Been here once and wasn't impress but it wasn't bad either. Had pork chop which was good. It was very thin and crispy on the outside. It was a bit dry. The salad wasn't very fresh (lettuce turned brown...) and ... blah. It's a small and cute little local shop -which I like to support, so I probably will go back again...someday...

Love this restaurant! My husband and I have been here at least 3 times for dinner in the past 3 months. I really like the steak and he gets whatever the special is (which he always says is great). The sides are all good and there are lots of options. If you would like bread with your meal, you do seem to have to request it. The key lime pie is the best we have had since Key West. We will keep going, as it is our new local favorite restaurant since moving here recently and I highly recommend it. It is worth the drive from Huntsville for us!

The staff are very friendly but I found the dinner menu limited. Mostly steak and seafood and I was hoping for more items to choose from. I decided to try the salmon and my husband got the seafood kabobs. Way, way, way too much teriyaki sauce! The garlic mashed potatoes were wonderful and there was plenty of them. The green beans were limp and lacked any flavor. But overall, we were satisfied with our meal. I don't think we'll be back soon though.

Nice friendly service, good food, nice decor, right off I-65. Far better than the typical Interstate restaurant.

Pulled into this place with a surfboard strapped to by car as I was moving from NJ to California and I stuck out like a sore thumb. I figured that I'm in the deep south, I might as well get some deep south food. The place seemed like it was packed with the after church Sunday crowd. Had the fried pork chops. They absolutely lived up to the grandiose expectations that I had for Southern food in my head. Generous portion. Good service. Great vibe. Southern hospitality. When the waitress asked me about my surf board I told her I'm moving to California. She said that traveling sounds nice and that she never left her COUNTY. That one took a long time to sink in. Never left your COUNTY. Not even but to set foot outside. It made me sad. Anyhow, the food and the sides were terrific. I don't know if I will ever be in Athens Alabama again but the food was memorable enough to write up over a year later.

Can't go wrong for lunch...for $8.50, you get a damn good lunch as long as you don't mind fried foods....fried chicken tenders, fried shrimp, or fried catfish.....ate there once for dinner and it can get a little pricey.....staff is very professional for a little, southern dinner off the beaten path. The Reuben is very good although they could give a little more corned beef. Oh, almost forgot, they play the same overhead music ALL THE TIME......it's like restaurant music you'd hear from the 1950's of 1960's.....classical elevator music....try some smooth jazz.

Disappointing. I'd been here before and everything was better - food and servce. Ordered the filet, but when it arrived it was a strip steak. They did offer to recook it, but I didn't want to sit while the others ate. The service was attentive but fast - we were still eating the mains and were asked about dessert - then the check was left on the table. I know restaurants want to turn the tables over, but really. Give us a chance to eat. Oh yeah - no beer or wine.

Enjoyable southern style restaurant. Food tastes great. The restaurant sits beside an Amish museum and pioneer building. Catfish was great.

After reading a online menu we decided to eat at Clarks. Everything sounded great and wonderful. STAFF- the hostess, waitress, and everyone was friendly and did a good job. FOOD- the food was the biggest let down. We ate with a group of 4 and not one person was happy with the food. I had fried shrimp, potatos, and fries. The shrimp was nothing more than something you get from walmart in the frozen food section. It came with 7 and I ate 3. Nothing seemed to be made fresh. It was either from a bag or can. BUILDING- The building and site was clean, nothing fancy in the building. Yellowish ceramic tile and older out dated tables and chairs. I always prefer local over a chain restaurant, however this time I would just stop at Cracker Barrel which is right beside Clark's

We chose to come here over cracker barrel and I am so glad we did. The catfish was cooked perfectly. The garlic potatos tasted great only needed a little butter; they are thick mashed potatos. The green beans did not have lots of flavor but they did have some lousiana hot sauce to correct that. My husband had chicken kabob, garlic potatos and coleslaw. He loved all of it.

We were heading north on a road trip and stopped by Athens for lunch. Clarks was rated the best American cuisine restaurant here so we stopped by. Place: Average, people here dress formal and there are a lot of old people. Service: Quick but not that quick, more like average quick. Price: Worth it! The prices weren't that high nor Mcdonald's cheap, I'ld say decent enough. The Food: Great for a restaurant on the way but I could have driven an hour and a half to Nashville for a better place to eat or if you're heading south to Birmingham. Conclusion: Starving and need some real food? Stop by! Can wait? Go somewhere else.

What an amazing place to eat! I have never had a bad meal there. The chicken and dressing is my favorite and the steak is wonderful as well. Oh, and try the mixed berry cobbler.............WOW...........the perfect ending to a perfect meal..........
