Friendly staff, who makes you feel at home. The restaurant is clean, and relaxing. We tried four different dishes which were all perfectly tasty.

Come for yummy yakitori and the best shrimp tempura in town (trust me on this) and friendly staff! Keep up the good work folks!

Best sushi house in all of Anchorage! If you are ever in the 907 area and in south central Alaska, do yourself a favor and go to yakitori!

Wrote a previous review and still feel the same! Yum, yum and yum! They stil treat you very well when you go and I love trying all their menu items. I like to try other places but the service ends up being lackluster. So when I go back to Yakatori, I quickly realize why I like it there so much. They are always welcoming, warm and it is uper clean in there. The servers rember you and the sushi menus and sauces definately have the chef's signature. Sometimes I think the prices are a bit high, however, when I am treated so well and the food so good, its a good deal and I leave quite happy. A couple of times I have purchased the salad dressing to take home. So fresh! I especially love the orange they give u at the end of your meal. A nice personal touch and thats why its one of my fav places to go and take visitors.

Good, quality food. Love going here, it's cozy and sends out that homey feel. The service was amazing. Prices are just right. I love their pork belly, i'd give it 5 stars, their baked salmon roll has changed from the last time we went here. I noticed that the special mayo sauce was missing, not a big deal but consistency counts. The scallop was just okay, cooked right as it was tender and juicy. Also tried out their Thai Iced Tea Bobba, too sweet for my taste and looking for that "thai tea" kick. would still go back, but i suggest stick with their yakitoriS.

I was a bit disappointed about their lunch options, but it was all worth it when the spicy sashimi roll arrived. Amazingly tasty and spicy. Wonderful flavors. My only disappointment is that my visit here is over.

This place provides fresh & reliable sushi. Despite the tacky decor the food and service were impressive. They also offer deep fried Oreos to cleanse the palate. Who doesn't like that! If you find yourself in Anchorage craving sushi check it out!

Disappointed. The oyster is not fresh, and the nigiri is just fine, nothing exciting.

So far, it is my FAVORITE sushi place in Anchorage! You really can't go wrong with anything you order! Bruce lee lamb chops, reindeer sausage, chicken, sushi, and I especially love the fried rice ball! Yum! Small inside but very nice little place and the people that work there are very nice!!

Raw fish are not fresh at all. Uni just stinks. However, cooked dishes are all very good. Lamb chop is a must have. Very juicy and flavorful.

YES!!! Exactly what I wanted to find!! Ordered the sake zushi bowl and every little thing on my plate was delicious and flavorful and fresh and it couldn't have been better. The sushi chef came to talk to me and I noticed he greeted everyone and people knew him by name. Go here. Go go go. It is wonderful!

I revisited Yakitori, and it was just OK, the sushi roll (hot night) was nothing out of the ordinary and actually tasted a bit bland. I say- stick with the skewers! Service was nice.

Oh my goodness! Some of the best sushi I've ever had! Great service too. We sat at the bar and chatted it up with one of the sushi chefs. Reasonably priced, loved this place! We've had several meals in Anchorage and the surrounding area over the past two weeks, and we would trade any one of those for another night here. Would recommend to anyone and everyone.

Meresiah G.
Every dish was freshly prepared. Very well seasoned, juicy and cooked. I was very impressed with the shrimp. I've never had pork belly or beef tongue, so now I have something to compare to. The taste never left my taste buds and I wanted more. The meal was excellently crafted.. Props to the chef. Customer service was on point. Definitely coming back for more. This will be my number one for sushi from now on. Thank you!

We were looking for seafood restaurants in anchorage given its plentiful access to fresh seafood, but were having trouble finding anything good on yelp. We came across this restaurant and though there are only a few reviews the pictures all looked pretty legit. We were very pleasantly surprised with the quality of this yakitori and Japanese food joint. Each yakitori dish was rock solid. They also offer a wide variety of other Japanese cuisine dishes and they were all solid too. Well done.

I ate at the bar. All food that I ate was Spot on and delicious. The chef was very nice and so was all other workers.

I ordered the tempura udon. Food came out fast. Udon was tasty and came with a lot of veggies. The shrimp tempura was very nicely cooked.. Wasn't overdone like most Japanese restaurants. Service was excellent. Ordered only one sushi and it was the fancy teardrop shaped roll, which shows you true sushi skill.

Love love love the food and service!!! Feels like family always fresh sushi and other wonderful meals such as the steaks and fried rice. I honestly will never go anywhere else for sushi and bacon wrapped scallops!

This place really isn't my cup of tea. With sushi, the rice is 90% of what makes sushi delicious. They definitely messed that part up BAD. The rice is overly mushy. The sushi here looks exactly how store bough sushi looks and tasted about the same. Very disappointing. It doesn't matter how fresh their fish is if they can't get the rice down. The yakitori portion of the restaurant is okay. But they season everything exactly the same, and it's all way over seasoned. However, I do love how they have pork belly and gizzards.

Went here for lunch with some coworkers. Figured were in alaska, they should probably have some good fish, figured wrong.... I got uni, scallop and salmon nigiri and some yakitori. None of the nigiri tasted fresh, I'm actually worried about my stomach as I'm writing this review. Scallops tasted like they were previously frozen. The nigiri rice was cold and dry :( like how do you mess up sushi rice?? On to the yakitori, got the chicken and the shiitake mushroom. I was not super impressed. Frankly it tasted pretty average. One of my coworkers got the yaki soba and the kitchen definitely used the costco frozen veggies mix to prepare the dish. I mean common, I have that mix in the fridge at home man. Left here un satisfied and scared for the 5am flight I am catching the next day....

Yakitori Sushi House is my favorite sushi restaurant in Alaska! The combination fried rice is amazing. I absolutely love the skewers! Some of my favorite skewers include the pork belly, chicken breast, and mushrooms. The staff is always friendly and the service is good too.

This review Like all my sushi reviews Is done in haiku --------------- Let my love unfurl! Yakitori's "Sexy Girl" Is the best damned roll! Now don't get me wrong Their "Best of Best" roll was strong Totally on song! But that "Sexy Girl" My world it did overturn For her I'll sojourn Back to Anchorage I'll propose concubinage! Let us be engaged! My love is afire That "Sexy Girl" I'll desire It's her I require! In all seriousness, that "Sexy Girl" roll is the best sushi roll I ever had. It was sublime; it made me see, for the first time, what is possible with a roll when you mix the ingredients exactly right. Each element in the roll elevated it to something grander. Truly the sum was greater than the parts. You'll notice I write reviews for a lot of sushi places all over the world and so far Yakitori has given me the most sublime roll I've ever had. Highly, highly recommended restaurant.

It was our sons 21st birthday and is a Sushi nut. We are from Arizona on vacation and this was the first choice on yelp. With an extensive menu we had a hard time choosing. Best sushi ever. Staff very nice and food is fresh and delicious. Thank you.

We try to keep it our secret spot but why be greedy? :) Delicious yakitori, sushi rolls and sashimi! I prefer the yakitori with no sauces and just the seasoning. Jeff is very friendly and the atmosphere is very welcoming. The best and freshest in town!

Glen J.
Friendly guys behind the bar whipped out rolls minutes after we asked, every time. A glass of plum wine, three rolls and a couple skewers later, I walked out satisfied and happy. I'm not a food snob - the California roll and bacon wrapped scallop skewer were my favorites. Definitely recommend this place!

By far the best Japanese food in town. Yakitori isn't completely authentic like I am use to but still very good. This is now our only Japanese spot in Alaska. Staff are very friendly too. Highly recommended.

Fantastic! I thoroughly enjoyed the meal. I sat at the sushi bar and had a good time chatting with the yakitori chef, Jeff, as he prepared my choices. The atmosphere was excellent and most of the customers were return customers known by the chefs who greeted the them enthusiastically as they entered. Jeff recommended a cold Saki that he said was his favorite. He has good taste as the Saki was smooth and sweet, with slight floral flavors with almost no bite. I didn't get the name as I don't read Japanese but it was in the small blue bottle. I ordered both yakitori and sushi. I ordered the lamb chop and Unagi yakitori. Both were outstanding but the lamb chop was far and above the star of the show. It was cooked perfectly, just slightly more then rare. I had it spicy and it was amazing yet didn't overpower the taste of the chop. It was so wonderful I ordered a second one. As for sushi, all appeared fresh and of the highest quality. They were having a special on albacore tuna and white king salmon as they had just gotten a shipment in. Both were tasty and fresh. The sushi chef appeared to have excellent knife skills and it was a treat to enjoy the items. The meal of course came with a bowl of miso soup and a salad. Nothing spectacular here but both were very tasty. I asked the sushi chef, Denny, what was looking good today and he suggested the Umi with quail egg so I had that. Besides being visually stunning the taste was amazing. Thu Umi was briny and smooth and the quail egg breaking in your mouth coated your tongue with the most amazing flavor that complimented the Umi just amazingly. A true treat to the senses. He also suggested the Hamachi as it was also fresh. Again, fresh and delicately cut with deep rich flavor. A nice treat which if the Umi hadn't completely overshadowed it would have been a great by itself. The apprentice sushi chef, Tao, talked me into his specialty, the 3 on 3 roll. This is a true American sushi roll in that it was absolutely huge. It was a meal unto itself. It had splashes of color and was amazingly spicy. It consisted of crab, spicy tuna, and salmon. I had about 3 pieces and it was wonderful. I stopped eating it because there were more items I wanted to try and there would have been no way I could have eaten the whole thing. This roll was made to be shared. Next I had spicy octopus sashimi and a spicy jumbo shrimp yakitori. The octopus was amazing. It had just a hint of spice with no rubberyness. It was light and refreshing. The jumbo shrimp was just slightly overcooked but had an amazing flavor. All in all I had one of the best dinners I've had in awhile. I recommend this place for the atmosphere, the yakitori, and for the sushi. It is the real deal and was outstanding. If you go, say hello to Jeff, Denny, and Tao for me.

I absolutely love this place. We've been coming here since they opened in 2013, and they have kept up the quality and service since day one! Our favorite is the House Fried Rice, but I also love the spicy beef tongue yakitori. They have excellent traditional rolls, but their specialty rolls are excellent too. One of my favorites is the Tiger Eye roll; very good. We keep coming back, and enjoy every visit.

Very friendly owner, I don't generally like rolls but the Japanese dish here decent. The rice, the bentou and the skewers r close enough to real Japanese food.

In town for a business trip and stumbled on to this place. And I'm glad I did. The yakitori is phenomenal. Especially the eel, pork belly, and spicy lamb. Skewers are larger than typically yakitori restaurants but they manage to keep it moist and delicious. I love Japanese food and have tried 100+ places in the US and this place ranks near the top of my list. Must try.

Todd Q.
My wife and I have eaten lunch here twice. The sushi rolls have been very good. The spicy shrimp skewer was excellent with a mix of spicy and sweet to the sauce. Chicken teriyaki skewer good but slightly dry. The staff is very friendly with good, attentive service. We will be coming back.

ARIeL P.
This place is legit. It was decent. Not Japanese owned but it's a place to go. Fish is also decent. Not the best. Then again I don't know what's good in Anchorage being from Cali. The atmosphere is trendy with their younger clientele. I'll be back.
(3)
Nicole G.
The service was great start to finish. I had two chicken breast skewers. They were so good! Great flavor and great quality of chicken! I also had the udon soup. The flavor was amazing and the noodles were so good! My husbands sushi looked amazing and he said it was great! Price is normal. When we paid they brought us tempura fried oreos. Oh my god heaven in your mouth!!!!! Will totally be coming back!

This place is simply fantastic. The sushi is very good, but don't skip the amazing cumin lamb served on skewers and the bulgogi ribs. These are a perfect accompaniment to the sushi. And the service is fast and friendly. If you want Japanese food in Anchorage, just go here. You won't be sorry.
(5)
Jojo P.
Highly recommend the skewers. Pork belly, lamb chop and heat skewers were my favorite. I've had the sashimi appetizers and cut/portion was awesome. For dinner, you get a deep fried Oreo when they bring you the check. I've been in Alaska for a week and have been here 3x. This is an amazing place to have food at!

Yakitori is one of many sushi establishments here in Anchorage. However, for all of the available options, I find myself always returning. Why you ask? We'll allow me to explain. Contrary to many of the places, this is actually a much smaller place which is the backbone behind the allure. Of the many times I have been there I have always ended up carrying on conversation with the sushi chefs and waitress and sometimes even other patrons. Maybe it's the open friendly atmosphere, or maybe some kind of magical spell, but all I know is that I am always in a fantastic mood and having a great time! Multiple times I have even found myself staying long after finished eating their outstanding sushi just to chat. So if you want a place that is not only going to fill you up, but also have you leaving with a big grin on your face, this is the place to go!! Like... Stop reading this and go there... Right meow!

This is the best sushi in Anchorage, no question. Expensive but top notch food. Can't go wrong with these guys! Super small establishment, very fresh sushi and amazing service!

Spend 7 days in Anchorage and ate here 3 times!!! THE BEST JUMBO SHRIMP ON A STICK I HAD EVER HAD!!! Pork Belly On a stick was also amazing! Salmon Sashimi was so fresh and they give generous portions. Do not leave without trying the Fried Oreos for dessert. By far an amazing treat at the end of a good meal!!! But what makes Yakitori the Best Restaurant in Anchorage?? The Staff who work and own the restaurant! So nice and so welcoming... Will always recommend this restaurant to friends who visit Alaska! Thank you for the great meals!!!

The sushi at Yakitori is incredible! I just moved to the Anchorage area from Seattle and was worried that I wouldn't find any decent food in town after many failed attempts at locating good Indian and Thai food here. Praise the Lord! Yakitori is my new favorite go-to sushi place. Service: excellent Food: delicious Price: reasonable 5 stars!

Best. Period. I'd have to go about 10 more times and try everything else on the menu to really give a fair and thorough review...but if we're going strictly with first impressions, this is the best sushi place I've ever eaten in Anchorage. We went for a late lunch at about 1:30pm. (there were only about 3 other patrons there at the time) Quiet. Impeccably clean. Very attentive service. Had water and menus within 60 seconds of sitting at the bar. We ordered 3 sushi rolls and had them all on our table within 7-10 min. Pricing on par with most other sushi places. The staff was very friendly and you can tell that they take pride in the quality of their work. Food? Fresh. Clean. Beautifully done. ...I cannot honestly find a single thing to complain about. My only suggestion for improvement...is the wasabi. It was not steam-out-of-the-nose hot like most fresh wasabi I've had. I could literally have eaten it by the spoon. ...that said, I'm a guy that likes to eat habanero peppers...so maybe it was me, but it was still a tad weak compared to fresh wasabi. Final word? Fantastic. I plan on going back many more times so that I can round this out with more impressions. Great job guys! Thank you!

This sushi spot is fairly new. Interior is okay and pretty small. Ate around 5pm so wasn't busy. Service was great. When the sushi chef comes out to ask if everything is okay, that means service is on point! Could of got a water refill though. FBI roll was absolutely delicious! Possibly the best roll I ate ever. Unique thing about this place is their 'Yakitori". Basically a small skewer with items such as glizzards, hearts, chicken, pork belly etc. Grilled n seasoned. We got the glizzard chicken and jumbo shrimp. All so good. Great alternative to the standard appetizers. Overall great place. Great service.

Okay. First of all I'm a big Sushi guy and currently live in Seattle. I didn't come in expecting and out of the world experience, but the first piece of Salmon I ordered came out frozen. I have never in my life ordered sushi frozen. I've seen sashimi done this way in some parts of East Asia, but this was new to me. Frozen fish crunch, on sushi rice is bizarre. I'll take a star off for that. Salad was very sweet. Probably just overly dressed. I did enjoy the sesame seed flavor to it. ;) Miso is good. ;) Everything else was good. Price seems appropriate for this part of town. I like the fact that this place is clean. :) Will likely be back.

All the raw fish here is fresh and delicious.... Really great sushi joint. They also have a lot of great appetizers and grilled meats. If you are into all those fancy rolls with all the flair they have that too.

Great blend of sushi and yakitori (grilled meats on skewers). Small but cozy. Friendly staff. The pork belly is good, spicy lamb chop is out of this world!

First thing is try the Lamb chops. We tried one and ordered about ten more the first night there (chuckle). We went there primarily for the Yakitori as there are already too many places to eat sushi in Alaska. Tired of the Sushi. At any rate. So we ordered only Yakitori items and sized them up against our memory of a well-established Yaki house in Los Angeles. The review was mixed. Lamb chops, chicken wings, beef and giant shrimp done well; nicely charred on coals and made to order with fresh texture and appealing flavor. Not so well done; corn was soggy and horrible, grilled rice ball totally misses the mark with a glob of teriyaki sauce and uncooked, soggy patches. Pork wrapped asparagus not wrapped in the proper kind of pork fat and instead wrapped in bacon which is not the way it should be done. The flavor of the veg goes out the window and gets inundated with the flavor of the bacon. Should be wrapped and grilled in caul-fat. None of the traditional yakitori condiments were present on the table, including Togarashi pepper and lemon wedges. Inside was clean but not especially comfortable as we were sat next to the back of the restaurant where a mighty draft through the backdoor made us keep our jackets on during the whole meal. Service was however attentive and drinks brought promptly. Dinner for a party of three with lots of alcohol came out to about $150.00 before tip. We will go back soon despite shortcomings.

I managed to go there with a groupon with a friend of mine. Everybody was very polite to us and one gave my friend a fork while they noticed me unsuccessfully try to teach her to use chopsticks. I had the sexy girl roll with the yakitori (pics are up) and she had the bulgogi. Everything was amazing and she said that this was one of the best meals that she's had for a long time. Everything was a reasonable price and you get big portions of food. When we left, the guys at the grill bowed and said bye to us. Made me feel important (pulls suspenders while grinning :)) I will definitely return. Great customer service.

New in town and this is close by so we decided to try it after a long day of dealing with a flat tire. Great food, cool atmosphere, friendly staff. 4 stars instead of five for the following reasons: -food takes a long time to come out - but to give them credit it was pretty busy, and the food ended up being delicious. -sodas are not refillable - they bring you a can and a glass. I will likely return since I want to try the beef yakitori, but I won't order a drink and I'll expect a wait for the food.
(4)
Jongwon L.
My local friends brought me to this place for dinner. The food was very tasty, especially salmon sashimi. We ordered a bunch of yakitori too and they all were well seasoned and delicious. I will definitely go back to this place when I visit Anchorage next time.

Best sushi and service! I recommend sitting at the sushi bar. The chefs are friendly and make good recommendations!

Awesome- so glad I bought the groupon. From the outside this place looks a little seedy, but once inside it is super cute. Would definitely come back and pay full price again, and that is saying a lot, coming from a coupon queen. Try the Hawaiian roll! Divine.

The food is just plain GREAT! If your skeptical about where you eat sushi because you want quality taste, go here. You won't be disappointed!

Most japanese restaurants in Anchorage are carbon copies of each other. This place stands out because of their yakitori menu and the fact that they have several other unique items on their menu (agedashi mochi; chawanmushi). I frequently trick my coworkers into going there for lunch.

I was in Alaska on vacation and chose this place because of its high ratings on Yelp and was not disappointed. Service was friendly and attentive. Upon entering for my second visit the chef immediately recognized and greeted me. More importantly all of the sushi I ate was extremely fresh. The uni especially was incredible. I dream of uni that good. I only had two pieces of yakitori but that was good as well. If I ever find myself in Anchorage again I know my first stop.
(5)
Misty S.
Only reason this place gets a 4 star instead of a 5 is because the cost of meals is WAY to expensive. My husband and I spend $100 before the tip. We did not expect the high prices and such small portions. The food was excellent but probably won't be back as often as we would like. Great staff!

Great Sushi and Yakitori Sticks What a treat!!! must try the Lamb , the Pork Belly is great to. Umi is great also.

I love this place!!! The food is terrific.. the pork belly yakitori is fatty porky heaven on a stick..The lamb chops are to die for. There are a good number of non-traditional yakitori selections..all are highly seasoned and beautifully grilled. Every sushi dish I've had has been fresh and flavorful with some interesting taste combinations. The Baked oysters are luscious. My favorite white tuna sashimi is prefectly fresh. The staff is friendly and attentive. They make one feel very welcome and valued. I look forward to trying more of their selections...and of course...more pork belly!!

A group of us had lunch at this great new sushi restaurant. The owners are friendly, and the restaurant is calm and quiet. We tried several skewers (Asparagus, tofu, garlic and eggplant) and all were good. They have a great variety of rolls. The volcano and anchorage rolls were both delicious. Can't wait to come back and try the rest! Highly recommend!

Great little Japanese place. Friendly staff, clean and good selection. Food was very good, portions were decent. I ordered a donburi along with a variety of skewers, and enjoyed everything. Will definitely be back.

I absolutely loved it here! The place was pretty empty when I went in with my friend, which was nice, though it was about 2:30 ish. I ended up here with a groupon, but their food looks just like the pictures. Well portioned too! All you really need to order is one roll, because they're so big and filling! Their pork belly satays were absolutely delicious and well flavored! I also had the bulgogi bento box, and that was most definitely the best bulgogi beef I have ever tasted in this town! GO HERE! You won't regret it! I would go again :).

(5)Glen J.

(5)Cheng-Wei L.
Very friendly owner, I don't generally like rolls but the Japanese dish here decent. The rice, the bentou and the skewers r close enough to real Japanese food.
(5)E R.
Very tasty! Anchorage roll was really good and big. free miso, salad and dessert! Nice staff as well.
(4)Ben F.
Was a solid meal. Good service, fresh fish.

Must try.
(5)Todd Q.
(5)ARIeL P.
This place is legit. It was decent. Not Japanese owned but it's a place to go. Fish is also decent. Not the best. Then again I don't know what's good in Anchorage being from Cali. The atmosphere is trendy with their younger clientele. I'll be back.
(3)Nicole G.
(5)Doug T.
(5)Jojo P.
(5)Zach B.
Right meow!
(5)Eric H.
Great food, great service, great ambiance. If you want fresh sushi you should come by and give this place a try.
(5)Angela F.
This is the best sushi in Anchorage, no question. Expensive but top notch food. Can't go wrong with these guys! Super small establishment, very fresh sushi and amazing service!
(5)Lillian K.
(5)Ruby C.

(4)Adam M.
Great blend of sushi and yakitori (grilled meats on skewers). Small but cozy. Friendly staff. The pork belly is good, spicy lamb chop is out of this world!
(4)David B.

(4)Jongwon L.
My local friends brought me to this place for dinner. The food was very tasty, especially salmon sashimi. We ordered a bunch of yakitori too and they all were well seasoned and delicious. I will definitely go back to this place when I visit Anchorage next time.
(5)Kaitie S.
Best sushi and service! I recommend sitting at the sushi bar. The chefs are friendly and make good recommendations!
(5)B W.
Awesome- so glad I bought the groupon. From the outside this place looks a little seedy, but once inside it is super cute. Would definitely come back and pay full price again, and that is saying a lot, coming from a coupon queen. Try the Hawaiian roll! Divine.
(5)Kris Q.
The food is just plain GREAT! If your skeptical about where you eat sushi because you want quality taste, go here. You won't be disappointed!
(5)Lisa D.
Most japanese restaurants in Anchorage are carbon copies of each other. This place stands out because of their yakitori menu and the fact that they have several other unique items on their menu (agedashi mochi; chawanmushi). I frequently trick my coworkers into going there for lunch.
(5)Johnny H.
Wow. Fantastic food and service !
(4)Pete D.
(5)Misty S.
Only reason this place gets a 4 star instead of a 5 is because the cost of meals is WAY to expensive. My husband and I spend $100 before the tip. We did not expect the high prices and such small portions. The food was excellent but probably won't be back as often as we would like. Great staff!
(4)Daryl D.
Great Sushi and Yakitori Sticks What a treat!!! must try the Lamb , the Pork Belly is great to. Umi is great also.
(5)Lea C.
(5)Mariah S.
I also, had the lamb and it was Great! The seasoning was perfect and it was very tender. A great value.
(5)Diane K.
(5)Jo T.
Great little Japanese place. Friendly staff, clean and good selection. Food was very good, portions were decent. I ordered a donburi along with a variety of skewers, and enjoyed everything. Will definitely be back.
(5)Elizabeth C.
