognition that they were an hour off their estimate of when the pizza would be done. However, all their transgressions were forgiven when the delivery man showed up at our room with that delicious piping hot pizza. Would definitely suggest for delivery (because when you're in a hotel or at your own home, waiting longer than expected is a LOT less painful than waiting at a restaurant). Great food!

We went after reading Yelp reviews and ordered a two-pie take-out on a Monday night. It was slow at the time and Marco made our pies right away and we were out the door in 18 minutes. I am giving it 5 stars based on the Pizza alone - Wow! The crust is awesome and all of the ingredients are fresh/local and they make Mozzarella in-house. I lived in Northern italy and currently live in LA; didn't think I'd find pizza like this in Flagstaff, AZ

Good, good pizza. Lots of cheese and great distribution of toppings. It took about an hour for delivery and boy was it worth the wait! While I am of the notion that good food can not be held to the standards of price and time (time is the variable in this equation) NJPC satisfied me in a way I didn't even know I needed to be.

Excellent pizza, flavorful w a light crust. Dont be deterred by the lack of atmosphere or beer! Yummy salads as well.

Very good Pizza. Just passing through Flagstaff. Looked it up on Yelp and followed good advise. They were very accommodating at New Jersey Pizza Co. I came in with a group of 20. Fifteen of them were 13 years old. All the kids loved the Pizza, as I did too. Great sauce, thin crust, yummy cheese. Good inspiring advise for life on the menu. We also left a cell phone there by accident and the employee, Amy went out of her way to mail it back to Sacramento, Ca. All in all NJP co is a great place to eat, with a hometown feeling.

The hubs and I decided to try this place cause it was close to our hotel and the Yelp reviews. I was put on hold for 3 minutes when I called but the guy on the line seemed nice enough. The guy told me 45-50 minutes for delivery but based on reviews I was weary of this and I was hungry. He said it would take 15-20 min for pick up. It was dark when we tried to find the place. Had to circle the block twice since they didn't have any lights out front and the only noticeable signage was a small neon open sign. We showed up 20-25 min later. El hubbo went in and 2 min later came out without a pizza said the guy said it would take a couple minutes but since it really didn't seem like it would be anytime soon we decided to go back to our hotel and unload before picking up. About 10 minutes later as the el hubbo is just about to leave he gets a call saying our pizza is done. Definitely not 15-20 minutes. So my el hubbo walks in the door pizza in hand. It looks pretty okay and for under $18 for 16 inches I'm interested. I ordered half tomato and basil half ham with extra cheese. I guess that was too much topping on such a thin pizza cause it just couldn't hold up. I don't know about New Jersey style pizza but the center of the pizza was one of the thinnest ever. The pizza tasted pretty good. Not the best. The crust...one of the best I've ever had. Now if my favorite pizza place could learn how to make this crust... I'm not local so I couldn't be a regular but next time I'm in town and have a craving for pizza I just might drop by. I'd give this 3.5 stars if I could.

The pizza is good, but the dining experience is pretty unpleasant. First of all, there are no lights in the parking lot and no sign whatsoever. The restaurant is not heated and service is sporadically provided by some dudes that look like they'd rather be snowboarding. The guy in charge (owner/manager?) seemed more interested in crafting his artisan cheeses than serving customers. I appreciate what they're trying to do with the local-vore vibe and everything, but they have to remember they are in the retail business and retail is not just about offering a quality product, it's also about the experience your customers have in your establishment. If you must eat this pizza, I'd recommend take-out.

Delicious! Each pizza we ordered was a hit! The service was a bit slow, but there we arrived a little late, and there was only one guy working. Still, super good!

This is probably the best Flagstaff has to offer in terms of regular tomato based pizza. We stopped in right as they were finishing a batch of mozzarella, and I'd highly recommend paying the extra couple bucks to have the in-house mozzarella added to your pizza. Tried the wings as well, though they weren't quite as good as I'm used to. As someone else mentioned, their dining room is fairly small and Sunnyside is really sketchy, so I'd really recommend take-out. If you're having a party, and need a pizza, plan on picking up your pie here. Your friends will be very glad you did.

Out of towners and looking for a good pizza joint on Yelp. Nearly all of the reviews of this place stated that the service and pizza are slow to the table. Boy were they right! After sitting at the table for a good 10 min., our stoned waiter informed us that they did not have any ice available. (I guess a trip to the closest gas station for a bag of ice for your guests in August is out of the question.) With only 2 other guests in the "dining room", our pizza took 30 minutes to arrive. The pizza was so-so, nothing special. When we asked for a side of marinara to dip our crust in, the stoned waiter brought a little plastic container of cold pasta sauce. Great, thanks-just what I was hoping for. There was never any explanation or apology for the long wait time or lackluster experience. Just another mediocre restaurant experience from a joint that, like so many others, appears to be run by a bunch of idiot kids while dad is away.

This place has a great variety of specialty pizzas as well as the build your own. Prices are reasonable and the pizza was great! I agree with other reviews that they place is hard to find, especially in the dark. Great service. Will go again if I ever get back to Flagstaff. Things to improve upon: 1) Get rid of the drinks by the can. 2) A few beer selections would be nice 3) Do people order at the counter or from the table? Hard to tell.

BEST IN ARIZONA! - I'm a pizza guru. I've eaten at places like Pizzeria Bianco and Cibo in Phoenix. This food is on that level but at half the price. Also, there are no food snobs here. Just great food.

If you are hungry, in a hurry or not interested in waiting a VERY LONG TIME, this place is not for you. We waited more than an hour for our food. The ingredients were fresh and the pizza was good.....but not worth the very long wait. The server was apologetic. If they had been super busy, it might have been OK. While we were there, four take out orders were picked up. There were three tables with customers. That is a total of seven pizzas.....not super busy....very long wait. It just did not add up. We cannot understand how they stay in business.

Yum. This place is excellent all around. They have a pretty cute atmosphere. But, they also deliver pies and beer. I usually prefer take-out here because sometimes they are understaffed.

I typically visit Flagstaff every year. This year I heard of this place through Jamie at Satchmos BBQ. I gave it a shot and was nothing but pleased. They use all fresh ingredients. Next to each of the toppings on the list of toppings they tell where they got it from. They try to support local farmers and use farmers markets as often as possible as well as organic. Super friendly staff. I got a pepperoni pizza with roasted garlic...awesome. Be advised that you will probably have to wait longer than the time they give you...they are popular and get a lot of business. Don't get all whiney because you have to wait longer if you want fast food go to McDonald's and eat your meat type product. This is good food and expect that you may have to wait a little bit longer for it. Price is very reasonable. Paid 15 dollars for a bit pizza. Flagstaff area is fairly expensive so this isn't that bad.

THE best pizza in Flagstaff! They use a lot of local and organic ingredients. The pizza takes forever, but is soooo worth the wait. Their fruit & nut salad is so good, too. This is the place to go when you want a good gourmet pizza.

One of the best Pizzas I have ever had. Great crust, delicate flavors, the freshest organic ingredients and good value. It would have been a 5 rating if it were not for the wait and no beer (BYOB OK). Stay away if you are in a hurry or impatient.

We hadn't been to New Jersey in a long time, since their customer service suffered from bad attitude (ie, we don't like customers, just your money) although we always liked their pizza. But since our favorite pizza place was closed for a holiday, we tried it. They didn't open til 5pm which was a bit inconvenient. When my husband went to pick up our order, he heard another customer complaining that he had been waiting 20 minutes past his scheduled pick up time. Although the crust, sauce and cheese were good, the veggies seemed to be missing off our vegetarian pizza. (We had been over zealous carnivores all weekend and were trying to make a healthier choice - bad move.) There were a few kalamata olives, a few onion slices, a tomato bit here and there. You needed a magnifiying glass to find them. Guess I had pictured a pie piled high with veggies like most places. And the "extra large" ($22+ including tax) only had 8 medium-size slices on a pie that would be only a large at the most at other pizza places. Don't think we will be revisiting NJ Pizza soon.

We have tried this place a few times as we like to buy their homemade mozzarella at the local farmers market. The first time was a bit off so we gave them another shot. Here it goes: they don't answer the phone the first 2 times I call, then I sit on hold to place the order, then again to find out my total and wait time. Was told 30 minutes, showed up after 40 minutes and still had to wait another 15 minutes there. Worst part was, I was the only one there and saw mine was the only pizza being made. Now to the pizza, had I not seen them put it in the box I would have been compelled to check it as it did not seem any heavier than an empty box. I like thin crust, but the problem here is there is virtually no sauce, very little cheese (which I paid extra for) and a smattering of mushrooms (only topping). Finally, the crust was very chewy. Very unsatisfied with this place, there are better pizzas in town for sure.

In Flagstaff after a long day of traveling, all we wanted was a gluten free pizza. We found the New Jersey Pizza Co. on Yelp, and we were so glad we did! It was the most delicious gluten free pizza we have ever had! We added salads from their menu, and they were fresh and delicious as well. Their prices were fair, and the food was great.

Looking at yelp, there seems to be no standard to what someone considers a five-star establishment. People are much too loose with their five-star ratings.. A five-star rating means "Woohoo! As good as it gets! I find it hard to believe that the dutch bros coffee on Van Buren is "woohoo! as good as it gets".. In a way it might reflect on someones self-esteem being so willy-nilly with their five-star reviews. I can confidently say that this is a five-star pizza. And that's coming from someone who absolutely refuses to be willy/nilly about five-star reviews.

So, I called to order this place because we are staying at a nearby hotel for a convention. The reviews were good and the pictures looks good so I figured we would give it a try. We got one 16" and one 12" combo. I knew it would be a little pricey. About $40 after tip and such. They told me it would be between 40-70 minutes. It definitely took about 70 minutes, around 65 to be exact but I guess I was hopeful for thinking it wouldn't take that long. The pizza was underwhelming. Pepperoni was very thin, sauce wasn't amazing, thick crust, but thin pizza, and there was a serious lack of cheese D: the pictures looked so cheesy! Meh.. Needless to say I don't think we will be ordering again.

If there were an option to give 1/2 a star, that is what I would have chosen. I placed an order for pizza at 6:27 pm on a Friday night. The man on the phone told me it would take 60-90 min for delivery. I wasn't excited, but I had been told they make a great pizza, so I agreed. My pizza was finally delivered at 8:40 pm. I called, inquiring as to the delay, and was told "we are only 12% out". WHAT?!?!? Really?!?! Perhaps credibility doesn't matter when you believe you are better than the community you serve! The driver called for directions finally, because "my GPS doesn't work". The pizza was obviously not hot. The delivery driver said, "well, this is what happens when you are popular and good." I was offered a $5 coupon, which I refused. As I explained to her, that is worthless to me, as I will NEVER purchase from this establishment again.-

Been in flagstaff a year now and places like this still surprise me. I tried NJPC for the first time last night and had the Sausage Lover pizza. It was excellent. I called to make an order for carry out and went to pick up the pizza about 20 mins later. Still wasn't ready (no prob, it's a charming little place to sit and eat a meal as well!) Had to wait about 10 mins, but it was totally worth it. When they pull my pizza out of the oven, they said it was the best looking pizza they made all day. I concur. I love the fact that I can sit and watch them making pizza in the kitchen and I love that my pizza was in my hands less than 2 mins after coming out of the oven. The ingredients are fresh, awesome, and tasty. And they use organic produce and amazing cheese. Gotta try every pie they make!

Gluten-free pizza that actually taste good what :? Oh how I miss this place. The best quality ingredients of any regular pizza place (except maybe Pizzicleta) I heard they use heirloom wheat flour but I don't know for sure, definitely delusions though :)

My boyfriend and I went here on a whim for dinner, because we were both craving pizza and NJ Pizza Co. is just a few blocks from my apartment. Full disclosure: I've known this place exists for about 3.5 years now, but never went because it didn't look open and, having spent the first 24 years of my life in NJ, I'm admittedly a pizza snot. The restaurant part is *tiny* and very unassuming (but they are soon about to move into a bigger space!), but there was something comforting and familiar about a no-frills pizza joint. We ordered the Chucho and were very, very happy with it! The ingredients were just right, and--most importantly--the crust was the best I've had in town. Being at such a high desert altitude, pizzerias in town struggle with crusts, but NJ Pizza Co. nailed it--not soggy underneath, crispy on the outside, and not too heavy or greasy. We also didn't experience the wait issues that others have spoken of in past reviews, and we will definitely be returning with friends.

We tried this place since they offer a vegan pizza. When we arrived, the entire place is no bigger than a large pantry so we decided to place a to go order. The vegan pizza was outstanding! All fresh ingredients and generous amounts of veggies. Crust was flaky yet crisp and not covered in corn meal. Our boys loved their pepperoni pie and even enjoyed our vegan pie too. I highly recommend this pizzeria yet if dining in, be prepared to meet your fellow diners; you're so close to them!

Dear Yelpers, if you want fast food go to McDonalds. Yes, the service is very European. But the food is amazing!!!! My fiancé, brother and I stopped here in May on a road trip to Zion and Grand canyon. After reading all the wonderful reviews on Yelp I knew what to expect, slow service but amazing food. I didnt go in expecting fast service and neither should you. The waiter could have not been any nicer. We ordered chicken wings and 3 pizzas. Everything was amazing especially the crust and the goat cheese. My fiancé said the chicken wings were the best he had ever had (and he eats a lot of chicken wings). I don't understand what all these people are complaining about. You are yelpers. You knew what to expect before you got there. Stop complaining and enjoy the food.

Given the use of high quality ingredients, the food here should be better. Sadly, the tomato sauce on the pizza tasted like Hunts. The service was slow, but pleasant. However since there were only 6 of us in the dining room, it was strange that they asked us to keep the same plates for 3 courses.

The first time I went to this place was on a Full Harvest Moon 3 years ago and it was so amazing I could not wait to go back. This weekend as we were taking my son back up to NAU we were able to return. It was more delicious than I remembered so fresh and light. I wish it was not my son's junior year so I could have more excuses to return. The waitress was so friendly and the wait was acceptable. LOVE LOVE LOVE!'

Thie pizza is great. They feature natural and locally sourced ingredients and have a really creative menu. It ought to be mobbed but due to no marketing whatsoever, a top-secret location, and an invisible sign, it isn't, which is a shame. However, I don't think they want or can handle much very business either. That's the flaw that cost them the 4th star- t h e y...a r e...s l o w. If you want a pizza, expect it to take at least an hour before it arrives. If you lack extreme patience this might not be the place for you.

    (3)
  • Steven F.

Good concept....terrible execution. Locally sourced is a great idea but if you can't get organized enough to have your pizza's get done within at least 15 minutes of your quoted time then there is a major problem. People have other things to do and timelines to follow and do not need to be waiting, in the lobby, 30 minutes past the quoted 40 minute pick up time. The "Nate 2012" did not make me forget my irritation at all as it was devoid of flavor. It's crazy to think that I would have preferred Dominos over this. I will no longer visit this establishment. There are plenty of other pizza companies that have it together.

This review concerns NJP delivery service. Called for a couple of pies and were told it would be "about 45 minutes." Fair enough. Probably average for delivery on a Friday night. Waited for 90 minutes just to give them a break before we called to inquire about our evening meal status. We were told the "pizza had just gone in the oven," in a not very customer friendly voice. We finally got our order after a 2hr and 15 minute wait. The delivery kid was nice and gave us 2 free sodas. The pizza was so so, burned on the bottom and edges but eatable. I understand things go wrong at these businesses but I feel that a courtesy call from them after 90 minutes might have been appropriate. Too many good pizza places in Flag to deal with this business again.

I think that someone at New Jersey Pizza Co need to take note of how many people are talking about how long they take at this place for anything. My girlfriend and I went here today and we were just thoroughly disappointed after being excited for good pizza. Just sitting down, we had plenty of time to pick what we wanted... plenty of time because it took him a really long time to even come by and ask for our order. Our water came out eventually and it was warm with no ice.. bummer. Our cheesy bread took forever to come out. I have never ever waited so long for an appetizer, must have been 40 minutes. The whole time, the guy that was attending to us, never attended to us. He never stopped by to see if our waters were empty or if we needed anything. We just sat there and waited and did not want to drink warm water. the cheesy bread.. just ok. Definitely had better The pizza eventually came out. We got the perfecto. I just don't understand the consistency of this place. Their description of their specialty pizzas were different from their online menu and their menu they gave us, and their pizza was even different from that. I just noticed there were things on there that were not described in the menu. I was not complaining, but I do pay attention to details like that. It was a pretty good pizza. I liked how the thin the crust was, but nothing special and definitely not worth the time or the drive. Its not a very well ran business and even if the pizza is good, the customers should not have to deal with this. I also don't think I would order and pick-up here either. Sitting there in the lonely dining room, we keep seeing people coming to pick up their pizza and sit there waiting for a really long time. This place has a lot of apologies. I will definitely not be back here ....unless I see yelpers reviewing that the service got way better!

HOW DO THEY STAY IN BUSINESS??? I read the Yelp reviews about long waits, so when I arrived with my friend at 5:45 and only saw 1 couple in the restaurant we thought phew, we'll get our food quick! Not so...we did not get our food until 7pm!!! THIS IS INEXCUSABLE!!! Not sure if the food was good because by the time we received it we were so famished we just shoved it in our mouths! After the couple left, there were no other people in the restaurant and the only other business we saw was another set of people who came in for a to go order. Not sure what the wait was all about, but definitely a disorganized, scatterbrained place. I saw someone mentioned stoners...I think they hit the nail right on the head with that comment!!!

What on earth is a New Jersey Pizza company doing in Flagstaff? Don't worry about it, shut up and open wide for some of the best pizza you've ever had. After speaking to the guys behind the counter, these aren't your ordinary snow bums. Instead a group of friends inspired by alice waters' fresh cooking, and they've taken the concept into this co-op sourced with all locally grown ingredients. They even have a sign on the side displaying from which local farm each individual ingredient picked fresh from to get to your dinner table. During my visit, I had a half/half with: Crimini- Extra Virgin, Tomato, housemade regianno, herbs, fresh garlic Framco- extra virgin, spinach, bacon, blue cheese, mozz, onion And Cheesy sticks- cheese, sticks The result is a huge thin crust, fresh flavors, and will have you rethinking where you source your own food at home and why your food doesn't taste quite like this.

I was driving across the country with a friend and we Yelp'd this place and just had to check it out. We arrived like 15 minutes before they opened up for the day and they ended up letting us in which was awesome. We had to wait a little longer for the oven to warm up but MAN was it worth the wait. They list where they get all of their locally grown/organic ingredients and put together some awesome pies. I am a huge pizza snob so while I waited with anticipation I still held some doubt on how good this pizza would taste. The place from the outside looks ridiculous and the inside looks like a very boring local Italian restaurant. Please don't waste your time coming here in a hurry and then getting mad because your pizza isn't ready in 10 minutes. The crust is to die and just a perfect size to compliment your toppings and not be over or underwhelming which is topped with a handmade mozzarella cheese! I took so many notes on some scrap piece of paper to give you adjectives of how amazing it was and how impressed I was with sourcing of ingredients. But listen... I eat more pizza than anyone you know (which you can tell by my size, haha) and you need to go here. Not that I think you will find yourself randomly in Flagstaff, Arizona BUT on that rare chance you are here and hungry for some amazing pizza go ahead and swing through.

Have you ever seen the "Soup Nazi" episode on Seinfeld? Well, I would call the main guy here the "Pizza Nazi". I think his name might be Marco. He is PASSIONATE about his art...and it shows in the pizza. Hands down the best pizza in Flagstaff and, in my opinion, all of Arizona. This place is tiny and easy to drive right by. My wife and I lived in Flagstaff for over 15 years and only discovered it by accident about 5 years ago. It is in a pretty much off the beaten path part of Flagstaff but well worth the trip. We have since moved down to Phoenix and all I can say is that I miss going to NJPC, La Fonda, Kachina, Diablo Burger and Mamma Luisa. More reviews on those places will be coming soon. I would definitely recommend take out at NJPC. The dine-in experience is not so great. You will wait a long time for take out and a really long time for dine in. Know this going into it and you will be fine. I think the Pizza Nazi is so passionate about his art that he wants your pie to come out hot and fresh for you and not sit around getting cold and nasty while you wrap things up at Walmart. This is why he almost always waits to put your pie in the oven until you show your ugly mug in his restaurant (even when you called ahead for a pick-up order). This is the reason for the wait. Or maybe he just doesn't like you. "No pizza for you!"

The pizza here is really great. The ingredients are very fresh and are probably organic. I don't know what they do but, their bread and crust is so light and tasty. Yes you will wait at least an hour but to me it is more than worth it. Also it is on the pricier side but once again it's worth it.

    (5)
  • Kevin B.

Their pizza could be great, but I'll never know after they told me I was "out of their delivery range" despite being a 7 minute drive according to google maps. The whole purpose of delivery is for someone to get food that is not already walking distance away.

Always "cringe" when I see stuff like this. New Jersey pizza? 2500 mi from New Jersey? Really? Well I spent 2 years working/living in northern NJ, so I know all about New Jersey pizza. Figured I'd test em. First call, they put me on hold and forgot about me, 5 min later, hung up. Second call, they put me on hold for 2 min and then returned to take my order. Nice pepperoni and mushroom. Arrived exactly when they said it would. About 50-70 min after order. Very reasonably priced. Excellent delivery service as the pizza was SMOKING hot!! The pizza itself? I can't believe I'm typing this, but it reminded me of Paulie's Pizza on Rt 3 in Clifton, NJ. Paulie's is now known as 3 West Pizza. They really DO produce New Jersey pizza! And great pizza at that!!

I used to think Fratteli's was the best pizza in town, but now I think it's New Jersey pizza. Their toppings are incredible and their crust is soooooo light and crispy. I think they should put a little less oil on top, but that's just my personal preference. The carmalized onions are brilliant, the tomatoes are amazing, and the mushrooms are way better than any other pizza place in town. P.S. The wait is very long. You should call ahead with your order. If it goes past 45 minutes, then you should ask your waiter to check on it for you. I think they might be stoners or something.

Best pizza I've had in Flag. They're rarely ready when they say they will be but if you want a really good pizza, this is where to go. East coast style in the southwest. The meat lovers is awesome, especially with extra meatballs.

Yelped this place while in town with the zombie girl for Cards training camp. The reviews were outstanding (one guy seemed to be hyperventilating over the joint), so we were eager to check it out. We arrived about 6:30pm on a Thursday, and the parking lot was empty, though the "open" sign was on. We couldn't believe it could be deserted at this time of night, especially with all these gushing reviews, but it was. Nonetheless, service was glacially slow (but quite friendly), and the pie was ok-to-good, but not at all outstanding. It was quite oily, and its best attribute was the crust. A few other customers arrived while were were waiting/eating, and also received the glacial service, with one party openly grumbling about it. I liked the pie, but z.g. wasn't so thrilled. I'm stretching to give it 3 stars. To those of you giving this place the gushing reviews, I've got news for you - there are lots of better pies out there, maybe just not in Flag.
