Terrible dining experience all around. Our waitress was inattentive and checked in about every 20 minutes. Our meals were served at completely different times. Out of a party of five, two meals were served at one time, then two more came 10 minutes later, and the final meal was served 30 minutes after the first two. My father's meal was barely even warm and obviously had been sitting around for a while. My brother's meal (the last one served) was barely cooked, giving the impression it had been forgotten on the line. All in all, the meal was an hour-forty endeavor that left us all craving more.

The food was mediocre at best. My husband and I ordered a blue moon draft and a glass of white zin, it took at least 15 minutes to get our drink when we could see there was hardly anyone at the bar. I got taxis and they were pretty bland, I ended up eating only 1 of the 3. My husband got the ultimate grill burger and said it was pretty good. It's not the greatest place and the staff is pretty slow. We also ordered pizza as room service one of the nights and it was just ok, we did not go here again after the first night and we stayed for 4 days.

Stopped in on Christmas Eve prior to going to see the light show. When we arrived the grill was not overly business. However, I ask my husband to order the food when the waiter came to take the drinks to ensure we would not be late for our trolley ride - I believe this was a good move. The grill started to fill up. I did notice that a table that came in after us got their food way before us. Along with most of the other people that came in after left prior to us. So if you are in a bit of a rush I would not recommend here. We ordered cod & chips (which are homemade) and crab cake with sweet potato fries. The fried cod was good and hot and the chips were great. Now for the crab cake (I really should know better), it was fried but ended up being abit cool inside since it is a frozen crab cake - not fresh. When ask how things were, I pointed out that that crab cake was abit cool inside. The waiter wasn't sure what to do by his body language (really only have 2 options - cooking it more or start over) so I ask if they had a microwave and to put it in for just about 8 to 10 seconds which warmed the inside fine. So the crab cake was fair to OK - would I order it again - NO, mostly backfin meat which is hot a higher quality crab cake When the waiter bought the bill he did state that he talked to the manager and that 30% was taken off the bill - one couldn't ask for more since we had a few drinks on the table Our server had a assistance that seemed to help out wherever needed, so with this maybe addressing the service issue or just staffing heavy for the holiday season this year.

Came today at 320, ordered our drinks and food at the same time, at 345 drinks came at 400 food came I ordered meat loaf, good for the first 2 bites, when it was about room temperature, then it cooled off and was un-edible, my girlfriend had the ruben which she liked, my friend had the chicken sandwich which she only took about 3 bites out of. The chips were good, however the honey mustard was water with a little yellow color to it. The only good thing about it was the manager who was handling pretty much the entire dining room by himself. Will not come here again.

Went for the Holiday Lights buffet, was simply horrible. I would rather eat at Golden Coral or chop my feet off than eat here again. You would expect a decent dinner buffet (although I loath buffets) for $35 at a nice resort... guess again...

Meh. The only reason to go here is because you don't feel like leaving the hotel. Food is so-so. It won't kill you, but nothing is awesome. Enjoy the experience of staying at the lodge and mentally escaping, because the dining experience is not why you're here. Normal service expectations don't apply...you'd do well to tip up front and pretend like you're best friends with your server. I hate to say it, but Wheeling just doesn't know what a real restaurant experience should be....I don't blame the waitstaff, I blame the leadership who is hiring incompetent management. They clearly aren't traveling to a real city and bringing some 'best practice' back to the hill country. The workers are doing their best, but it's sub-par by any measure.

Save your money and go to the Highlands to eat!!! Terrible service and the food, if they get your order right is ok at best!!! Oh and the Club sandwich is NOT a club!!!

Sometimes it is difficult to articulate the precise angle in which bad service cuts through the heart and soul. Please save your money, time, and energy and save the aforementioned hard-earned commodities for another institution. I prefer to express myself in poetry in the most dire of times... The staff was rude, in the most humorless of mood(s), serving bad judgement and disappointing food. Alas, Oglebay, teach your wait staff the value of good judgement and compassion. Love conquers all. In the words of Ghandi, "compassion is a muscle that strengthens with use." In the words of Plato, "Be kind, for everyone you meet is fighting a harder battle." In the words of Anne Frank, "No one has ever been poor by giving." In the words of the Dalai Lama XIV, "Love and compassion are necessities, not luxuries. Without them, humanity cannot survive." I hope these precious words can aid a restaurant-wide reformation in judgement, discernment, and service.

So so food, not worth the money. Dirty menus, slow service. Kids drinks same cost as adult, ridiculous!

After waitressing here back in college (7 years ago), I was disappointed at the recent bad reviews. My family and I recently ate here and boy was it disappointing. The service was horrible and slow yet we were one of only two tables there. The servers just stood in a blob and talked to each other. The food came out all wrong. The waitress was snippy and made it obvious she was talking about us in her blob, even though we were nice, just needed our order fixed. It was just an awful experience and I am usually very easy going, patient, and understanding when I go out to eat especially here since I worked here many years ago, but this was just pathetic. I hope someone in management reads this and trys to fix things.

Mediocre food and a friendly staff who doesn't recognize the need for good service to accompany a smile.

Glassworks Grill - Ogelbay 8/11/14 Party of 4, 2 adults, 2 late teens Service was fairly quick, but not very personable. Atmosphere was decent and we didn't expect it to be very busy on a Monday evening.....it wasn't. As usual, drinks were served first. Fair selection of beer products though pricey. The price of one beer would get you a six pack from a store. No beer drinkers in the group. Mixed drinks even pricier. I opted out of the usual Rum & coke for $6.75. Soft drinks are $3.50 for a medium sized glass....hmmm. Only Pepsi products are served. For us Coke drinkers....a big downfall....for Pepsi drinkers a plus. None of the soft drinks tasted right. I sent my Siera mist back for a ginger-ale. Ginger-ale had the same chemical taste as the Mist. We all opted for water which tasted like it had old ice in it. Drinks....failure. Two from our party had side salads. They were rated fair with not much taste and they felt the produce was old. My wife likes French dressing....they don't have it. Dinners ordered: Lemon baked cod - 2. Come with fries and green beans. Fish had a crumb sprinkled breading and looked like it had seasoning on it. But both fish orders were absolutely tasteless. We all tried each other's food to see if people were tasting the same thing.....yep....we all tasted "nothing". Built to order hamburger - medium. Sizable burger on a pretzel bun. Bun was "mushy". My son kept adding condiments to give it some taste. Said all he could taste was the burnt outside of the burger. Center was indeed medium....but again, the burger was tasteless except for the condiments. I ordered a Grilled Almond Chicken salad. Grilled almonds, roast chicken strips, dried cherries, green apples, with an apple vinaigrette dressing. Much of the lettuce was wilted. The vinaigrette pretty much taste like applesauce and had that consistency, only watered down. Apples are out of season, so they didn't have much taste. Chicken very disappointing and again, had zero taste. It had the consistency of chicken, but totally tasteless. The dried cherries were the highlight of my meal and the only thing that had any taste to it. My wife didn't eat the fish, for fear there was something wrong with it. The waitress seeing this, discounted our check for the meal which was kind of her since we never asked for any kind of a discount. We cut our losses and won't be going back as this is the second bad experience at the same restaurant. In summary....simplify the food, hire someone that can make it palletable, and teach your waitresses and hosts to smile. They've got a captive audience with as larde as the lodge is, but left us running to Sheetz [only place open late] to fill our empty stomachs. Very dissappointing.

Went for dinner and had terrible service. Slow, unorganized, and unattentive. Manager was apologizing all over the place but not helping make things better. Staying in the lodge, we tried again the next night- same bad experience. WENT BACK A YEAR LATER, and expected to laugh at the same terrible experience... They somehow managed to make it worse. When our meal arrived before our appetizer I asked our waitress to cancel the appetizer...she said "what did you order?" as if it had never happened. (Standard customer service would be to comp it and still deliver it as an apology, or at least comp sodas or something.) We found it easier to wait in line at the bar for drink refills because no one in the joint was getting them otherwise. None of the staff were working together. The food was always good- it's a shame no one knows how to run the dining room!!!

Was wary. Preceding reviews (and one subpar dining experience) brought concerns. Pleased to say the service was exceptional. Quoted 45 minutes seating time; took under 30. Drinks in table before entree order. Meals served roughly 30 minutes after seating. Bacon Brie burger was satisfying and well-prepared if uninspiring. Chicken pomegranate salad was perfectly prepared and presented. Overall a surprisingly excellent sup at the Glass Works, even during Festival of Lights.

We were racking our brains for a good choice for New Year's Day dinner, realized that we'd not visited GlassWorks for at least a year, so gave it a try. Good choice! GlassWorks has a new, simpler menu and serves some of the best food I've had in Wheeling. We really liked the grilled margarita pizza and the wild mushroom pizza. The side dinner salad was a surprisingly large bowl of baby lettuce leaves with cucumber and tomatoes. The kids said that the fries were among the best they'd had in some time. Unfortunately the service still is slow and inattentive. Go for the food and know that you won't be spending money on the tip.

Waited for an hour - understandable since its the busy season. We ordered an appetizer to share and had to ask for some plates after it was brought out. We had the potstickers which were good, although were a little burnt. A set of silverware was dirty - it took asking 3 times to get a clean set. Ordered unsweetened iced tea - got sweet tea. I ordered the inside out burger which is supposed to be stuffed with chorizo and cheddar. The burger came out with nothing stuffed in it. Sent the burger back, got an over done burger which did have some stuffing, but very little. There definitely wasn't any real taste of the spicy chorizo that you would expect. They also didn't give any fries on the remade burger but did include a pickle. The waitress made no attempt to re-mediate the issue and didn't come back to ensure than the remade burger was any better. I ended up asking another server who was walking by to get the manager who also doubles as the host. He did apologize and took the burger off of the check. I'll definitely look for other options the next time I am in the area.

One of the worst dining experiences I ever had. We had to wait at least 45 minutes for our meals and I was starving. I ordered the tuna melt with a side of fries. The menu stayed that it would he an open face whole wheat English muffin with 3 cheeses. I almost did not order the fries because I thought it would be too much food. The meal looked to be a smaller portion than a children's meal. It was a mini muffin with a tablespoon of tuna on it and the thinnest slice of cheese ever imaginable. The fries were very limited in number also. The service was fair minus and I hope to never have to frequent this establishment again.
