Ate here two times in two weeks. You might say I enjoyed the SNOT out of these meals. I was going to go for the brisket nachos, but my dinner partner wasn't going tpo do the carbs and I was told the plate was too large for one person. So Based on the recommendation I deferred to the brisket tacos. There are three to a plate. Well, truth be told. these could be a meal. Certainly my wife would have been full after two. After a cup of the gumbo (super heavy) I only ate one to save room for dinner. No kidding one cup of gumbo and one brisket taco and I was running out of room. For dinner the double cut pork chop with the grits, and fruit relish was "Slap your Mama" good. The fruit relish had some roasted pears and other stuff that went so well with the pork chop. Sadly the plates were bigger than my stomach and I needed a doggie bag. The next trip we started with the bay bullets. Nicely fried and with a nice remoulade sauce but I wanted more crab. Then the stunner was the slow roasted brisket. I expected a little 6-8 ounce well dressed but small piece of brisket. What I got was a 16 oz brisket on top of a bed of smashed sweet potato. The brisket was roasted perfectly and just fell apart. The greens were more mustard than collards or kale which I would have preferred but still OK. Another night, and another doggie bag. Luckily the container was large enough to hold half my brisket and my manhood (in separate containers of course). If you Going to The Bull, bring an appetite and be prepared for both quality and quantity. I'll be back for sure!

Very enjoyable dinner! Perfect for a special occasion. Had an 8:30 reservation on a Friday night; were seated right away. Started with a couple of cocktails. The Blood Orange Manhattan was delightful! For appetizers, the lump crab and sweet corn cakes were ordered. Wow,so good! Two to an order and so much crab. Drizzled with an chipotle cream sauce for a little bite. The Charcuterie plate was ordered as well. Never have we had Foie Gras Pate', but I am now a fan! Just trust me on this. An assortment of pickled vegetables and a few cheeses with toast points were included as well. As our Main course, the Scallops with gnocchi and the Pork Chop with cheese grits were ordered. The pork chop was huge and cooked well. Tasted the scallops, another great plate! Overall, a fantastic meal at this downtown establishment! Service and food done really well.

While not our first time in Mobile, this was our first visit to The Bull. Overall excellent experience, fantastic staff, and a chef that has clearly earned the title of "chef." We had a seasonal sweet potato starter (farm to table, featured side with the special of the day that we ordered as an appetizer) and the black bean / guacamole dip. I highly recommend the black bean dip...especially with the Oaxaca? bread that they make from an old Mexican recipe. The main course was equally as impressive, albeit very large portions. I had the meatloaf, I love meatloaf and order it regularly, trust me when I say this was the best meatloaf I have ever eaten. My partner had the brisket and we could not decide who ordered better. For dessert we split a flourless chocolate lava cake with coffee ice cream, a truly inspired combination, with excellent presentation and follow through. The bar was well stocked with a highly capable bar tender. It is rare that a restaurant can do all things well: food, dessert, and cocktails, The Bull will not disappoint.

This place gets major points for the space and the service. Food-wise, I liked it but I was expecting more from how nice of a restaurant it seemed (and price). It's not quite southern, but not quite southwestern either. It's a strange fancy mix of the two. I got the scallops, my friend got the catch of the day. Scallops were quite spicy - which I didn't realize. They were good, but the potatoes and vegetables they served it with were not very interesting. My friend liked her fish - it was mahi mahi in a mushroom sauce. We also got the chips and dip for an appetizer - it was a lot of food, so just make sure you have a big appetite or a group to share. Too much for two people. Service: friendly, attentive and easy to have a conversation with. Environment: what a nice place. It was a very clean look without being stuffy. Most of the tables were booths, and it had a pretty large bar.

4 1/2 stars Spot # 9 Great for a special date!!! My husband and I went to The Bull for our anniversary. We have been eying this place for some time. We are happy to report that we were not disappointed. I would say that the cuisine at The Bull is southwest meets the south. The portions were large and the price seemed fair for a high end restaurant. We started with the flank steak roulade and house wine. Both were good. For the main course I had the lamb with grits and greens and he had the brisket with mashed sweet potatoes and greens. It seemed like I wanted a little part of every dish and the chef had no objections to switching the sides for me. All the flavors were rich and satisfying So far this is the nicest place we have eaten in Mobile.

This place is real cool...and you will feel that way when you eat here. Its not cheap, but also not the most expensive place in town. Its a special occasion place, especially if you are on a date. But keep in mind that the bartenders are smoking, so sit with your back to the bar if your on a date (and if your solo...sit at the bar!)! I'm married so I can't confirm the hotness of the bartenders, but I was told that was the case by my single friends... I was also told that the chef was formally at Noja, so that should shed some light on the quality of the food. But again, I don't know if that fact is completely accurate. Trust your server, as he or she will not steer you wrong. The first time I at there I couldn't choose between the meatloaf and the steak, and the server told me to go with the meatloaf, and he was spot on! When it arrived I thought to myself "how often do you find meatloaf at a place like this...of course I should get the meatloaf." He also recommended a drink that include whiskey, ginger, and champagne. It was awesome and I have gotten it every other time I have eater there. For dessert I had the tres leches. It was different in that it wasn't wet, but the flavor was spot on. The BBQ shrimps were delicious, but i was left wanting for more gravy. Its probably a good thing though, since the gravy is all fat and the bread there is delicious so I would have sopped all of the gravy with that bread! Anything with chimichurri is a must (its my favorite condiment), and the double cut pork chop looked awesome. They have specials so that is an option. Its a gem in the Mobile dining scene and a must try. Go there!!!...you will be glad you did.

Absolutely outstanding for what we had in mind last night. My lady friends and I wanted a fun place to have a toddy and enjoy some delicious bites. It was exceptional. We sat at the bar (a crazy "meat" market, even on a Tuesday). Service was excellent, especially since the male/female ratio was 8:1. The drinks were poured very well - my Titos on the rocks looked like a water glass. We started with the Tatare, which was just outstanding. Then we snacked on the Charteurie - again amazing. There had to be something else because my coat has some sauce on it, but after the second vodka who knows??? Just adore the environment, the "beautiful" servers and the fact that everyone is so happy and lovely when at The Bull. Parking is easy, the location is perfect and I have no reason to withhold even a fraction of a star.

We were a party of 8 and we ran late. They were very accommodating but the place was not too busy. Our waiter shared the specials and we each ordered regular menu items. Being from New Orleans, I was suspect of a gumbo made in Mobile so i did not order it by the hubby did and so did others. They shared the most beautiful creation with a dark dark roux - that alone would be a reason to return here in the colder months. For a table appetizer, we had the charcuterie and enjoyed that - they had to bring us more toast to enjoy it all. Others in the part had the wedge salad and brisket tacos - both were good. The brisket nachos were topped with tons of chopped tomatoes (and my daugher does not like them) but they were tasty. I had the big pork chop and ate every bite - delicious and flavorful! Several table members had the redfish of the day with okra drizzled with truffle oil and it smelled wonderful. We enjoyed the ambiance, the flavors and the service and recommend this place!

Wow!! I've had great, but this was Wow. First, the flavor of the gumbo broth could be sipped on it's own. Add andouille and chicken and you have a hearty soup. No need to go crazy on the roux or okra, the secret is in the spicy broth. The Wow comes in at the brisket salad. It was astonishing - the flavor and tenderness of the brisket is a wow all it's own. This was the most delicious meat I've had in the South thus far. Fresh butter lettuce and goat cheese with a wonderful vinaigrette helps, but the next original culinary experience is found in the generous toppings of sweet potato "croutons". Folks, these aren't chunky croutons, they are crispy, crunchy, curled slivers of heaven. This combo of flavors is an experience deserving of recognition. The blue crab and corn cakes were crab-generous and perfectly cooked, but minimal with the sauce. They were fine. My husband ordered the BBQ shrimp (sauce generous) with a honey biscuit. I scantly recall what the shrimp & BBQ tasted like because that amazing honey biscuit stole the show. Normally plain was transformed into a flakey, perfectly baked, distinctly honey (not too sweet, just right) savory treat. Skip the complimentary bread and just ask to pay for two honey biscuits. I promise it's worth it. We shared a Tres Leches cake - not traditional but still amazing. It's a moist cake served with a side of Chantilly cream on the plate and a generous side serving of liquid Mexican chocolate to pour over. Another original. Lastly, we received gracious and friendly service from our server, April (who I recommend requesting). We were passing through en route to New Orleans; what a stop!

I cannot comment on the food itself. Instead I had the unpleasant experience of interacting with the owner when he was excessively drunk at the establishment next door. He was yelling at two women who were also quite intoxicated. He concluded his 30 minute drunken diatribe with a statement that one of the women was a bitch but she was hot so that was ok. Then he turned to his make friend to inform him that you can never trust women because they all turn. It might take 30 minutes, 4 hours or 4 years but they all turn. As a woman I will not be supporting or frequenting this chauvinistic man's establishment. Please work through your anger issues at home and don't ruin the dining experiences of other restaurants' patrons.

If you're looking for a hearty meal of Southwest meets Southern cuisine in an upscale, hip atmosphere you should visit The Bull. We went on a Sunday evening and it turned out to be a nice, quiet romantic night. Because it was a Sunday, it wasn't very crowded which was perfectly fine with me. Our waiter was attentive to us from the time we stepped to the door til the time we departed. As an appetizer, we ordered the chips with guacamole and black bean dip. The guacamole needed salt but that's been my preference since having authentic guacamole in Mexico. I wasn't really crazy about the bean dip but it was good for what it was. As my entree, I ordered the slow-roasted brisket which came with mashed sweet potatoes and greens. My boyfriend ordered the grilled snapper and roasted vegetables with a pablano pepper aoli. When our entrees came, I was pleasantly surprised at the melt in your mouth tenderness of the brisket. It also happened to be the largest portion of brisket I have ever had the pleasure of seeing. My boyfriend's snapper was tasty with a kick from the pablano aoli and the jicama was nice and crunchy. Overall the whole meal was rather pricey, but seeing as I had a whole dinner's worth of leftovers, I guess it was worth it.

Was headed over to Mobile last Saturday to go to the Saenger and wanted to dine out downtown. My choices were narrowed down to Nojas or The Bull. Ive never been to either. I decided to go with The Bull and I definitely know I made the wrong decision. Even if Noja cant live up to the hype, it wouldve had to have been better than our dinner. First off, the decor was really nice, clean and the service was really good. Those are the two pluses it had going for it. I ordered the grill ribeye ($24) which was served atop two fried green tomatoes with some Ore Ida-looking diced potatoes (they had some ultra fancy name, but seriously..it was ore ida diced tatos), then there was some dark sauce dribbled over all of it. Ok, decent enough.. my steak was very rare as i wanted, so that was good, but there was nothing monumental about the meat and I dont see what the point of the sauce was? It really didnt have much of a flavor or add anything. The two fried green tomatoes were meh..not fried very well at all, but Im not a huge fan of things fried, so I'm probably more picky. My husband ordered the grilled redfish ($18) which came with some more fancy named sides but were essentially diced up sweet potato. The fish had a bad fishy smell and obviously was obviously frozen fish, not fresh. It had zero flavor. It was also dribbled in a cream sauce that lacked any flavor or seasoning..really? Whats the point?? Hey, here's some bland rich creamy stuff to go over your bland plate of blandness. Great, thanks. I almost ordered this and after trying his, I was relieved at least one of us ordered something we could both pick at. I did have soup to start off with.. I believe it was called tomato chipotle or something to that effect and it was damn good...that was about it. I really had high expectations and was wanting to be wowed but there was nothing about our food that warranted the prices or the fanfare. That fish was just awful. If I go someplace like TGIF or Chilils, i expect to get frozen packaged fish served to me, but I expect more out of a fine dining restaurant.

The ambiance is nice. The Tanquerey and Tonic was terrible. The rib-eye was mealy, as if it had been frozen. The pork chop was quite good; pork loin good. Overall, not the best showing of a Mobile restaurant for out of town guests.

I can see why The Bull has mediocre reviews. I went out to The Bull on a weeknight for a nice dinner. The food was decent and the decor was interesting. Frankly, i was expecting a little bit more from the food, although our meals were passable. On the upside, I like the decor and the server was good. One thing I had hoped for was a few more veg options. Their one choice was OK, but I think that it would be great if they changed it up occasionally. I would go back more frequently.

This restaurant is located between Cafe 615 and Wentzels; and they open for dinner only (4-10 mon - thurs and 4-11 fri&sat). I would describe the food as dignified Latin American -- subtle flavors, spicy but not too hot. They do great job with their meats and soups are to die for too. Appetizers looked very interesting too; we didn't order any because we were not that hungry but we were looking at other tables and everything looked good. They do need to work on their deserts though - I'd like to see something more interesting than a cheesecake or 3 leche cake. If you are not interested in dinner, you can still come in and have drinks and appetizers at the bar. Now about their waitstaff ----- I've been there only twice but my friends and I agreed that they have the most professional wait staff in the city! They are prompt, know what they are talking about, give good suggestions and the timing of everything is just right!!!

Grade A service! I don't remember my waitresses name, all I remember is she used to live in italy, but she was great! Their food was good, however the new york strip I had was fatty, but the good parts tasted good. The spiced filet looked great. Their roulade steak appetizer was really good. The menu is not excessive and had limited choice, however it makes it easier for indecisive people. Would recommend.

Fabulous. The food exceeded my expectations. My scallops were perfectly cooked as well as my husband's hangar steak. Very friendly staff and beautiful decor.

This really is as good as it gets! Woohoo----Mobile, AL has stepped up it's game in the food department. Great location. Great Service. Super Amazing Food! Try the gumbo. Try the mouth watering never to be forgotten meat-loaf! I hope you are there forever. Wishing this place great success....

(4)Michael E.

(5)Veronica C.

Some of the best food you can find in the mobile area. Very fun atmosphere with a nice bar, good service, and creative drinks. I would recommend to anyone looking for a nice sit down place. Some what pricey as far as mobile standards, but well worth it.

Everything was excellent the meat loaf made with Coby beef was excellent. I had the brisket and it was great. My friend had the red fish and said it also done well. Service was on top. We just had the house wines and they were very good.

Some of the best food you can find in the mobile area. Very fun atmosphere with a nice bar, good service, and creative drinks. I would recommend to anyone looking for a nice sit down place. Some what pricey as far as mobile standards, but well worth it.

Fabulous. The food exceeded my expectations. My scallops were perfectly cooked as well as my husband's hangar steak. Very friendly staff and beautiful decor.
