This place is the best! They have the best wings around. I always say that if I lived near here I would come here every day. The service is very fast even when they are busy. The wings here have to be the best in the world. P.S. Make sure you reserve a table if you are coming on a Friday or Saturday because it can get busy. Even when it's busy food still arrives quickly.

Drovers is a weekly dinner spot. It can serve as great "date" or family atmosphere. The food is always delicious and the service is spot on. Though, we go at least once a week, we never feel neglected for being regulars. If you want a real treat, you can sit downstairs. It provides such a rustic, good-time feel. It feels like the first time every time we go; we are always pleasantly surprised. :) Thanks Drovers and staff for being the best!

Ok, so the wings are amazing, obviously, as so many previous reviewers have already said. Let me clue you on to a lesser-known treasure: the deep fried ravioli. Crispy on the outside, gooey and slightly spicy on the inside. Dip them in the side of cocktail sauce provided (weird, but it works.) You'll forget the wings even exist. Drover's is always a fun trip. We love the outside seating area. It gives a little more elbow room, and cold beer and wings on a porch is a magical combination.

Sometimes I think it's only the nostalgia of the wings I ate in highschool....but it's really not. These are simply the best wings I've ever had in my life. I've lived in 3 major cities, 2 of them being the largest in the country, and still have not found wings that compare to this tiny little former Inn in rural West Virginia. This place used to be an Inn from the 1800s and has lovely antiques adorning the walls. The placemat is a copied newspaper clipping from the Inn's heyday. You order by the pound and they are quite possibly the largest wings I've ever seen presented at a restaurant. Their sauces are near perfection and while you won't find as many choices as a "wing stop" or "Quaker steak", it doesn't matter because the ones available are incredibly delicious. Also try the hot pepper cheese balls! This place is worth the drive if you are nearby, for sure.

I could write a novel here about how much I LOVE Drovers, I've been coming here for over 20 years. But I"ll keep this short and sweet. #1. If I'm ever offered a "Last Meal" for any reason. Drovers is where I'll request my food. Large Honey BBQ, Seasoned Fries w/cheese & cajun, and of course an order of Hot Pepper Cheeseballs. #2. Anyone that posts on here that places like BW's, Quaker Steak, Etc have "Better Wings" than Drovers. Were obviously born without working taste buds and should be stripped of their YELP Account. I'm not knocking those places but they simply just can't compete. I've been around the world twice. So I feel comfortable saying Drovers has the best Wings on the PLANET.

Like all the others have said BEST WINGS!! French Fries with cheese and bacon makes me want to strip naked and roll around in them LOL.
(5)John M.
I'm not a HUGE wing guy, but these are EASILY the best wings I have EVER had. I'm sure a lot of people agree with just how good they truly are. I've eaten here twice, ordered different flavors of wings both times, and was equally blown away at how good the wings were on those two visits. The atmosphere is just as good. A home, converted into a restaurant makes you feel like you're sitting at your own dinner table. I cannot shine enough light on this place. If you are ever anywhere near Drover's Inn, do not miss out on the opportunity (go out of your way even) to snag up some wings, and enjoy the godliness of a ridiculous flavored experience.

I really enjoyed this place. Love the fact that it's an old home. I sat by the window on the main level. I had wings with the Asian sauce and the suicide sauce. I also had jalapeño poppers and peach cobbler. Everything was very good. And everything came out very fast.
(5)Amanda B.
They are known for their wings so if you get anything else, you are just silly. A bit pricy for wings, but worth it. I recommend the buffalo garlic and the honey barbecue. Make sure you make reservations too or you will have to wait. Make a trip to the basement even if you don't need anything from the bar. It's a cool atmosphere with huge stone walls and an antique feel and smell. Basic beer selection. Don't get too excited.

Best wings, period!!!!!!! My favorite bar food restaurant since I was 16!!! Starting with the perfect crunchy hot Cajun wings, the best chili cheese Cajun fries!! Appetizers of stuffed Jalapeno poppers, Hot Pepper Cheese Balls, fried Raviloi, Onion Rings. They also have some really good BBQ!! And for the finale, the Chocolate Cobbler is heaven on a plate!!! It's actually a house turned restaurant, the downstairs is like a German Beer Garden, all styles of steins and mugs hanging from the ceiling, stone floor, dimly lit, and where the bar is found. The upstairs is like being at home where you can eat your wings or eat from a traditional buffet. My favorite hangout for over 30 years.

Best. Wings. Ever. Once you try them, you'll have crazy cravings all the time. I also love the fried zucchini and steak fries (add the cheese!) Drover's is truly a gem and such a treat each time I'm in the area. Make a reservation ahead of time.
(5)Kellie D.
Great place to stay while visiting the Steins!
(4)Beci B.
If I had one last meal, it would be Drovers! The jalapeño bottle caps are an excellent starter to be followed by the excellent wings. I've had almost every flavor but original hot is by far the best. However, word to the wise is to CALL AHEAD! Otherwise you are looking at a 2 hour wait . The restaurant is very small and somewhat cramped but you'll overlook it for the food.

The first time I had wings in my life it was here, while visiting my husband's family (I used to be vegetarian). I loooooved them and thought "Wow, I guess I really like wings". Then I kept ordering them at other places and was disappointed and confused. I realize now what happened. Drover's has the literal absolute best wings on the face of the planet and I didn't know I was starting with the best. Know what else they have the best of? Steak fries. Honestly, I love everything about Drover's. I live in Brooklyn now, the hippest place on earth, and if Drover's was there I'd go all the time. This place is not "good for a small town", it's NYC good. It's better than NYC good because I've never had wings that good in NYC. I also love the basement bar. It's kind of German beer cellar-y, but cozier and really unique. Good beer selection (for a small town, not for Brooklyn, of course). They have Sam Smith Oatmeal Stout in bottles which is one of my all-time faves! Thanks, Drover's, for giving me an awesome place to go when I'm visiting Wellsburg!!
(5)Matt E.
Yo drovers is aite. Wings are good service is good, and the lil tavern in the basement makes you feel like a hobbit bro. I dig it.
(4)TJ D.
Best wings! Great atmosphere. Love the basement bar. Drover's has a lot of other great food....broasted chicken is excellent. But Drover's is all about the wings! Family-like service.

If one day an alien shows up and says to me "Feed me the greatest wings in the known universe or I shall destroy your planet and all things you hold dear!", then I'm taking that alien to Drover's Inn. It's humanity's last, best chance. Seriously though, the buffalo chicken wings here are the finest I have ever had. Better than Duff's, The Anchor Bar and all those other places in Buffalo. I've been there and eaten them, they are not as good. I'm not joking, the wings are truly amazing. I was introduced to this establishment while attending Washington and Jefferson for college. I now live in Pittsburgh and still regularly travel here to have the wings and introduce the place to new friends. I have never ordered anything else on the menu, aside from sharing some appetizers with friends. The basement bar is a nifty place to eat wings. The service is always perfect and the prices are great. I can't recommend this place highly enough.
(5)Lynda Y.
I have been here many many times over the years...in fact I remember the upstairs was a buffet, when it was run by former owners...l can't explain why I want yo eat in a dirty basement, but thats what I do. Wings are good, an fried zucchini is really good go with...lots of draft beer, an the celler doesn't look so bad...always crowded... We go at 4 usually to beat the crowd
(4)Raleigh M.
I'm lucky enough to live in this city just for the fact I can eat drovers whenever I please. These wings are unlike anything you will ever have considering all the sauces are secret. People who like very hot food, "Myself included", try the hurt me wings. Although they are very hot the sauce is precisely seasoned with many different ingredients that leave your taste buds wondering. Truly beautiful place with an exquisite dining experience. Be sure to call in for reservations because the likely hood of you getting a table without are slim to none. If anything try eating in the cellar with old antique decorations cluttering the walls. Enjoy :)
(5)Dawn T.
Great food! Outstanding service! My first visit and I definitely intend to return back to try the wings!
(4)Lizzie D.
I love it at Drovers! I'm not a wing person, as crazy as that is to admit, but even I have to say that their wings are awesome! You can dictate all aspect of your wings, including the way it is fried. I sat in the Red Room ( droversinn1848.com/resta… ) and loved the ambiance! No where else can you go to an antique house and enjoy a meal. It feels like an unending restaurant located in Grandma's living room! I got the fried ravioli appetizer- it was wonderful! Also, be sure to check out the tavern downstairs! Pictures don't do it justice! I went down there just to see it and felt like I was walking down the steps in an old basement and when I looked around, I felt like I was in a dark tavern. Totally one of a kind experience. I cannot wait to go back to this place. Although it is an hour away, I will gladly drive there just to experience the restaurant again, it is just that unique!!! :-)

5 Stars for the wings, never tried anything else. You may have a wait depending on what time you come in. It is an old Inn type of place, very homey. But the wings are amazing, they are comparble to Quaker Steak style wings. I was shocked how great they tasted, they have many different sauces to fit anyones taste. If you are in the area, these wings are worth the drive.
(5)Scott R.
If its wings your looking for, look no further. Fried pickles are also a personal favorite of mine!
(5)Josh N.
Drover's is just about what you would expect from an Inn or bar style restaurant. The scenery is rustic and country and the overall 'theme' of the restaurant is very consistent throughout. It is not a fine dining restaurant and does not try to be. Drover's is a great place to take a small to medium sized group. The service is friendly and usually prompt. I haven't had any food that I didn't like at Drover's. There are some things that are better than others but there are no specific menu items to avoid. Most people go for the wings. It is what they are primarily known for and they do not disappoint. I enjoy good wings and have them different places from time to time but I have never considered myself a 'wing person.' Even with that being said, I still order wings 8/10 times. There are enough sauce/flavor options to please anyone and the portions are will not leave you hungry. Other food items to note would be the fries that are available with a variety of toppings. While I don't particularly enjoy my fries swimming in gravy I do enjoy the cheese and other options. They do have a full bar and a descent selection of beer. The actual bar in the basement is very interesting and worth a visit. The basement is just what you would expect from the cellar of an old inn. The exposed rock and lower lighting really set the atmosphere. The only thing I'm not a fan of is the drive in in-climate weather. The roads aren't as well taken care of the closer you get to Drover's. This hasn't stopped us from getting our favorite wings though!

I want to start off by saying that I reserve my 5-star ratings for only those places that I consider to have the absolute best in any given category. For hot wings, Drover's is head and shoulders above any other wing establishment, and it really isn't close. Everytime I travel here, there is at least one moment where I think to myself, "Wow, I wish so-and-so were here to experience this." Tucked into the hills of West Virginia's northern panhandle, the Inn itself is an absolute treat and adds to the allure. The main floor has a charming dining room which is perfect for larger parties. They have recently added a rear dining area and bar which does not quite fit with the rest of the 1848 farmhouse. I usually try to avoid this area in order to appreciate the entire package. If I have my choice, I immediately head straight for the basement bar. An 1800's cellar bar with countless mugs hanging from the low-hanging ceiling provide the perfect environment for what are the best wings you will ever have in your life. You feel as if you are transported back in time for the simple task of enjoying a fine pint with friends. None of these reviews are exaggerating. Grab a bucket of wings, fried-dill pickles, cheese fries, and a beer. Worry about your coronaries later, and enjoy transcendence.
(5)Pete C.
Best wings anywhere! Drive from Pittsburgh to get these things. Try med. heat with Cajun seasoning and get the seasoned cheese fries with Cajun seasoning too. Don't forget a pitcher or 2 and you will def. be back. CHECK THEIR HOURS before going, the keep a weird schedule.
(5)Mare M.
This is a GREAT place for causal food with good friends !! Downstairs is the best place to eat!! The bartenders and waitresses (Dave, Kari, and Candace) are the best and will never leave you unattended !!! LOVE this place and ALL of the food is GREAT ... never a disappointment.
(5)Candice W.
Not as great as all the reviews have said. Not " Jumbo Wings" like they said. I had high expectations reading the reviews and was super excited to try the wings. Buffalo Wild Wings have better wings. Disappointing.
(2)Russell F.
Best wings and blue cheese around.
(5)Katie R.
Wings ordered by the pound. What an amazing concept. This is one of those situations when people are flat out lying when they tell you size doesnt matter. IT DOES! These wings are huge (biggest I've ever had... thats what she said). They have a variety of sauces, all absolutely PERFECT! I am a lover of wings, I have sampled many, when I say these are the best, its the truth. Fact. Solid. So they do this thing, inspired only by God I am quite sure. They allow you to order your wings extra cripsy. Holy gaucamole! Yum! Amazing. Then they have these fabulous fried pickle spears with southwest ranch for dipping. um, yeah, I dont even know how to further describe them. You may not find yourself in Wellsburg often, or you may have to go out of your way to get there, but if only for the sake of some amazing wings do it. go there.
(5)Jennifer J.
Drover's hands down has the best hot wings you will ever devour in your entire life. The fact that Drovers is in the middle of nowhere makes it that much better.
(5)Mark W.
I went there this evening with high expectations based upon reading everyone's else reviews and that was a bad thing. The wings were average at best, Buffalo Wild Wings are much better. Everyone else needs to try BW3 s and then come back here and I bet theiir reviews wouldn't be as high. Try it!
(2)Steve R.
Hands down - best wings I've ever had! I went to college nearby and make it a point to go to drovers's at least once every trip!
(5)Big Pun Y.
If I could have one of those hypothetical dinners with anyone in history... Jesus, Lincoln, my great-great-great grandfather, etc... this is where we'd eat. Wings are ordered by the pound. Two pounds are plenty for an average diner. All the flavors are great, but if you are a wing-lover, go with one of the Buffalo temps. The cheese fries are a must. The cheddar cheese hardens atop a basket of waffle or steak fries. If you want to order like a veteran... ask for the fries to come out early accompanied by a side of honey BBQ sauce for dipping. I always order Two-Pounds of Hot and a pound of Honey BBQ to-go. The dining room upstairs is uniquly tucked in the shell of an old home. It's perfect for larger groups -- and the ambiance is a talking point for first timers. If you're going with just a couple pals or with your Mrs. -- I highly recommend the basement bar. It's dark, rustic and always packed. Like a great movie -- I don't want to give away too much in the preview. This place is worth the drive for diner from any surrounding city. 30 minutes from Wheeling. About an hour from Pittsburgh. And around 2 and a half from Cleveland -- trust me, I think about it.
(5)Mike B.
BEST CHICKEN WINGS EVER... ANYWHERE!! I try to visit this place whenever we go visit my in-laws, and I LOVE it! The wings are big, and so is the flavor. I'm also a fan of the cheese fries (even added bacon to them last time thanks to a recommendation from my father-in-law). They were spectacular. The restaurant itself (an old inn) is pretty cool as well. Check it out, and you won't be disappointed!!
(5)Chris W.
Drover's is awesome. They have the best wings ever. They are always crisp and hot. The bottle caps are really good too. I highly recommend this place.
(5)Norma B.
Best wings in the world! They are really worth it though and yes, this place is in the middle of nowhere. The dining room is gorgeous, but they recently added on a cafe area that is not quite up to par.
(4)aimee t.
Perfect wings, amazing cheese fries and a great atmosphere. Drover's is a little bit off the beaten path in what seems to be an old house decorated with relics from years gone by. They call themselves an Inn, and if lodging were available, it would definitely play the part of a country inn on the road to somewhere. The downstairs features what i picture when i hear about pubs in "the old country": low rafters, mismatched tables, beer steins hanging off the ceiling. it's a great place, but you will find yourself eating many more cheesefries than you though possible!
