Great place for a filling breakfast and really friendly staff.......... good, home-style cooking!

Our Place is a cute little coffee shop on the way out of Cody towards the East Gate of Yellowstone. Their sign proudly declares "25 Cent Coffee" to the passerby's. Inside the shop is smallish and staffed by sweet older gals who look like they might have served biscuits and gravy in Cody since the 50s. The food is greasy spoon at it's best - omelets, pancakes, ham, OJ, coffee - you know the drill. The service is great and the food is just perfect. It makes me wish there were more places like this back home in California. On your way out be sure to stop by Tecumseh's Trading Post - probably the best tourist shop in Cody, if not in Wyoming. In the back is huge museum-like room with about two hours worth of wild-west displays for the grow-ups and kids alike.

great breakfest food, but simple american nothing special

Ate breakfast here twice and had two of the best breakfasts I've ever had. Pancakes and eggs one day, with melt in your mouth pancakes, and chicken fried steak that couldn't be beat. Great food and good local color (lots of regulars, always a good sign), good service - highly recommended.

Fantastic breakfast, greeted by the owner and then he even addressed a mistake in our order.
(4)Lance P.
Well, we have had pretty good food here whenever we stop. It isn't fancy but I tend to put emphasis on the food and the staff. These folks provide great service with good food and fair prices. Works for me!

Delicious, homemade, friendly, a must stop for breakfast in Cody. Our Waitress Bree makes the biscuits herself, the homemade cinnamon roll was incredible. Cash only.
(5)Gnome R.
The food was ok though heaps of butter on the toast. By ok I mean edible and portion size was what people should eat but is less than what they might expect. The service was sub par for sure. If you are passing though and want breakfast it is a place to go if the other place is no longer serving breakfast which is what happens to us.

Our family was in Cody for two mornings and both days we came to Our Place. Service is great and friendly and the food is very good. Pancakes are very good, omelettes are also very good. 25 cent coffee!! Where are you going to find that....and it's good too. We're very happy we found Our Place.

Keep in mind you're in Wyoming, and lower your expectations accordingly. The Good: It's a place that serves breakfast food and coffee. In a place where there's not many restaurants, especially breakfast places. I guess you'd go here if you want breakfast and don't want to cook it yourself....the prices are cheap and the food is too. The Bad: Nothing is quality, fresh, homemade, or delicious. Bland, out-of-the box, old-school-in-a-bad-way-before-they-served-good-Âfood....nothing special..."homey" if your home is kind of a dump. The Food: Edible if you lower your expectations, which will occur immediately upon entering this dive, if the decades old "25 cent coffee" sign wasn't a dead giveaway it won't be the classiest or freshest of breakfasts. You can tell by the aging servers and diner-style room cluttered with strange pictures that it's nothin fancy, that's for dang sure. But that's how Wyoming likes it I guess. The Service: Exists. Overall: Meh.

The food is good but be careful. We ordered 2 plates with my wife for $8.50 each for a total of $17 and they charged us $25. When we asked why they told us it was for the coffee and the tax. The coffee was only $0.25 and the Wyoming state sales tax rate is only 4%. Do NOT trust these people and make sure they don't overcharge you.

Down home cooking. Wish they had more room for waiting and sitting but they fit in with the quaint atmosphere of Cody WY. The food could use more seasoning as our taste buds have been around to a few other cities and were looking for maybe one or two more sprinkles of something special but they fit the average breakfast food and they have a wait staff that makes you feel like you just walked into your grandmas kitchen. 3 stars are pretty fitting for this location and as a warning, make sure you bring cash as they don't accept any other form of payment.
(3)Catilin O.
Very good breakfast. Had a chili omelette. Could have used more chili. Very inexpensive meal for Cody.

Wonderful stop for breakfast in Cody on your way into Yellowstone! Yes, there's a wait and the waiting area is tiny, but it's worth it! The food is cooked right, portions are big, service is friendly and the prices are a steal! The only downside is they only take cash, but really, almost every major bank ATM is in Cody. Their pancakes are to die for and be sure to sub in biscuits and gravy for toast (minimal charge). You won't regret it. I wish I could go back!
(5)Laurie G.
Service was delightful and food was pretty good. But neglected to say cash only until bill came. Pretty inconvenient.
(3)Crystal B.
Nothing fancy but that is what I liked. I don't want to pay a fortune for good home cooked food. Tasty never ending coffee for 25 cents. Friendly helpful staff & very quick service. Only problem is they don't take credit cards. But I would definitely recommend this place.

Our Place is a nice diner to get breakfast at. It isn't anything fancy and I like it a lot for that reason. There are many locals who seem to frequent here and it is easy to see why. Their breakfast menu is hearty with all the morning home-cooked favorites. Their coffee is indeed twenty-five cents and the rest of the menu is reasonably priced. We were seated in a room off the main dining area which was pretty tight. When an older gentleman and his wife were almost seated there he, in a straightforwardness I've rarely seen, said "I'm not sitting back there; if I wanted to sit in the corner, I would've stayed at home." Sitting in that back room was one of the only complaints I had. Our Place staff got points though because without prompting they asked us if we would like to move to another table. Their food was solid and hearty. I got the huevos rancheros which was green chiliw smothered on a thick piece of ham, two warm tortillas, hash browns and two perfect (and I really do mean perfect) easy over eggs. My husband got two pancakes, two perfect (and again, I really mean perfect) sunnyside-up eggs, and sausage patties. He loved how well the eggs were cooked and he said the sausage was good but he said he wouldn't get the pancakes again. They have two options of syrup at the table, maple and blueberry. The maple, in both our opinions, was much better. The pancakes weren't bad but he said that he would've liked if they had been a little more crispy. One other important thing to note here at Our Place is that they don't accept plastic so make sure you bring cash. It was a lovely place to stop in and have breakfast with the locals and I would definitely recommend it if your Yellowstone / Wild West adventures bring you to Cody, Wyoming!

Came in at 10:00am, with impatient hungry nine.-year old boy, there was an empty 5 top, but I guess that was too good for us because we were told we had a 15 minute wait in store. Thanks but no thanks. Weird place, and I'm an" old-time-hasher.". Unwelcoming vibe from a tourist trap.
(1)M H.
We stopped here this morning with a little apprehension, but were pleasantly surprised. Yes, it's ordinary fare, but nicely done. The bacon scramble was moist and loaded with bacon, the hash browns cooked to perfection. Cash only, but very reasonable compared to more expensive, less tasty places we've been through Montana and Wyoming. Glad we stopped here.

Hole in the wall diner just west of downtown. Local hangout as well as doing a booming tourist business. Great staff. Great service. Good honest breakfast. Stop and eat here.
(5)Erika M.
They are crazy busy on this Fourth of July, but the food is good and the service is super friendly! We would definitely stop in again.
(4)Jaynie O.
awesome service, feels like home. The food is yummy, greatly recommend their blueberry pancakes and also the biscuit and gravy.
(5)David T.
Pretty good greasy spoon "diner" food. Eggs, bacon, pancakes, hash browns, etc. service is poor.
(3)Danielle P.
THEY DO NOT TAKE DEBIT, CREDIT OR OUT OF STATE CHECKS! I meantion this right away because on our first visit we had to send my husband out to go find an ATM. Embarrassing :( Now that thats out of the way.... We ate here twice for breakfast on our trip. Its very, very small. There is essentially no room to wait inside, but there are benches outside to wait which is fine when the weather is good (luckily for us it was) but I could imagine it would be a rotten time otherwise. The tables are crammed in pretty tight. Not so tight that its uncomfortable, but its defintely cozy. The food is very good. My husand and daughter raved about the biscuits and gravy and their bacon. My over-easy eggs were done to perfection, and I'm quite picky about my eggs. Coffee was excellent as well. Service is hit or miss. You could sit for 10 minutes waiting for someone to take your order or fill your water glass, and then in the next 10 minutes they refill your coffee 5 times. Since it is such a tiny restaurant you can tell that if you are waiting its not because the waitresses are slacking off, they are just kept very busy. Still, its not a place to go if you are in a big rush. You get a lot of food for a very reasonable price. My breakfast which included 2 eggs, a good sized portion of hash browns, a nice sized sausage patty and a delicious piece of sourdough toast so large that I must refer to it as a "slab" cost about $7. If we go back to Cody, I would definitely try this place again.
(4)Dan L.
This is not 4 star worthy. I don't know what the cheese in the omelet was. Everything was heavily buttered and bland. Tasted okay, but nothing at all memorable in a good way. Except the staff, Everyone was nice.
(2)Bonnie F.
My husband and I enjoyed breakfast here 3 mornings. Their oat meals with blueberries is fantastic, as well as sausage biscuits and gravy. The prices are very reasonable, the service is great. worth the short wait if you get there when there is a line at the door.
(5)Helen G.
Great place for breakfast!! We has to wait but it was worth it. Eggs were cooked to perfection. Good coffee. Reasonable prices. We will definitely stop here again.
(5)Jordan B.
Really great service! I love the Omlette and Pancakes!!! Go here for an early morning breakfast!!

All towns need a place like "Our Place." Friendly townies out number the tourists by far. Everyone, well at least the older folks, come in for their $0.25 cent coffee as advertised on their sign. Even better, $6 breakfasts is good enough to top off your day and get it off to a good start. They're known for their hearty portions full of tasty home-style cookin'...and you get nothing less. If you're not full by the end of your meal, purchase a slice of their homemade pie (I'd go for the rhubarb). I can't say its my own recommendation since I had to pass it up, but I heard through the grape vine that it's darn tasty. Take some time in between shoveling down the delicious food to share some words with the locals who often help the waitresses wrap silverware near the entrance. You'll hear plenty of stories worth your time and possibly worth your entire stay in Cody. Keep in mind that Our Place only takes cash, no plastic accepted. I could not think of a better place to stop for breakfast before trekking 50 miles (1 hour approximately) in to Yellowstone National Park through the East Gate.

Came in for late breakfast. Stood at the counter for at least 5 minutes with two other couples we didn't know as 4 different staff walked past us numerous times without even a hello, eye contact or a be right with you and they really didn't look that busy. One sitting at a table at the door wrapping utensils never once looked up at 6 customers standing within 4 feet of her. Two empty tables set and ready visible from where we were. Finally a waitress comes up and says to the couple in front of us "are you on the list?" Not even a hello. Then a customer walks out from the back and asks "did you forget us? You did didn't you?" That did it right there for us and we left. Sure tourist season and all but if you are that burned out on people take a day off or find a different job. I work too hard to be ignored when I am offering you my money for your services.

Coming out of Yellowstone through the eastern entrance and headed toward WY you finally go through two long tunnels dug deep into the mountains. This means you're about to be entering Cody, Wyoming. One of the first restaurants you will see on the right is Our Place. Our Place exists in an alternate dimension where people are authentic, the food is fattening and they don't care, and no one is trying to keep up with what's currently cool. I'm not saying the people eating at Our Place are better or worse than City Slickers. Just different. Which means when you walk within its doors you are operating within their reality. This means go ahead and order the biscuits and gravy. Go ahead and order the french toast with hash browns. Go ahead and order the blueberry pancakes. Go ahead and order all of that stuff at once. Whatever you eat won't effect your waist line because, like I said, you are in an alternative dimension. When you exit the restaurant, the things we city slickers call "calories" and "carbs" will stay there. The food I would give about 4 stars. However that's not what this place is about. Instead order half the menu and soak in the down home ambiance, enjoy the small talk at other tables, and the colorful characters that inhabit this place all while you eat the deliciously fattening food. You won't be in a rush because time doesn't exist here. In fact, leave all your worries behind. You won't regret stopping here, trust me in that. Don't be offended if it takes a while to get seated and you stand awkwardly waiting at the door as the locals gawk at you either, that's just part of the experience.
(5)Meghan B.
SO disappointed, after reading all the great reviews. The food was okay at best-a step below your average diner. I would say our waitress was rude, but we had about 7 different people "serve" us -it seemed as though none of the wait staff were communicating with each other and out of the 7 waitresses that waited on us only 1 was nice and personable. I wold recommend checking out some other restaurants before heading to Our Place. This can not be the best breakfast place in town.
(2)Hyatt G.
Yeah, unh hunh Bomber breakfast, you might have to wait a minute, but it's worth it. I haven't had breakfast like that since I was in the south. 2nd best biscuits and gravy I've had. Fluffly biscuits and real sausage gravy. Also had 2 eggs over-medium--perfect. Hashbrowns were perfect! Chicken-fried steak was perfect! Good prices. Can't wait to be back!
(5)Kelly C.
Just to let you all know. The hours are 6am - 2pm 7 days a week. they are open sundays.
(5)Andi B.
Always good food and friendly service. My family likes to eat here at least once a week. I love their breakfest food and cute decor!
(5)Jared M.
Nothing exotic here. Just your classic cafe style breakfast fare. But its all very well done. Fluffy biscuits with good gravy, nicely cooked bacon, eggs how you like them, etc. CASH ONLY There can be a wait.
(4)Ryan W.
It was just ok. Really wish we would have waited till we got to downtown Cody as there seemed to be some better spots.

Over the course of a 2 week road trip from Texas to Yellowstone National Park, i had the opportunity to sample food in a lot of towns, large and small. The steak and eggs at "Our Place" was not only the best meal of the trip, it is quite possibly the best breakfast i've ever had outside of my own kitchen. While waiting for the last Cody bus tour of the season, i was chatting with a local and asked about breakfast places. She mentioned a touristy location down the block, then said "but if you want to know where the locals go..." And i did. Though it was a bit out of the way, it was definitely worth the drive! The steak was a small sirloin, about 6 ounces, and cooked perfectly. Two eggs, easy over and very fresh. Fantastic sourdough toast, the only hashbrowns i've ever eaten that were worth raving about. Absolute perfection. My only quibble is that the place is small, and the space cramped. Definitely not a place to go if you're in a hurry or with a large group. But the staff is delightful, and the food outstanding.

I was expecting more based on the reviews here. Everyone was friendly and I liked the atmosphere here a lot. We ate breakfast and everything tasted alright. My western omelette was good, nothing special. Can't ask too much for $6 though! My dad ordered biscuits and gravy and he enjoyed them. One odd thing, I ordered orange juice and it was the funniest tasting orange juice I've ever had. For some reason, that sort of tainted the taste of everything else I ate. Also, to reiterate what someone else said, they only accept cash.
(3)Amy T.
Great breakfast in Cody, WY. It's a very casual restaurant. The food and service was great. Way better than the Grandma's Diner place little bit up the main strip.
(4)G S.
We took a family vacation to Yellowstone in July and this is the only restaurant stood out from the rest. It's pretty small and most of the customers are locals. If you are coming from Yellowstone, this is probably the first restaurant you will see at Cody. We stop by because it was recommended by the locals. The food is very much a tasty home cooked meal. We ordered the fish sandwich and burger and they were good with the crispy fries. Can't beat the $0.25 coffee either... Oh, it's cash only.
