Very good. Our steaks were not cooked quite as we asked, which is the only reason for a lower rating. Food was otherwise excellent. Also make very good margaritas.

Salad was fresh, crisp, good sized w/ delicious homemade ranch dressing. Rolls were yeasty & yummy. Broccoli was steamed to perfection. Meat was juicy, tender and flavorful! What's not to like??!! Price was reasonable! Waitress was friendly and accommodating! (Air conditioning a little too high for me- ha)

My wife and I stopped in at J's while on vacation earlier this month and truly enjoyed our meal. Our steaks were done to perfection as were the steamed veggies. Our server, Marissa was very pleasant and attentive. I've given four stars only because the outside front of the restaurant could use some attention and made more inviting.

During a visit to Laramie and some disappointing dining experiences a local told us to try J's, as it was the finest restaurant and best steakhouse in town. The restaurant looks like a glorified Denny's, not really a steakhouse feel to it. We got a little worried when we noticed that only four tables were occupied during the dinner hours, and before we left, we knew why. Our steaks were good, but not great; when you're paying steakhouse prices, the food should be better. Also, shouldn't Wyoming have better beef available? The beer list included big-beer (Bud, Miller) on tap, and only two craft beer offerings available, which was served in a bottle! Quality beer should come in a glass, or at least give me a glass to pour it into. Service was attentive, but the staff wasn't real friendly, and nobody smiled (found the same in other restaurants, maybe it's a Laramie thing?).

I was traveling through on my way to San Diego and stopped because I wanted a steak. Boy did I choose the right place. Excellent from start to finish! Hot rolls and butter, very fresh salad, very good French onion soup and an awesome steak cooked exactly like I love it. Topped it all off with a Carmel apple pie! Very good price point as well. Not going to break you and everyone was awesome!!!

The food is plentiful and very we'll prepared. We have been a couple of times and have had excellent service and the chicken fried steak is superb. Come and enjoy an excellent meal and service.

Just finished dinner at J's Steakhouse, it was wonderful! I was immediately greeted at the door and sat with fresh bread and homemade butter. My server was great as well. She was quick, knowledgable and friendly. I ordered the ribeye and it was cooked perfectly. If I would have had room for dessert, I would have gotten the carrot cake! My husband had it and it was delicious. Overall, we had a great experience! I didn't realize they served breakfast on the weekends, I'll definitely be back to try that!

After traveling for over 24 hours straight on an epic road trip from Austin to Reno in a 40' retro fitted school bus that would give "Priscilla Queen of the Desert" a run for her money, my two travel friends and I decided to give up the ghost and pick a town to rest our weary heads in for the night. I will be the first to admit I have always been intrigued with the theory that Wyoming does not exist, however I could not be happier to be proven wrong. And J's Steakhouse in Laramie, WY definitely helped stear me in the right direction. My buddy and I were greeted by a very pleasant hostess who gave us the choice of booth or table. Our waitress was quick to let us know they had a full service bar list for drinks. They're on a roll now! There was file mignon on the menu... Keep going... Really decent red wine by the glass... And the winning trifactor in this equation... Excellent service, everything was right, food was really good and they offered dessert, which I never eat but love the offer. All in all it was a great stop in a pleasant little highway town.

J's steak house is a good, keep prices reasonable for the average guy steakhouse. It has several cuts of meat to choose from, from the porterhouse and rib eye down to a basic sirloin. They have a prime rib to die for, which is one of the most popular items on the menu and is available anytime they are open in the evenings. For the person not wanting steak, there are a variety of other things on the menu including hamburgers, salads, and sea food. They have several very popular appetizers including rocky mountain oysters, mushrooms, salmon dip, and fried potato skins, but the best by far is the homemade chislick. They also have a variety of desserts if you still have room after your meal. I highly recommend trying this place out as it is the best steakhouse in Laramie.

Super casual place, probably in an old Denny's? Really good ribeye and filet, perfect medium rare. Good seasoning, lots of flavor. We had peach cobbler and caramel cheesecake for dessert. Really good vanilla ice cream.

A nice improvement from the Village Inn that used to be here. I really enjoyed my meal- the rolls were warm and delicious, salad was fresh, my steak was cooked perfectly and our waitress was friendly and helpful. A little bit of a wait, but overall a great place to dine out in Laramie.

The Porterhouse steak was hands down the best steak I have ever had! This place is the best restaurant in Laramie

Went for the first time! Appetizers were very good, chicken tortilla soup was amazing and spicy! Rib steak, fried shrimp, prime rib, and NY was all excellent. Only downside was the service, I ordered my steak loaded she forgot and didn't even ask us about dessert! Neither the bus person or waitress were very attentive. We had to ask for more water. We would definitely go back but this place would be a 5 if the wait staff were better!

I don't understand these good reviews. Steak was mediocore. Definitely not a "fancy" steak house

Just staying in Laramie for one night and saw Jays near my hotel. I ask the hotel clerk if Jays was any good and she recommended it. Had the 10 oz ribeye that was grilled to perfection, great flavor and tender. The cut was generous and probably more than 10 oz. I also had the baked potato and broccoli that was also good.

Terrific breakfast. I had the Montecristo it was wonderful. It's basically a French toast sandwich served with hashbrowns.

We're locals and thought we'd give it a try. We had the chopped steak, western burger, and prime rib sandwich. Had fried mushrooms for appetizer. Food was very good, and it was hot! Steaks were pricy, but beef is up in price all over. Service was very good. If I had to offer up one thing for improvement it would be the dinner rolls...they don't compare with fresh rolls from the big chain steakhouses....but just a minor thing. We'd certainly go back!
