Italian Cuisine
The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.
Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.
If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
Pizza
Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.
Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.
Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.

Have never given 5 stars but this definitely deserves it! Everything was amazingly delicious. My mom even thought it was the highlight of our whole trip to Yellowstone! Appetizer: Bruschetta Huge dish with a lot of toppings (pesto, tomatoes, garlic aioli, and a whole roasted garlic). Warm crunchy slices of bread. It was a big dish, great to share! Main course: Bolognese rigatoni BEST Bolognese I've EVER had. Wow. So good. My girlfriend thought the sauce was a little strong but I thought it was perfect. Main course: Godfather pizza Baked from their wood oven. Thin crispy crust - true Italian style. Yum! Everything was cooked to perfection. Had two slices leftover, took it home and left it in the car by accident. Was really sad I had to throw it away since it smelled a little off after being in the car in the heat. Dessert: Irish cream cheesecake Good if you like baileys. Fresh whipped cream, didn't taste like it came from a can. Great ending to a perfect meal! We also saw a moose in their garden after trying to find one all day! Wonderful place. A little out of the way from Jackson Hole but it's so worth it!

Very disappointed as this was recommended highly to us. Unfortunately, the wait was very long & some in our party didn't want to wait, so we did not get to eat here. It looked like everyone there was having a great time, though! Parking lot was very crowded, with cars circling the lot until a space opened up for them at the right time. We also were not the only ones to leave due to the very long wait time.

Unbelievably delicious Bruschetta best ever Rigatoni w bolognase ridiculously flavorful Spicy margarita delicious Lasagna 9/10 Reasonable prices Excellent service Couldn't have asked for more

Went here for dinner with 3 other ladies. The decor is beautiful. We sat on the patio overlooking the courtyard, watching all the kids play. They have string lights and fresh flowers hanging. Nice atmosphere. We all ordered something different. I ordered the huckleberry cocktail, Caesar salad, spaghetti and meatballs, and tiramisu. I promise I shared most of these things haha. The cocktail was very good but not enough alcohol for $7.50, didn't even get a buzz and I am very lightweight. The Caesar salad was really good, everyone enjoyed is and the small was a nice portion size for all 4 of us to share. The spaghetti and meatballs was good, but the sauce was watery. And the meatballs weren't anything special. Not worth 18$. The tiramisu was not what I expected. The amount of cognac in it was crazy! It was so strong I could barely eat it. I thought It was funny I could taste the alcohol in that but not my cocktail. I wouldn't let me pregnant friend have a bye that's how strong it was! We also tried the cheesecake and that was very good. I would order that again. The service was friendly and efficient. Probably would go again but order different things. I'd also like to try the bar on the other side of the restaurant. It looked fun.

Ordered: Godfather (?) pizza Truffle mac and cheese Bruschetta Garlic bread All of the appetizers we had were rich and tasty. The bruschetta plate, like many others have mentioned, is worth having for the sheer variety of ingredients on it. Roasted garlic is always a plus. The pizza itself was good, but nothing special. I found that it actually did not hold its form very well, so it was sort of awkward to eat. Most of the time I think I just rolled it up like a fruit rollup and shoved it in my mouth, which was still pretty delicious. The ingredients were all solid, and I especially liked the sauce, but just wished it was more cohesive. Good service that was on top of water refills, which was really appreciated since I was still acclimating to the elevation.

Meh. Amazing bruschetta, good lasagna, weird caprese salad complete with stem left in tomato and an inexplicable sandwich stick. We were sat on the patio with no heaters and nearly froze to death in midsummer. Service close to nonexistant - new servers in a very touristy environment. Marred a corporate outing. Primitive and uncomfortable bench seating.
(2)Rebecca T.
The deck in the summer is the best spot in the valley for groups with kids. Excellent salads with local greens and solid pizza - you can't go wrong, if you can get in. Waitstaff can be harried but, hey, nothing's perfect - except the old Calico Parmesan pizza (which if you ask nicely you might still be able to get!)
(5)Mary R.
The patio was nice and the hanging baskets were very pretty. Unfortunately, the place was huge and the food was mediocre at best. We didn't order pizza so maybe that was better than the other dishes. The cocktail bar offerings weren't well executed so stick to beer or wine. I'm sad we wasted a night out here.
(2)Mike Z.
I always love this place. Simple Italian, laid back atmosphere but very attentive service and friendly staff. I had the Bolognese and I gobbled it all up. My martini was perfect and our waitress had great timing AND a sense of humor. I'm always going back.
(4)David K.
A really nice, casual, classy restaurant in a pretty and quiet location. Basically "fancy grub" fare with great beer drafts and tons of wine (plus full bar). The red Idaho trout is something special and unique. Can't go wrong here!
(5)Christina D.
The service here was great, the wait staff was attentive and nice. The hostess was wonderful in helping me find the gluten free options on the menu. The atmosphere was fine as well. That's why I gave 2 stars rather than 1. The food, however, was a whole different story. My meal was bordering on inedible, there were ingredients missing from my dish (no fresh mozzarella), it was doused with oil and was totally flavorless. Also, they charged an additional $5 for gluten free pasta which is completely outrageous and it was not cooked correctly. Another person in my party ordered the lasagna which was severely over- cooked and was completely inedible. Needless to say you are far better off trying one of the other places in Jackson Hole, there are plenty of other options.

We stopped here to celebrate my wife's birthday. We chose it because it seemed like a popular restaurant that would make for a good celebration. When we were looking thru the menu, we asked if we could order the God Father pizza with out prosciutto. Their answer? No, the pizzas are prepped in advance. To have pizzas made in advance at an Italian restaurant should have been a warning sign to us to leave! But no, we stayed and ordered our entrees only to be disgusted at what we found. On my wife's second bite of her entree, we were disgusted to discover a long hair in her dish. When we brought it to the servers attention, she was in shock to see the hair comming out from under tha pasta and went to tell the chefs. As she was talking to the chef, we could see both chefs laughing! Really, our waitress brought up a serious sanitary issue and they just laugh at her? It made us question how seriously they take food safety! So, we asked to speak to the manager and after a 5 minute wait she arrived with an indifferent attitude. When we explained our concern of the hair in our food and how the chefs laughed at this issue she said "I heard about it," as if it was kitchen gossip. I guess instead of her addressing the issue, she just ignored it and instead of proactively comming to us, we had to call for her to voice our concern. During the time we were telling her of the issue, we felt she was rushing us and kept on saying "what else can I do, do you want an appetizer"? As we explained to her, we didn't want to eat anything from the kitchen, we just want her to listen to our concern. At one point she said, "ive done all I can do, what do you want?" We don't want anything, we just want you to address the issue with your staff. In the end we didn't feel like our issue was being taken seriously so we left and went to the Gun and Barrel, which we would recommend with great service and clean hair free food!

Service was bad and my angel hair spaghetti tasted like gas. I did give it two stars for the children's play area on the grass.

Coming from the VIP section of New York City on a road trip to a Wyoming visit, and comparing to the rest of the WY area I can safely say this is a 5-star quality Italian restaurant. Every meal is perfectly crafted from the fresh-from-the-garden herbs and spices, to the sauces used, and the pasta and pizza selections. The Bruschetta appetizer is a gem, and then afterwards try the Grilled Chicken Fettuccini and the Eggplant Parmesan...they are to die for! Wash it all down with a Spicy Margarita...mmmm.

I have never ever had larger pours from a bartender than I had here. The drinks aren't that much more expensive than they would be elsewhere, either. People kept buying me Long Islands like I was some sort of alcohol disposal machine. I met Tommy Moe here, he offered me a job at his lodge in Alaska but was too drunk to remember it the next day. I was barely able to remember it myself.

Calico is one of the more popular spots in Jackson for families. Their giant parking lot is full. It seems like everyone in town is coming here. In the summertime their lawn is a great spot for kids to run around after dinner playing soccer, frisbee and tag. But at Calico, they let you know they are running a complex operation with many moving parts and its clearly stressing out their staff, who we found to be of the "strained-pleasant" variety, visibly gritting through their teeth when we realized the picnic table they sat us at was not the right size for our party of seven. They seemed not to notice when they seated us, even though a similarly sized party next to us had required a second table. We are a tall family, but athletic and we barely fit. Meanwhile, we stretched, strained and contorted ourselves to try to make it work, which of coarse it didn't. Should have been an easy fix, but these proved challenging logistics, or the hostess must have mistakenly thought we had asked her to give us one of her kidneys. With disdain, she folded her arms, debated our request, and then finally asked that we take a seat and get out of the way, so that they could "figure it out." I think she must have gone to the other room and breathed very deeply into a paper bag at her misfortune at having such difficult customers. She seemed so stressed out, we almost felt bad asking to be removed from our table corset. Foodwise, some dishes were okay, others less so. Our best order was the 16" cheese pizza for the kids, which had a nice crisp wood-fired crust. The lasagna was just okay. The rest was a miss. A $22 pasta dish we ordered: pasta, dry chicken breast, heavy garlic and tomato. The garlic bread was a small order, overcooked and dry. The grilled steak was a gristly cut served room temperature with swaths of inedible chewy bits. Timing was off in the kitchen, further confirmed by the arrival of orders of grilled asparagus and broccoll as starters, thirty minutes before our mains arrived. A plate of steamed broccoli as a starter? Hmm. No, these were sides and supposed to come with our meal. Sigh. Oh well, let's just eat it now. This is when we started to smile-grit our teeth too. A nice spot with outdoor charm and setting, but disorganized service. They are popular and busy, but not managing their stress well at the front of house.

Food was good. Staff was friendly & accommodating. Well worth a try if you are in the area. While they have a full menu, they will also do some "off the menu" request as well. You can "Dine In" or take some food to go.
(4)Patrick L.
Looking for some pizza for a quick to go order, and they did it. Good variety of pizza combinations and very tasty.
(4)Steve B.
Back again after enjoying our meal so much last year. The meal was once again delicious and although we stuck with pizza and salads this time around, everything was tasty and served very well. Being from NY originally makes me somewhat of a pizza snob and the crust here is less crisp than we might ordinarily enjoy. That said, it was really tasty and we devoured both pies. We'll be back again next year!
(4)Nicholas C.
You want good food, come here. Staff is wonderful, service is even better and the price is perfect. Come see for yourself, this site gets you out of the busy town.

Usually a place that averages 4 stars on yelp is sure to please. Not sure if everyone is high or is friends with the owner, but this isn't even close to a 4 star place! Usually even bad pizza is still pretty good, I mean it's pizza right?! Not this pizza, I would say it is the worst I have ever had. Worse than Chuck E Cheese's pizza or hell even a frozen Red Baron would have been preferable to this. The crust was soggy almost all the way through. We asked for it to be put back in the oven to crisp up, we were hopeful this would improve the pizza. The edges were crispier, but the rest was still a soggy, oily mess. The toppings obviously all canned and piled on so high. Hardly any cheese and the toppings were not melted into the pizza. So, they all just fell off before you got them off the pan and then again before you got them into your mouth. So, mostly we were left with oily crust and a plate full of toppings. It was very bizzare. My boyfriend and I should be able to kill a small pizza no problem between the two of us, we couldn't get through half of it and we were starving. This was by far the worst meal we had in Jackson or anywhere in a long time. The salads were edible, but not great. My boyfriend had a canned beet salad, you could see the can ribbings on the beets. And I had an edible Caesar salad, again not great but I was able to eat the salad. We both had upset stomachs after the meal and into the next am. Save yourself and go anywhere but here.

A wonderful place. Food was good. I was there on an unusually crowded and busy night and my food was late and not prepared correctly. They orrected things and comped my dinner without any question. Really a nice staff and management is customer service oriented.
(4)Audrey T.
This place is right outside of Teton Village. They have a phenomenal wine list that is well priced. Their bread is delicous-crusty on the outside and chewy on the inside. Kick it up a notch by ordering the garlic bread. We had the chicken linguini, steelhead trout and the bolognese. Everything was delicious! If you do order anything get the chocolate cake. It's like birthday
(4)John D.
It was OK . The wait staff was friendly and helpful . It is one of the few places open later on the way back from the Grand Tetons. I will say the bread was great but the pasta dishes were average. I was kicking myself as the pizza that went by looked fantastic.
(3)SJ W.
Great menue & food. Staff 1st rate. Casey (server) made our evening !! A Must do in Jackson Hole /Teton Village area
(4)Kristina K.
Such a good place! Every dish we had was delish-from appetizer to dessert! I highly recommend eating here. The atmosphere was also very lovely!
(5)Jenny R.
I'm a local who LOVED LOVED the Old Calico. After it sold years back it just wasn't the same prices were up and the food was just okay. It has been about three years since I had been to Calico last Wednesday a big group of us went for girls night out. I have to say my food was FABULOUS. I shared the calamari , it was tender crispy just perfect. I had the scallops and shrimp pasta. I almost didn't order it because it was a bit pricey and I was thinking great seafood this far away from the sea. I'm so glad I did the scallops were the best I've EVER eaten which says a lot as scallops are on my top five favorite foods. He food was worth every penny. Our server was awesome he handled his large group very well. I'll be back soon.
(5)Patty M.
We always have at least one meal here when in Jackson and have not been disappointed. The bar menu is smaller and if there early get some specials. The dining room is delicious with a broad variety on the menu.
(5)Bruce E.
I give this place a 2 for the surroundings. The chicken parm was awful. Dry and the coating was burnt. I should have sent it back. The marinara sauce tasted canned. Really!?? Way over priced! Rather had anything from an Olive Garden!
(2)Nicole O.
Great place! 1. yummy food 2. good wine list, reasonably priced 3. Best waitress, Katie :) We will have to come back on our next visit
(5)Julie B.
Calico is not the locals's favorite by accident. It has a trusted, relaxed atmosphere that is super family friendly. Especially during summer when we can ride our bike there and the kids can play outside in the huge play area. Flowers and gardens are amazing too...Is it summer yet?! As far as the food goes, I love the halibut, the hearts of palm salad and the Tom's Bomber pizza. All top notch!
(5)B G.
Recently visited the Jackson Hole area. This as my favorite restaurant outing. I had the eggplant portabello and my husband had the lasagna. His was huge and I could have stood a bit more of mine. So delicious. We both loved, loved our meal. The ambiance was great we as sat on the porch. Fun to watch the kiddos play on the adjacent lawn.
(5)Suzie B.
We had a great dinner here. Sat out on patio on a warm night, enjoyed drinks and good Italian food, and watched the kids play on the grass field next to patio. Found this restaurant on Yelp, and decided to check it out. The setting reminded us of Napa (in the summer). Good salads, pizza and pasta. The BBQ place next door looks good too, will try next time.
(4)K G.
This place is amazing! The food is fresh and delicious. We both ordered the special. I was really thrilled that it was not a huge serving, it was a good size with only a little left over. Two weeks later I still am thinking about how amazing this was!!!
(5)Chuck J.
Calico used to be THE place to hang out, shoot some pool, and drink some dark beer back when microbrewing was a hobby, not a marketing gimmick. I spent hours in that place, but this isn't that place. The food still seems to be good, but the prices are insane--even by JH standards, and the atmosphere has definitely turned towards the high-falutin' side of things. Of course, now that a Subaru wagon prices out on the fat side of $30K, this is to be expected. The dude on the front page of the web site cracks me up--a country club type with a Polo shirt and girly italian sandals. I guess you've got to have cloth napkins and citrus encrusted (say what?) halibut to make him happy. But they did make him happy--and I was happy with the Tom's and Dean's we called over to our table for old time's sake. The pizza, the bruschetta, and the scallops (I know, I know) where delicious but a pair of appetizers, two pizzas and a couple beers each plus the tip knocked us over a hundred bucks. That's two days wages for a lot of JH hands. Visiting Calico reminded me how it broke my heart to leave that beautiful, perfect valley, but I also realized it would have broken my heart to stay and watch the money grubbers squeeze the last bit of down to earth joy from the place. You can't go home again, and I shan't go back to Calico again either. At least they can't upscale the peaks.
(4)Tim B.
We visited Calico when I was with a group photographing Grand Teton and Yellowstone areas in 2007. Calico was busy (usually a good sign) but the wait was short, the staff was great and the food wonderfully tasty and filling as Italian food should be! The pizzas had good amount of toppings (some well chosen unusual ones too) and cheese, just right crust and were HOT when they arrived at the table. The pasta one of the group had was judged excellent too! We had a great time and will certainly stop in again when we're shooting the area!
(4)Deb G.
Our B&B host recommended this restaurant and it was delicious! This is a cozy establishment with beautiful grounds. It's a nice get-a-way from the town center of Jackson on the road to Teton Village. For an appetizer, we had the lemon crab cakes with fennel, which were very good. Entrees were spaghetti with marinara and meatballs and lasagna, both of which had robust flavors. The meatballs are very tender and have a spicy, peppery taste (yum!). The wait staff were nice and attentive. They have a lovely menu, but be careful, some items are really over-priced, such as the fish. However, we were looking for traditional Italian dishes and found it. I would recommend this restaurant and return for more.
(4)Patrick W.
Calico is a great pizza and pasta restaurant located in between Jackson and Teton Village. We typically sit in the bar area and always get great service, cold beer and excellent pizza. For starters, the bruschetta is great with roasted garlic, chopped tomatoes and basil, and fresh pesto. They carry a great beer selection, featuring local Snake River brew, as well as nightly drink specials. The pizza is top notch and we enjoy the BBQ chicken and the plain ol' cheese. Do not believe Nick D, he is crazier than a shit house rat. Go to Calico, you will not be disappointed.
(4)Wendell M.
Great Italian food. Can get crowded with the expected service lag, but the food was wonderful. Chef has innovative cuisine. Vegetarian friendly. Recent meal: gnocchi appetizer (tasted homemade and nearly perfect), my wife had roasted eggplant lasagna (good variety of flavors, cooked to perfection), I had wild mushroom ravioli that was well seasoned and delicious.
(5)Debbie H.
This had been one of our favorite places to eat in the Jackson area. But on this last visit, we were seated in the extreme outside corner next to the kitchen. Almost every table was empty inside and out. We were dressed casually after work, but sheesh. It made me feel insecure. Fortunately, our waiter was engaging and prompt and the food was as good as usual.
(3)Albert B.
Nick d don't know the hole. This place gas been in the same location for YEARS. No hotel no $40 pies. Great spicy margarita. Brechetta and caprisi fresh herbs from a on sight garden
(4)Austin S.
Calico provides a charming, elegant, and relaxed atmosphere as well as delicious food. If you are looking for five star Italian dining, book tickets for Milan or New York instead of Jackson Hole. If you want to have a nice dinner on your western vacation, go to Calico.
(5)Mark P.
We were in Jackson for Lotoja and used YELP to locate an Italian Restaurant. Wow, what a great find. The food was incredible, service was great, and the atmosphere was comfortable. The only complaint is that because we didn't have a reservation and they were SO busy, we sat outside on the deck. This in itself wasn't so bad, but by nightfall it began getting a bit cold and our food cooled off a lot faster. We would still recommend this restaurant.
(5)Geraldine L.
This is Italian the American way...
(1)Katrina A.
On a visit from Northern California, we found Calico's on Yelp and decided to give it a try. What a fantastic place! The staff was great and the food was really, really good. We had calimari, lasagna and seafood pasta and we were not disappointed. The atmosphere was very comfortable and family friendly. We will definitely be back!
(5)Knittycats L.
Superior service. Gnocchi appetizer with roasted tomatoes the Best ever. Pastas were great. Good wine list with reasonably priced selections
(4)Jim A.
We live part time just down the road and had avoided the place because it looked like a place where buses unloaded senior citizens for a $6.99 special. We were wrong. The place serves good food and a great atmosphere with outside seating. We will be back it's a great place for anyone
(4)Bill S.
Wife and I visited Calico on Sunday, Jun 24. Food was excellent. Service was horrible. Management seemed clueless on how to balance work stations for servers. Also, kitchen became overwhelmed because "too many people ordered linguini with chicken" and they couldn't handle it. For comparison, a couple was seated in the booth next to us after we had been seated for 10 minutes. Their server brought them bread and water and took their order within 5 - 7 minutes. They received their meal and finished their dinner and left the restaurant as we were just starting on our entrees. As I watched the other servers in the restaurant, our waiter was the only one I saw running from the bar, the kitchen and to other tables. It was a first and last experience for us. Yes, excellent food is critical but if your customers are in the restaurant for over 90 minutes, the taste of the food becomes tarnished.
(2)Danielle A.
When staying at the four seasons up in Teton village it's impossible to get pizza up there on busy days, so we picked up a pizza to go. I hope to get back some day to eat there. They have an open patio and they also have a bar area where you can watch games. When I walked in to pick up the pizza it smelled so delicious. The pizza was great with the perfect portion of toppings, etc. Best of all it had a slightly crisp crust and was not sitting in grease like most take-out pizzas, even though it was hand tossed. I saw on another review their pizza is overpriced and I have to say it was reasonable for the quality and was ~$18 for a supreme style.
(4)Anthony D.
The pizza here was good, but what really makes the place is the large lawn attached to the restaurant (shared by the Q Roadhouse) for families to play on. We dined late, so got an inside table. Kids menu with crayons was briefly entertaining. Pizza was good, as was the service.
(4)Raegen S.
i like the bistro... the yard out in the summer is awesome to watch the kids play and see them do gunny stuff... the food is pretty good... i normally stick to pissa and salad but they have other itilan things to eat as well... it is kinda out of the way if you are staying in Jackson but if you are in Wilson or the Village it is perfect...
(4)Nick D.
The Calico used to be where I'd stop after a week or two in the Tetons to grab a great beer and pizza. Now it's a 4-star hotel and the pizza is way too expensive! I'm talking $40 a pie! What the heck? Anyways, if you're looking to impress a friend or whatever then go here, but be prepared to join the rest of the pretentious locals and drop some serious coinage.
