Wow, this place is generally decent. However, they seem to have went downhill over the last few times. I ordered the beef noodle soup and it was the most Americanized, bland tasting soup I have ever ordered. We also ordered the house special and it made Panda Express look like a 5 star restaurant. Wont be back again to give this place another chance.

Just picked up a take out order and was amazed by the quick friendly service, HUGE portions that have me in a coma, and the crab cream cheese wontons that leave me wanting more! Save yourself some time with trying other places and head over to this place!

We order delivery here every pay day, we cant get enough of it! They always give you so much food it lasts us two or three days for dinner. We always order the general tso chicken, Mongolian beef, shrimp fried rice and eggrolls, mmmm im salivating thinking of it! The delevery (on base) is quick and they package the food so nice and neat. Dropped to 3 stars. Sorry, China Town, you no longer have my love. Went there yesterday for a late lunch at the request of the older kid. Had a great experience last time, so thought it would be another edition of fabulosity! Not so. Broke down tables with duct tape on the seats, shouted at by the host from across the room, long wait for the waitress, no special menus, slow drinks, dirty floors and restroom, and NASTY food. Seriously. The egg drop soup was nothing more than water, corn starch, and a couple eggs thrown in. My "shrimp with lobster sauce" was the egg drop soup with some vegetables and shrimp added. The fried rice was the color of soy sauce with some chicken bits and (guess!) egg. The water-fried dumplings were alright, but came out after our dinners (because they took so long to cook, said the waitress) so kind of killed the whole idea of an "appetizer." Prices were average. Came away with a $49 bill and feeling like I'd been sitting at a salt lick. I'll avoid this place for now. Meh.

One of my go-to spots for authentic Chinese fare. The other being Charlie's Bakery. Craving something not drenched in sugar laden sauce, or swimming in cooking oil? This is the place for you! I used to work near here, and would order take out/delivery frequently. Walnut shrimp - deep fried sea nuggets topped with a creamy mayo based sauce and walnuts for an added crunch of texture, and pineapple fried rice - sweet and savory fried rice goodness, are two of the best dishes I've tried so far. Make sure to ask for the Chinese menu. Ask your server if you have any uncertainty. They will gladly point you in the right direction.

I only went to this sketchy looking place outside the back gate of Elmendorf because of the 5 star rating. The place is a total dump in a run down mini mall. Furnishing consisted of a few beat up booths and mismatched folding chairs/tables in the main dining area. 'Ok, 5 stars, be brave and look past the initial image' I said to myself. 5 stars, one of the highest rated places in Anchorage.... Well, I guess my mistake was not to order off the highly touted 'authentic' menu and ordered off the 'lau fung gway' menu. But I was only one person and wanted a single dinner for take-out, so I had no choice. The MOST disgusting kung pao chicken I have had in my life. Sauce consisted of canned artificial red corn starch heavy nasty sauce with skin included chicken, onions, and green peppers. No peanuts or dried peppers! Accompanying this was sweet and sour pork with a heavy greasy coating in the same disgusting red sauce as the kung pau. Came with greasy non-appetizing fried rice and an egg roll that was previously frozen and reconstituted with another heavy wallop of nasty tasting oil. Took a few bites, the rest went into the trash (and I was really hungry too..) I cannot imagine that their standards of quality for their 'authentic' dishes could be drastically higher.....

While I have enjoyed food from here many times, they tend to mess up orders and do very little to make it better. When we called to tell them 2 out of 4 dishes were wrong, they put us back on the list for food (making our wait time for food total over 2 hours). The woman on the phone wasn't helpful at all and did not seem to care that they had delivered the wrong food. I would consider going to eat at the restraunt still, but definitely not doing delivery!

China Town is clearly a house in decline. On the basis of other reviews, we chose China Town for the first and last time. Not only did they mess up our take out order, but the food that we got was bland greasy and tired. Then, when we called to rectify our order, the management argued that the order was correct, that we were trying to get food for free, and immediately before hanging up on us, they called my wife "stupid and cheap". So unpleasant was our experience that my wife is negating the charges on our credit card as I type this. Bad food, the wrong order and hostile management is the perfect storm of a restaurant that has seen better days. Never again. If only I could rate this restaurant with fewer than one star.

Got some food to take back to our hotel nearby after a long day in Seward. The food was delicious and generously portioned. As others have mentioned, the pricing is very reasonable, compared to other restaurants in Anchorage. Next time I'm back, I'm definitely asking for the Chinese menu. Staff was very helpful and friendly. Decor, what's to say ... chinese restaurants are not known for their decor. I'll definately be back next time I'm in town. BTW, GPS said restaurant was on right side of street (heading away from downtown). It's actually on left side.

I've lived in Alaska almost 3 years now and had Chinese Food everywhere that was mediocre at best and some that were just plain horrible (How How and Golden Pond were the worst and now closed, thank God!). This place, despite being located in an ancient strip mall outside the Government Hill gate of Elmendorf AFB is wonderful. Food is all made very fresh and a lot of TLC, not drenched in sugar-laden syrups or gobs of soy sauce. I had beef and broccoli cooked just right, not all saucy, plus sweet and sour chicken lightly breaded and egg roll made from rice paper instead of that doughy crap. Fried rice had bits of red pork and their Korean kimchi was very good too, made with red pepper paste. And yes, it is old and not impressively decorated, but somehow the atmosphere works with "hole in a wall" character. Final note: we live in Eagle River and it's worth the commute.

I no longer live in Anchorage, but I have to put in my 2 cents worth about this place. I was brought to this restaurant the last time I visited during fall of '07. I was a bit skeptical because, well--come on, it's located in Government Hill. Actually, the location is quite fitting. It's difficult to imagine this restaurant somewhere else. It's kind of hard to explain, but whenever I go into that area of Anchorage, it's as if I'm crossing over to uncharted territory, so to find a good ethnic restaurant in a place that feels unfamiliar to me--well, it works. The food really is as amazing as R L describes it, although, as he mentioned, I don't know how the food off the English menu would compare. Neither my companion nor I read Chinese--we both speak some--so our server brought out pictures of Chinese dishes. I'm not going to go into detail about what we ate, as it was a bit ago, but it was super delicious. I went home and told my ma and sister about it, and we all made the trip back a week later, as one of my final meals in AK. So good! To those of you who are looking for real Chinese food, you must check this place out!

SO GOOD! I love this place! The best fried rice I found in Anchorage. My favorite is the large Honey Sesame Chicken, small Fried Rice (with or with out shrimp), and an order of Fried Doughnuts. Sure the place look a little on the shabby side outside but no complaints on the inside. And they deliver if your order is over a certain amount, which I think is $15. The only complaint I have about this place is the amount of time it takes for the food to be delivered. Between 45 mins to an hour. But it is Anchorage and most deliveries take that long and the food is always delivered hot. And they have a very cheap buffet which is good, small but good.

I don't get it. This place got amazing reviews, and we ordered from the Chinese menu just like we were supposed to. But... and I hesitate to say this, because the service was friendly and attentive, and we received fried rice on the house... The food was really unforgivably bad. Almost every dish was swimming in oil, and worse, the dishes were just bland and flavorless. An extreme shock after reading all the 5 star reviews. The only explanation I can think of is that our entire party of three is white. So maybe they ignored the fact that I'd requested the Chinese menu and just gave us the awful "Americanized" version of their food that received a 1-star review elsewhere. But... that really sucks. I asked for the Chinese menu. Shouldn't that request be secret code for "give me good food"? I might be back someday, but not without several Chinese friends...

There were several Veggie friendly options and the person who took the order got it just right. I would order from here again when in town.

We were traveling in Alaska and after several days of sandwich, pizza, burger fare, we seriously missed some steaming hot Chinese cooking (yes, we are Asians!!!). Found this restaurant through yelp iphone app, and it was great! The food was authentic (highly recommend their fish soup), attentive service, and the chef sent us a big plate of tasty fried rice free of charge! The first thing you start to notice when you're living in Anchorage is the paucity of authentic Chinese cuisine. There's a lot of white-people Chinese food, mostly run by Koreans. I have nothing against white people or Koreans, as long as neither is in any way responsible for the Chinese food I order. Up until now, it seemed that I would simply need to resign myself to this sorry state of affairs. The few Chinese people living in Anchorage I met agreed, saying they rarely ate out, and no one really had anything to tell me. And then, I heard about China Town Restaurant. I'd heard a few people say, in a general way, that there was a place that was ok up in Government Hill, but as it was a bit out of the way I didn't really explore. Finally, a wife of a coworker who happens to be Shanghainese told me about this place. Normally I wouldn't trust a Shanghainese person's taste in food any further than I could throw it (ahem) but I was frankly getting pretty desperate. So I took the drive out. Boy am I glad I did, but at first I was unsure. The place was pretty spartan, which was a good sign. Only forks out on the tables -- hm, that's worrisome. The lady who seated my girlfriend and me was obviously not American, but she didn't address us in Chinese. The menu on the table was completely in English, with a "Korean food" section in Hangul and Japanese -- no Chinese in sight. I was beginning to think I'd been led astray. Then an old man walked in, and the lady who sat us started speaking to him extremely fast in Dongbei dialect. Turns out she's from Liaoning. My jaw nearly dropped open two feet, it had been such a long time since I heard Mandarin that sounded the way it's supposed to. When she came over to take our order I addressed her in Mandarin, and suddenly I knew that everything would be ok. I asked her what was good. She recommended Yuxiangqiezi, a favorite of mine. We ordered that and also a Sichuan hot pork soup, another recommendation. We were not disappointed. It was awesome. I seriously stuffed myself silly, I was almost in tears. It was late in the day and the whole kitchen was out in their aprons, eating noodles and shooting the shit in Chinese. Mainlanders, all of them, but by their accents of scattered origin, all huddled together in the frozen north bringing those of us that left our hearts and stomachs in China a little bit closer to happiness. I'll warn those of you that don't speak Chinese, I haven't any idea if what's on the menu is good or authentic. My suspicion is that Chinese-speakers have an advantage when it comes to selection, which is trivially true in any Chinese restaurant. But if you do happen to be Chinese, and you need some of the food your mama made you, this is the place. This is the only place. Don't listen to the white people who tell you to go to Charlie's Bakery for dim sum, or the folks that say "Sesame chicken at New Sagaya is pretty good for my money." Those people don't know what Chinese food is supposed to taste like, and while they're just trying to be helpful, you'll end up with either a badly microwaved frozen baozi or a cornstarchy-syrupy-sweet mess that not even Panda Express or Mr. Chau would have the audacity to call Chinese food. Suddenly, Anchorage just became an order of magnitude more livable. Now if only they had Chou doufu...

Oh I love this place & their Chinese food. I love the vibe of it, too. Seriously doesn't feel like Anchorage but more like out of town somewhere. Don't be fooled by the atmosphere or the service. The food is worth it. Make sure you order from the Chinese menu which is more traditional than the Americanized version of Chinese food i.e fried chicken covered in red sauce.

Pics from others have to be fake ,the tables don't even look the same and the food surely isn't the same. Greasy food lacking flavor with very few vegetables. And YES we did order off both the Chinese menu and the American one. Sadly the best item was the Chinese donuts our daughter asked for, and not something we would normally order.Do people just have no taste buds here or are they relatives of the owners?

I'm lucky this restaurant is walking distance from my house, but not so lucky that they seem plagued by health code violations. Is there something synonymous with yummy chinese food and undesirable working conditions & food prep?? UGH. I was forced to order from Panda the other evening and found the food to be satisfactory, but just not as good as china town - and the portions were surprisingly on the smaller side. I hope China town gets their act together and re-opens in good time. They offer more specialty items like Lazi chicken, spicy eggplant and roasted duck. Their portions are large and the fried food, i.e., sesame chicken and sweet & sour pork is always crispy which tells me they make it fresh and it's not pre-made in masses and sitting under a heat lamp. The chef dinner for 1 could last you 3 days. The mongolian beef is tender and not swimming in too sticky of a sweet sauce. The fried rice is just ok. all in all, the Chinese food here hits the spot for takeout and I enjoy the opportunity to try non-standardized fare.

If I could I would give them a zero. I called and placed my family's order at 5:33 pm. After a long day my husband and I really did not want to cook and wanted to order something to get here at a fairly decent time. At 6:44 pm after our meal still had not arrived I called and was told the driver was on their way. At 7:13 pm the driver showed up with our food that we ordered an HOUR and 40 minutes earlier. We told them we was not paying that price for food that took this long to deliver to a place that is 12 mins away. Our first time ordering from them and it will be our last. I will not recommend them to anyone.

I visited this place a couple of times for their lunch buffets. The food is actually decent and priced fairly for Alaska, but the place itself is run down and nothing to rave about. I decided to order take out right after work since It was on my way home. I walked in and there was a couple sitting in one of the booth enjoying dinner. A young man greeted me and was very polite. However, while he was taking my order a Chinese waitress was in the dining area clipping her fingernails. Then she moved next to the cash register and started clipping away some more. Needless to say, I walked out and will never go back there again. Like I said the food was decent, but if you can clip your nasty fingernails in front of customers I would like to see how they prepare food in the kitchen. I don't expect a lot from a hole in the wall restaurant, however, cleanliness for me is paramount.

I see some people have given them only one star, that's because they really don't have a clue of how to order. My recommendation to those people is, bring a Chinese friend who can read Chinese and ask the server to bring out their Chinese menu. I am an interpreter, every time I bring my non-Chinese friends to this restaurant, they would express sentiments similar to this, "Wow! I never knew authentic Chinese food is really like this!" They are always pleasantly surprised. But I can also see why some people give them one star, because if you are here for the type of food similar to those ordinary Chinese American dishes like you would order from Panda Express, then in that case, there really is nothing special about this restaurant. You are better off at Panda Express and order those typical greasy Chinese American dishes.

Service was great but overall, the food was not anything to write home about. I was hoping for something like the authentic Chinese food that I usually buy in Virginia where you dine in and everything is bustling with fragrant aromas of Asian cuisine but it was not. We walked in and I was immediately impressed by how clean their dining area was. One of the cleanest I've seen. When we ordered, we got our drinks right away. I did order hot tea and had to remind the lovely lady about it before I received it. Our food came a few minutes after but not before experiencing loud arguing in mandarin or cantonese resonating from the back of the house. The waitress had to come by and apologize for the noise. We ordered sweet and sour chicken, general tsaos chicken, egg flour soup and shrimp fried rice. The soup was what arrived first. It was spicy and not at all anything that I remembered as egg flour soup [or egg drop soup in the east coast]. It had carrots and cabbage in it. Usually, I'm used to just the soup having just egg...maybe some corn in it and being full of flavor. This soup was spicy and bland. The shrimp fried rice arrived next. My husband enjoyed that it had a lot of egg in it and the overall eggy flavor but as far as the rice itself, that's all it was. A faint egg flavor despite its color. It didn't taste like anything else and very bland as well. :( My husband's sweet and sour chicken was a winner. I tasted it and it was on point. However, the general tsaos chicken was inedible in the beginning. I put some on my son's plate and I tasted it. It was overly crunchy and I almost couldn't bite into it. A few pieces were like that while the others were reminiscent of alright I guess. I had to take it off of my son's plate and replace it with the sweet and sour chicken. I think I won't be coming back. It was just nothing at all what I expected and I was really disappointed.

I'm typically a fan of hole-in-the-wall places, but China Town was just down right scary. First, walking in is basically like walking through a closet like you're on a jounrey to Narnia, but when you get there you find a primarily windowless room with dirty floors, and odd assortment of tables, chairs, and booths, and an old buffet (currently not in use) in a tucked away nook. The menu was pretty lack luster, especially for a vegetarian. Nothing seemed appetizing on the menu, and looked even less so after the order arrived. This place was sketch-town.

This is the best Chinese food in Anchorage, and some of the best I've had outside Taiwan. The restaurant is not fancy but the food is delicious. Ask for the Chinese menu (it's in English) - that's where the good stuff is. They really should get rid of the regular menu or combine it with the Chinese one since people who don't know about the two menus won't taste the best dishes. Highly recommended! Come on, Government Hill really isn't that far.

As a Chinese American student from the lower 48s that came up to Alaska to see the Northern Lights, this place is a godsend. Real authentic Chinese food is hard to come by in Anchorage and this restaurant is the only place that has it in any redeemable quality. My fellow students really liked the seafood they ordered (lobster and King Crab) and I enjoyed the tofu dishes we custom ordered. I saw a few reviews down below saying that the dishes weren't up to par with the restaurant's reputation. While people are entitled to their opinions, I think it might be more of a misunderstanding than anything else. Some of the dishes have Chinese versions suited for mainlanders that won't fit the tastes of westerners. My recommendation is to ask the waitress to have the cooks make your dish a specific way. It would be no different than going to the steakhouse and ordering a steak medium-rare or well done. I think it would be great if the menus offered by this place had more pictures. That way less confusion will be had and more people will enjoy the food!

Food was okay. I'm from Los Angeles and there is really great Chinese food in LA so my review is based on my experience. I had the house fried rice which wasn't very flavorful. My uncle had the fried noodles which he thought was okay. Unfortunately, we had an unpleasant experience with a waitress who was rude to us and said in Chinese that we were obstructive when we were waiting for our take out. Then, after we sat down to wait for our food, she took away the napkin and spoon that my daughter was playing with. I told the owner about the experience who apologized.

Appetizer of pork, $11.00 12 pieces, I can get from Costco the same over a pound for $5.99 dried out junk. Having lived with a Chinese family for months and them being our family friends this place is a dive I wouldn't throw them a nickel their way ever again! Moo Shu Pork like eating sugar. They served it with some brown sauce that was nothing like Hoisin. I see reviews here that their Peking Duck is great, I wonder if they get their duck from the same place Larry's Cocoon does? Outsourced food? Can't be made in house. Just can't be! Oh the Lazi Chicken - don't even consider it. I wouldn't feed the leftovers to my dogs! I even told them I was expecting some nice sauce or something with this. She replied you tell me how you want it next time. Really? Two pieces of bell pepper and a pile of chicken pieces deep fried or wok'ed in oil with a dusting of corn starch. Cardboard is better! The only thing that was good was the doughnuts. No atmosphere, food horrible, no music, what a dive. RUN! You Tell Me next time how to cook Chinese!!??!! There's no next time for you!

The food here is excellent! Ask for the Chinese menu if you want authentic Chinese food. We have been pleased with every dish we've ordered. We saw the roast duck on the menu, that you have to order two or three days in advance, and decided to go for it. When we arrived, our table was set, they were ready for us. A splended roast duck was brought out sliced and beautifully laid out on a bed of cilantro. It had been marinated with seasonings, probably including star anise. It was wonderful! The baby bok choi with Chinese mushrooms we ordered as a side was also beautiful and delicious. China Town restaurant makes really good food! The woman who owns the restaurant is friendly and interested in her customers, and is quite fun to talk to. In spite of being in Government Hill, it's quick and easy to get there. " A" Street will take you all the way there. From South Anchorage take the Seward Hwy to 3rd, then left to A, and on to Govt Hill.

I beg of you- do not do the buffet. Order off the 'other' Chinese menu and taste what they do best. Eggplant, Lazi Chicken, Spicy Pork, tofu and veggies in garlic sauce are solid. Owner is Taiwanese and apparently set up a deal whereby the crews of the China Airlines flights are bussed in for meals and order off of the Chinese language menu. I should say that the Mongolian beef and cream cheese wontons are gooood. The ambience is 70's strip-mall, so take it to go. Definitely worth the drive to Gov't Hill.

I did not have a good experience eating here. The owner and staff were very kind and conversed well, but I did not like the food at all. We ordered the twice cooked pork and some Sichuan style fish. We were told about the more expensive fish options, but I felt like we were steered away from those options. I felt like they were not priced that well, but it may have been better. First let me say that I was vacationing in Anchorage for a week with my husband. We live in North Carolina and frequently eat traditional Chinese food. This place had a good rating and the food was excellent (we ordered off the Chinese Menu). Since we aren't asian, we are usually asked repeatedly if we like spicy food and pork belly before the waitstaff will submit our order. However, I'm removing a star because when we received our bill at the end of the meal, the prices for each of our dishes were higher than stated on the menu ($6 higher). The waitress did not inform us of the price increase, and the owner/manager wouldn't honor the menu price. The cost of food in Anchorage is already higher than we're accustomed, so this unexpected price increase really stung, and left a bad taste.

Good delivery, timing wasn't bad. This was the first time I've ever ordered from them but it was definitely 5/5. I got the Curry Chicken and Beef Lo Mein, and the Curry Chicken was OUT OF THIS WORLD. So good, I couldn't believe it as I don't expect from delivery food. This was truly amazing though. And the Beef Lo Mein was actually really good too, and the rice was in perfect consistency. And none of this food made me feel like garbage afterwards at all surprisingly, as many Asian take out dishes do. I was thoroughly impressed and will definitely order again.

I work SO close to here, it was inevitable that I'd come here. It's a simple restaurant; tables, booths and a couple decorations added as an afterthought. You don't come here to entertain, you come here to get a hearty portion of Chinese food. Ordered the honey sesame chicken which was pretty good, though I should've asked for extra veggies. The amount of chicken was enough for 2 meals, and at under $10 a plate, that's a good deal. Seems like a lot of the Elmendorf folks eat here for a quick lunch, as it's right outside the gates.

This place is not a looker on the inside, but that didn't matter because we just got food to go. The food was great. Got the general tso's chicken and sweet and sour pork. I was so happy that it was just meat and no vegetables - that is all I ever want! Both dishes were great, as were the fried dumplings. Seemed pretty reasonably priced for what you got too.

I thought this place was really good, particularly when you consider it's Anchorage (a veritable wasteland for good Chinese food). On top of that, we did the lunch buffet and I don't know of anywhere in Anchorage where you can eat a good buffet for $8.50. This is my first time eating here so I don't know if it changes but the buffet contained (from memory): Hot and Sour Soup Won Ton Soup Crab and Cream Cheese Won Tons Egg Rolls Pan Fried Gyoza Chinese Donuts Orange Chicken Sesame Chicken General Tsu's Chicken Mongolian Beef Sweet and Sour Pork Some sort of vegetarian stir fry - Sorry, can't remember exactly what it was Vegetable Lo Mein Fried Rice White Rice I might be forgetting a dish or two...it seems like there might have been another chicken dish. We got there at 11:30 am and were there about an hour. While we were there, they were constantly bringing out small batches of fresh food and everything was fresh and newly cooked the entire time we were there. None of the dishes were what I would call outstanding, but everything was fresh and flavorful and it was certainly worth the $8.50. The Mongolian Beef was probably my favorite, followed by the Lo Mein and Orange Chicken. The Sesame Chicken was a bit soggy -- even when they had just brought it out -- but I find that to be pretty common with that particular dish everywhere. I was fairly surprised at the amount of cream cheese in the Won Tons. The gyoza wasn't spectacular and the egg rolls could have come from any frozen food section but both were plentiful, fresh and filling. The fried rice was OK but the white rice was a sticky, gluey mess. The hot and sour soup was really bland and not nearly as spicy as I've had other places. It's sort of a hole in the wall joint but it appeared clean and the servers were fast and friendly -- altho they did not appear to speak much English -- but that was never a problem. I would definately try it again, despite all the comments from people in my office about the location.

The sesame chicken was amazing as was the crab Rangoon and chicken lo mein! We ordered delivery from our hotel and the food was here very quickly. The delivery driver was very nice. The sweet and sour sauce was a little bit watery in my opinion but the taste was great. We'll worth the money. Only took them 20 minutes between the time we ordered to the time the food was in my hands!

William may not know how to sing but he knows his fried rice. And this is the only authentic Chinese restaurant west of Peking and north of Stewart, B.C. Here is a secret from your Asian bruddha -- when you visit China Town, ask the waitress for the CHINESE menu. Yes, you heard it first, there are TWO menus. The default menu, along with their lunch buffet, is catered towards the American consumer. The Chinese menu, on the other hand, is for red-blooded, authentic Chinese. William's favorites include -- steamed black cod, spicy eggplant, halibut head dofu soup. And they also have the Peking duck -- as flava flav would say, Yeah Boyeee! This fine establishment didn't get the 5 stars due to its pricey items on the Chinese menu. The aforementioned black cod is ~$30 for half a fish. something in the neighborhood of $50 for the whole fish. But this would be a typical price for food of this caliber in large cities such as San Francisco. So, man up, cowboy -- before you badmouth our lovely city lacking good Chinese food, give China Town a try.

We ordered successfully once from China Town. Food was great, but we were told we lived too far away (we are on the East side of Anchorage, about 20 minutes away from the restaurant). It was made clear by the woman on the phone that our order was an inconvenience (she said it would be two hours for our order to arrive because we live so far), but they did it anyway. Our food arrived hot and was tasty. Good sized portions, and fed three of us for 2 1/2 meals. On our second attempt we were told they did not have the time to take our order. Disappointing, but since I'm not really willing to drive out to get it, perhaps we have something in common. I guess I'm just not used to a restaurant turning down orders, especially if they advertise free delivery in the Anchorage area. We went with a closer restaurant in the area tonight who did have time to deliver. I hope they are just as good so we don't have to worry about restaurant-rejection whenever we desire tasty Chinese takeout!

Wow, this place is generally decent. However, they seem to have went downhill over the last few times. I ordered the beef noodle soup and it was the most Americanized, bland tasting soup I have ever ordered. We also ordered the house special and it made Panda Express look like a 5 star restaurant. Wont be back again to give this place another chance.

Just picked up a take out order and was amazed by the quick friendly service, HUGE portions that have me in a coma, and the crab cream cheese wontons that leave me wanting more! Save yourself some time with trying other places and head over to this place!

We order delivery here every pay day, we cant get enough of it! They always give you so much food it lasts us two or three days for dinner. Dropped to 3 stars. Sorry, China Town, you no longer have my love. Went there yesterday for a late lunch at the request of the older kid. Had a great experience last time, so thought it would be another edition of fabulosity! Not so. Broke down tables with duct tape on the seats, shouted at by the host from across the room, long wait for the waitress, no special menus, slow drinks, dirty floors and restroom, and NASTY food. Seriously. The egg drop soup was nothing more than water, corn starch, and a couple eggs thrown in. My "shrimp with lobster sauce" was the egg drop soup with some vegetables and shrimp added. The fried rice was the color of soy sauce with some chicken bits and (guess!) egg. The water-fried dumplings were alright, but came out after our dinners (because they took so long to cook, said the waitress) so kind of killed the whole idea of an "appetizer." Prices were average. Came away with a $49 bill and feeling like I'd been sitting at a salt lick. I'll avoid this place for now. Meh.

One of my go-to spots for authentic Chinese fare. The other being Charlie's Bakery. Craving something not drenched in sugar laden sauce, or swimming in cooking oil? This is the place for you! I used to work near here, and would order take out/delivery frequently. Walnut shrimp - deep fried sea nuggets topped with a creamy mayo based sauce and walnuts for an added crunch of texture, and pineapple fried rice - sweet and savory fried rice goodness, are two of the best dishes I've tried so far. Make sure to ask for the Chinese menu. Ask your server if you have any uncertainty. They will gladly point you in the right direction.

I only went to this sketchy looking place outside the back gate of Elmendorf because of the 5 star rating. The place is a total dump in a run down mini mall. Furnishing consisted of a few beat up booths and mismatched folding chairs/tables in the main dining area. 'Ok, 5 stars, be brave and look past the initial image' I said to myself. 5 stars, one of the highest rated places in Anchorage.... Well, I guess my mistake was not to order off the highly touted 'authentic' menu and ordered off the 'lau fung gway' menu. But I was only one person and wanted a single dinner for take-out, so I had no choice. The MOST disgusting kung pao chicken I have had in my life. Sauce consisted of canned artificial red corn starch heavy nasty sauce with skin included chicken, onions, and green peppers. No peanuts or dried peppers! Accompanying this was sweet and sour pork with a heavy greasy coating in the same disgusting red sauce as the kung pau. Came with greasy non-appetizing fried rice and an egg roll that was previously frozen and reconstituted with another heavy wallop of nasty tasting oil. Took a few bites, the rest went into the trash (and I was really hungry too..) I cannot imagine that their standards of quality for their 'authentic' dishes could be drastically higher.....

While I have enjoyed food from here many times, they tend to mess up orders and do very little to make it better. When we called to tell them 2 out of 4 dishes were wrong, they put us back on the list for food (making our wait time for food total over 2 hours). The woman on the phone wasn't helpful at all and did not seem to care that they had delivered the wrong food. I would consider going to eat at the restraunt still, but definitely not doing delivery!

China Town is clearly a house in decline. On the basis of other reviews, we chose China Town for the first and last time. Not only did they mess up our take out order, but the food that we got was bland greasy and tired. Then, when we called to rectify our order, the management argued that the order was correct, that we were trying to get food for free, and immediately before hanging up on us, they called my wife "stupid and cheap". So unpleasant was our experience that my wife is negating the charges on our credit card as I type this. Bad food, the wrong order and hostile management is the perfect storm of a restaurant that has seen better days. Never again. If only I could rate this restaurant with fewer than one star.

Got some food to take back to our hotel nearby after a long day in Seward. The food was delicious and generously portioned. As others have mentioned, the pricing is very reasonable, compared to other restaurants in Anchorage. Next time I'm back, I'm definitely asking for the Chinese menu. Staff was very helpful and friendly. Decor, what's to say ... chinese restaurants are not known for their decor. I'll definately be back next time I'm in town. BTW, GPS said restaurant was on right side of street (heading away from downtown). It's actually on left side.

I've lived in Alaska almost 3 years now and had Chinese Food everywhere that was mediocre at best and some that were just plain horrible (How How and Golden Pond were the worst and now closed, thank God!). This place, despite being located in an ancient strip mall outside the Government Hill gate of Elmendorf AFB is wonderful. Food is all made very fresh and a lot of TLC, not drenched in sugar-laden syrups or gobs of soy sauce. I had beef and broccoli cooked just right, not all saucy, plus sweet and sour chicken lightly breaded and egg roll made from rice paper instead of that doughy crap. Fried rice had bits of red pork and their Korean kimchi was very good too, made with red pepper paste. And yes, it is old and not impressively decorated, but somehow the atmosphere works with "hole in a wall" character. Final note: we live in Eagle River and it's worth the commute.

I no longer live in Anchorage, but I have to put in my 2 cents worth about this place. I was brought to this restaurant the last time I visited during fall of '07. I was a bit skeptical because, well--come on, it's located in Government Hill. Actually, the location is quite fitting. It's difficult to imagine this restaurant somewhere else. It's kind of hard to explain, but whenever I go into that area of Anchorage, it's as if I'm crossing over to uncharted territory, so to find a good ethnic restaurant in a place that feels unfamiliar to me--well, it works. The food really is as amazing as R L describes it, although, as he mentioned, I don't know how the food off the English menu would compare. Neither my companion nor I read Chinese--we both speak some--so our server brought out pictures of Chinese dishes. I'm not going to go into detail about what we ate, as it was a bit ago, but it was super delicious. I went home and told my ma and sister about it, and we all made the trip back a week later, as one of my final meals in AK. So good! To those of you who are looking for real Chinese food, you must check this place out!

SO GOOD! I love this place! The best fried rice I found in Anchorage. My favorite is the large Honey Sesame Chicken, small Fried Rice (with or with out shrimp), and an order of Fried Doughnuts. Sure the place look a little on the shabby side outside but no complaints on the inside. And they deliver if your order is over a certain amount, which I think is $15. The only complaint I have about this place is the amount of time it takes for the food to be delivered. Between 45 mins to an hour. But it is Anchorage and most deliveries take that long and the food is always delivered hot. And they have a very cheap buffet which is good, small but good.

I don't get it. This place got amazing reviews, and we ordered from the Chinese menu just like we were supposed to. But... and I hesitate to say this, because the service was friendly and attentive, and we received fried rice on the house... The food was really unforgivably bad. Almost every dish was swimming in oil, and worse, the dishes were just bland and flavorless. An extreme shock after reading all the 5 star reviews. The only explanation I can think of is that our entire party of three is white. So maybe they ignored the fact that I'd requested the Chinese menu and just gave us the awful "Americanized" version of their food that received a 1-star review elsewhere. But... that really sucks. I asked for the Chinese menu. Shouldn't that request be secret code for "give me good food"? I might be back someday, but not without several Chinese friends...

There were several Veggie friendly options and the person who took the order got it just right. I would order from here again when in town.

We were traveling in Alaska and after several days of sandwich, pizza, burger fare, we seriously missed some steaming hot Chinese cooking (yes, we are Asians!!!). Found this restaurant through yelp iphone app, and it was great! The food was authentic (highly recommend their fish soup), attentive service, and the chef sent us a big plate of tasty fried rice free of charge! The price was a real bargain as well, which is a nice surprise as compared to other restaurants in Alaska. During our 8-day trip, we happily ate there twice! :)

The first thing you start to notice when you're living in Anchorage is the paucity of authentic Chinese cuisine. There's a lot of white-people Chinese food, mostly run by Koreans. I have nothing against white people or Koreans, as long as neither is in any way responsible for the Chinese food I order. Up until now, it seemed that I would simply need to resign myself to this sorry state of affairs. The few Chinese people living in Anchorage I met agreed, saying they rarely ate out, and no one really had anything to tell me. And then, I heard about China Town Restaurant. I'd heard a few people say, in a general way, that there was a place that was ok up in Government Hill, but as it was a bit out of the way I didn't really explore. Finally, a wife of a coworker who happens to be Shanghainese told me about this place. Normally I wouldn't trust a Shanghainese person's taste in food any further than I could throw it (ahem) but I was frankly getting pretty desperate. So I took the drive out. Boy am I glad I did, but at first I was unsure. The place was pretty spartan, which was a good sign. Only forks out on the tables -- hm, that's worrisome. The lady who seated my girlfriend and me was obviously not American, but she didn't address us in Chinese. The menu on the table was completely in English, with a "Korean food" section in Hangul and Japanese -- no Chinese in sight. I was beginning to think I'd been led astray. Then an old man walked in, and the lady who sat us started speaking to him extremely fast in Dongbei dialect. Turns out she's from Liaoning. My jaw nearly dropped open two feet, it had been such a long time since I heard Mandarin that sounded the way it's supposed to. When she came over to take our order I addressed her in Mandarin, and suddenly I knew that everything would be ok. I asked her what was good. She recommended Yuxiangqiezi, a favorite of mine. We ordered that and also a Sichuan hot pork soup, another recommendation. We were not disappointed. It was awesome. I seriously stuffed myself silly, I was almost in tears. It was late in the day and the whole kitchen was out in their aprons, eating noodles and shooting the shit in Chinese. Mainlanders, all of them, but by their accents of scattered origin, all huddled together in the frozen north bringing those of us that left our hearts and stomachs in China a little bit closer to happiness. I'll warn those of you that don't speak Chinese, I haven't any idea if what's on the menu is good or authentic. My suspicion is that Chinese-speakers have an advantage when it comes to selection, which is trivially true in any Chinese restaurant. But if you do happen to be Chinese, and you need some of the food your mama made you, this is the place. This is the only place. Don't listen to the white people who tell you to go to Charlie's Bakery for dim sum, or the folks that say "Sesame chicken at New Sagaya is pretty good for my money." Those people don't know what Chinese food is supposed to taste like, and while they're just trying to be helpful, you'll end up with either a badly microwaved frozen baozi or a cornstarchy-syrupy-sweet mess that not even Panda Express or Mr. Chau would have the audacity to call Chinese food. Suddenly, Anchorage just became an order of magnitude more livable. Now if only they had Chou doufu...

Oh I love this place & their Chinese food. I love the vibe of it, too. Seriously doesn't feel like Anchorage but more like out of town somewhere. Don't be fooled by the atmosphere or the service. The food is worth it. Make sure you order from the Chinese menu which is more traditional than the Americanized version of Chinese food i.e fried chicken covered in red sauce.

Not even worth A star but you can't give minus stars to rate. Others who give this place more than that seriously compromise the credibility of yelp in this city. Pics from others have to be fake ,the tables don't even look the same and the food surely isn't the same. Greasy food lacking flavor with very few vegetables. And YES we did order off both the Chinese menu and the American one. Sadly the best item was the Chinese donuts our daughter asked for, and not something we would normally order.Do people just have no taste buds here or are they relatives of the owners?

I'm lucky this restaurant is walking distance from my house, but not so lucky that they seem plagued by health code violations. Is there something synonymous with yummy chinese food and undesirable working conditions & food prep?? UGH. I was forced to order from Panda the other evening and found the food to be satisfactory, but just not as good as china town - and the portions were surprisingly on the smaller side. I hope China town gets their act together and re-opens in good time. They offer more specialty items like Lazi chicken, spicy eggplant and roasted duck. Their portions are large and the fried food, i.e., sesame chicken and sweet & sour pork is always crispy which tells me they make it fresh and it's not pre-made in masses and sitting under a heat lamp. The chef dinner for 1 could last you 3 days. The mongolian beef is tender and not swimming in too sticky of a sweet sauce. The fried rice is just ok. all in all, the Chinese food here hits the spot for takeout and I enjoy the opportunity to try non-standardized fare.

If I could I would give them a zero. I called and placed my family's order at 5:33 pm. After a long day my husband and I really did not want to cook and wanted to order something to get here at a fairly decent time. At 6:44 pm after our meal still had not arrived I called and was told the driver was on their way. At 7:13 pm the driver showed up with our food that we ordered an HOUR and 40 minutes earlier. We told them we was not paying that price for food that took this long to deliver to a place that is 12 mins away. Our first time ordering from them and it will be our last. I will not recommend them to anyone.

I visited this place a couple of times for their lunch buffets. The food is actually decent and priced fairly for Alaska, but the place itself is run down and nothing to rave about. I decided to order take out right after work since It was on my way home. I walked in and there was a couple sitting in one of the booth enjoying dinner. A young man greeted me and was very polite. However, while he was taking my order a Chinese waitress was in the dining area clipping her fingernails. Then she moved next to the cash register and started clipping away some more. Needless to say, I walked out and will never go back there again. Like I said the food was decent, but if you can clip your nasty fingernails in front of customers I would like to see how they prepare food in the kitchen. I don't expect a lot from a hole in the wall restaurant, however, cleanliness for me is paramount.

I see some people have given them only one star, that's because they really don't have a clue of how to order. My recommendation to those people is, bring a Chinese friend who can read Chinese and ask the server to bring out their Chinese menu. I am an interpreter, every time I bring my non-Chinese friends to this restaurant, they would express sentiments similar to this, "Wow! I never knew authentic Chinese food is really like this!" They are always pleasantly surprised. But I can also see why some people give them one star, because if you are here for the type of food similar to those ordinary Chinese American dishes like you would order from Panda Express, then in that case, there really is nothing special about this restaurant. You are better off at Panda Express and order those typical greasy Chinese American dishes.

Service was great but overall, the food was not anything to write home about. I was hoping for something like the authentic Chinese food that I usually buy in Virginia where you dine in and everything is bustling with fragrant aromas of Asian cuisine but it was not. We walked in and I was immediately impressed by how clean their dining area was. One of the cleanest I've seen. When we ordered, we got our drinks right away. I did order hot tea and had to remind the lovely lady about it before I received it. Our food came a few minutes after but not before experiencing loud arguing in mandarin or cantonese resonating from the back of the house. The waitress had to come by and apologize for the noise. We ordered sweet and sour chicken, general tsaos chicken, egg flour soup and shrimp fried rice. The soup was what arrived first. It was spicy and not at all anything that I remembered as egg flour soup [or egg drop soup in the east coast]. It had carrots and cabbage in it. Usually, I'm used to just the soup having just egg...maybe some corn in it and being full of flavor. This soup was spicy and bland. The shrimp fried rice arrived next. My husband enjoyed that it had a lot of egg in it and the overall eggy flavor but as far as the rice itself, that's all it was. A faint egg flavor despite its color. It didn't taste like anything else and very bland as well. :( My husband's sweet and sour chicken was a winner. I tasted it and it was on point. However, the general tsaos chicken was inedible in the beginning. I put some on my son's plate and I tasted it. It was overly crunchy and I almost couldn't bite into it. A few pieces were like that while the others were reminiscent of alright I guess. I had to take it off of my son's plate and replace it with the sweet and sour chicken. I think I won't be coming back. It was just nothing at all what I expected and I was really disappointed.

I'm typically a fan of hole-in-the-wall places, but China Town was just down right scary. First, walking in is basically like walking through a closet like you're on a jounrey to Narnia, but when you get there you find a primarily windowless room with dirty floors, and odd assortment of tables, chairs, and booths, and an old buffet (currently not in use) in a tucked away nook. The menu was pretty lack luster, especially for a vegetarian. Nothing seemed appetizing on the menu, and looked even less so after the order arrived. This place was sketch-town.

This is the best Chinese food in Anchorage, and some of the best I've had outside Taiwan. The restaurant is not fancy but the food is delicious. Ask for the Chinese menu (it's in English) - that's where the good stuff is. They really should get rid of the regular menu or combine it with the Chinese one since people who don't know about the two menus won't taste the best dishes. Highly recommended! Come on, Government Hill really isn't that far.

As a Chinese American student from the lower 48s that came up to Alaska to see the Northern Lights, this place is a godsend. Real authentic Chinese food is hard to come by in Anchorage and this restaurant is the only place that has it in any redeemable quality. My fellow students really liked the seafood they ordered (lobster and King Crab) and I enjoyed the tofu dishes we custom ordered. I saw a few reviews down below saying that the dishes weren't up to par with the restaurant's reputation. While people are entitled to their opinions, I think it might be more of a misunderstanding than anything else. Some of the dishes have Chinese versions suited for mainlanders that won't fit the tastes of westerners. My recommendation is to ask the waitress to have the cooks make your dish a specific way. It would be no different than going to the steakhouse and ordering a steak medium-rare or well done. I think it would be great if the menus offered by this place had more pictures. That way less confusion will be had and more people will enjoy the food!

3.75. As an asian person, I approve. This is closest to what I can find of what I miss in SF. Order from the Chinese menu. Salt and pepper shrimp. Spicy eggplant. Dumplings. Good shit.

Couldn't even wait! Posting my review at the table! They hade pieces of fried pork that you could add sweet & sour or such to today. I ate them with nothing! They were so good! Quality cuts, very, very yummy! Another shout out for the sautéed green beans too!

Food was okay. I'm from Los Angeles and there is really great Chinese food in LA so my review is based on my experience. I had the house fried rice which wasn't very flavorful. My uncle had the fried noodles which he thought was okay. Unfortunately, we had an unpleasant experience with a waitress who was rude to us and said in Chinese that we were obstructive when we were waiting for our take out. Then, after we sat down to wait for our food, she took away the napkin and spoon that my daughter was playing with. I told the owner about the experience who apologized.

If I could give a zero I would. Horrible, was told by a food critic (former ADN) that this place was great, order off the Chinese Menu she said. So we went. Appetizer of pork, $11.00 12 pieces, I can get from Costco the same over a pound for $5.99 dried out junk. Having lived with a Chinese family for months and them being our family friends this place is a dive I wouldn't throw them a nickel their way ever again! Moo Shu Pork like eating sugar. They served it with some brown sauce that was nothing like Hoisin. I see reviews here that their Peking Duck is great, I wonder if they get their duck from the same place Larry's Cocoon does? Outsourced food? Can't be made in house. Just can't be! Oh the Lazi Chicken - don't even consider it. I wouldn't feed the leftovers to my dogs! I even told them I was expecting some nice sauce or something with this. She replied you tell me how you want it next time. Really? Two pieces of bell pepper and a pile of chicken pieces deep fried or wok'ed in oil with a dusting of corn starch. Cardboard is better! The only thing that was good was the doughnuts. No atmosphere, food horrible, no music, what a dive. RUN! You Tell Me next time how to cook Chinese!!??!! There's no next time for you!

I just tried the chief special / authentic items. No comments for Americanized food. The food is alright but the price is a bit expensive. The portion is moderate as a northern Chinese restaurant. The service is good and yes, they have free WIFI.

I have tried almost every chinese restaurant in Anchorage for take out and this by far the BEST OVERALL!! Nothing overcooked just wonderful worth every penny Its soooo cool to finally have a chinese food place to get perfect to go ;)

Definitely not what the yelp describe it as. The service was poor and the server was trying to fix the menu as she was taking orders. The orange chicken did not have too much orange to it, but was alright. There should definitely be other options for good Chinese food in Anchorage.

The food here is excellent! Ask for the Chinese menu if you want authentic Chinese food. We have been pleased with every dish we've ordered. We saw the roast duck on the menu, that you have to order two or three days in advance, and decided to go for it. When we arrived, our table was set, they were ready for us. A splended roast duck was brought out sliced and beautifully laid out on a bed of cilantro. It had been marinated with seasonings, probably including star anise. It was wonderful! The baby bok choi with Chinese mushrooms we ordered as a side was also beautiful and delicious. China Town restaurant makes really good food! The woman who owns the restaurant is friendly and interested in her customers, and is quite fun to talk to. In spite of being in Government Hill, it's quick and easy to get there. " A" Street will take you all the way there. From South Anchorage take the Seward Hwy to 3rd, then left to A, and on to Govt Hill.

I beg of you- do not do the buffet. Order off the 'other' Chinese menu and taste what they do best. Eggplant, Lazi Chicken, Spicy Pork, tofu and veggies in garlic sauce are solid. Owner is Taiwanese and apparently set up a deal whereby the crews of the China Airlines flights are bussed in for meals and order off of the Chinese language menu. I should say that the Mongolian beef and cream cheese wontons are gooood. The ambience is 70's strip-mall, so take it to go. Definitely worth the drive to Gov't Hill.

I did not have a good experience eating here. The owner and staff were very kind and conversed well, but I did not like the food at all. We ordered the twice cooked pork and some Sichuan style fish. We were told about the more expensive fish options, but I felt like we were steered away from those options. I felt like they were not priced that well, but it may have been better. The ingredients did not taste healthy. They may suit your palate, but I did not like the taste.

It was a surprise for the 4 of us to have the authentic Sichuan food here. The place is clean and the service is welcoming. Not a busy place to be for dinner at this time but the phone was ringing all the time for delivery...

This restaurant seemed ok from the outside, but when you step inside, it smells amazing. The service is great. Also, their food seems to be authentically cooked, I overheard that the chefs are straight from China! So your know you are going to eat some awesome noodles! I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone who is in the Anchorage area.

First let me say that I was vacationing in Anchorage for a week with my husband. We live in North Carolina and frequently eat traditional Chinese food. This place had a good rating and the food was excellent (we ordered off the Chinese Menu). Since we aren't asian, we are usually asked repeatedly if we like spicy food and pork belly before the waitstaff will submit our order. However, I'm removing a star because when we received our bill at the end of the meal, the prices for each of our dishes were higher than stated on the menu ($6 higher). The waitress did not inform us of the price increase, and the owner/manager wouldn't honor the menu price. The cost of food in Anchorage is already higher than we're accustomed, so this unexpected price increase really stung, and left a bad taste.

Good delivery, timing wasn't bad. This was the first time I've ever ordered from them but it was definitely 5/5. I got the Curry Chicken and Beef Lo Mein, and the Curry Chicken was OUT OF THIS WORLD. So good, I couldn't believe it as I don't expect from delivery food. This was truly amazing though. And the Beef Lo Mein was actually really good too, and the rice was in perfect consistency. And none of this food made me feel like garbage afterwards at all surprisingly, as many Asian take out dishes do. I was thoroughly impressed and will definitely order again.

Love their Hunan beef and black pepper chicken! Very friendly staff and delivery is quick but always correct. My only complaint is not enough meat in some of their meals. Overall great place.

I'm not a fan of serving your self places. BUT the food was very good, nobody was watching over me to see how much I put on my plate and I didn't get sick. Those are all important things and reasons I usually don't like serve yourself... The people working there are very nice and friendly and speak very good English it seemed. I would be a regular if I lived in this area and I will be back when I visit. Oh, super inexpensive too!!

I work SO close to here, it was inevitable that I'd come here. It's a simple restaurant; tables, booths and a couple decorations added as an afterthought. You don't come here to entertain, you come here to get a hearty portion of Chinese food. Ordered the honey sesame chicken which was pretty good, though I should've asked for extra veggies. The amount of chicken was enough for 2 meals, and at under $10 a plate, that's a good deal. Seems like a lot of the Elmendorf folks eat here for a quick lunch, as it's right outside the gates.

This place is not a looker on the inside, but that didn't matter because we just got food to go. The food was great. Got the general tso's chicken and sweet and sour pork. I thought this place was really good, particularly when you consider it's Anchorage (a veritable wasteland for good Chinese food). On top of that, we did the lunch buffet and I don't know of anywhere in Anchorage where you can eat a good buffet for $8.50. This is my first time eating here so I don't know if it changes but the buffet contained (from memory): Hot and Sour Soup Won Ton Soup Crab and Cream Cheese Won Tons Egg Rolls Pan Fried Gyoza Chinese Donuts Orange Chicken Sesame Chicken General Tsu's Chicken Mongolian Beef Sweet and Sour Pork Some sort of vegetarian stir fry - Sorry, can't remember exactly what it was Vegetable Lo Mein Fried Rice White Rice I might be forgetting a dish or two...it seems like there might have been another chicken dish. We got there at 11:30 am and were there about an hour. While we were there, they were constantly bringing out small batches of fresh food and everything was fresh and newly cooked the entire time we were there. None of the dishes were what I would call outstanding, but everything was fresh and flavorful and it was certainly worth the $8.50. The Mongolian Beef was probably my favorite, followed by the Lo Mein and Orange Chicken. The Sesame Chicken was a bit soggy -- even when they had just brought it out -- but I find that to be pretty common with that particular dish everywhere. I was fairly surprised at the amount of cream cheese in the Won Tons. The gyoza wasn't spectacular and the egg rolls could have come from any frozen food section but both were plentiful, fresh and filling. The fried rice was OK but the white rice was a sticky, gluey mess. The hot and sour soup was really bland and not nearly as spicy as I've had other places. It's sort of a hole in the wall joint but it appeared clean and the servers were fast and friendly -- altho they did not appear to speak much English -- but that was never a problem. I would definately try it again, despite all the comments from people in my office about the location.

The sesame chicken was amazing as was the crab Rangoon and chicken lo mein! We ordered delivery from our hotel and the food was here very quickly. The delivery driver was very nice. The sweet and sour sauce was a little bit watery in my opinion but the taste was great. We'll worth the money. Only took them 20 minutes between the time we ordered to the time the food was in my hands!

This little restaurant has far exceeded my expectations! I don't think I've had good Chinese food like this in many years.... China Town is AMAZING! Try there family dinners to get a taste of everything. My favorite is the Sweet and Sour Chicken:)

William may not know how to sing but he knows his fried rice. And this is the only authentic Chinese restaurant west of Peking and north of Stewart, B.C. Here is a secret from your Asian bruddha -- when you visit China Town, ask the waitress for the CHINESE menu. Yes, you heard it first, there are TWO menus. The default menu, along with their lunch buffet, is catered towards the American consumer. The Chinese menu, on the other hand, is for red-blooded, authentic Chinese. William's favorites include -- steamed black cod, spicy eggplant, halibut head dofu soup. And they also have the Peking duck -- as flava flav would say, Yeah Boyeee! This fine establishment didn't get the 5 stars due to its pricey items on the Chinese menu. The aforementioned black cod is ~$30 for half a fish. something in the neighborhood of $50 for the whole fish. But this would be a typical price for food of this caliber in large cities such as San Francisco. So, man up, cowboy -- before you badmouth our lovely city lacking good Chinese food, give China Town a try.

We ordered successfully once from China Town. Food was great, but we were told we lived too far away (we are on the East side of Anchorage, about 20 minutes away from the restaurant). It was made clear by the woman on the phone that our order was an inconvenience (she said it would be two hours for our order to arrive because we live so far), but they did it anyway. Our food arrived hot and was tasty. Good sized portions, and fed three of us for 2 1/2 meals. On our second attempt we were told they did not have the time to take our order. Disappointing, but since I'm not really willing to drive out to get it, perhaps we have something in common. I guess I'm just not used to a restaurant turning down orders, especially if they advertise free delivery in the Anchorage area. We went with a closer restaurant in the area tonight who did have time to deliver. I hope they are just as good so we don't have to worry about restaurant-rejection whenever we desire tasty Chinese takeout!
