This food is fantastic. We ordered take out and were shocked by how delicious it was! Our two year old devoured the rice with peanut sauce, and the muffeletta sandwich and spanakopita were so tasty. Do not hesitate to go there, you won't regret it!

We tried this amazing restaurant for the first time tonight. We all ordered something different and tried each other's. Everything was incredible, totally full of flavor. My brother only ever eats meat and told the waitress his meal "was amazing". We had excellent service and want to eat there every day! Thank you guys! We will be back.

My vegetarian friends turned me on to this place. I went, thinking it would be so-so because many Vegan friendly place are - but I was totally wrong. The food: The food was amazing. I could smell all the spices from outside the door. It cooked quickly and well. Everything was fresh, and you could tell. They are very accommodating. Some products have milk and eggs, but are labeled and almost everything can be made Vegan for those who like Vegan. The style of cooking is Middle Eastern and Mediterranean, which is no surprise considering many dishes from those areas are Vegetarian and Vegan because of types of food throughout time they had available to them. Every day they have a different hummus to try, Thursday was white bean and cashew. The pita bread was made in house, so was the pastry dough. I ordered the $12.50 sampler appetizer first. It came in two plates, a small one with fresh cucumber yogurt dip, and warm pita bread. The second super large with traditional handmade hummus and the hummus of the day. It had fresh veggies (cucumbers, tomatoes), pickled imported purple olives, a fresh Greek salad with feta, two Falafels, and Eggplant olive caponata. For an extra $3.50 each I added two pastry turnovers filled with spinach and feta, a traditional Greek Easter dish (which the name of I can't spell :) ) It was so big I took most of it home. My life partner got a Lasagna with multiple cheeses, noodles, and egg plant. I got the Leek and Gorgonzola three cheese mac and cheese with baked house bread crumbs onto and organic whole wheat toasts. Each $10.50 and bigger than my head. The price for the size of the meals is so reasonable it hurts. Service: the service is super friendly, since it is a small place they can keep tabs on everyone and their drinks - so no waiting or flagging people down. The only down side is the bathroom. The bathroom is in the pub next door, and unless you look at the restroom sign closely and realize it is pointing around the corner instead of down the hallway the sign is hanging on, you'll follow that hallway out into the alley.

Super delicious vegetarian comfort food! My sister, a vegetarian, was stoked to find out when she moved to Laramie for grad school that they not had a vegetarian restaurant - it's the highest rated restaurant on Yelp in town! It totally earned every single rave review! I'm in town for the Labor Day weekend and of course wanted to check it out! We headed over after a beer at the Friday Farmers Market, and started with the cashew queso - major yum! I've never tried vegan cheese before, but the flavor of the dip is so fantastic that you forget that it's totally animal product free! For our main course we tried the special of the day - butternut squash & tofu curry, and the feta, walnut, & grape pasta (a one time special that earned itself a spot on the menu!). Both dishes were super duper flavorful, we enjoyed too much of the queso, so we will be enjoying them for lunch tomorrow as well - shucks! The atmosphere of the entire restaurant is super warm and inviting, as are the host and waitresses. The fragrant garlic aroma wafting out of the kitchen is simply divine! Looking forward to stopping thru on my next trip to Laramie!

While not opposed to vegetarian dishes, I wasn't super excited when a local took us here for dinner. WAS I EVER WRONG. Vegetarian or not, the food is REALLY YUMMY. I had the grilled cheese and a Sazerac and was a happy camper. Wonderful ingredients, great VARIETY and cool drink options. I could eat there once a day for a week and still want to try other items. I'm a stickler for service. The restaurant was really busy and the service was a bit slow, but I still give them 5 stars. Why? - the waitress was friendly, knowledgeable and working her tail off - the owner came to check on us (she was working hard too) - the food and drinks were all terrific. Bottom Line: they delivered "the goods" even when the restaurant was packed:) PS - check my other reviews for the good and not-so-good in Laramie

My wife and I are from California, and have eaten at a lot of vegetarian restaurants. This is one of the best we have ever experienced! Great service too.

We really wanted to like this place. Unfortunately, after we sat down and ordered we heard nothing more from our waiter for 35 minutes until I called him over to ask about the food. He then apologized and brought us some complimentary chips, but the food still took 15 minutes more to come (I think he forgot to place the order). My farmer's sandwich was dry and pretty skimpy on the avocado and my boyfriend's falafel was mediocre. The sweet potatoes were fine as a side, but the side of vegan chili was probably the best thing we got. After we finished eating we had to wait ten more minutes before I had to flag the waiter to get the check. Overall a disappointing experience.

Being in a dairy free regimen makes hard to pick good desserts but I really enjoy their vegan chocolate cake.Service is very nice but they should change their menu more often.Definitely pricy for a complete meal.

Been there few times. Just pricy and nothing special. Unless you have a vegan or vegetarian friends , try to avoid it.

Fantastic!!!! The food is prepared well and tastes heavenly. The service is fast and friendly. The prices are perfect for any budget. The restaurant is located in the charming historic downtown section of Laramie. This restaurant was so GOOD that we are looking for a reason to hang around Laramie. I would have given a five star rating except it is not organic.

Super cute restaurant in Laramie that caters to the under served vegetarian population in Wyoming. The service was great and the menu had so many different options (grilled cheese to black bean burritos to many kinds of lasagna). The vegan cashew cheese and chips were delicious and I would order them again and again...and again. I had a sandwich with hummus and veggies and green apple with diced sweet potatoes on the side. In-credable! Wish this restaurant was closer to me. It was also in a cute shopping area!

  • Scott T.

Loved the hummus and pita appetizer. I had the portobello Reuben sandwich and it was good. I wish I had ordered a different side as the garlic potatoes were having a bad day and were dry. The fact that this place shares a wall and a few doorways with the pub next door meant I could order a refreshing Snake River Pilsner right from my table. All in all a pretty cool place to grab lunch or hang out with friends.

Very yummy even though we aren't vegetarian and love our meats! Great service!!! Cute atmosphere!!! Would return for sure!

YOU NEED TO GO HERE! It's my favorite restaurant in Laramie and I'm not vegetarian. Try the portabello nachos and you won't be disappointed! I've actually never had a bad meal here, and I've tried *most* of the menu. Favorites are the nachos, enchiladas roja, and the Greek plate with hummus and falafel. The bar is also an awesome place to grab a drink...great atmosphere.

I agree wholeheartedly with all the other positive reviews of this gem of a restaurant. The food, service, and ambiance are spot on. As a vegetarian and meat craving pregnant duo traveling across the country, it's a tricky time to dine together in harmony. However, in a gesture of gratitude for driving 10 plus hours while she napped, the pregnant party in the duo Yelped out Sweet Melissa's for her betrothed vegetarian. It was delicious! The queso dip was luscious and flavorful--the chips were warmed for a going the extra mile touch. Full disclosure: the craving of this pregnancy has been Rueben Sandwiches, and it's the sauerkraut I really want. The Portabella Ruben was the best: loaded with sauerkraut, sauce served on the side as not to soggy the thick toasted marbled rye bread and grilled mushrooms. The portion was so hearty I could only eat half. Perfection! My husbands sautéed leek and Gorgonzola veggie burger had the same traits as the other food we ordered--generously portioned and obviously well tested to provide the right balance of cheese, leeks, burger, fixings, and bun. How reassuring that not only is there a place to get vegetarian/vegan food in Laramie, WY but that they are serving real, really good food. Additionally, they are elevating favorites and anyone who loves food will sure find something to delight them on Sweet Melissa's menu.

The concept of a vegetarian restaurant just doesn't strike me as exciting - I'm a shameless carnivore. This place, though, knows how to make a meal out of vegetable based dished. Everything i've had has been great: cauliflower sandwich, roasted cauliflower, mac & cheese, lasagna, spanakopita (my least favorite; swapped it with a friend for her sandwich), stir fry. Appetizers are good, but the desserts are GREAT. And, of course, the drinks next door from Front St cannot be beat. They are the best handmade craft cocktails I've found (beating out the overpriced trendy places I used to drink at in NYC). If you're waffling about going to a vegetarian place, don't worry - the food here is legit. Minus one star for cramped seating and frequently running out of specials, desserts, etc. Check the board and "reserve" a dessert when you place your order. Also, the service is just slammed due to the demand. Running back and forth between the bar and the restaurant surely isn't easy - and it shows with the harried servers doing their best.

An amazing selection of delicious vegetarian and vegan dishes. We finished eating there and immediately wanted to come back for another meal. Our current plan is to work our way through the entire menu without repeating anything because it all looked so good!

This place is amazing! Great variety and they can make just about everything on the menu vegan! Try the cashew queso in place of real cheese!

2nd visit here - flavors were wonderful again, but the portions were lacking tremendously. * add more rice to your dishes that call for it, it's dirt cheep for you guys and leaves your customers full and satisfied thus them wanting to come back for more. * work on better sizing for sides. If you don't want a side the menu states to just subtract a dollar to the overall price of the menu item (that gives you the option for sides) but if you order a side by itself your charged $3.00 and you receive the exact same $1.00 portion, which by the way is the same size as the sugar bowl that's on your table :/ ..... ya. I see this all the time - especially with vegetarian/vegan places. I can understand small portions with everything else (because hopefully they're using organic, non gmo, quality ingredients) but places need to step it up with the carbohydrates (rice, potatoes, etc.) "your cheap staple foods"

As a vegan visiting Laramie, I was thrilled to find Sweet Melissa's when I was hungry for lunch. The African Peanut Soup was out of this world delicious. I also ordered a vegan ruben sandwich made with portobello mushrooms and the cashew cheese. The thickly sliced dark rye bread and flavors were great, but overall the sandwich was a little greasier than I would have liked. Looks like a great place for a veggie burger and a beer next time I'm in town.

Dillon has the softest lips of any man or woman in the west. Great drinks, service and atmosphere. The vegan food (apparently this means no mammal flesh) is really good. The Mac-n-cheese is smokey and tasty. For drinks try a Basil Mojito or two or three, finish off with a Schlitz and you are ready to tag one of the passing trains.

Another fantastic find using the app called Find Me Gluten Free, my wife has celiac and we have a difficult time finding restaurants while we are on the road. This was our second stop for food driving back from Yellowstone National Park to Kansas City. Plus, this was our stop for the evening in Laramie Wyoming using the airBnB app. I am NOT a vegetarian any longer, but I was for 7 years. I do not typically like vegetarian restaurants, but I really, really enjoyed this place to eat dinner. First, I have to paint the picture for you. We had been driving all day long. After stopping in Lander, Wyoming for brunch we decided to drive on straight through to Laramie Wyoming. Hours later we rolled into town and decided to go check this place out. We did not know this was a vegetarian restaurant, so my first reaction was to look at my wife and say, "are you serious? Vegetarian?" She told me, 'we didn't have to eat there', she told me, 'let's go find a steak somewhere'. But I was so tired and so hungry I told her, "you know what, its okay, really, its okay, let's just eat, I am starving." We walked in and we're greeted by a very pleasant gentleman wearing a pork pie cap. He was bearded and looked as hipster as a hipster could be hip. He was also extremely friendly, and sat us down at a booth several minutes later after they had cleared the previous gentleman's dishes away. Second, they had a very excellent beer selection. Plus a full bar! I was stoked! I ordered an Extra IPA that was on their rotating taps, which was fantastic on my tongue after 7 hours of driving. Third, the food was delicious! I ordered the sweet potato and black bean burrito with cashew cheese, which came with an amazingly flavored vegetarian salsa that was warm and surrounded this enormous burrito on the plate. She ordered some sort of southwestern salad that had corn chips on it, the one problem was the corn chips were soggy after a few minutes of being on the succulent salad. The other disappointment was the kids meal which was a quesadilla which was quite small and served with a single pineapple ring, which was not nearly enough food for my 6 year old son. Luckily he followed that up with a slice of pineapple upside down cake which he devoured. If not for the soggy chips on the salad and the tiny kid meal portions, I'd have given this place 5 stars. My burrito was a 5 star affair, I loved it! We try to do a vegetarian meal once a week, but usually it's more like once a month, if ever. If I had access to vegetarian cuisine this excellent in Kansas City it could very well change my mind on eating vegetarian food out more often. Well done Sweet Melissa's, you are definitely on our list to stop back when we go to Yellowstone next year. One side note, the town of Laramie, Wyoming is absolutely charming. If you have a chance please stay at Melanie's bungalow room on Airbnb, you will not regret it.

I almost walked right back out because the inside of this place looked really dark and run down. But I only had an hour for lunch so I decided to give it a shot anyway. The cooking turned out to be good after all. Lots of flavors of lemonade, good chili, tasty sandwich. They would do better if they did not give such a bad first impression.

I'm the furthest thing from a vegetarian/vegan, but I still have enjoyed the meals I've has at Sweet Melissa. The atmosphere at the restaurant and at Front Street next door are a breath of fresh air in Laramie. I love the lasagna!!!!!

  • Dawn E.

This is a culinary foodie heaven in the middle of my least favorite state. Vegetarian, really? I came here twice when traveling through..it was THAT good. I had a big falafel gyro full of yum, and cashew queso dip you can lick the bowl, and a peanut butter chocolate pie that an Iron Chef could make so delicious. I want to try everything. Service is great, flavors are off the charts. Damn, I hate Wyoming, but I would conquer the wind and snow to eat here again.

There is something new or familiar you will love here. I am generally road weary by the time I get to stop here when passing through & Sweet Melissa's is a comfy, savory haven. I do not get the chance to try other venues because I cannot pass this one up. Great space/ location, awesome staff, yummy inventive food & a full bar!

This place is pretty great! I am not a vegan, but the food is still really good, especially the desserts.

When my wife suggested a vegetarian restaurant in Wyoming I had to laugh figuring the closest thing would be the side salad served with a steak. But then we walked into Sweet Melissa's in Laramie. The placed was packed, and once I got a look at the menu, I knew this was a special place. Service was friendly, great variety of vegan/vegetarian options, and all our food was tasty. The serving sizes were large and well worth the price.

We loved this cute little veggie place. Awesome service and tons of delicious options. Loved it even though I'm not a veggie!

This was surprising to see a vegan restaurant in Laramie, but after one bite of the food, I understood. The flavors are bold and unique. The food is extraordinary! I can't wait to go back and try everything on the menu. The service was wonderful. My only regret is I didn't try the vegan chocolate cake, but I was just too full. Next time.

  • Gabriela G.

Don't be fooled! Just cause its vegetarian/vegan- by no means is it healthy! But it IS delicious! Lots of cheese filled meals, mexican inspired. I ordered a salad with dressing on the side- though it was not chopped in the most refined way and the portions and proportions of sizes of ingredients on my plate was a bit odd, all of it combined was quite tasty! Dessert was a spongy and hearty carrot cake and wait for it.....the deep fried banana bread!- best part of the meal! don't expect to lose weight if you eat here, but def. expect a good time! Servers were friendly, decor was cutesy and booths were fun for a group of friends, though romantic dates to Sweet Melissa's might be cool as well. Prices are fair. Parking is free.

Great atmosphere and wonderful menu! So many options. Would recommend the smothered sweet potato and black bean burrito. Service was prompt and courteous. Also if you stop here I recommend trying the basil mojito, it sounds different but trust me it is tasty and refreshing.

Sweet Melissa's is a great place to order a cocktail. The food, however, is mostly microwaved & I often times hear people say how it made them sick. Again, great drinks, not so great food.

This place has the best vibe, food I've tried in Laramie so far. I got a couple beers and a plate of nachos that were just delicious.

Excellent and original food! I'm not a vegetarian so I didn't expect much (I went with friend's who selected the restaurant.) carnivores and connoisseurs will appreciate this vegetarian menu. Everything I've had was superb: falafel sliders, cheese ravioli with chipotle raspberry sauce are my recommendation.

Stumbled on this place while on a road trip to Salt Lake City. We wanted something inexpensive and light, meaning I wanted a salad and my dad wanted a burger of some sort. I somehow managed to trick him into eating at a vegetarian cafe, but he was not disappointed. The food is a lot of bang for your buck and there are plenty of options for the picky eater or diverse group. I had chili and the fatoush salad. The chili is a little more soupy than I am used to but had a nice kick and lots of beans. The salad was flavorful and filling, even though I only had a small. My dad had he veggie lasagna and loved it, despite being a "where's the beef?!" Kind of guy. The service was SUPERB.

I love this place. Everything I've ever had here was amazing. The lentil loaf and the falafel pita are my favorite entrees, but it's the desserts that really stand out here. The vegan chocolate cake is seriously to die for, and the fried banana bread is just as awesome. Don't skip dessert, and don't miss this place!

My mom said that if we could give this place 82 stars, we would. We're traveling cross country from Chicago to California and all of the restaurants through South Dakota and Nevada were of the biscuit, gravy, and bacon variety. As a gluten free, dairy free, egg free eater due to food allergies, trying to eat was kind of a nightmare. After 10 hours of driving, YAY SWEET MELISSA's! My saving grace. They had lots of options within my restrictions and their vegan ranch dressing is to die for. I haven't had ranch in years, and now I can again! Huzzah! Griffin was super awesome and even kept the restaurant open for us, because they were close to closing when I called from the car. Also we were able to meet the "Melissa"of Sweet Melissa's which was pretty awesome! The food is delicious and so healthy. Lord knows I needed some leafy greens after the midwest travels!

Excellent, local, and delicious. I was driving through the state and found Sweet Melissa's on Yelp. I was excited to try a new eatery as I was driving through the state. The food was pure and simple, delicious, I enjoyed the mixed crowd eating there. I asked a guy/girl what they recommend, and they were both very nice. I ordered a Black Bean burrito, It was terrific ;the server was good the building was great, historic old west. A wonderful experience.

I don't to eat here often as hubby thinks that no meat will kill him even once but when I have lunch by myself, this is the place where I go. Their artichoke dip is the BEST! It comes with fresh bread and veggies and is super filling for one person even when I don't eat the bread. Service has always been great and I can't wait till my next visit!

  • Pinita M.

Although I'm a fan because it's hard to find vegetarian/vegan in Wyoming, this place can be hit or miss, but when it hits, this place is surprisingly good. Although Sweet Melissa's is vegetarian/vegan, not all dishes are truly healthy and can be richer than you might expect, especially is you start adding sour cream and some of the sauce options. The crowd is mixed, and I usually end up seeing the hippie/hipster crew here, which isn't always the friendliest bunch, but they do live up to the expectation of who you might see in a restaurant like this. On my most recent visit to Laramie I ordered the quiche, flavor was good but I could immediately tell it was reheated in the microwave which left what should have been a delicious, flaky crust soggy. This dish would have been great if it was fresh or reheated in a way to maintain the crust.

Only got to eat here once while in town but happy to have tried it. I loved the eggplant parm sub with a side of salad. The fried banana bread dessert is INSANE. I don't even understand how something so good could be made better. Please order this if you go, no matter how full you are from your meal, it's worth it.

Actually I have never set foot in this restaurant but I have had experience with them. I live in California but have a sister and brother-in-law that live in Laramie. Sweet Melissa's is one of their favorite restaurants so I always call and get them something. The people on the phone are always friendly and helpful and from what I understand the Key Lime pie I ordered for my brother's Birthday was great! Someday I hope to walk in the door and see for myself.

So basically vegetarian restaurants are always scary to take a plunge on when I'm not familiar with the place already, but if you look to the other reviews you'll see this place is already pretty reputable. Coming into the cafe the atmosphere is very small, for the lack of a better word. It's cozy and small but you never feel crowded. Another common stigma associated with vegetarian places is that they're for young hipster kids and while this place does a good job or catering to those kids, but it's very inviting and for everyone. Most times I've been to this place there are usually two tables that are occupied by senior citizens or middle aged adults. Now we have the food. There are two minor negatives, first the pricing is slightly high, but secondly the food sometimes is not completely filling, but really it's dependent on what you decide to order. The quiche while being enjoyable is far too small for the price point. On my previous visit I had the portobello swiss burger and that was way more enjoyable, far more robust and filling. For vegetarian cuisine it was surprisingly flavorful and delicious. The deserts were all great. Between my friends and I we had many of the deserts there and it was all very delicious. I had the carrot cake and it was really enjoyable. Overall I really like this place, but making good choices is a large part of having an preferable experience.

Hands down my favorite establishment in Laramie and the restaurant I miss the most whenever we live elsewhere. Favorites are, in no particular order: Falafel Pita, Pit-za's, Sweet Potato and Black Bean Burritos and Fried Banana Bread. Always a lovely selection of sides and daily specials AND a great cocktail menu - Definitely recommend the Spiked Chai either hot or cold, depending on the weather outside!

The tip of all tips: Order the reuben, but sub in their housemade lentil loaf instead of portobella. I've been eating veg reubens for 20 years nationwide and this is by far the best one I have ever eaten. Even to-go it was crispy and uber flavorful and just amazing. I called the restaurant back to thank the cook. And aside from that, SM's is a small mecca of inclusivity and warmth in the sometimes not so tolerant wasteland of WY.

YUM! What an awesome surprise to find Sweet Melissa's as my husband and I were driving from coast to coast. The staff were super-friendly. Since we had cats in the car - they kindly made our order to-go, and even gave us some extra gravy for our potatoes in a little to-go coffee mug. The food was AWESOME. Best vegan burger I have had in a while. We BOTH got the bacon cheeseburger and didn't stop to breath until we had both finished our burgers.. It was the perfect texture, great taste - just perfect. The sides left a little to be desired -- the roasted sweet potatoes were a little mushy, and the mashed potatoes a little grainy. But the gravy was delicious! I will DEFINITELY go back the next time I'm in Wyoming.

Who would have thought this caliber of a restaurant would be in Laramie!!!!!! Vegan and vegetarian fare for everyone!!! It's such a cool little space along this old main street next to the railroad tracks. When you walk in it feels like an old timey saloon diner. The staff are extremely nice and outgoing. We had been on the road for hours and desperately needed a good meal. This was it for sure!!!!!! I had a green chili burrito and my wife had some sort of mushroom fajitas that were amazing!!!!! Both dishes tasted fresh and homemade. But the standout of the night were the desserts, we had raspberry cobbler and some sort of bread pudding and both were phenomenal. It's so rare to get such good desserts. I'm going to review their beer list in the tavern next door because that's where they came from, but I'll just hint that its also amazing!!!! This place is special, and if you're on a road trip you absolutely have to stop in here and get some of their great food to refuel you!!!!!!!!!

As a non vegetarian I had doubt but this place is good, had the sweet potato burrito and would recommend it. Nice service and atmosphere. I agree with other reviews that this is high calorie food. I think if you are used to having a meat meal you'll not feel fulfilled but if you're just going for lunch then it's nice to have something different than the usual.

When visiting Laramie, Wyoming this last summer I had the pleasure of dining here. I thoroughly enjoyed the atmosphere which is modestly decorated and comfortable. Their menu was wonderful- full of hearty, healthy options. Both times I ate here during my three-week stay, the service was excellent and prompt and the prices reasonable. The food really knocked my socks off. Even as a vegetarian, I am hesitant when visiting vegetarian restaurants because often people sacrifice flavor to keep the meat out. Not in this case. Sweet Melissa's had wonderful entrees. My favorite dish there was a huge grilled portabello sandwich. It was seasoned perfectly and I savored every bite. If fate takes you to remote Laramie, Wyoming, don't hesitate to eat here. The dishes are filling even if you are a carnivore!

Our oasis from the bad food of our cross country trip. My husband if far from a vegetarian, but in my desperation for a vegetable, I made him come here with me and he loved it! Falafels were incredible and I got some nice veggies with my hummus. My daughter had a pizza that she loved. My husband had the chili. Great food! I have to say our server was not wonderful at first. We waited 15 minutes outside for it to open and when she opened the door she could see us waiting, but simply unlocked, walked away, and didn't make us feel at all welcomed. I won't give them less stars for that, because she got nicer as the meal progressed, but a note to the restaurant that if someone is waiting outside, open the door for them and say "hello".

Sweet Melissa's is a darling little restaurant in downtown Laramie. I especially love the stir fry with peanut sauce and you can order a delicious cocktail from the adjoining bar, Front Street. Hands down my favorite restaurant in Laramie!

What? Vegetarian fare in cowgirl territory? I had to rub my eyes to make sure this was true. Irrespective of how they brand themselves, excellent food!! A great recommendation to the omnivores who would like to chart the unwandered territory of eating only plants for a change ,and choose not to sacrifice good and healthy food for the holy cow

I'm not really a fan of vegetarian food, but I thought their falafel was very good. The waitstaff were very friendly.

This place is worth checking out. The food is great if not fantastically priced. I liked the atmosphere, the staff and most importantly my food. Too bad there wasn't as much of it as I was expecting.

Fantastic place in Laramie! We looked over the reviews here on Yelp and a couple of other reviews. After seeing some of the photos, we knew this was a place to try. Only one in our group of six was Vegetarian, but we like to try different places. Melissa's definitely has a college town feel and the staff - a cross between beatnik and 80's punk. An eclectic place to say the least. The food was great! We really enjoyed the Falafel Pita & Black Bean Tamale Pie. "Chili tacos were full of flavor" One of our guests commented. those tacos were huge too! The kiddos enjoyed one of their dining staples, he had brown rice and she had noodles & marinara (on the side). They have adult beverages from the Tavern next door. Quite a few items on their chalkboard list. We had a great time at Sweet Melissa's, hope to visit again in the future.

Cute cozy space with awesome specials. I had the jalapeno hummus, sweet potato curry & kale slaw. Unbelievably good. Got extra to take on the road. Very fresh & very reasonable prices. If you're travelling thru Laramie, you have to stop here. The best bite in town for sure.

WOW, I feel bad for writing this lackluster review of an apparently really popular little place, but here's my take on it. It was really cold and windy and so I wanted soup (we were on a very long road trip). A local liquor store shopkeeper suggested this place, and so we were really excited to go (always good when a local recommends it, right?) Ok, so here's the good and what I didn't really enjoy list: The Good: - atmosphere: so cute. Chalk boards, local artist paintings for decor, etc. - service (well,....there's more to this feature); the waitress was nice and warm - interesting variety of foods: the pita pizza was quite good but my carnivore husband complained that if he was going to pay $8 for a pizza, it better be more than 8". What a funny man. What I didn't Enjoy: - salty: my daughter and I both had soups; she got a potato garlic and I got the North African Peanut (I know, right?). And I was SHOCKED when the soups came out.... LESS than ordinary. It tasted like someone accidentally dumped a bag of salt into the pot. And I **LIKE** my food salty, alright? That should say a lot. I had to order a side of brown rice to put into my peanut soup to downgrade my taste buds being blasted off by all that SALT. - service: So here's what's weird. She was really nice but she was never around when we needed her and always there when we didn't. Bizarre. What also made this trip a bit off-kilter was that it was a sit-yourself kind of place. Not that that bothers me, but this one couple with their only child, Grace (they said her name so many times I couldn't forget it) decided to sit RIGHT NEXT to our booth. Again, I wouldn't usually mind that (though it struck me as odd since the entire place was open), if it wasn't for THIS particular couple. Let's just say I felt like I was flashed back to the 1980s and was listening to some New Age yuppies talking to their only child about what is kosher behavior and what was not. And the mom was talking SO LOUDLY that I couldn't even hear myself think. Can't blame the cafe for that AT ALL, but it did not help me swallow my extremely salty soup any easier. =)

After some scary winter traveling my friend and I arrived to a hotel in Laramie and we needed some wholesome food. Thanks to Yelp we found Sweet Melissa's. My friend drove over to Sweet Melissa's and ordered some take-out. So my review is based solely on the food. I had the reuben with seitan and a side salad and my friend had a mushroom melt sandwich with mashed potatoes. My reuben was delish and the side salad was great; huge portion, large pieces of carrot, mushrooms, tomato, cucumber, and onion. Sweet Melissa's was a great find and was so scrumptious after a long day of traveling.

Great meal in Laramie!! after many nights in the woods eating food that can be easily cooked in a tin foil oven in the middle of a campfire, this was a much needed dinner. Tried the lasagna and the seitan stir-fry and both were fantastic. Also make sure you get the moscow drink (can't recall the exact name, but just ask for the drink that comes in the copper mug - they'll know what you're talking about!!) Also, definitely stop by the Atmosphere clothing/outdoor store just around the corner - this place has some amazing gear - and disc golf discs too

I stopped at Sweet Melissa's for lunch yesterday- its a cute little restaurant facing the train tracks on Front Street in downtown Laramie. The inside decor is really nice- though booths are a little small and seating is limited, I would hesitate to take a large group there. The wait staff was extremely friendly and attentive. The lunch menu was pretty large- a great sounding selection of salads and sandwiches, with some larger (entree) options. We had grilled cheese, falafel, and the lentil loaf sandwich with soups of the day- potato garlic or white bean rosemary. It was all delicious- a perfect warm lunch for a November day. We couldn't resist trying the sour cream pumpkin pie for dessert- yum! Only thing I would suggest is to use real whipped cream. As a new Laramie resident I will definitely be making return trips to Sweet Melissa's!

What a pleasant surprise to find a vegetarian/vegan cafe in Laramie, Wyoming, of all places! I was in town for a day of work and enjoyed having this option. The menu is huge and I had a hard time deciding what to get. I ended up ordering the falafel and overall it tasted really good. My only complaint is that they could work on presentation a bit. The side salad I ordered was kind of weird: it included large sticks of celery and carrot and the other vegetables were cut into huge pieces. But it all tasted good. I especially liked the tahini dressing.

You want to find Sweet Melissa Vegeterian Café in Laramie. Cute cozy and very very busy with a 100% vegeterian menu that offers many vegan items as well. All menu items are marked if they've vegan, contain egg or dairy, or are vegan on request. The icing in my cake? They have a gluten free menu as well. I ordered the Falalfel Pita. It comes with my choice of cucumber yogurt sauce or Tahini sauce, and is served with chips and salsa for $7.95. The menu also includes specialty items up to $9.50. Even that is a great price. I'm going to come back here ar least a couple more times while I'm in Laramie becuse I see a bunch of things on the menu I want to try, but I can only eat so much at one sitting. Holy cow - I just asked about the desserts. Everything is home made: carrot cake - peach raspberry cobbler - banana bread grilled and served smothered in maple sauce. I'm gaining weight already. Mmmmmmm mmmmmmmmmmm good stuff.

Sweet Mel's is one of the best restaurants in Laramie, and for good reason. The specials change daily, but the staples of the regular menu are what I come back for time and time again. The lasagna is fantastic, and the artichoke dip and hummus are great!

I love this place. Seriously, there aren't many places to go out to eat in Laramie but this is always at the top of the list. Yes it's 100% Vegetarian, with a wide array of Vegan options but it is anything but boring! Great daily specials; a unique side dish, entree and soup every day. As well as a quiche and lasagna d'jour. I dunno where they get all of their ideas and inspiration but one day, I'm stealing their cook book. Or maybe they could just publish it?

We stopped at Sweet Melissa's on a drive from Denver to Oakland and are so thankful we did! It is located on the edge of a cute downtown area with plenty of parking except beware--the actual street they are on is a one way that I almost turned into! We are both vegetarians from the Midwest so we actually did not have high expectations for Wyoming eateries but man, Laramie has progressed!! We ordered a bottle of root beer and some coffee for drinks and walked our dog around while we ordered take out. My partner had their smoky mac and cheese which was fabulous and I chose the lentil meatloaf and that was the big knockout. It came with mashed potatoes and mushroom gravy, veggies, and the loaf was delicious and had some sort of sauce on top not ketchup but something else...a mystery. The sauce was tasty but truly it wasn't dry at all and didn't even need that extra touch although I appreciated it. I am a saucy girl! We ate our meals in a little outside sitting area across the street and the portions were large enough that we kept our boxes and were able to finish the rest later on our road trip. Another plus! The staff was uber friendly even giving us the good distilled water in a cup for our pup and the patrons were friendly also.

I met my dad in Laramie so we could go to the Wyoming-Texas football game (yes, this review is more than a couple years overdue.) We debated going to some of my old haunts from my college days - the Overland Deli, Jeffreys, etc. I read the great reviews for Sweet Melissa's on Yelp and convinced my dad to give it a try. I had eggplant parmesan and it was just fabulous. Just crisp enough, just cooked enough, not bitter, not tough. The sauce was great and just the right amount of cheese too. My dad had pasta of some sort but I don't remember what. What I remember is the next night, after the game (ok, it was a loss but dammit, we were winning 12-10 for about 37 glorious seconds right before half time) we went downtown and every place was PACKED. Imagine my shock when my carnivore father said, "Let's go to that place from last nigt again. That was good!!" I don't remember what I had the second night (I'm thinking a burrito of some sort if I think real hard)...I was too busy marveling that my father ordered spaghetti and meatless meatballs. Yes, that's right folks, my dad tried a meatless meatball dish. And guess what? He LOVVVVVvED it! The decor is homey and kitschy. If my steak-and-potatoes, hamburger-and-fries papa loved it, then it has to be pretty darn good! Pros: Interesting rotating menu Prompt and friendly servers (who didn't mind questions) Wine list (unexpected) Pete Simpson and his wife sat at the table behind us Cons: Parking can be a bit difficult when it is busy downtown

I love meat, yet I love Sweet Melissa's. This confounded me after I first my first bite of the black bean sweat potato burrito, which will leave you more than full. The flavors in each of their dishes are full. My other favorites are the portobello mushroom swiss burger and the lasagna. The spinach artichoke dip is delicious as well and manages to feel healthy. Their beer selection is also very good.

I was so happy to see a vegetarian place in Wyoming! Most of the time I have to make do with salads and grilled cheese sandwiches while traveling through the area. But Sweet Melissa's came to the rescue. I had the tamale pie. It wasn't flavored quite the way I might expect it to be in California, but it was still very good. The service was attentive, and I liked the relaxed atmosphere. This is pretty picky, but I almost didn't go in because of the way they had the front curtains drawn. They look like canvas and for a moment I thought the place was closed. I probably would have driven by if I hadn't seen someone go in. All in all, a great find in Laramie.

Sweet Melissa's, you complete me. When I made the decision last summer to move to Laramie for a job, I was worried because I was a vegetarian moving to a state where I thought people would shoot and eat dinosaurs, if they still roamed the earth. This is not to say that I have anything against potential dinosaur-eating people, I don't in the very least, it's just that I prefer the soft caress of romaine lettuce leaves against my palette, rather than a blood-drippin' moose carcass. Anyway, I rubbed my eyes with disbelief when I arrived in Laramie and found that this beautiful southeastern Wyoming town had anticipated my arrival by opening a vegetarian restaurant. Okay, in all honesty, this place is phenomenal. In the past few months I have eaten here in the ballpark of 15 times and have never had a bad experience. The thing I love most about this place is that the menu has so many options, and it encompasses several cuisines; American, Italian, Greek, Indian, Mexican, etc. Also, on several occasions I have tried their daily specials, and they have all been better than I could have ever imagined. The menu also has several vegan-friendly dishes as well.

After days on the road it was great to find an organic and flavorful meal. Had the black bean and sweet potato burrito. The salsa was fresh and had just the right bite to it. A real hidden gem. If you care about what you put into your body stop by Sweet Melissa's when you are in the downtown Laramie area.

Funky environment, great service, awesome food... My daughter took us to this hidden gem on a visit to see her at College. We've been on the road for almost a week and this is the best food we've had since leaving home in CA. Don't miss dessert... The fried Banana Bread with Maple/Walnut sauce was sublime and their Raspberry/Peach Cobbler even impressed my wife (a baker extraordinaire in her own right...)

A magnificent gem set against the rural western landscape of such a historic town! After driving for a significant period of time, my dad and I stopped in, uncertain of what we would encounter. As I try to eat relatively vegetarian/vegan, I was completely astonished to find such an incredibly delicious and eclectic variety of vegan and vegetarian options on the menu! From the vegan cheese dip (which is FANTASTIC, especially paired with pita chips!) to the fresh pita bread pizza with choose-your-own-toppings, Sweet Melissa's merely continued to appease both my taste buds and appetite! Even my dad, who enjoys the occasional hot dog and has a secret love of greasy foods found Sweet Melissa's to be absolutely out of this world. Excellent, friendly service only enhanced the already delectable experience! A must-stop for anyone traveling through the majestic landscape of Wyoming!

Stopped here on a trip back to CO from Jackson, WY in Aug 2011. Reminded me of Watercourse in Denver at first - similar veggie smell wafting, old stone wall, little dark. Super slow service, but friendly server. Fresh side salad w/creamy miso and portobella fajitas... Worth a try.

This place reminded me of Berkeley! It's vegetarian, it felt like a co-op, and the atmosphere was great. What ever you do don't listen to their suggestion of getting the smothered sweet potato black bean burrito. It was bland and not that great. I tried my friends' falafels and they were amazing! The best part about this place is their pies....mmm, so good! My all time favorite is the sour cream pumpkin pie! It's not too rich, but very flavorful. I also tried their lemon pie...it was good, although not my favorite. The place is a bit pricey, but all the food in Laramie is pricey.

This is probably the only restaurant that so much as serves vegetarian/vegan options in Wyoming (other than, perhaps, tourist-tainted Teton county). That fact alone is enough for it to merit five stars. The food is delicious and the prices are unbeatable. Enough to take care o'me whenever I go to Laramie. All right, so my poetic and alliteration skills are truly awful, but seriously, Sweet Melissa's a great place.

Being from Utah and having occasion several times a year to travel to Iowa by automobile Sweet Melissa's in Laramie is the culinary highlight of the trip, both going and coming! Finding such choice and quality vegetarian food is rare enough in cities with millions and millions of people, so finding it anywhere in Wyoming may make it worth a trip as it's own destination... this is a Find with a capital F. Daily specials satisfy my need for something unique, interesting and delightful on several visits, such as stuffed half acorn squash (stuffed with croutons-walnuts-cashews-celery-sage-water chestnut and more), includes soup or salad. The soup was a great mix of fresh vegetables with garbanzo beans. It was a feast on a plate for a weary traveler. The nut-meatloaf with tomato sauce and mashed potatoes mainstay from the menu is also a favorite. Salad greens are always fresh and intriguing (out in the sticks WY, maybe they are growing their own organic veggies. I have been too full for desert the last two visits, but the list of offerings make me want to stay in town long enough to have room to indulge further. The wait staff have always been great; eager to please and accommodate any special request. I am a people watcher and this is a fun place to go. Intelligent people and conversations have been a happening every time I've been. You might even want to pick out a tie-dyed souvenir T-shirt to take home. I already look forward to my next opportunity to indulge at Sweet Melissa's... It is worthy of having a great song with the same name. InJoy!

This is the best restaurant in town. Its home cooking that vegans, vegetarians and omnivores enjoy. I love taking people to Melissa's who are new to Laramie or are skeptical to trying vegetarian foods. The best foods to get are the Falafel, Portabello Fajitas and the Sweet Potato Burrito with Cashew Cheese. Amazing!

On a recent day trip to Laramie, I saw how highly this place was rated on Yelp and had to try it. Our waitress was friendly and made some good suggestions. We split the hummus of the day (chipotle) and the veggie stir-fry special between two of us. The hummus wasn't spicy, but was very flavorful. The veggie stir-fry was delicious, and they even split it on two plates for us without asking! Win!

I'm not a big vegetarian. First time there, I had a falafel sandwich--it was good but I didn't feel really good after I ate. The second time, I had the special--sour cream chimichangas. They were to-die-for. Also we showed up at 9pm with a group of probably 12 people and no one batted an eyelash. The place is cute to boot, so I give it a higher review.

I have been to Wyoming twice. The first time I was traveling across the country by bus, in the dead of summer, and the bus broke down in the middle of nowhere. I recently returned to Wyoming, in the dead of winter, and things were as easy as pie ... or should I say, chocolate cake with raspberry sauce. I don't know how many vegans there are in Laramie but I get the feeling, well, with the help of some context clues, uh, that there probably aren't very many. Sweet Melissa's is the kind of restaurant that makes you happy because it offers small town wholesome goodness, vegetarian style. While the vegan options are slim, all dishes are vegetarian and many can be made vegan. I enjoyed the stir fry with peanut sauce, although it was over-the-top decadent. The hummus was tasty, definitely order it for your appetizer, but piled inside a sandwich it lacked zazz. I have heard good things about the Specials. Whatever you do though, order the chocolate cake for dessert. Thank you for this vegetarian restaurant in Laramie so I didn't have to eat snow.

I recently discovered this restaurant on a weekend trip to Laramie. The only thing that irritates me about this place is that I didn't know about it sooner! In the past whenever I visited Laramie I would just buy food at Safeway and eat in my hotel room. No longer! I really enjoyed my dinner at Sweet Melissa's. I had the marinated broccoli and tofu over brown rice. The marinated broccoli was perfect: not overcooked but not too crisp, either. Very flavorful and fresh-tasting (very impressive for Wyoming!). Whenever I visit Laramie again I will be sure to stop in here for a bite.

Very good for what it is. It's a vegetarian restaurant in a small college town that serves decent food from stir fry- nachos- pastas, the things that you make home. I appreciate that they do a rather good version of those simple ordinary food. We stopped there for dinner while we are driving cross country even thought we aren't vegetarians. unfortunately we are unlikely to go back but if I ever drive through that area again, I'd definitely stop because there aren't many restaurants that serves decent or healthy food in that part of the country. I got Spaghetti with red wine tomato sauce with veggie meatballs, nothing exciting. It was pretty good although the sauce tasted like it was from a jar but I wouldn't expect place like that to make their own sauce from scratch. Carrot cake was very good. They are not cheap just like anything out there but at least you get a decent meal for a dinner at a pleasant atmosphere while you travel across the country.

So grateful to have a dependably good vegetarian restaurant in town. There is nothing I've tried that I wouldn't recommend. The service is friendly and the owner is quite frequently in the dining room making sure everything runs smoothly. I adore this place.

We stopped at Sweet Melissa's on a road trip through Wyoming. My daughter is vegan, and there really aren't a lot of options for vegans in Wyoming! Even though we arrived about a half an hour before closing, we got great service and the food was excellent.

4 stars? Yup, 4 stars in Laramie. I loved this restaurant! While the decor in my book is funko, others would describe it as cute, quaint, and a place with character. Decor aside, I tried the falafel pita with yogurt sauce and it was fantastic. I ate the whole thing and then wished I had more. The falafel was flavorful and crisp. The yogurt sauce was homemade and offered the perfect balance of coolness to the crispy warmth of the falafel. All of the plates that came out of the kitchen looked fantastic. Vegetarians, vegans, and even meat eaters will love this place. The service is fast and friendly and there was a nice mix of locals and out-of-towners in the restaurant. The prices are great for the large amount of food that you get. Also, if you are lucky, a BNSF train will go by as you are eating lunch - quite an experience because the tracks are right across the street. I can't wait to go back which is something I never thought I would say about a small restaurant in Laramie. Giddy-up to Sweet Melissa's for a great meal.

Nice vegetarian restaurant in downtown Laramie. I went here twice during my stay. The gazpacho, I must say, is KIILLER. Great consistency and flavor. The generously sized piece of toasted bread soaks in the soup and adds a great touch. I also tried the stir fry with peanut sauce and the portabello melt sandwich. Both were decent, but on the heavy side. All in all, a great option.

If you would have told me that there was a vegetarian/vegan restaurant in Laramie, I would have told you to put the glue down - but there is, and it is awesome. You can't tell much by the nondescript door and front of the restaurant, but once you go in, it is lively, fun, and lots of healthy looking people enjoying terrific food. They have draft beers (good ones) and a nice wine/beverage selection. I opted for the Vegan 'bacon/cheddar burger' which was with cashew cheese, tempeh burger and fake bacon bits, with a side of sweet potatoes. Heavenly. Our server was on top of it, nice, and very helpful. Our 7-year old loved it too - he had the lasagna, which was enough food for 2, but wow, it tasted like it was from an upscale italian place! I can't say enough. What a find!

I stopped in for lunch a couple of days ago since my friend had adamantly recommended this place to me when I arrived in Laramie. The dining area had a quaint, cozy atmosphere and my waitress was friendly and attentive enough for my tastes. I ordered their Thai stir-fry and a pint of Pako's IPA. The food came out quickly and I thought it was a decent portion for the price (about $9 I believe). I would have preferred it to have been a little bit spicier, since that's what I usually expect from Thai food. I guess that was probably my fault for not asking beforehand. Either way, it was tasty and quite filling. I will definitely be returning in the future and I look forward to trying some of their other vegetarian fare.

My family went to dinner here because a friend recommended it while we were visiting from out-of-state. My husband and kids liked their sandwiches but my dinner was pretty disappointing. It started with a margarita that wasn't a margarita. I didn't think I'd need to read the drink menu to order a very standard drink, but to be fair the drink menu does say the margarita has Grand Marnier in it. And it's $7.50. It was gross, so I gave it to my husband and mentioned to the waitress she should tell people about the Grand Marnier and she said, "All margaritas have Grand Marnier in them." Um, no. As in, in my whole life, no. But maybe it's a Wyoming thing. Then my pad Thai was so spicy it was inedible. I double-checked the menu and it didn't mention the pad Thai was spicy. So I got a drink I didn't mean to order and a plate full of noodles I couldn't eat. When we got back to the hotel I ate the rest of my son's veg burger, which was pretty good. But I can nuke a veg burger any time I want.
