Mexican Cuisine
If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.
Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.
Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.

We stopped here on our way back to Morgantown from Hinton, WV. I thought the place was fantastic. The food was exactly the kind of Mexican food I love (and missed after living two years in Hawaii). The drinks (fountain and iced tea) come in very big cups, we didn't even need a refill. We would definitely stop again, service was fast and friendly and prices were reasonable.

Some of the worst customer service I've experienced in a long time. The hostess was on the phone when I walked in the door. Never stopped talking as he motioned me to a table and dropped the menu. I sat there for 5 minutes and came within a nano second of walking out. The waiter was a little better but not a man of many words. The food came out extremely fast which was the only plus. Flavor, portions and price were mediocre. I wasn't impressed and doubt I'll stop back in.

Very good. Just stopped in here to watch the selection show. 3 pacificos a large margarita and 6 tacos for 22 bucks? Deal. And the food was okay. Meat could have seasoned a little better but can't beat the price!

Stopped on road trip for lunch. Food was tasty and authentic. We had the beef fajitas and the Mexican dish (with shrimp) in the volcanic dish. Portions were ample. Took the left overs for a snack later. Was close to route 19 and just after we crossed the New River Gorge single arch bridge. Nice find.

I go here every chance that I get and I live close. The salsa and chips are the best out of the 4 mexican restaurants I have visited in this area. I have never managed to get past the chili releno just have to have one of those when I stop in. A great place to eat with friends.

Not great. We're from St. Louis and were staying in Summersville for a wedding over the weekend. The first night we were there I had a craving for Mexican, and this place was right by our hotel, so we thought we'd give it a try. Unfortunately, we should have looked elsewhere. When we walked in the host showed us to our table by throwing the menus on the table and promptly walking away, never saying a word. The chips and salsa were okay, but my enchiladas were covered in a chili (as in a warm bowl of chili) sauce instead of the normal Mexican enchilada sauce. The rice and beans were the saving grace of the meal, and our server was actually nice to us, as compared to the person who seated us. All in all, we will not be visiting La Carreta's again if we are ever in the area. Big disappointment.

I know this will come as a shock to most people, but La Carreta in Summersville is actually a very, very good Mexican restaurant! I know, I know it's in the middle of rural WV, but it's definitely one of the best restaurants in the area. My favorite is the carne asada tacos and any of the fajitas are great as well. The service is usually very good and fast! And since it's a small town, there isn't usually a wait!

I was surprised to hear that there was a non-chain mexican restaurant in such a small town like Summersville, WV, and even more surprised when I discovered that the food was delicious too! The salsa and chips were amazing...I could not stop eating them, even though I knew I had ordered a large meal. I love cheese dip at mexican restaurants and will judge a restaurant by their cheese dip. The cheese dip here was great - I ended up putting it on everything - dipping my chips in them and pouring them in my taco, on my tostada, on my tamale, and enchilada (I wasn't kidding when I said I ordered a large meal). This is definitely worth a visit if you're ever in the area.
