This clan descent location is a must detour when passing through Cheyenne. It has a rustic country feel to it with a friendly staff. Had the pull pork special....the texture was smooth with a great smoke taste. A bit of country and western frontier style here. Worth the stop!

I have eaten here 5 times and it was always awesome. Today I took a friend there that was visiting and the waitress was horrible. .she forgot what we ordered .she didn't bring our salads .she looked like she was on meth.. they had so many flies in the restaurant. One got stuck in the gravy. One fly went in my drink.grrr I spent 135.00 dollars and it was horrible. I guess they have new management

The waitress was exceptional. The special was to die for. The atmosphere gave you a nice homey feeling. What a great place. I highly recommend a stop here!

Dined there on a Thursday evening. The special was prime rib and shrimp for $22 and the soup of the day was French onion. The soup was okay, but nothing special. The prime rib was cooked perfectly (medium rare), the baked potato was fine and the three breaded shrimp were huge. It's a really fun place to go. However, I'm used to Denver where there is no smoking in restaurants and bars and they didn't even ask us for a preference. Next time we will sit in non smoking for sure.

We stumbled upon this place coming back to Denver from a hike and it was great! Amazing burger, great service and the atmosphere was pure wyoming. It was busy on a Saturday afternoon, so I can imagine the crowd they bring most evenings. We will definitely come back for steak, service and music next time!

This place is a hoot! We stumbled onto this place 4 years ago while driving across Happy Jack Road. The food is hardy, the dancing is fun and the western ware is real. For us out-of-towners, calling ahead for reservations is highly recommended or you get to wait while they seat the locals, or so it seemed to us. Also, if you come during the summer months, a fly swatter might be helpful, even if you eat indoors.

Such a awesome hidden treasure! We stumbled across the bunkhouse one evening and are so happy we did! The food was delicious! The atmosphere was great! Drinks were great! Our waiter was absolutely amazing! Totally will be back before we leave Wyoming!

I went with a group of 12 women. I ordered the bunkhouse steak that is a top sirloin. It was cooked perfectly and very tender. It was about 8 oz of goodness. Several of the women ordered fish and chips and indicated that their meals were good. We were in the side room but it was still very noisy and difficult to carry on a conversation. The band was typical country band. Yes, the horse was tied to the hitching rail out front. Someone said it belongs to a band member who rides it to work! I would go again!

We went here to beat the heat @ Frontier Days. Place was hella packed but there was good live music playin inside and bar service was quick. Unfortunately, the kitchen was backlogged the entire nighty we were there and it took about two hours for us to get any food. Prices are reasonable. The service was really good considering the chaos there. Food was decent but I'd go back here more for the nostalgia of the place then the food.

This is a local bar, out in the middle of not much else on Happy Jack Road west of Cheyenne. It has a dance floor, and evidently a house band. We were there at lunch so I can't speak to the band's quality. Really good bar food. They do a killer chicken-fried steak. I'd go there again.

My husband decided that he wanted to have a burger so we went to The Bunkhouse. There was actually a band playing on a Thursday night, which the waitress said wasn't normal. I had the Beef Wellington, which was really good. My husband got a hamburger. I made the better choice. Everything was made from scratch and was delicious! We will definitely be regulars.

Horrible experience. Owner was incredibly rude. Charged us for three meals at our Christmas party that we had canceled over a week before then charged us a takeout fee because we had the temerity to want to bring the extra dinners, that we had to buy, home with us. Prime rib was mediocre at best, overly salty and tough. Some of our forks actually bent while trying to cut the meat. Our neighbor reported that we were not the only ones that had horrible experiences there. Atmosphere and band is fun but not worth the mediocre food and horrible treatment by the owner. My review is not based upon just one experience at the Bunkhouse. We live less than two miles away and have been there at least 3 dozen times in the last three years. The food has been going down in quality and quantity since that time and we have heard plenty of stories about the horrible treatment dished out by the owner Holly.

The atmosphere is amazing!! Great time dancing and hanging out. Food is okay but the atmosphere was worth it

If I based this review on steak alone; I would give it a solid 4 or 4.5, but unfortunately, I must rate the entire experience. We were a party of four and all had steaks that were cooked to near perfection. The baked potatoes were excellent as well. Our waitress was also very attentive. The problems we encountered were the fact that this is a bar/grill/steakhouse that lies outside of the Cheyenne city limits and people are smoking at a bar that is 20 feet from your table. This might be OK if you are having bar nuts or pretzels, but it does not lend to a great environment when you are trying to dine on 18 to 22 dollar steaks. Cigarette smoke affects your taste buds and the way you interpret flavors. This, unfortunately makes the experience somewhat less than what it could be. The watery iceberg salad and generic rolls could also use some help. All in all, I would recommend this place to "hardcore" steak lovers who can forgive some dining shortcomings.
