Great soups & salads. Love the thai chicken wrap. Not a fan of their grinders...not seasoned well. A little pricey, but it is clean and food always is fresh.

Darn decent grub. My wife ordered the House Harvest salad. They chopped the lettuce and made the salad fresh right in front of us. I ordered a pastrami sandwich creation of my own. Her salad was very good, and my sandwich was awesome. Piled high with meat and sauerkraut on good fresh rye bread. As an added bonus, the had packets of Guildens Spicy Mustard. For drinks, they had a Coke My Choice machine and 4 different kinds of iced tea. The staff was very friendly, prompt, and patient.

Great sub!! Bread was soft, they really stuffed a lot into the sub. Quick service. First time going there but will definitely go back again. Wish there were more around the region I travel.

If you can get past the poor customer service, the sandwiches aren't bad. They are a little above average. The tomato basil soup was very oily and not tasty. When we arrived, I smiled and said hello and the young man working the cash register greeted me with a weak smile. He went on to stare at us awkwardly until we were ready to order, as if it was unusual for someone to look at the menu before ordering. My boyfriend ordered his sandwich without veggies. When he received it with veggies, they took it back to the counter to pick them off. Then, when we sat down to eat, another worker found it necessary to start wiping all the tables around us and sweeping under them, screeching the chairs against the tile floor all the while. At one point, the broom almost hit my boyfriend's feet. We were the only customers in the entire place. When we entered, all the workers were hanging out in the kitchen area...so I don't know why it was suddenly urgent to clean this area and make it very difficult for my boyfriend and I to converse. It was such preposterous service that we even checked to see if we happened to be in near closing time... We weren't. I won't go back.

Great for salads, mediocre for sandwiches! I was expecting this to be a mom and pop shop but it is more similar to a poor man's panera. The build your own salad was delicious - very generous portions and a great variety of fresh toppings! The sandwiches and soups were less appealing but still tasty and filling. Everything was reasonably priced and came out quickly and our servers were kind and helpful!

Our group ate here twice during a week long training. The salads were really good, the sandwiches were tasty. Of all the fast food restaurants, this place had the best food. Price was about the same as other places.

Nice surprise in the middle of the prairie on a long ride twixt Rapid City and Billings! Great wraps, sandwiches, soups, all made from scratch. Salad choices impressive. Liz's Reuben on marbled rye was a fave. Employees --all female when we stopped in -- seemed to be having a great time, working quickly and well together. Very willing to accommodate: a side of slaw not mentioned on the menu? Sure! Wrap left-overs to go? No problem,,,( and worker donned plastic gloves to keep sanitary). We'll be happy to see that Smiling Moose next time through.

I got the Ruben with sour kraut and chips. Sandwich was great and hot, just a little different flavor corned beef than I am use to although not bad. Price was good and they brought your food to you at your table after ordering. Place was nice and clean

The Smiling Moose Deli is relatively new to the area. We've had the traditional Subway and a Quizno's, so this was a nice change of taste. Not only are hot or cold sandwiches available, but salads too; I really like how you can choose exactly what you want in your salad. They are always fresh and good! Being newer, the Smiling Moose Deli seems to almost always be full and busy, but the staff stay friendly no matter what, in my experience.

They don't give you a free soup with the yelp coupon so be careful unlike me who is too trusting. Watch out for getting sprayed if you use the fountain machine. Yeah there is a sign how to hold the cup but still got sprayed good. Good food though

Been here a few times, it always sounds and looks better than it is. I'm a sauce guy, and the "sauceyness" scale is low for this place. Meh.

The Smiling Moose is new to Gillette, and provides a solid lunch option, especially for those sick of fast food. It is a deli offering hot and cold sandwiches, wraps, salads, etc. It has a decently diverse menu, including a small breakfast selection. The sandwiches come as either foot-long subs or on buns/regular bread. I had the Parisian, which is a hot sandwich with grilled chicken breast, Brie, avocado, sun-dried tomatoes, and pesto mayo. It was surprisingly good. The place was packed, which must be a good sign. I will definitely visit again when I'm in town.
