While passing through Lander on our way to Yellowstone, we stopped for an early dinner, and were thrilled to discover a real gem. This town of 7000 people has a better Chinese restaurant than our city of three million. The outside of the restaurant is simple but the inside is beautifully decorated. No red leatherette banquettes and fish tanks here! Nice Asian art pieces and neutral colors make for a calming atmosphere. The servers are polite and knowledgable. We ordered Eggrolls and Cambodian Eggrolls to start and both were excellent. The Cambodian Eggrolls had crab and pork in them and were served with a sweet and spicy dipping sauce. Yum! Not greasy, not cabbage-y, just crackling and hot and crispy. For entrees we ordered Mongolian beef, chicken curry, and sweet and sour pork. Oh boy, we liked all three. They were beautifully presented, with no sign of paper plates as another review mentioned. The portion size was appropriate--not too large, not too small. And we didn't find it at all expensive. It seemed about average in price. I don't know when or if we'll get back to Lander, but the people who live there are lucky to have this place.

So who would've thought there'd be an exceptional Chinese restaurant in the small town of Lander, WY??!! Well it is true! I had the opportunity to eat here a couple of weeks ago while doing research for a book I'm writing. I actually arrived at the restaurant 20 minutes prior to opening and just walked around town to pass the time. I'm glad I stuck around! The service was fast and friendly! The restaurant was clean and nicely designed. What a great atmosphere. Now the food. Wow, the food was amazing. I don't know if I would call myself a Chinese food connoisseur but I've had plenty in my lifetime (my big belly is proof positive)! I ordered the sweet & sour combo. I got a lot of food, big shrimp, pork and chicken all perfectly fried. The sauce was delicious not overly sweet just enough so that you can still taste the vegetables and meat/seafood. Someone else mentioned that they were disappointed that they got their beverage in a can. The soda in a can was fine by me. I just came back from a trip to London and Paris and you get accustomed to getting your beverage canned or bottled. It's no big deal. I would most definitely come back here plus Lander is a charming little town with a bustling Main Street area too. You go China Garden!!!

Lunch buffet is the way to go! I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of the the food. I've had dinner here a few times and it's OK. The lunch buffet I thought was even better.

I gave the China Garden another try after a bad experience a few years back and I am pleased to see the quality is back. I loved the food and our group was taken care of well by the wait staff. I am so glad and excited that my trips to Lander will include the China Garden again.

Though I live in a much larger city than Lander, Wyoming, I can't find a Chinese restaurant that holds a candle to China Garden. This place has spoiled me. The curry shrimp is devine.

I give it a ZERO. The buffet had several empty trays. The rice was dry and hard. The foods flavor was disgusting. This was at 12:30 prime lunch time. The Chinese restaurant I'm used to has a person standing by the buffet making sure its full and clean. I obviously will never go back.
I've been coming to the Garden for years and the service has always been a little bit slow. but adjust expectations for where you are, relax, and enjoy. food is always best during peak hours; but, isn't that true w/most restaurants?

I do find the food to be good. It is clean and a really nice atmosphere. The lunch buffet is what I always go for. The value on the buffet is great. The only thing I don't like is the soda. When I go to a restarant I expect a fountain soda and not out of the can

China Garden is on my must eat list every time I am in Lander. The food is excellent, kudos to the Cambodian chef. The service is friendly and consistently attentive. Everyone is smiling, the place is spotless and always packed with locals, a very good sign. The Hot & Sour chicken is delicious and we always have to get an order of Happy Family.

In spite of the earlier ad, I found the food to be every bit as good as the Chinese food I get in the bay area. In fact, I would give them six stars if I could, just for providing a change of pace from the usual burger joints around here. Give Andy a chance, he wont dissapoint!

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.
Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.
There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.

Had dinner here this evening. I ordered the crispy duck but was quickly told they were out, so I settled on the crispy steak cubes. Hot and sour soup was pretty good so were the fried prawns even thought they were just shrimp. Pretty much all the appetizers were good but the entrée lacked. Service was pretty slow as well. Can't say I wouldn't go back but I sure wouldn't go out of my way to find the place.
