The Landmark Bar is very special to me, and my family. My grandfather, with his brother's, had owned this bar for most of my life. It's a true western bar, with grit. A place with a long standing history. Were the blue ribbon is on draft, and patrons blow through like tumble weeds. At one time Wheatland had an ordnance placed restrictions on where alcohol could be purchased. You couldn't walk into the Safeway and pickup a 6 pack. You had to go to one of the Bars/liquor stores in town. I am assuming because of the horrid winter storms, most package liquor stores added drive-thru windows so people would have to get out of their cars. Tending bar one summer, a bar patron asked me if I would go over to the store and get some spices for him...I did. I came back and asked what they were for? "For the pig roasting in the back of my truck." Sure enough, a full sized pig was being smoked in the back of his Chevy...invention at it's finest. I am not sure whom the current owners are, but I wish them the best. The Landmark will always be 5 stars in my book.
