Let me get the negative out of the way first - this place is overpriced. Why is it overpriced? Well, most likely because of its location, the lack of Indian food competition in town, and its cute interior décor. This place is not what I think of when I think of an Indian restaurant ( you know, a somewhat dark and old place, most likely with a buffet, that contains at least a couple of actual Indian people inside). Despite the price, the food is pretty tasty, so tasty, I way overate and felt like I might die after. Anyway, I had made a reservation for 3 of us, but we ended up being a group of 4 with a baby, and the staff accommodated us. We started with the bison dumplings... why have essentially potstickers at an Indian restaurant? Oh, well because the name the 'Indian' refers to the body of water, not the country, interesting. The dumplings were good and the sauce served with them was delish. They had a special on a fantastic drink- essentially boozed ice chai tea, 5$, can't beat that! For food, I got to try the tikka masala (very tasty), the butter chicken (good, but a bit too tomato -y), and some layered chicken with rice and veggies and curry sauce dish which was easily the best thing I tried. We also had some garlic naan which was an exceptionally small portion for the price, but was tasty. Would I go back? Possibly, but it wouldn't be number one on my list.

I do not leave many reviews, but in this restaurant, we were really unsatisfied. When we came in, we were asked to wait for 45 minutes. Fine, its the only Indian place there, and we wandered around a bit. Then, we settled down, and took quite some time to decide what to order. The service person came by, and we asked for some more time. When we finally were ready to order, they were out of the Lamb curry. Then we wanted to order something else, and it was also not available. As it turns out, fewer than half of the dishes were available! They could have told us before we spent quite some time deciding on what to order. Or, even better, they could have told us when we came in and were told it would take 45 minutes wait time! Very unsatisfied, we didn't leave a tip. After our trip, I see that more than the bill was charged, even though I clearly marked the credit card receipt. Don't eat here, and if you do, double check your credit card statement!

Totally worthless. Please don't go to this place if you are in the right mindset. All foods come from an Indian store in Salt Lake city. Including gravies. Yes you heard it right!! Everything is the ready-made stuff we get from an Indian store. That too for an exorbitant price. The highlight was the dish called Malaysian Paratha for 3.50$. That is nothing but the Kawan Paratha we get at an Indian store at 7$ for a pack of 25. Absolutely ridiculous. I don't understand how people can fool others in the name of marketing. Please don't be fooled by the reviews and land up here. I don't write reviews often, but I just want to absolutely make sure no one else suffers. Absolutely pathetic. I give a 1 star only because yelp does nt allow me to give 0. I ended up paying 200$ for the ready-made Indian stuff I would have paid 20$ for.

First off, I've spent a lot of time Indian. And I'm a vegetarian. As are most Indians. I love Indian food. I am indian. I Gained wait in Indian b/c I ate so much. And here in Jackson - The palak paneer is terrible. And it has been served to me, twice, cold- which means it isn't fresh. My husband and I have both been ill from the food, twice. Of course, I will keep praying that they improve so we can have Indian food in Jackson that doesn't taste like Sysco.

Excellent food! Reasonable prices as well. Paratha, raita and the vindaloo were especially good.

I don't know where they source their paneer but it was SO FREAKING delicious. I forced everyone on my table to try a bite and they all agree. I don't know how to explain it - it wasn't crumbly or tofu like - more dense with a 'squish' at the beginning. Sort of reminds me of cheese curds. I had the paneer makhani and my husband got the Chicken Tikka Masala. Both the Tikka Masala and makhani sauces were slightly different than we've used to but they were both very delicious.

Defintiely NOT INDIAN! The paratha was a joke! Biryani is a stress test to my taste buds supposed to sense hot stuff. Alas my tongue was burned down to ashes! The biryani was a burning ball or red chili powder. Any indian visiting Teton National Park, please do not visit this place!!!! There is NOTHING Indian about this place. I can make better food then their chef. I strongly implore the management to hire a proper Indian chef to truly serve Indian Food.

Fantastic! From the perfectly spiced, tantalizing food to the exquisite Mai Tai to the impeccably designed decor ... I will definitely be back and will bring my friends with me. Indian food is an incredible addition to the Jackson Hole cuisine offerings and you will certainly not be disappointed with the experience at The Indian. Definitely check this restaurant out - for an amazing meal or just a snack and cocktail in the bar/lounge area. Love it.

Loved the ambience, great food and greater service!! Probably one of the best Indian restaurants I have ever been to. It's is a must visit eatery while in Jackson Hole!!

Awesome staff - like, for real. Food was good, but rather bland (yeah, it was a "1" on their scale). Rice was overcooked. Again, I'd go back - because they're all super nice.

I agree with all the positive reviews!! The Indian is a charming restaurant, with quaint decorations and cozy ambiance. We had to wait for a dinner table so we sat at the bar, ordered a couple of drinks and small plates. Drinks are good but the small plates are simply delicious. Mussels curry, fried okra, bison dumplings... Everything is tasty but on the spicier side. The lamb Vindaloo we ordered was extremely spicy too. Full disclosure: we are Indians used to eating moderately spicy food and asked for spice level 3, thinking the default level might be too mild. It was spicy to such an extent that we had to order 'raita' to tone done the spiciness!! Lesson learned - check with the server on the default spice level which differs based on the chili harvest being used. Despite that, I would go back to try the other small plates, get the Mussels curry and get a few more drinks! Definitely recommended.

Should have been better, When you have to sit next to a huge table in an empty restaurant is not appreciated When you have to hunt down your waiter / waitress for your check is bad When they do not ask if you need anything else demonstrates poor impotent management

Great service, great atmosphere. The food is fresh, not totally authentic Indian food its definitely toned down to adapt to everyone's taste but non the less very good. The staff here are amazing they really make you feel welcome. I'm not a big fan of the cuisine and service in the Jackson Hole restaurants. This place is on top of my list to eat when I return to the area.

Terrible food. The beef stew and the Shanghai noodles were very salty and oily. My family and I could not sleep the same night because of that food.

One of the best meals I've had in Jackson. Butter chicken is not to be missed and duck mango curry was fantastic. Highly recommend this restaurant.

Very limited menu. No options for children which meant a $17 dinner for a child. Food was "OK" at best and I am being generous. Service was just terrible. Owner walked by us several times without acknowledging the lengthy wait for our food. I get that they just opened recently, but they were super un-organized. Our appetizer was ice cold, which they replaced but it took forever to get. I appreciate that they took it off the bill, but we waited 45 minutes before we finally had an edible appetizer. Vegetarian options are limited. A bit pricey for the value. $69 with tip for 3 people with no drinks.

I was very surprised to see that there was a decent indian food restaurant in Jackson, Wyoming. The vibe is very mellow and the owners did a really good job with the decor. They have a pretty decent wine and beer list. The food is amazing! Make sure you get a side of naan. It will be enough to share with one or two more people. Their tikka masala is better than the majority of indian food restaurants I've dined at. The service wasn't bad either. Awkwardly large single occupancy bathrooms.

We were just glad to find an indian restaurant around but the buffet was pretty good. They had the standard veg and non veg options but food was pretty tasty. Plus the restaurant's interior decor is great making your dining experience all the more better!

Awesome Indian restaurant located about a block off the town square. The delicious aroma drew us off the Main Street in search of a good after skiing dinner spot. This was the best restaurant I ever stumbled into following my nose. The lamb vindaloo was perfect, the naan bread was just right and the Murg makhani was a tasty find. The prices were just under $20 per person, which is normal mid-range for a meal around Jackson Hole.

Really good dining experience in Jackson and the only place for superb Indian food. The nan was done just right, the mussels with nan highly recommended, the Madras Curry with chicken was excellent. Kitchen printer failed so our order was delayed, but the server was nice enough to comp drinks for the delay. Need to fix the music! Sometimes you wouldn't notice it, then realize you're yelling across the table to be heard over the suddenly blasting Billy Joel, then it would fade away again. And pick better music.

We ordered the chicken biryani, cauliflower & peas, chana masala and naan Pros: Nicely decor Very good staff Cons: The chicken biryani had nothing in common with a biryani. The rice wasn't even basmati...it tasted like leftover jasmine rice stir fried with red chilli powder and a few pieces of chicken thrown in. The cauliflower and peas had no spices whatsoever. Basically it was just fried cauliflower with fried peas - (No exaggeration). The two stars are for the channa masala - it was the only thing Indian about the restaurant. The naan is store bought and just warmed in the kitchen. Having said that, the staff is more than accommodating and very pleasant.

We were in Jackson after being in Yellowstone with a dire need for some indian cuisine. Luckily, we came across The Indian and were not disappointed. The food was great, ambiance and decor was well appointed british indian with some of the ownets own art pieces. All in all, we very much enjoyed our meal and met with the owner Ryan afterwards....great guy.

I finally got around to trying out this new restaurant. JH has needed Indian food like it needs powder days. except it gets powder day. We were all thrilled when it opened. We went for a friend's birthday and first sat at the bar. I always want unique libations and the cocktails were great. I had a basil, vodka thing and loved it. We sat down. Service was not super fast, but normal for Jackson and we were not in a hurry. The place was jam packed wall to wall. The waitress was very nice and helpful. We ordered a variety of dishes off the menu. We shared dishes, cuddles and enjoyed the fantastic, well thought out flavors in every dish. The curries were outstanding. The nan perfect. Even the salad with sprouts was unique. Cannot wait to go back and try everything off the menu.

W usually go here and order everything on the menu. I've never been disappointed, the for is always great. All of it. They also know how to make a mean cocktail. I'd definitely recommend this place to everyone who likes food!

Ordered take out because we were a large group. Great options and excellent preparation. The spice levels are obviously toned for an American palate, but otherwise the dishes were truly delicious.

Indian food in jackson has been long anticipated. This food is decent though over priced. The British imperial theme is a little gauche. The service is pretty terrible. The muscles and prawns will keep me coming back.

We went to The Indian for Christmas dinner. We were actively avoiding the typical pre-fixed menus and traditional roasts served by many places. The Indian offered a selection of appetizers, entrees, etc and allowed a la carte orders. We selected the masala chicken curry. The flavors were delightful, the service was very good, and we enjoyed the atmosphere of old British India. We'll be back again!

We were visiting from Pennsylvania and stopped at The Indian for dinner. Some of the best Indian food we have eaten was at the Indian! Food was freshly prepared and the flavors and spices mixed just right. We ordered Palak Panner and Veggie Makanwala and both tasted better than if we ate them in India.

Great meal, small menu but well done. Mussels were amazing and noodle dish with prawns (fresh) , tofu, chix excellent. a couple of veg dishes - very nice. Everything else was great. Small wine list but what they have is great - nice Pinot noir! Check it out. Will go back for sure.

I'm so glad that this place is in town ! The decor is really awesome British colonial theme and they have a nice little bar. The menu is fairly short, but offers enough variety that it is not a problem at all. The lamb vindaloo was spectacular. The service was also very friendly and attentive. I will be going back soon!
