Italian Cuisine
The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.
Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.
If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.

I LOVE Italian food. Mirkos offers homemade pasta. Although the restaurant is in a strip mall, the restaurant is quaint, smelt delicious and had a good atmosphere. Aside from the ambience, the food was great. I was with 4 others. We all had different dishes and everyone loved their dish. Dishes ranged from ravioli, chicken, seafood, vegetarian paired with pasta and everyone thought they had the best dish. It was good, fresh Italian food! It was delicious and will definitely be back. The service was also on point. Everything was fantastic.

I have been to this restaurant several times and have always been very happy. However, my most recent visit has me wondering if I will return. There wasn't a hostess on duty so the man who ended up also being our waiter sat us. We were seated behind a wall away from any other guests which I was fine with at first. Our waiter hurriedly brought us to our table and asked what we wanted to drink before we were even sitting. My fiance ordered water but was brought coke for some reason. Since our drinks were brought back to us rather quickly, we needed a minute to look at the menu before we were ready to order. It then became clear that our waiter (who wasn't wearing a name tag or told us his name) had forgotten about us. I could see him rolling silverware and chatting with other customers at the bar. It was also at this point that we noticed several gnats flying around. 20 minutes later, he came back to take our order. This was also the only time he ever came to a complete stop at our table or even looked at us. When we were ordering, he was scribbling our choices on the back of a receipt he had just picked up. It was clear that he did not think we were worth his time. We also had not received any bread at this point either. As he left to take our order to the kitchen, he said that we were his first priority! That was clearly not the case. Before our food came out, he took my drink to refill it. When he brought it back, he placed it precariously on the very edge of the table as he walked by. Every time he came to our table, he placed things on it while walking away. He did not even stop walking while he put our food down on the table. When we had finished eating, he had appeared to have forgotten about us once again. I placed my debit card on the table to indicate that we were ready for the check. Instead of bringing the check, he just grabbed my card off the table as he walked by. The only receipt I ever saw was the one I signed. His attitude toward us was extremely rude. Perhaps if I had been dressed in more expensive clothing he would have cared enough to take me seriously? It will be a long time before I return to Mirko Pasta.

This place is AMAZING. This restaurant is definitely my number 1 favorite place for date night! The atmosphere is just perfect and the food is absolutely delicious. I could not believe the price either. Two people can have a meal for under 30$ and be completely full! The staff is great, very friendly without being overbearing. I think I've been there at least 20 times and I have absolutely no complaints. Would definitely recommend!

Okay... they are now three for three.... Our last visit was for lunch...Again...excellent...enthusiastic pleasant staff and food that is really good.... Wow.... strongly recommend this place. It turns out it is a franchise but you would never know it. This is unique for this city which since the closure of La Lousianne, and the Pillars lacks the Italian personal touch. They make you feel at home in a warm environment with food that is a notch above anything of this gendre...good work guys!

This is my favorite Italian restaurant in Mobile by far. You have to try a pasta with Alfredo sauce. I have never gotten anything that I do not like there. Delicious!
(5)Misty D.
Didn't care for it. Neither of us finished our food. The ravioli was gummy and pasta not fully cooked. It seemed dry and bland. *sigh* I'll have to cook when we get home. So.much for date night.

Great food! Passing through mobile and we picked this place because of the ratings. Glad we listened to fellow yelpers!!! ***GLUTEN FREE option! thanks!!!
(5)Kevin G.
Always a pleasure! Great service. Thanks to Melissa for suggesting the salmon-the best! A must-try place for Mobilians as this is the, dare i say, best Italian in town!
(5)Ingrid B.
Tasty and a good value. Select your pasta, sauce, and topping. Had capellini with bolognese and meatballs. Good size portions. Didn't like the bean/olive oil dip for the bread - May just be a stickler for traditional olive oil and balsamic. Good service and friendly staff.

Simply put, the best restaurant in Mobile! Great service, amazing food, and extremely inexpensive for what you get. Pasta is freshly made, (I personally love the Tagliatelle), amazing sauces, fish, Beef Carpaccio, ect. Mobile has needed this for a long time.
(5)Jon M.
The only decent Italian that I have ate at around here. They have an interesting set up with pick your own pasta and sauce. All for a very cheap price. Good service, good food, and good vibe!
(5)Missy D.
Our new favorite restaurant in Mobile! Great Italian food and great service. Love the atmosphere and the feel of the place. We have never had anything less than terrific to eat there and you should try it if you haven't already!
(5)Maggie K.
Affordable, delicious, casual. We go here often and are always pleased. Entrees are large and we always have leftovers. Last visit, we got appetizer, wine, salad, entrees, dessert and coffee and our bill was $70! Can't beat that.

My husband and I are in town for a visit And some friends of ours suggested meeting them for lunch here at Mirko's. My mother-in-law had previously raved about it, so we were excited to check it out. Man, this place is excellent! The atmosphere was pleasant and the wait staff very attentive. The warm bread and bean dip they provide was so yummy that we had to physically pull away from stuffing our faces. My entree, the seafood stew, was deliciously robust with a spicy kick that was just perfect for a chilly afternoon. And my husband is now forever a pasta snob thanks to their all-homemade heavenly carbonara trecce spinach. We didn't opt for dessert though and I regret that now! I am honestly unsure how we are going to cope with leaving this gem behind, so we're definitely going to try to squeeze another visit in before we leave!

Had a great co-worker - belated b-day lunch today and we were very impressed. Our server "Chris" was very helpful - and what he advised for us was spot on! You must save room for the best Tiramisu I have ever had and only $6 for a huge serving. I will be back soon! Check out all the of the photos I have posted and tell Chris we said hi and he was great!! Save room for desert.

Mirko is a nice little Italian place that has great portions for great prices. I've eaten here a couple times now. I like the fresh fluffy rolls they bring out with their canaloni bean puree/olive oil dip... warning: it's very easy to fill up on this, don't ask for more bread if you wolf it down, you've got a lot more food coming! Fresh pastas are used in many of their dishes. You can add your protein of choice to most pasta dishes, and there are several italian standards like lasagna and chicken parm. I really like the chicken parm, it's barely breaded so even though you get two good sized breasts, you can eat them without feeling so stuffed. The penne I had with my chicken parm this past visit was a bit al dente to my tastes, but the sauce had a nice kick to it and the chicken was great. I've never been able to stomach a dessert, one of these visits I'll have to take something home. The menu isn't extensive, but the food is good, the portions are huge, and the prices are really low!
(4)Kenneth C.
Great service by Casey our server. Prices are reasonable. Food was good. Tiramisu was the BEST!! It's a must have!!
(5)Aaron S.
One of my favorite Italian restaurants in Mobile. The staff is fabulous, service is fast, and the food is top notch. It is not your normal chain restaurant. If you have to choose one place to eat in Mobile, Mirkos would be at the top of the list.
(5)Jillian M.
This is a great place to get real Italian. They make their own past as as all the sauces. The staff is friendly and willing to help with meanu in any way. I has the lasagna verde and a caeser salad in it was delicious. I ended my lunch w the strawberry and banana crepes, its actually the reason I went in and i fell in love with the entire operation. A hands down must try.
(5)Richard C.
Had Sunday lunch on our first visit and could not have been more pleased. Food was excellent and service could not have been any better. Will definitely be back for dinner and have already recommended it to many friends.
(5)Jason F.
Polo Marsala Funghi, substituted with capellini pasta and spinach in place of the potatoes. Very well done!
(5)Christopher P.
Interesting idea, pick a fresh made pasta, add your choice of sauce, add a protein if you like. Love fresh pasta so it should work. Execution still needs refining in this location. Service was fast and friendly, if not a bit amateurish. (Someone brings out the entrees and your salad plate is still in front of you, so you end up rearranging the table so they can sit down the plates. It's always a sign that the wait staff has never dined out themselves or has not been trained well). Pasta was tasty, sauce was a bit heavy for two of the three plates. Kitchen could use a little more subtlety in the presentation. Flavors were good. Patio seating was pleasant, but the thin cushions weren't enough to soften the uncomfortable chairs. As we were leaving, I looked under the cushion to see what was so uncomfortable and the manager happened by and said "yes, we get that complaint a lot, I'll have to look into fixing that". Maybe that won't be an issue for future patrons. We will try it again I'm sure. They are still new in town and working out the kinks.

WOW! This place is amazing! If you're a foodie like my husband and I, it's a MUST! Nice decor/atmosphere. The food? Everything they say it is and then some! I like to cook with good recipes and make things from scratch (just can't do it very often) and you know immediately that the food here is from scratch! There's no canned sauce or frozen ravioli or boxed pasta--ALL handmade. And I've never calamari so tender. The service was just as excellent as the food and we will be going back again and again! LOVED everything!
(5)Tina M.
Mirko is truly a gem in Mobile. With freshly made pasta, handmade sauces, the prices are SURPRISINGLY reasonable. Service is wonderful as well. cons: We ordered the crepe for dessert (given it was a bit late on a Sunday or Monday) and it tasted old. Also, don't order the Crab pasta entree. I've been there 3 times with different groups of people, and NO ONE likes that dish. Even one of the servers noted that it was not popular (which I appreciate!)
(4)Heather M.
Went to Mirko last night with some friends. We did wine down Monday which that in itself is a great experience :-) But the food was amazing. I had the spinach and ricotta stuffed ravioli with the Granchio sauce. That sauce is incredible people! YOU.MUST.TRY. Anyway, great food, excellent service, and a good way to spend a Monday night with friends.

Stopped in today for lunch. Great pasta & sauce. Great service and the white bean dip is terrific. All the pasta and sauces are made fresh daily. A must try!
(4)Angel E.
Went in for lunch and had to wait 15 mins to be seated but it did not feel too long. The hostess was very nice and made things easy. We were seated in a booth which we loved - it was comfortable and felt private enough. Our waiter was great - he helped us with the wine and the menu; service overall was friendly, prompt and attentive. We would definitely ask for the same server next time (Chris). Now to the food --- mussels were somewhat oversalted to my taste, wish there was more dipping sauce; my salad (the one with everything and salami) tasted good but I kept looking for the dressing ( some of the greens were on a dry side); pasta (in house made) and the sauce (red; had some procuitto in it, do not recall the name) were slightly on a spicy side and very delicious. Tiramisu was light and fluffy, we were looking for more coffee flavor in it, but all in all it was close to 5 stars. All in all, it is definitely a go back to restaurant to try new things and find what we like and how the menu works. We enjoyed the freshness of the food and the service was great.

Great little Italian restaurant in Mobile. Stumbled upon this place while on this side of town and decided to try it a few days later. The food was very good. The best part of the menu is the option to create your own pasta dish. Nice variety of noodles, ravioli, and sauces to choose from. If you're not the creative type, they offer your usual Italian dishes. The restaurant had the option of dining inside/outside. The staff I encountered were great and attentive. The prices are reasonable. I had dinner there and it had quite a bit of foot traffic, so hopefully it'll be around for some time. This is a place I'll revisit. If you are in the mood for Italian, check out this spot.

Everything about the meal and beverages were good. Took my parents there for the first time on a Sunday lunch and they very much enjoyed it. The service was good as well. The only reason I gave it 4 and not 5 stars is the dessert. The key lime pie (large slice) took over 25 minutes to bring out after we were done with our meal. And it was very VERY small...and it was $6 for that 4 bite slice...it wasn't the way one wants to end their dining experience. Sure I will return for their great pasta, but I wont ever again order off the dessert menu..I'll go elsewhere for that!
(4)Sally M.
Great lunch. You can pick you hand made pasta and sauce. Waiter made excellent recommendations. I had the carbonara sauce.... It will not soon be forgotten. The tiramisu was to die for! Enjoy thus place. I wish I lived closer.
(5)Angela A.
GREAT Italian food. I love being able to pick out exactly what I want. The homemade pasta was out of this world. One major downfall for me was the weird spread they give you for your bread. It was flavorless and unremarkable. An olive oil dip would be easier and MUCH more flavorful! The best part of the meal was the INCREDIBLE TIRAMISU!!! Holy crap it's the best I've EVER had, and I'm a tiramisu junkie!! I want an entire tray of that for my birthday. No, seriously. It's August 4. Give me a tray of tiramisu from Mirko please! The wait staff was friendly, the patio was pleasant, and the hostess was super sweet. They have great bathrooms too. I'm funny about bathrooms. I'll definitely be going back, and soon.

I had spinach lasagna! Home made pasta was very good! I can't wait to go back to try all the other dishes. Delish

What a great surprise to find Mirko Pasta. Having moved from the North End of Boston recently, the Italian food in the Mobile area has been disappointing. Nikki, our server, was busy, but attentive and friendly and we were pleased with the service. We typically find that service is poor in Mobile restaurants, with a few exceptions like Noja and The Bull, so that was a pleasant surprise. There was an overabundance of servers and back waiters working when we went in on a Thursday night. It did seems like they were bumping into each other and it was a bit distracting, but we were seated in a booth in a high traffic area by the kitchen window (ask for a seat in another area). I expect that they will solve some of that as they get things figured out in a new restaurant. The decor is nicely done and modern (read: no cheesy murals of the Italian countryside, fake grape garlands, Chianti bottles covered in fake candle wax, etc.). The wine and beer menu is decent and the appetizers were good. The rolls and white bean dipping sauce was delicious. My dining partner got the Beef Carpaccio (which he liked) and I got the Caprese Salad (which was good but the tomatoes tasted old). The fresh pasta was a wonderful thing - all Italian restaurants should be making their own pasta - seriously! I had the ricotta and spinach ravioli with the sorrentina sauce. I was warned that the sauce was garlicky, but I love garlic so I ordered it anyway. However, this was so insanely garlicky that it made my mouth burn and it was hard to eat. They need to get a handle on that. I doubt it suits many people's tastes! My dining partner got fusilli, bolognese sauce and meatballs, which got high marks. The menu is fun and different - you can pick out exactly what suits your mood - and the prices are very reasonable. We had two apps, two dinners, two glasses of wine each, and a shared dessert for under $80. As a vegetarian, there is PLENTY to choose from - a lovely change from typical Mobile restaurants. Give it a try - we will definitely go back to try it again.

Great new place in Legacy Village (off Dauphin Street near I-65). The pasta is homemade along with sauces and more. Delicious! Service was excellent, too! Well done menu. 4 of us had 4 different combinations, and each of us was very happy with our choice (and tasted all the others, too). Salads were good, too. Oh, and we finished with key lime pie and chocolate gelato ... perfect! Stuffed and very content! Highly recommend! We WILL be back!
(5)Micah S.
Ate here with a group of 9 people after our wedding ceremony at a nearby church. Staff and service were great, they explained everything and helped with orders. Food was delicious and obviously fresh, there were no complaints from anyone. The even gave us a free tiramisu because we were celebrating our marriage! Highly recommend!
(5)Eugene L.
Ok let me go on record to say if you have not stopped by this gem, you are missing out! I was a first time customer and Courtney our waitperson was awesome. She guided us thru the menu with the knowledge of the pastas. Loved the meal! The atmosphere and staff were great!
(5)Hoa K.
Omg omg!! Where have I been??!!!! This quaint little Italian restaurant is delicious!!! Homemade pasta all the around!! Wine list for days! I had the basil ravioli!! Oh my goodness! It was divine! The ravioli was fresh and spinach was fresh! It was like they made it especially for me! It's not thick like other restaurants or grocery store type raviolis. It's bursting with flavor!!! The lunch deals were pretty decent!! The tiramisu was amazing! Made in house daily and not overly sweet! It was creamy and melted in my mouth!! Definitely, will be back soo '
(5)Greg A.
Great place for pasta..! Salad was weak but I forgot about it by desert time... The chocolate gelato was good but not like in Europe... Good place overall..!
(3)Misbah U.
Food was yummy, service was another story. Our waitress just was not good, didn't check on us or help us with the menu (first time there)She then proceeded to over charge us 10 dollars on our drinks by charging us for refills. She "accidentally" pushed the drink button 5 times, I'm pretty sure she did it on purpose because I complained about her service. We weren't sure if it was just there policy to charge for refills and found out when we got home that it was not. Totally ruined our night. But... The food was yummy!
(1)Nandini M.
I was driving through Mobile with my parents and I needed a restaurant with lots of vegetarian options and this fit the bill. It wasn't too far off the highway and in a nice, upscale shopping plaza. The food wasn't fabulous, but satisfying enough. We enjoyed the Eggplant Parmigiana and the Norma sauce the most out all that we ordered. The desserts were pretty solid too. Overall Mirko Pasta was just what we were looking for and a great reprieve from the road.
(4)Mama D.
My daughter and I go to Mirko just about every time we go to Springhill. The food is fabulous and the service is also great. The white bean dip they offer to start out a meal is to die for! I always get their spinach lasagne with a bechamel. (Forget the exact name of it) Go hungry!
(5)Orlando L.
Mirko Pasta is a great restaurant. We have eaten here several times, but on this visit I ordered the Caesar salad and pollo marsala. I really liked the Caesar salad, they give whole romaine leaves with shaved Parmesan cheese with croutons. The chicken Marsala was good, it was also served with potatoes, mushrooms, and spinach. For dessert we ordered the tiramisu, which I highly recommend. Very good it's probably the best I have ever had! The wait staff is very attentive, very deserving of a 20% or more tip. The bread with white bean dip was a nice touch. My wife and I will definitely dine here again. PS: I fixed the location of this restaurant, so now you can check in without getting the alert saying your too far away to check in.
(5)Jessica A.
Tasteless food! Not worth the money or time don't go. The staff was cleaning the restaurant while still open for over an hour more of service. If they spent more time on food versus sweeping floor and cleaning maybe it would be better.
(1)Ashley H.
I almost didn't try Mirko after learning that it's a chain restaurant. I'm go glad I did because I've been back several times and have experienced great food and great service every time. I've had the chicken parm, ravioli with sausage, and the lasagne, and you can't go wrong with any of it. For dessert, I'm hooked on the pistachio gelato and little shortbread cookies. I haven't ordered an appetizer because we like the complimentary rolls and bean dip they bring out after you're seated. It's all very reasonably priced with entrees ranging from about $10-$15. The place is in a strip mall, but they do have a nice little "patio". It's just a room with walls and a ceiling that happens to have a huge door they can raise, and I really enjoy sitting there. I would definitely recommend giving Mirko a try. I'm sure thankful that I did.
(4)Brianna R.
Excellent service and food! Me and my boyfriend came tonight for our 4 year anniversary and everything was perfect. Pasta and dessert was great. Our waiter even gave us a free dessert for our anniversary. His name was Josh. I will definitely be back
(5)Matthew H.
I can't express how much I love freshly made pasta! You can't beat their specials and fresh bread with that white bean dip!! One of my favorite places in Alabama!
