It's all about the art. The food is fine. Excellent fish and chips. The tea service is charming. Staff pretty casual, but fine. Don't let the shop's name give you the wrong impression. This is NOT a prissy place. More like a hang out for students. BUT THE ART IS ALWAYS NEW AND INTERESTING.

A unique bar for a unique town. A coworker and myself went there for lunch after I ran into a friend on the street who said I had to try it. It's a very small place, cute bar. Definitely older and has that rustic feel. The menu has a lot of great choices. From tuna melts to bangers and mash. I got the tuna melt. Aside from the fact the tuna was cold, with half melted cheese, it was really good. The French fries are clearly hand cut and had great flavor. My coworker got the fish and chips. She said the fish was cooked perfectly and the batter was amazing. The service was good. The waiter was really friendly and seemed to genuinely liked his job. The food took a little longer than I expected. (Between 13-15 minutes) but it was nicely presented. I'll definitely. Be going back. I really want to try the Reuben, and the desserts looked so so yummy.

Great food, very slow drink and food service, crazy crazy prices! 102.90 for burger, salad, 3 rail vodak's 3 rail captain and cokes. The drinks were $12.00 each! $72.0 for week drinks, Extra for fries with your burger, and terrible salad for my wife.

No doubt this is a great bar! My first impression wasn't so great but, I've heard great things so I didn't want to give up. Service could be better and more friendly but, I might have been around on an off night. Great pints!!

Honestly, the place is s bit small and you're not sure what to expect at first. The fish and chips are terrific and the Rubin is authentic. Besides the good food and the bar guitar, the bartender Danny is absolutely makes the place. He's a wise cracking smart ass who won our hearts. Stop in for the food but stop in for Danny. Leave that boy a BIG tip - he's worth it!!!

Just stopped in and had the best time I have had in a long time! If I lived locally this would be my "regal beagle"! The owner Caroline is the best! The banoffe pie is the best. If you are looking for a place to enjoy fish and chips and a pint, this is the place! Entrees and desserts from scratch! I will be coming back again!

Awesome place... Not fancy but food is great and service is beyond expectations.Danny at the bar is amazing... He does everything.. Bar service, table service, cashier... And he knows the menu- how it's made, what it is and whether you'll like it. And he's easy on eyes ;). We will definitely be back!

The "dev" is a small British style pub. It's small but very fitting for Shepherdstown. It can sometimes be difficult to find a spot at the bar but that being said I've never had a bad experience there. Bartenders are pretty laid back and the owner is there most days to mingle. Typically go for the bar/beer but I have eaten there once or twice. If you're not into British cuisine then I would eat before I came but everything I've had has been great. Their fries are excellent! If you're looking for drinks more advanced than a jack and coke you may have to explain how to make it, but other than that no complaints.

This is definitely a quirky restaurant in a quirky town. We were greeted by a woman in her 50s who was quite the atypical hostess. She was talking with other people almost as if she was in a group of her friends. After a brief but awkward exchange, we sat down. Our server was in his mid 20s and offered to make us snake bites(Guinness and Hard Cider), almost as if he felt bad for their tap beer offering. There was a giant sign out front that said "It's Banger time." Indeed it was. The meal too a strange turn when a man with a parrot on his shoulder walked in and the bird squawked the entire time. Could have done without that.

Good place to sit down and grab a beer, the people that worked there were really laidback and easygoing. You can play dart here which is cool. They also had a special shot you should ask for pretty cool, young clientell

The "Dev," as it is called by locals, is a quaint and adorable little restaurant. There's a comforting home-like feel to the place, even more so when the owner, Carolyn, takes time to greet and get to know her new customers. My favorite items on the menu would have to be the Bangers and Mash, and the Portobello Sandwich which is served on homemade foccacia bread with cheese and pesto sauce. Delicious! And so is their sausage gravy. It's also a great little place to stop by on wing night. And there's often a band on Friday and Saturday evenings. Check it out!

My wife and I had a great late Sunday dinner here. Fish and chips that are the best around. Fish had a nice crispy coating and the chips made from fresh potatoes. Also tried the pasty and salad, wonderful fresh crust and tasty filling, simple salad that was the perfect match. Will be visiting again in the future.

Cool spot. Owner is a nice British woman who was sitting at the bar and chatting with customers. The bartender was really nice and the service was quick and efficient. They have around 12 taps with a pretty good mix of beers, including local micros and UK standards. Very casual, bordering on divey, but I like that. They also have a decent menu with some UK mainstays (fish and chips, bangers and mash, shepherd's pie, etc...). I had the bangers and mash, which were good.

Very very slow. I ordered a burger, fries and a turkey Sandwich over 30 minutes later and still no food and the place is empty so no excuse.

Simple decor but nice homey feel. Good variety of beer on tap (local micro brews plus Boddington's !). Stopped in for lunch mid week - delicious quiche and salad and my husband had the chefs salad . All fresh, homemade and tasty. Friendly, accommodating service.

Devonshire looks like it might be a fun place for night life but the food leaves a lot to be desired. It wasn't completely bad but the prices were high for what amounted to slightly better than fast food. I might go back but only for a drink.
