Sushi is as good as the other place on 3rd St., with the beef and cream cheese California roll being a stand out star. Friendly staff, service a little spotty and the place is a little cramped. Way more food than we could eat, rolls were huge. I now have 2 sushi places.

Anyone who says that this place is expensive is out of their mind. Everything we had was tasty and the server was nice. Great experience.

Way to go Laramie! We started going to school in Laramie in 2001, and have visited several times since graduating. Last weekend my sister was showing us around and took us to Niko, and I was pretty impressed. We were a little nervous about eating sushi so far from a large city that can bring in fresh fish. We were pleasantly surprised. My favorite was the tempura spicy tuna roll. Cocktails need some work, but all the other rolls and dishes were great!

As someone that grew up near the ocean with wonderful sushi options (Los Angeles) I was raised on good sushi. I didn't expect much from Laramie, but when Mizu (3rd Street) opened, I was one of the first through the door. I was disappointed with that offering in Laramie. Then Niko opened several years later and I have never looked back. The food here is WONDERFUL and is priced competitively (fresh ingredients). If you want something special, just ask. The portion sizes are large and the selection is just as large. If you are looking for great sushi give Niko a go. Additionally, Sonny (chef) is great and very caring with customers. Sit at the bar (get a free soup or salad) and chat with Sonny. He will tell you what is special and where each cut of fish is from. You can tell that he puts much pride into his work and the results certainly show that. In my 10+ times here, I have never had any problems. Arrive early as it is limited seating and can fill up on big days and popular nights. Also be sure to give the lunch a go, great value. Very happy to have this in Laramie!

I like Niko sushi. (Makuni is good too though). My favorite sushi at niko is the sunshine roll topped with salmon. It's $10 and every time I've ordered it I find that you get decent sized rolls and the fish tastes fresh. The servers are very nice. Check in and they give you 10%off except sat&sun.

Easily the best restaurant in town.

Update: I received a very nice response from the owner for my previous review giving exact timing details. So I wish to modify my review slightly, as his attentiveness deserves a response. The food is more like 3 1/2 stars, but the service was very slow. My daughters recommended this place after the football game. I am still not sure why restaurants don't allow you to make reservations on game day (the owner said it was because people don't show up, which is sad that a few people ruin it for responsible diners like me). We arrived and the small restaurant was full (maybe 30 total seats). We had a party of 7, and we were the only ones waiting. I ordered beef teppanyaki. Half the table ordered sushi, the other half ordered cooked food. We then proceeded to wait quite a while for our food to come out (the owner said there was someone new, they were understaffed). The soup, salad, entrees and sushi all arrived at the same time, instead of in courses, which I did not appreciate. The restaurant was not even half full by this time. Perhaps I'll give it a try again when it's not a game day.

Wow - the sushi was absolutely delicious! The fish was fresh and there was a great selection of traditional favorites and unique chef specials. The establishment was clean and the staff professional and attentive. We were traveling through town on our way home to Denver after our honeymoon. We have a less than a handful of favorite sushi restaurants, and this one has earned a spot at the top; what a wonderful way to complete our honeymoon vacation!

Quality sushi in Laramie! The style is simple preparation of fresh fish. This restaurant although small puts together great sushi and many other Japanese dishes do not miss!! If you have been settling for downtown sushi-- brave the construction and see for yourself. Great parking on the east side of the building and easy access to the front door. Wine, beer, and featured drinks!! Expensive but well worth the $$.

Our son in Laramie recommended Niko sushi, small and crowded but 10 minutes later we had a seat at sushi bar. Sushi chef recommended Ahi Poke with fresh tuna Hawaii ,it Is delicious . Sushi and sashimi is fresh. Surprise Laramie has a good sushi restaurant, and the price is much cheaper than in Denver,co.

Sushi tasted like it came out of a man-made lake. Lacking in fresh ingredients should probably be an expectation for land-locked state like Wyoming, but it's no excuse for yellowtail that tastes just like a dock smells. Disappointed. The udon and hibachi was mediocre at best. Would not recommend. The owner was responsive to my review. If you don't like it, let her know an she'll hook you up.

OK, but expensive; expect to pay $20 to $30 per person for a decent meal. They had only one waitress and service was slow, so don't go here if you have only an hour for lunch. Quality is middle of the road; neither the best nor the worst I have had. If you have 90 minutes and are willing to pay a premium price to get Japanese Hibachi (the only place that has it in Laramie) or eat close to campus this is not a bad place to stop.

By far exceeded our expectations. I was thrilled to have a new sushi place in town. We were seated right away. We received excellent service from a soon to be teacher named Erin. The chef was conscientious of our GF needs. They have gluten free tamari/soy sauce. Our rolls were not only fresh and extremely delicious, but the presentation was perfect! I have to say without a doubt that NIKO sushi & steak is the best by far! We will be going for lunch too! They even have a happy hour. I can't wait to go back.

Best sushi I've had in Laramie hands down. The fish is really good quality, and there are some great deals that they do. Definitely gonna be a regular now. Do yourself a favor and try it. It's not hard to get to despite the construction.

Not bad. Not great! Close to campus is a plus but everything in Laramie is close to campus. I will likely go back but I will not be incredibly excited about it.

This place is hands down the best sushi in Laramie. It is fresher than the other places in town and higher quality too. A much needed touch of city in this country outpost. Be warned, it will run you a pretty penny, but everyone knows sushi is a food group. Doctor's orders!!

Delicious sushi, delicious everything else. I have not yet found something in the 4 times I have been here that the chef makes that I don't like. The fish is good quality. The beef is good quality and cooked to desired perfection. It may seem pricey but you definitely get what you pay for here, the portions are good sized and as I mentioned before it is quality ingredients unlike another sushi place in the area. The chef and wait staff are friendly and make sure your dining experience is a good one. The environment is nice especially at the bar where you can watch as the chef prepare your sushi or look into the kitchen as he cooks your steak. I'm going to become a regular probably about once per week. See you there sushi lovers.

After many days on the road we needed some healthy, fresh food. This place made our night! We had the hibachi chicken as well as the hibachi udon and tofu steak. Service was prompt, food fast, fresh and flavorful. It's a small place, but didn't feel crowded. Would absolutely recommend this place if you need a break from heavy American cuisine!

I ate there for my birthday in May. It was great, they were slammed and it was probably a little bit slower than it would have been otherwise. The service was great, the people were friendly, the food was awesome. I don't have one negative thing to say about it. Very welcome in this little cowtown!!

...Very impressed; the food was quite good. ...Clean, efficient operation. The relatively small dining space makes for a friendly atmosphere. The clientele varied from students to older folks, and everyone seemed to be enjoying the offerings; nice place!
