Solid BBQ. White sauce is on time. Good sweat Tea and very friendly service. You really feel appreciated for doing business with these people. It's right off the interstate and well worth a stop in. No waiting at all. No fried food. Some fried okra or fries would be a nice addition but the place being simple is kind of what gives it its charm. Ribs are St Louis Style. Pulled pork is dry with a couple of sauces to choose from. Slaw is vinegar based not mayo and tastes like they chopped it this morning.

BEST BAKED POTATO WE'VE EVER HAD...!!! AND FANTASTIC RIBS...!!! Stopped at LawLer's Barbecue drive-thru on a roadtrip from Ohio to Gulf Shores, Alabama. This location is on I-65 just south of the Tennessee state line. We got a quarter slab of ribs and one of their famous Stuffie baked potatoes loaded with pulled pork, sour cream, cheddar cheese and their sweet tangy barbeque sauce. OMG, the ribs were fall-off-the-bone tender and very flavorful, with a good dry spice rub. These were some of the best ribs we have ever eaten. And the huge, meaty, delicious loaded baked potato was absolutely, positively the best baked potato we've ever eaten in our lives. It was so big and crammed with stuffings that it took two of us to finish it. Also got a bag of Golden Flake sweet heat barbecue potato chips, which are awesome. Some of the best barbecue we've ever had, anywhere. My girlfriend said "thank God they don't have a location in Ohio - we'd weigh 20 pounds more...!" Yep. Totally agree. This place is 'da bomb. Already planning our return stop on the way home.

My first time in a Lawlers Barbecue anywhere -- stopped for lunch on my work break. Ordered the Famous Stuffie Tater with turkey on top. Pretty tasty, was even better with some of the white sauce I found on the table drizzled over it. Satisfied, I left with a full tummy. Would certainly come back or drop in to another Lawler's location to sample other menu items. Friendly staff at this location. Really enjoyed the "fishing theme" inside also.

Super nice folks with really good food. We'll be back next time in the area. I was a little taken back by the idea of mayo on bbq. In truth there's just enough to help the slaw stick to the bread. There's a great selection of sauces including a traditional red, white, mild and hot. I went a little crazy and mixed my own. The sides rocked. High marks for the beans and potato salad. I typically like a little chat on my meat but these folks may have made me a convert.

This place has good barbecue. A little stingy on the portions, but I may just be used to large portions when eating barbecue.

There are many ways to cook BBQ and I would definitely say BBQ in the south is different than the west coast. I am always looking to try new food and I am glad I tried LawLers Barbecue. Got a pound of pork, a pound of turkey, and slaw. Pork wasn't salty (the way I like it), turkey wasn't too dry, and the slaw is more vinegary. Slaw in the west coast is more mayo based so the vinegar was a nice change. The BBQ sauce is what makes the meats taste good. What I noticed is that you add as much sauce as you want because it's not mixed in with the meats. It's definitely an experience everyone should try. If I ever come back I would try the other items here. I like the idea of a drive thru at this location. Quick and easy.

Stopped here with my family as we were passing through Athens. The staff was so friendly helping me order as I was dealing with my children. We tried a little bit of everything and it was all good. Ribs, smoked ham, pulled pork, chicken and Mac-n-cheese to top it off. Whether you're a long time local or looking for a pitstop from I-65 I would strongly recommend stopping here!

The meal we ordered was decadent. We got two pork stuffed potatoes that were huge. We also got the sampler plate which had turkey, ham, pork, ribs, and two sides (Mac and cheese and baked beans). While I was a little disappointed that my slice of pecan pie was a prepackaged Sara Lee serving, it was still good. Overall it was a great experience, and we will definitely be back.

Lawler's is an Athens, AL specialty! They've been around for some time now and I can see why. The bbq has great flavor and texture. They remind me of what I grew up use to in Decatur, AL (Whitt's and Big Bob's). They aren't my favorite, but they are in the top 5 for sure!!

BBQ was good. Cole slaw was vinegary and the macaroni and cheese had much to be desired. Not a good choice of sauces to choose from.... In fact we only saw one. However they were friendly and quick.

I would recommend this place to anyone. Although I thought their prices were a little too high, but they make up for that with quality. The people there are very friendly, the place was superclean, and decorated with some really cool fishing gear. The barbecue pork is cooked over an open pit, which is the way barbecue was meant to be, not in a rotisserie like 90% of the BBQ restaurants out there. The baked beans were good, cole slaw was good, and the potato salad was good. The BBQ sauces were interesting, one mayo based which I have never been a fan of, one vinegar based which was my favorite, one hot sauce just for spicing up everything and a thick sweet sauce that would be great on chicken and ribs. My only recommendation, and this is due to personal taste, would be to add a Alabama mustard base BBQ sauce such as that at Phil's BBQ in Eufaula, Al.

I came here and went through the Drive Thru. Real Quick service and the meat was fresh. I got the tasty mac as a side and it is well worth the pick.

Wonderful food and service. Highly recommend the loaded potatoes, but my wife really liked her pulled pork sandwich and barbecue beans. Definitely would like to stop here again if we get back to Huntsville

Forced off the freeway by a crazy wild storm, we never expected to find satisfying BBQ at a place with a drive-thru pile-up resembling McDonald's. Lawlers serves fare like pulled sandwiches, chicken, and ribs. Inside, you place your order at the front counter (pleasant staff) and the food is handed to you almost as soon as you've finished paying. The moist ribs and chicken are served dry-rubbed, with a good sauce on the side that you can add to taste. Sides are good, too--particularly the potato salad and sweet vinegar cole slaw topped with crisp pickle slices.

We don't get food here often, but when we "treat" ourselves, we get the loaded baked potatoe.. Yumm is an understatement! This thing is LOADED! You get sour cream, cheese, chives, and whatever meat you want. One of these could feed two "normal" sized people! :)

Update: 10+ trips here and still a great experience. This local favorite really earned its stars. Sometimes the wait at the drive-thru can get a bit long but the food is worth it. Try the nachos, or order a pound of pulled pork to-go and make delicious sandwiches at home. You can also buy the sauce bottled, but the meat is so flavorful it truly doesn't need it. Staff is still courteous and facilities still clean.

Quick little fast food bbq shop off I-65. I had the pulled pork sandwich which was ok but the highlight that I didn't get was the bbq stuffed potato that I saw some of the locals eating. A huge loaded baked potato stuffed with the bbq meat of your choice and topped with the sauce of your choice. If you are ever on 1-65 near the Alabama and Tennessee border, stop and get the loaded potato.

Dropped by for dinner while traveling I-65 to get away from the typical fast food chains. Went inside although they do hav a driv through. Got a small BBQ pork plate w/ baked potato @ green beans. Good BBQ, no frills, hometown feel, friendly staff, mostly local customers. Was pleasantly surprised when they happened to be having a special for under $6 (reg. plate price was $8.95). I'll be back next time I'm passing by @ meal time!

Decent BBQ... the place wasn't very busy and it was merely o.k. Had we not been in a hurry we would have headed up I-565 a bit.
