Outstanding restaurant.. Fantastic atmosphere, and the service was extremely good. Iceberg salad. (Wedge) was very fresh .. Small plate scallops was very good although I thought there was a little to much ole bay seasoning.. The pork belly small dish was the "winner" .. It was outstanding.. Highly recommend !!! Will definitely come back the next time in Mobile !!!

Our favorite restaurant in Mobile, or within a 200 radius for that matter! Its fine dining at its best...which means you will get a fabulous meal that you will remember for a long time. Its a special treat place however, as it is expensive. The last time we went there we just got some after dinner drinks, donuts, and the bark. The desserts are to-die-for! If you go, get the donuts as they are delicious (but everything really is there). The steak is really my favorite, but again you really cannot go wrong. I even ran into a celebrity chef there once, who was in town to judge a local food event, so you never know who you will see. I love the atmosphere, with the muted colors and brick wall. There is an outside area, but we have never been. The wine selection is excellent, and the staff do not rush you and allow you to enjoy your meal. The staff is very knowledge and make you feel at home. Its fine dining, but without the attitude. Go there on your next special occasion...you will be glad you did!

As soon as we walked through to the courtyard, I knew we had found the classiest place for dinner in Mobile. I ordered the scallops and they were amazingly delicious! My husband ordered the filet mignon and the sauce was to die for. We both had the spinach salad and I highly recommend this for the bacon vinaigrette dressing. Wine and beer selections were awesome!!

It was an excellent dinner for New Year's Eve. The food and ambiance were fabulous. As good as you can get in Mobile.

Scallops and steak are to die for! Even their carrots are perfectly seasoned. A huge plus is they have Stag's Leap wine by the glass.

Fantastic. Loved everything. Our server, April, took good care of us. Nice cocktail program, first class food. Good ambiance.

Disappointing - I ordered the snapper hook-and-line and was disappointed. The preparation was sautéed with a sauce and it was notably over cooked. It was served skin-side-up and it was black around the edges but, as I ate it, I could not believe how scalding hot it was. The result was a quite unpleasant dining experience that was sadly overcooked and dry. The lemon sauce was nicely served on the side but was rather bland for what should have been a very special dish. I'm only in town for the week but with social media and some foot travel I have learned that this is the nicest and, by far, the most expensive restaurant in the historic district. At $34 for the fish and $13 for the featured wine, it should have been a much better experience I'm sorry to say. If you want an exclusive crowd, however, this is the place to come. It appears that reservations are a must if you don't wish to sit at the bar. The place is quite popular.

Amazing scallops, to die for Brussels sprouts and coconut rum cake worth every calorie.

Well. Where to start. Here on a business meal and overall the waitress was 5 stars. Great if not excellent service. Drinks were great and we'll done Food was only OK. Apps were good. Hot with good flavor. However once we got to the salads and entrees it went down hill. Everything was over dressed and over sauced. Need to let the food shine and not cover it up. The lamb was great but there was so much sauce it covered it up. Same with the salad that I actually had to send back. Overall they need to let the food shine. It would be good if they didn't try so hard to add flavor. Keep it simple and enhance what is there ...

Went here on a date with my girlfriend. 5 stars all around. We loved the casual atmosphere and setting. Our server Steven was attentive all night with excellent recommendations and drinks. We started with the pork belly for an appetizer then split a filet and the duck as entrées. Probably the best pork belly I've ever had and one of the best filets I've had in a long time, the duck was also excellent. We finished with a ginger donut for dessert with the "Black Sea" cocktail, a perfect combination and a must have for your first trip. It was reasonably priced and overall a great experience!

We were checking out restaurants in Mobile and were told several times that this location was really good. We were pleasantly surprised. The wait staff were very good and Mark came over to deliver some appetizers and engaged us in some great conversation. The delicious food was excellent, amazing. Our highlight was the incredible service provided by Mia our waitress. You should definitely put it on your must go list!!

Stopped by there on a Saturday night after a wedding. I had the best steak I have ever had in my life. Great service, great atmosphere but most importantly amazing menu. This place is one of the best & consistent restaurant in Mobile that delivers upscale experience. I recommend Noja to everyone who is looking for an exquisite dining experience, they have a beautiful outdoor seating available in the back. Kudos guys. Glad to have a place like this in Mobile.

While I'm not a Mobile resident, I would dare to say this is one of the better restaurants in the city! Saturday afternoon were able to make a reservation for a party of 6 at 7:30 that evening. Good luck trying to do that in NOLA! Our table was promptly seated. Everyone started with a glass of wine, a decent enough selection with something for everyone. Ordered the crispy pork belly in a honey-ginger sauce for the table, just for a taste; this was done well. The seasonal vegan soup had great flavor! (this was out of the norm for me, pleasantly surprised). As an entrée, the majority of the table ordered the Hanger Steak. Really enjoyed this dish! Cooked well, with a dollop of goat cheese on top. Served with Noja potatoes (mix of mashed sweet/russet potato). For the dessert, we had 2 orders of the Ginger Donut with ice cream for the table to share. You have to get this! It was delightful and ended the meal on a high note! Our server Steven was knowledgeable and personable. He handled our table with ease and checked on us often enough without being intrusive. Located in downtown Mobile, Noja is a great place to start the night! Hope to make it back here again. Note: Steven made us a taste of a cocktail he called a "snake bite" to have with our dessert. It was a coffee base with who knows what else included? But, it was delicious! The perfect after dinner drink.

We had tried for two years to get a reservation at this place during a work conference. Finally got in! My husband swears the best lamb chops he's ever had are here at Noja! The squash we had was probably the best I've ever had and he couldn't stop talking about his fingerling potatoes! Everything was superb! We love the ambience, the food, and even had the chef stop by our table to ask us how we enjoyed our food. Highly recommend!

Trying a place ive walked by like 100 times. Its pretty good. Make sure you wear something nice and dont come in dressed like a asshat like i did. I had the fish of the day and my girlfriend had the steak. We both enjoyed it. If you wanna blow money on some pretty good food this is a place you can do it.

Exceptional service and even more exceptional food. Cooked to perfection just as requested. The fillet was phenomenal. If I regurgitated my filet and consumed it again, it would still remain a better experience than what one might consume at comparable steak establishments. Apologies for the graphic nature, but I hope the perspective has accomplished just how phenomenal it was. When returning to Mobile I will be returning here!

In Sept, My husband and I were in town from Los Angeles to attend a conference. After walking around downtown Mobile, we settled on Noja. Oh my, the food is absolutely WONDERFUL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We had the lamb (and some other items as well), but wow, was it the most perfect lamb. We would have stayed for dessert but the airport was calling us. This restaurant is just good. Everything we had was fabulous!

I've been to this place a couple times and it never disappoints. The menu is always changing and very delightful surprise each time. The last time my wife and i visited this place the dinner was fantastic! They have wonderful appetizers to have before your entree and a fine selection of wines to chose from. Good for small groups but nothing over a group of 10. Also i would suggest making reservations because on the weekends they do get very busy

We were looking forward to having a nice meal here after a full day of driving from Texas. The limited reviews we could find recommended this place as an excellent dining destination in mobile. We made it about 20 minutes before closing. Upon arriving, we were greeted by a sweet enough seeming blonde woman. Now to create the image properly: we have been driving for hours, dressed appropriately for the hot alabama weather, me in a brooks brothers t and khaki shorts, my partner in a comfortable Hermes pullover and tasteful black shorts. Suffice to say, we were dressed casually, but not poorly. Our lovely hostess however looked at us as if we were gutter punks busking in her doorway as she snidely verified that we were 'in the right place' by offering us a glance at their menu. I am familiar with their menu, having read other reviews. We declined, stating that we were in fact in the right place and yes we would like to be seated. Well our sweet hostess, after once again asking if we were sure we wanted to eat there, gesturing around at the nearly empty restaraunt, and once again we confirmed yes, we would. It was after this extended exchange that she informed us of the "dress code" which apparently we did not qualify for, despite the fact that our the collective cost of our attire would have outstripped the value of their nicest bottle of wine. We pressed, embarrassed for ourselves and for her, what exactly the dress code was, and she replied only "business casual", when pressed for more details about what was actually required, she did not elaborate. Being treated like trash by a hostess didn't exactly inspire us to return to the car and slip on our evening attire, though it would have been that easy, but the fact, forgive the phrasing, that she was such a condescending bitch, pretty much kept us from prolonging the engagement further. We were hungry, looking forward to a well prepared meal, an escape from the typical road food we've been forced to eat for weeks, and we were turned off immediately by a perfidious glassy eyed quixotic belle who couldn't be bothered to treat potential customers as humans. Despite the promise of a better than mediocre meal; I'll be skipping this place, no matter what I'm wearing.

Before we get to the food, I would like to make a nod to the service - which has been outstanding and makes the experience great. Been here twice. The first visit, we went the traditional entrees route. Second time, we were overcome by our attraction to all the delicious appetizer and did it "tapas" style. While the food was great both times, I'd stick with the traditional route at NOJA. With all the small plates, I was overcome by how fussy it was. Also, they cooked the foie gras. It was just wrong. I do highly recommend the scallops (cooked to perfection), the pork tenderloin, and the duck. The wine list is extensive and can fit many price points. As far as dessert goes, the donut was overrated for me. It's one of those places that you need to go at least once.

  • Sonya V.

WOW!! I just had my first dinner here and bless the next poor man who asks for my ideas for a place to dine. However, if he doesn't adore the entire experience as much as I did recently he isn't worthy anyway. This place was not on my radar at all and is located in a historic section of downtown that is being renovated and offers many sites. That alone is handy because we had to talk a walk after our meal to savor the delight. Noja is charming with a nice courtyard. The service was some of the best I have ever had. You can see to the kitchen and I would define the atmosphere as relaxed yet professional. The prices are in line for the meal, but high enough to keep rowdy people from nearby bars away. Dress for a lovely time and make a meal here one to remember! My favorite things, besides the service and environment, had to be a nice wine list, the small plate offerings, the fact the portions were appropriate and that I felt invited to take my time. While I consider myself a foodie, rushing through a meal is very unappealing to me. OK I will confess I ate too many things, but could not help it. The scallops were some of the best I have ever had. They were cooked to perfection and had goat cheese on them from a little town near me in Alabama that has been around for 20+ years. The lamp chops on the tapas menu were also delish. I tried the foie gras from my date's plate - heaven! From there I was only a sampler from another's plate, but for not being a real fan of red meat his steak melted in my mouth. Next time I go the dessert and coq au vin are on my list - however I understand there is sometimes an off-meu and the regular menu changes according to seasonality. This is way up there in my books.

Great menu. Very tasty and different. Super nice folks. I would definitely visit again!

I read the reviews where people gave Noja one-star because they were not dressed appropriately for such a nice restaurant (and it IS a nice restaurant). I, for one, am glad that there are still restaurants who enforce a dress code. If you can't get dressed to go out to a nice dinner....try one of the numerous local chain restaurants in Mobile or one of the casual spots on the Causeway. However - don't trash a restaurant with one star because you didn't meet their dress code. Be a good diner and call ahead next time to figure out if they have one. Sadly - dress codes are rare these days - and I appreciate that Noja thinks enough of its clientele to have one!!!

I wouldn't have needed yelp to find this place. It seems like Noja is recognized by many to be great food. I will say Noja is probably one of the best restaurants in South Alabama. It is definetely THE BEST restaurant in mobile. I have consistently had amazing dinners here. i actually became yelp king of mobile here at noja. AS KING OF MOBILE, I WILL PROCLAIM FRIDAYS AS... NOJADAY FOR ALL OF SOUTH ALABAMA! seriously. that good. If you are on a date, ask to sit outside if it is available. My coworker and I had a very romantical dinner out there on our second visit. Unfortunately, for me, Vincent is not a hot chick or else i would have definetely scored some major points there! What a waste... The Food and Service are both top rate here! The servers will make sure that you find a wine that you will enjoy and also make great food recommendations. They clearly understand that planning my dinner courses is SERIOUS business for me and at a restaurant like this you are faced with difficult, tough choices. To the food! As appetizers go, i will recommend the slow cooked egg! I almost want to start making all my eggs this way, but souveeing an egg for an hour and a half every time i feel like eating an egg might be going a little too far. Of of the specials for the week has been a ribeeye cap that has been souveed for many moons. I highly highly recommend this if it is available. For dessert, have both the ginger donut with the berry cream together. Sweet...sweetness.. Thx. Noja! See you again soon!

My wife and I decided to check this place out for our anniversary this year. It was great! I loved the upscale feeling with warm touches. The staff is incredibly friendly. Having an exposed kitchen was pretty cool. The wine selection is great! We started off with their beer braised brisket app which was heavenly! My wife ordered the filet and I had the coq au vin. Both were delicious and expertly prepared. We made an excellent decision in ordering their homemade ginger donuts and ice cream for dessert. That definitely topped off a great dining experience. I can't wait to return and try the rest of their menu!

I had some amazing food here in Mobile while I have been here on business but this place takes the cake. Everything I had was perfectly executed. The plateing was refined as well. The one downer was the server. I found my self wondering where she was and waiting beyond reason on a slow paced night for refills, cutlery, and the bill.

This restaurant is a top notch venue in Mobile and if you are in town it's a must. The scallops were cooked to absolute perfection. The menu is very unique with a good variety. The wine selection was great and the service was off the charts.

Great Restaurant! If you are visiting Mobile and find yourself downtown, look up NOJA! Also, if you are staying at either of the Renaissance hotels, you are within walking distance of NOJA.

If you interested in a romantic evening out with your significant other then this is the place for you. The ambiance and the general vibe of this place is spot on. I would call this place business causal to dressy but I don't think you would get strange looks if you wore a pair of nice dress shorts in there. They have an extensive wine list as well as a full bar. The food is phenomenal .I have eaten here a half dozen times and have never had a bad experience. Last night we started off with the Seared Duck Foie Gras and for our entrées we had the 8 oz hanger steak with goat cheese in a red wine reduction with Noja potatoes . My wife had the Red Fish followed by a desert to die for. It was the Ginger Donut with pop corn ice cream. Delicious !!! . .. Everything was in one word "Perfection". I strongly recommend if you are in town or live in Mobile and have not tried this place you should definitely try it out You won't be disappointed .

Visiting from Los Angeles and wanted to eat here because it had great reviews. When we walked in and asked for a table the hostess said "um, do you want to look at the menu first and see if you like it?" We said no, we're ready. So she said "um , our dress code is business casual...sorrrrrrrry." Ok...so why ask if we wanted to see the menu? Rewd.

Ok... I'm torn..... For the most part the food is incredible... And the server we had was absolutely perfect in every way and coached us through our virgin experience here..... BUT.... The steak ( Hanger and Filet ) portions are WAY too small and the chef is a little bit heavy handed with any sauce on anything you order drowning the natural flavors of the beef or fish... And the prices are way out of whack for what you get.... The two of us spent $160 dollars for a meal that would have cost $90 at Ruth's Chris.... BUT.... Our desert..... The Basil Ginger Doughnut was worth at least $20 of the over payment.... That doughnut was INCREDIBLE....... Must have! We will return BUT we will be careful what we order because of ridiculous prices..... Overall good place

Def one of the best restaurants in mobile, excellent service, ambient setting, and the caliber food to match, have never heard a negative thing about NoJA other than not Being able to get a table which is not that negative to me.

Best fine dining in Mobile! My husband and I have eaten here many times over the years. Frequented by the most discerning diners in town. Mr Diggs, the owner, has a long established reputation for quality dining and service and often is seen circulating among patrons, old and new. The waitstaff is friendly and highly professional. Menu is creative and fresh, changes seasonally, with local ingredients when possible, wine list offers excellent choices. If you are looking for a fine dining experience with a warm and sophisticated ambience, exceptional menu and wine list, this is the place.

I was in Mobile for one night, and was taken to Noja for dinner by a local. This place is a gem right in the middle of Mobile's Entertainment & Arts District. Being inside the restaurant made me feel like I was in SoHo in New York or in San Francisco. I started with the very tasty Soba Salad and had the Sous Vide Salmon for my main course. Both were unique and delicious. Being a Californian my host gave me the wine list to choose, and I was happy to see a wide array of California wines from which to choose. Service was prompt and courteous. Don't know next time I'll be back in Mobile, but when I am, I'll be back to Noja.

This is a good place to eat if you are looking for a good meal. While they have interesting, not your typical menu items (i.e. venison), don't expect a very eclectic menu. I had the venison app, which was good, and the halibut in a wasabi sauce (also good). My server made good wine pairing recommendations. Overall I enjoyed my meal.

Had some friends in town from New Orleans this weekend so took them to Noja for dinner last night before a show at the Soul Kitchen. They were completely impressed with the service and the deliciousness of our choices. We had the seared scallops - yum - to start then I got the salmon over braised cabbage that I had once before and loved. One friend got the springer chicken and was extremely pleased but we all loved the off-menu special that our friend got. I wish I could remember the name but it was some homemade pasta flat noodle with a creamy sauce that had a kick and several plump shrimp. I will definitely be going back, our server said the chef was thinking of adding it to the new fall menu and I hope he does!!!!

This was one of the best meals I've had in mobile yet! Kobe beef just melted in your mouth! You have to try it! Omg! The wine list is nice, the cocktails are ah-mazing! I had some wonderful concoction with St Germaine and champagne.. Oh my, just divine..for dessert we had the donut with homemade chocolate ice cream. Are you kidding me?!? It was so unbelievably simple but out of this world. We also had after dinner drinks specially made, I can't remember what they were..maybe we had too Many! Excellent service and great atmosphere! Can't wait to go back!

Took my wife here for her birthday on July 3rd. Our waiter was a walking encyclopedia of facts about Mobile. Since we are from San Diego we found this very helpful. I decided on the Rib Eye which was excellent. My wife had the Salmon and she enjoyed it as well, but I found her salmon to be a bit lacking in seasoning. The atmosphere inside is awesome. I would never have guessed that such a trendy place would exist in Mobile. As a previous reviewer commented it felt like SoHo in NYC. If you want a world class meal in Mobile you have to try this place out. Be prepared to spend $150-$200 for a couple to enjoy a full meal wrapped with wine, appetizer, dessert and coffee.

Excellent food and service. Our waiter, Mark, was superb. My husband is very allergic to certain foods and Mark made sure his were prepared spot on. We had 30 day aged rib eyes that were to die for. Can't wait to go back. Great bar selection as well.
