We called at 6:30 pm and the soonest reservation we could get was 8:30 pm. We walked in to a smokey atmosphere, checked in and sat at the bar to wait. At 9:00 we walked out. No one really seemed to give a crap about whether we ate or not. Will not go back!

Excellent! Passing through town and had to stop. The outside looks like it belongs in the Ole West. Locals make reservations so unfortunately we had to wait 20 min. Dining is a smaller area. There is live music, which wasn't loud and annoying, it was actually pretty relaxing. My son had the bronco burger and he loved it. I had the 16oz prime rib and it melted in my mouth. We pigged out on their home made bread (which tastes exactly like Hawaiian bread). A must stop and eat place!

The waiter misunderstood my roasted chicken for chicken fried steak. I decided I was full from my salad, so I decided to share my husband's ribs instead of reordering. The ribs were just ok. Not much meat and not very tender. The sides are great and the salads are included. It was about the night not the food! A small local band played and sang and some people danced. It was a very fun night.

First off... Don't ask the Bartender "Ann" from the prior post to hook you up.... Her name is Sassy, not Ann.... And she lives up to her name! The ambiance is western, nothing new... The food was average, the drinks were ok.... The best part, is I paid for the attitude from the bartender who paid us little to no attention.

My wife and I got a recommendation from a local business owner to come here as this was her favorite place. We were glad to come here. The prime rib special was tender, well prepared and more than ample in size. My wife had the chicken wings. They were awesome and the blue cheese dressing had large chunks of blue cheese. We will be back.

Seems like they are more interested in their image than they are in feeding people. Pretty sure our wait time was manufactured. We were conveniently steered to the bar for over-priced drinks. The food was average and over-priced as well.

Steaks were wonderful and tried Rocky Mtn Oysters for the first time. The country western singer surprised me with a birthday song. He introduced himself and was really a nice guy. We bought his CD and he signed it for us. The food was wonderful. We ordered the special of prime rib! The steaks are delicious and cheap in comparison to where we live. The history of the place is great... a former brothel.

Came here while staying in Cody for a trip to Yellowstone. We walked in and were immediately greeted by a man who was sitting at the piano. He asked me for my ID (we were only there to eat dinner, not for drinks), but I gave it to him. We walked up to the host station and the hostess (somewhat rudely) told us it would probably be about an hour or longer before we were seated. We had time to waste so we went to the gas station and liquor store across the street while we waited. When we came back, she told us it would be another 20 or so minutes so we looked around--the history of the place is very interesting, that's for certain. I looked at the specials and noted that there was a salmon with mushrooms dish--not a typical combination that I had some hope would be pulled off well. We were seated and it took an incredibly long time to get food, but they brought out some bread and honey butter which was good. My S.O. got some sort of massive burger that he could only eat about 1/3 of--and the two of us can certainly eat. I ordered the aforementioned salmon special. We were sitting near an older couple who were clearly a little frustrated, and when a waitress got over to them with their food they ate quickly and left. They told us they had been seated for two and a half hours. It took a long time for the food to come out.. nearing up on about an hour. The salmon with mushrooms did not make sense together (I really held high hopes, but apparently I should have known better), the salmon was somewhat dry, and everything was very, very expensive. However, I could tell that the chef who had plated my food was really attempting to make it look nice--it wasn't just slopped on randomly, but it wasn't quite the presentation I think they might have been trying to go for. But I suppose that's just splitting hairs. The only real highlight of the night was this one couple on the dance floor--they were dancing incredibly well and we couldn't take our eyes off of them. Though I can't speak for the bar, I wouldn't really recommend this place to someone stopping through for food. This place might be the greatest for those in Cody, but otherwise, not so much.

Best steak in Cody! Great sides. All housemade desserts. Wonderful Wyoming atmosphere and people!
(5)P. P.
Messed up our reservations but fixed it and took us to a table immediately. Great service and best steak we ever had! Can't wait to go back.
(5)Aleshia S.
Best Prime Rib you will ever have. Cassie's was recommended to us and are we glad we gave it a try. The service was great, the atmosphere is very western and the DJ that sang old western music really topped off the dining experience. The Prime Rib was tender, juicy, cooked perfectly and loaded with flavor, you will not beat this Prime Rib anywhere. You also have to order Grandma's desert, they are homemade from scratch, big portions and delicious.

We only stopped in to meet up with a friend for drinks, but I'm giving it four stars just on the ambiance.

I have eaten a lot of steaks but the bone in Ribeye I had the other day was the best of my life, had it cooked rare and it was very tasty in the middle, the potato was prepared fantastic too. Dancing, live music, this place is a local and tourist favorite.
(5)Relic J.
I found the food overpriced and not that great. 3 of us ate for $87. We ordered a pitcher of beer, a ribeye, a tenderloin, and a 1/2 rack of ribs. The tenderloin was ordered medium rare but was more on the medium well side. The ribeye was ordered medium and came out 1/3 rare, 1/3 medium, and 1/3 all fat. Certainly not worth the price we paid for them. The ribs appeared large but contained little to no meat. The meat that was there was very tough. With our dinner we were served one pitcher of water (never refilled) and some bread (literally crunched in my mouth from being so stale) with honey butter (very good). When we arrived there were only 3 other tables being waited. We ordered when we were the only ones left in the restaurant and waited about 30-45 minutes to actually receive our food. It was hot, but as was mentioned before, not very good. The atmosphere the place offered was great! Tons of decorations and the stage and dance floor looked awesome if/when they would be filled up. Overall, the food wasn't great and it was overpriced. If you ever do make a visit, perhaps just go for drinks and soak up the history of the place. Get a meal somewhere else in Cody.

We just returned from a vacation to Yellowstone and spent several days in Cody. We had dinner here before the rodeo and were delighted with the place. There was a western band providing entertainment and the rustic nature of the place made you feel comfy. Our food was very good and I had the bone-in ribeye which was cooked perfectly. We told them we needed to make the rodeo on time and they accommodated us perfectly. The waiter was attentive and friendly. The only negative was we sat in the bar area for about 15 min. before a waitress asked us for our drink order. But overall a great meal.

Wheelchair access . Steak type restaurant not cheap but ok value . We went there because we had seen it to have a full car park previous nigjts and it was close to our excellent accom at Cody Cowboy Village log cabins We were well looked after; enjoyed our meal and the singer keyboard player was good entertainment Apparently a C&W band plays later in the evening but too late for us old farts. Not bad value given the tourist location- $140 for 4 with drinks

After being told we would have to wait 30 minutes, we left after waiting 45 minutes without being seated.

Possibly one of the worst dining experiences of my life. To begin with, in a restaurant charging 30$ for a steak there was no hot water in the restroom to wash your hands. The salad was mediocre at best with wilted lettuce one chunk of carrot, one slice of cucumber and one small tomato. The bread was not hot and fresh and when the ribeye came out it was a huge slab of overcooked under seasoned meat and a baked potato that had to have been cooked much earlier in the day. Worst of all was the "entertainment". An old man playing a synthesizer with canned "beats" and a woman banging drumsticks on anything within reach all the while screeching like a drowning cat. Add to that a 5$ charge for onions and mushrooms (not told about) and you have a dining experience not to be forgotten.

Lunch at Cassie's yesterday was so good that we decided to try their Sunday brunch. OH MY! I had the chicken and waffles it was great! My husband had steak and eggs 12 ounces of cornfed amazing beef with homemade bread for toast.
(5)Cody B.
Where do I start, the smoked prime rib was bland and the steaks were unseasoned. Wouldn't recommend the steak challenge because they don't know how to cook one, let alone five pounds of it. My bowl of soup was about four ounces. Everyone I was with had their steaks cooked completely opposite of what they asked. The burger was fresh off the buffalo elk, I don't even think they cooked it. I've never been so salty about a restaurant I had to download this app. Don't go to assies

Cassie's: A rollicking good time steakhouse where the food is plentiful, and the patrons are characters straight out of a Louis L' Amour novel. If you ever find yourself hungry for a hunk-a-chunk o' seared dead cow meat in Cody, Wyoming, Cassie's is the place to go. The servers are excellent, the food is plentiful--if not really all that great--but the live music and country western dancing is what takes the cake, for sure. Had their Rocky Mtn oysters to start (in the form of deep fried potato chip lookin' creations), along with fried pickles (surprisingly made from sweet pickle chips, but still pretty good). Most of us had their steaks which were advertised as being "prime or choice." My guess is that the 22 oz. bone-in rib eye that I selected was, at most, "choice," because, aside from being done a little more than I'd asked, it didn't have that great a flavor or marbling, which is unusual in a rib eye. The slightly overcooked potato, along with the fact that Caesar salad came drowned in too much dressing, made this place worth only 3 stars at most. Why, you're asking, was it worth even that, given the above description? Well, Cassie's turns out to be about one of the most fun, rockin' cowboy spots in town. They've got live piano music performed by a guy as cool and weathered as Willie Nelson, who was followed by an outstanding country western band that did an incredible job on all the old standards. The band area is fronted by a 25' x 25' fenced-off dance floor that gets flooded with high-steppin' really accomplished dancers of all styles, from Texas Two-Steppers to polka-jivin' locals who obviously love the place. The bar area (directly open to the dining room space) was so cool that it alone would have elevated Cassie's to 4 stars if it hadn't been for that Goose Canyon be-jacketed motorcycle rider who kept asking my wife to dance every time I went up to get a drink. While she thought it was pretty funny, me . . . not so much. Made me think I should order by the pitcher the next time.

I visited several bars in Cody and this was one of the best! From what I understand, Cassie's started out as a brothel and was originally closer in to town. It eventually relocated to the edge of town, and eventually changed from the prostitution business to the steakhouse business. There are two main rooms. The room on the left is the main dining area and had a bar and live music. The room on the right is an additional dining area where another bar is located. My group chose the room on the right so i would be quieter. Though we were the only people back there, the bartender who came over to take care of us stayed there for the entire duration of our visit and she was a big part of what made it so enjoyable. She was fun and fun to talk to. We weren't planning to be here long, but instead stayed for several rounds.

Stopped in for Sunday brunch. Best I've had in a while. Sammy the bartender made us feel welcome.

This is a one-of-a-kind place...

Awful!!! After reading the great reviews we decided to give it a shot. The Cowgirl steak was served well done, after I ordered it medium-rare. The baked potato was raw, the wasn't anything wrong with the salad, but it wasn't anything special. On top of that we waited for 40 minutes until the meal arrived. This was on Saturday (Memorial Day Weekend) and the restaurant was very quiet. For an establishment that's been in business for so many years, it was a poor showing. When the waitress came over to check on our food (about 10 minutes after it was served) and my husband pointed out the problems, she apologized, left, came back and said the manager would deduct $10 from the bill. Really? The manager didn't even have the decency to come over herself? With barely more than 20 customers in the restaurant? 1 star for the entertainment, a singer and 2 dancers. Big disappointment after a long day on the road. Update: I wrote this review on my phone in 2011 and didn't realized that the views really are just drafts. ;-)

Yeah, unh hunh. I bet they have some sweet dance parties in here but we must have missed that. Came in town for a steak and a beer. We found out that Cassie's don't f#%$ around and that we came to the right place. I ordered a bone-in 22oz ribeye, $28, Big O ordered a 18oz sirloin. Both served on a hot plate without all that other crap, just the meat. The waitress told us that they age the whole rib of beef and cut the steak when the order is placed. I can't imagine a better steak! It was bout perfect. Salad wasn't great. The bottle of Oregon pinot didn't hurt either

I dropped by Cassie's, a well-known local bar and supper club, not for dinner, but simply for a drink. This former "House of Fallen Women" (yes, they even brag about it), is now a steakhouse, bar, nightclub, dance hall ........ If you can think it, Cassie's tries to be it. The interior is split into several levels and motifs, as would be expected of a building that has been added on to so many times. Entering through the main door, you find yourself in a small anteroom; the place where later on in the evening the bouncer would be stopping you to card you. Heading on in, you are greeted by a windowless (and I mean windowless) conglomeration of rooms. There is the "gift shop" (usually closed; but they will open it up if they can find who has a key); the bandstand (the local house band "West" plays on Friday and Saturday nights); the relatively large dance floor; the front bar (the one that is always open); the rear dining room (with a second bar that opens for the evening drinking crowd - sometimes); and the main dining area. Except for the main dining area (and the rear dining area when it is in use), the bar is strikingly dark. It looks tired, and probably hasn't seen an update since Carter was President). The main dining area is well lit and seems much newer. Sidling up to the bar (Yes, sidling. We are in Wyoming, after all), the bartenders (I went twice for a mid-week libation), are quick to greet you. They were both nice enough, and seemed to be attentive to the patron's needs. The on-tap selection is surprisingly small for a bar/supper club (5 or 6), but the bottled selection is reasonable, especially if you like microbrews. They stock a nice selection of beers from several regional breweries, such as Red Lodge Ale in Red Lodge Montana; Grand Teton Brewing Company in Victor, Idaho; and Big Sky Brewing in Missoula, Montana. I tried the Hefeweizen from Red Lodge Ales, the Bitch Creek ESB (Extra Special Brown) from Grand Teton and the Moose Drool from Big Sky Brewing. All were served nice and cold, much appreciated after a 14 hour work day on a warm July afternoon. Bottle, of course, as no one here asks for a glass. The prices were good for a "craft Beer", about $3.00. A quick look at the lunch menu brought no big surprises, although it's not a bar menu, it's a supper club menu. Even looking at just appetizers, the food is a little on the expensive side. $8.00 onion rings, $8.00 Wings; $8.00 Grilled Cheese; $9.00 burgers. The dinner prices might be higher. A few of us dropped in later on during the week for a late-night listen to the house band "West", and to have a couple of drinks. Our server was an absolutely beautiful young lady, but one who had apparently just recently come to the United States to work. She did not know what "draft beer" was, nor did she understand the word "pitcher". I find it to be pretty surprising for a bar waitress not to know these. The two gals in the group ordered a "Pink Cowgirl". My male friends ordered three Bud Lights (bottles), and being a dark beer aficionado, I realized our English limited server would never know what I was talking about. I told her I would come up and look at the selection with her, which I did, and which culminated in my choosing a "Moose Drool Porter". The drinks were cold (although Cassie's apparently does not have air conditioning, as it was hotter than hell in there), and the prices were reasonable for a Friday night. West, the band, was very good, and played a variety of music. It wasn't limited to country, and was enjoyed by all. There is a medium sized dance floor, and it was full. The crowd ranged from Old Time Cowboys, to kids - literally. Even at 10 O'clock at night, there were three and four year-olds dancing with their parents. I guess this place could definitely be called "kid-Friendly". When we re-ordered, we only wanted one Pink Cowgirl, one Bud Light, and one Moose Drool. We ended up with an entire re-order, three extra drinks. Since the prices were reasonable and feeling a little sorry for the gal, we took 'em all. Maybe it's just a good way to sell extra product, though Not having partaken of the dinners, I can't comment on that. Drink prices are reasonable, but I think the food prices are kind of high. There is a second bar/Pool room off to the right of the building (that seems to allow smoking), as well as a drive-thru attached to the building. The place is unique, having been a "House of Ill Repute" in it's earlier days, and it is a local landmark. It's rather run down inside, very divey, but an interesting place to drop by and see. At least you'll be able to say "Yeah, I've been to Cassie's", if nothing else.

We stayed 2 nights in Cody, WY. My wife was looking for a Saloon type restaurant. On our way back from Yellowstone we saw a sign for Cassie's supper club. A lot of local cars, or should I say SUVs and Trucks parked in the front. You could here Western music from the bar. It looked a little frightening from the outside but we went in - what a surprise. There are actually 3 sections, the "nightclub" is separated so the other areas weren't bothered with the music. The main room was split into two sections a big dance floor with a bar and the dining area. To make it short: It is worth a visit, the steaks were absolutely fabulous. My wife hand (again) a NY cut and I (also again) Bison. What a different to the night before! Cooked to perfection, nicely seasoned and perfect service. The prices were good. I can highly recommend this place.
(5)Candace O.
Cheesy broccoli soup was good, Cody special NY steak was big, thick, and tasted like beef.. House cut fries were a little over done but edible. Sirloin was extremely thick and alive in the middle (was taken off our ticket). Manager/owner came over to apologize. Overall quality was to be expected from other reviews, but we left full. Wait staff was very friendly and accommodating. Overpriced and very western style decor.
(3)Dolores G.
Stopping in here only once while here on my own personal saloon tour of the area, after a night at the Cody Night Rodeo, I can say that I had other favorite watering holes I preferred in town. They did offer live music in a gritty western atmosphere (I personally prefer the "charm" of the Irma). Stop in check it out.
(3)Alexandra W.
I will premise this review in that being from Chicago my husband and I have been to many, many steak houses from the four star $$$$ to the single $: both of us loved our meals. Joe went prime rib- he thinks it might be the best he's had in 45 years. My ribeye cooked to perfection. Bar tender pours the way I used to too. Live music, good food worth every dollar, and a great bartendress. Save it for your treat meal - you'll be glad.
(5)Chris C.
I got a ribeye and was not impressed at all. For the price I thought this is going to be delicious. However it wasn't. It was large but it was tough and it was only cooked to medium. So it wasn't over cooked just tough and flavorless.
(2)Kathleen K.
Interminable wait. Strange horrible food took forever after the wait for the table. My "medium rare" ribeye was a gray glob as thin as 1/4" in places. Had a flavor of some kind of off brand bouillon. I actually left most of it on the plate. Teenie baked potato. Waitress never brought water but the busboy got some for us. When she asked how the meal was and I said, "weird" she said, "ok" and walked away. Mostly she was missing in action. As we were leaving I passed a woman with a lovely normal looking ribeye on her plate. Go figure. Blecch. Don't waste your time or money if you're not a gambler. And it was WAY over priced.
(1)Ethan S.
This place had a cool atmosphere, but that was about it. To start, the toilets were atrocious..and i'm used to really bad toilets from our local dive-bars, but barely any light, no lock on the one stall, no paper towels, and the girls bathroom was simply shady (deadbolt and all, with the bathroom door barely closing though!) I ordered the T-bone, and it was tasty and very large, but I got an upset stomach from it later that night. My gf got the filet mignon, and she said it was fine. The salad wasn't really all that green, and the beer selection was mostly large, domestic offerings. The service was ok, and the dancing lessons were entertaining to watch, but I wouldn't return.
(2)Carissa R.
Food was not great. Ordered chicken fried steak and special burger. Expensive and took over an hour. Not recommended
(2)Siara S.
We are carnivores and eat steak regularly and I thought the food was okay--not bad but not phenomenal. We went to the Rib and Chop in another town and I would rather have eaten that again in this town since I knew it was good. The one thing I really did like was the decor and the mounts around the restaurant.
(3)Dana W.
Was recommended by the guy from our hotel for a great steak. Terrible service on a slow Tuesday night. Waited over 15 minutes to be seated, then another 15 or so to have our order taken by a waitress who was on her 2nd day on the job and had no training or guidance by her boss or coworkers. She didn't know much of anything about the menu, how to properly take an order (such as ask how my husband wanted his steak cooked), and was very apologetic about everything. She even set her tray down on my table to serve me my salad. After our order was placed, I had to ask another waitress for bread which didn't come for another 5-10 minutes. Very inattentive staff and I believe the manager/owner should take all the credit for not properly training a new employee. As far as the food, my husband said the ribeye was not worth the price - $22 for his and it was flavorless. He said he's had steak that was twice as good for half the price. Isn't that sad? Not impressed at all.
(1)Bill K.
"30 min wait" well over an hour. Waitress never checked our beverages and never even brought water even after being asked. Ribeye not tender nor flavorfull but was however properly cooked. Side of sauteed mushrooms was a spoonfull of canned mushrooms. The roll was like old "Wonder Bread". Took forever to be served. Staff obviously not well trained but the kitchen seemed to be not well managed and the ultimate source of many of the problems. Absolutely not worth the high prices. Several days later had a better steak at a much nicer place in Cody for less money.
