Pizza
Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.
Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.
Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.
Italian Cuisine
The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.
Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.
If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.

We travel about 11 months of the year with our job. We love Pizza. They have a greek style pizza that is different from anything we've eaten elsewhere. It is really great. We alway eat at Guido's when we are in Anchorage.

Guido's used to sponsor a lot of kids sport leagues, and we always stopped by for a team dinner. I remember the pizza being really rich; tons of cheese, not many toppings. But hey, some folks go for that. Don't dine in, it's kind of creepy and dark. The only thing I crave from their menu nowadays is the Greek salad. Wide range of delivery area too.

Guido's is cool. Based on the exterior, I expected a tiny little pizza shop. But uhh... Guido's IS HUGE inside. This is a good destination for sports teams, church groups, motorcycle clubs, etc because Guido's can accomodate several large groups at once. The place is SO big that when you first walk in, you may have getting someone's attention to get seated. Be patient, because once you jump that hurdle, you're in like Flynn. Service was great once we got to our seats. Both staff that we intereacted with were super nice. The menu is pretty limited with your basic Italian standards like pizza, meatball subs and veal parmigian. The pizza was very good and I'm damn picky about pizza. Best cheese I've had on a pizza since I moved to Alaska. My honey was pleased with his homestyle lasagne and inexpensive beer. The best surprised of the night was the live bluegrass (Thursday nights), which was a blast. That alone will keep me going back to Guido's. I'm curious about bagpipe night, which I think is Monday nights. Looking forward to becoming a regular at Guido's.

Pretty mediocre, huge space of tables, but not very full on a Friday night. I got pretty irritated because they only have one kids meal of spaghetti and meat sauce and they won't tailor anything else to be a kid's meal, not even just meatballs when they have a mini meatball dinner $9.75 which is what I had to end up getting for my daughter. The meatballs are just okay and the salad bar is super pricey for what you get. Think maybe 10 different veggies to put on it with a one trip being $6.75 and you get one of those tiny round plates, you can't fit much on it, but if you get unlimited $9.75 they give you the oval plates? Weird... The staff is great, the only reason they got two stars. I wouldn't come back here just because of it not being kid friendly and also its just okay food, nothing to write home about. I was really hoping it would be great being a little dive nestled in a strip mall, but I was totally disappointed. Maybe their pizza is great i'm not sure.

I've been ordering here since the mid-1980's and have landed on the Greek Style Pepperoni as my favorite. Lots of great antiques and even live music circles some nights.

This place had me confused from the moment I walked in. THE POSITIVE: It was a busy night all over town and this place had tables available. It's huge.... Like Chuck E Cheese without the games. I ordered pizza and the crust was top notch..... Truly first class! Our salad was big enough to feed 4 adults easy.... We ended up taking two full large to go containers home packed with salad!!!! THE NEGATIVE: We were seated by a waitress wearing sweats and a dirty moo moo. Our table wobbled so much a drink would never survive. Yes, we moved to another table. Our next table was set for service yet had not been cleaned. I'm still trying to figure out how garlic bread crust flakes got on top of a ready for service napkin.... Really? It sounded like a children's summer camp was in session next door. Lots of camping style singing to the tune of a standup bass and ukelele. Nooooo, this monstrosity was coming from inside the restaurant. I estimate at least 20+ students were learning to play ukelele to the tune of, please god let this nightmare end soon. How the hell did I not see this group on the way in? My fiancée was starving and we had no choice.... We would be giving this place a try. The cheese bread was drab and tasteless to say the least. I know what your thinking.... Cheese bread? A no brainer... Yes, these people screwed it up. The garlic bread was basically a toasted butter/ oil bread.... Not much garlic. Probably the problem with the cheese bread. The white pizza sauce was basically onion grease with raw onion chunks throughout. I could have saved $20 bucks and bought a onion. The other specialty pizza we ordered had almost no sauce at all and what it had was reminiscent of Chef Boy O WTF!!! Our drink was never refilled in 45 minutes of service on a $70 tab? Finally this nightmare is over and we are packing up and ready to leave. The waitress was nice enough to bring us extra salad dressing for the to go boxes..... To bad there was a long black hair jetting out of the container via the lid. Overall..... Next time I'm hungry and all the places are packed...... I'll microwave a hot pocket :-)

This place is huge, when you look at it from the outside it looks like it's going to be small. We had a few of their different speciality pizzas and they were all good. The salads were piled about a foot high and had a lot of toppings. Pretty awesome place.

They are a little bit inconsistent, but when they are on their game, it's one of the best pizzas in town. They are pretty rude when you call for delivery though. They act like they are doing you a favor by delivering the pizza. UPDATE - Their customer service on the phone has improved significantly.

The pizza is decent pie. Greek salad is very tasty and huge. Great for large groups with no reservations. Very friendly staff

full disclosure -- I know as much about authentic pizza as William knows about singing. Until I have eaten a pizza in Greece, Guido's is my fix for Greek style pizzas. I can't remember if I ordered anything but the Greek style.. The dough is perfectly chewy and full-bodied. And the butter sauce is slap yo mama good. As far as I'm concerned, it is protein swimming in butter on dough perfection. And it is important to note that their quality is very consistent. I've been eating their Greek style for 10+ years and they always exceed my expectation. I also highly recommend their Greek style salad which has enough chlorophyll for a family of 4. There are die hard fans of Moose's Tooth, but for this local foodie, Uncle Guido rocks his world.

Guido's used to have the best pizza and Calzone's in town. Used to. We had a meat lovers pizza, greek salad, and a couple different calzones. The pizza's used to have a lot of toppings on them but now they are more like a pizza hut or Little ceasars pizza. I would rather pay a buck or 2 more to have the pizza the way it used to be. The calzones were mostly dough, very skimpy on the fillings. The Greek Salad was good. Please Guido, go back to the way you were doing things or you will have lost several customers.

While in Anchorage we ordered a delivery pizza from Guido's.e heard they had pretty good pizza, however we did read one really negative ad concerning their delivery. We assumed someone just was having a bad day or maybe it was just an off night at Guidos/\. We ordered a pizza and about an hour later we called. They said -Oh- it will be right out. About 1/2 hr. later the delivery man sauntered in swinging the pizza carrier in the air. We stopped him & asked him if that was for us. He was rude, & uncommunicative He took the money as hed deaded out the door without even asking if we wanted change. The pizza itself was good, however lots of places have good pizza with better customer service. We would not order here again just because of the delivery service. Order somewhere else. If you order pizza here- pick it up yourself.

We often went here for work lunches and the pizzas were pretty delicious. I agree with everything John P. said. Not much more I can add. The only thing is that it doesn't really compare to Moose's Tooth. But, I.M.O. what does?

I take it one reviewer came in on a bad day, or is pissed at this place, oh well. I have ordered Sandwiches and Pizza from Guido's over the years, and the Salads. I have to be honest. If you are in town, and feeling like a Pizza and Salad, come to this place. The Greek Salad just Rocks. The Double Pepperoni will cause you to A.) Die, B.) Get one to Go. It is one of the Oldest Pizza Joints up here, and there is a reason for that. Don't be fooled by the outside. Worth a try!

I went here after this years bodybuilding competition. They were very accomadating for our seriously large party. The food was good, but not seriously good. Our server had just enough sass to make him great. Refills were prompt and there were no complaints from any of our people and our 5 million different tickets. The place does look older, but it's been there forever, and it was clean as were the bathrooms.

The best microwaved cardboard in Anchorage! Show up on a Saturday afternoon and it looked closed. Took 15 min before anyone greeted us. Menus is a single page printed on a computer, laminated and you can't customize your pizza. Cheese bread was bland and hard. Pizza, a medium sausage, tasted like microwaved left overs. I'm not sure who he was but a guy that looked like Santa claus was walking all over the place doing sports betting on his phone. Go figure.
