Great restaurant. Unexpected treat. Had the seared ahi tuna. It was cooked perfectly with a spicy coating. Salad was good and I had the Maryland cream of crab soup that was also very good. When you are near Ripley on I-79 be sure to stop here. The proprietors are very friendly too. We skipped dessert because we were in our way to a meeting but the choices sounded excellent.

I started with the Maryland crab soup. Loved the taste. My entree was the salmon. It was a large portion, ordered medium done. It was cooked perfectly and delicious. The salad with raspberry vinaigrette was excellent. The southern style green beans was also a large portion but tasted somewhat bland. I tried the Timberland pale ale from Elkins and was surprised by its flavorfull taste. Overall I loved the meal and would certainly eat there more often if it were less expensive.

What a great little place. My husband and I both had the seafood chowder. We both liked it. I had ahi tuna that was cooked to perfection. Their fried shrimp was cooked properly also. We were just passing through but would stop again.

In a word, outstanding in every respect. I HAVE NO IDEA WHY THE GOOD PEOPLE OF RIPLEY, WV WEREN'T THERE IN DROVES ON A SATURDAY NIGHT!! The restaurant was EMPTY. C'mon people, SUPPORT YOUR LOCAL BUSINESSES!! OK, rant finished. The food.... So, so good. The 8oz crab cake was perfect - lots of crab and broiled. Grilled zucchini and yellow squash were really good. Others at my table got the 12oz ribeye which was really tasty and served with a huge baked potato, the blackened grouper, the red pepper crab soup, steamed shrimp appetizer, deep fried dill pickles. Meals were served with homemade rice pilaf and veggies, plus a fresh salad. Then we got dessert. Yikes. All homemade and large portions. The key lime pie was outstanding. Carrot cake and brownie were also very good as well. I loved the nautical theme and music on the small patio. The menus are handwritten on copy paper, and the drinks are written on 3x5 card and inserted into the napkin holders on the tables. The tables are mismatched and look like they came from people's homes. I really liked the ingenuous king table made from a door! Love. The next time (if there is a next time, we were passing through) we will definitely stop again. OH! One more thing... It's also a really, really clean place! I noticed how clean it was right off.

So, I am performing chauffeur services for my Mother's annual snowbird flight, and it's lunchtime. And I am on I-77 in the middle of Northern WV. And my mom does not want hearty home cooked fare. She sure does not want BBQ. And shame on you for mentioning Arby's. Nope, my Mom wants soup. "Not something out of a can, either, AC". While it is for such dilemmas Yelp was created, I cannot drive and surf. I am over 50; I don't have those skills. Sooo, I have to use memory of snowbird trips past. And recall a seafood place in the middle of Ripley, which, when I stopped before, had a slightly faded hippy feel, but tasted ok. And so I went. Mom, unfortunately, remembered too. "Oh, that place. Really, AC." I reminded her she wanted homemade soup. Would she prefer Arby's? I opened the door. I always open the door for my Mother. Major redecoration. Now it is a lovely space with exposed bricks, an open high ceiling, and tastefully decorated with the owners seafoody nick nacks. Then we order the soup. Mom goes for seafood bisque. I have the crab soup. Excellent flavors, good texture. Ample portion. But look out, you do not get much of a discount for location. Mom was happy and I was impressed. I hope the good people of Ripley (who were not much in evidence for Saturday lunch) keep patronizing this place, so I can keep Mom happy for future I 77 trips. If you need seafood soups while driving through wv, come here.

Man was this a good find. We wanted fish and found this place on Yelp while traveling and were glad that we did. If I traveled this way more often I would most defiantly stop back in.

Went here for a business dinner. I was very impressed by the decor and ambiance of the restaurant to begin with. Really made one feel at home. The staff was very nice and the food was delicious. If I am ever back in town for a vacation or social visit I will be back.

I don't know why I expected better. Maybe it was the reviews that I read or the prices on the menu but I expected more. The menu was limited and kind of overpriced for Ripley West Virginia. There was one choice of vegetable and if you didn't like it there was no substitute. I order the mahi mahi and found it to be over cooked. The baked potato was fine but it came wrapped in aluminum foil. The salad consisted of wilted romaine lettuce, two slices of tomato and two slices of cucumber. I asked to have my salad without onions or cheese. On the plus side, the beer was cold and the bartender was very friendly. The restaurant looked clean and there was parking in front of the restaurant. All in all I thought the meal was just ok but a little overpriced.

Super yummy crab cakes and she crab soup. Fantastic brownie with ice cream! Weaker calamari and ahi tuna appetizer. Nice service.

We stopped by this place for dinner on our road trip home. The first thing I noticed was that many items were priced "market price." I understand that pricing for things like lobster, but since when has the price of rib eye steak fluctuated so wildly that you can't set a price? I ordered one of that evening's specials -- stuffed scallops. I started with a dinner salad. It was fine, but the blue cheese dressing wasn't all that good. Next, I had a cup of cream of crab soup. It was quite tasty after I added salt and pepper. The scallops were good. Tender, not overcooked. It was topped with a crabmeat topping that was suffering from a serious case of "no seasoning-itis." Luckily, there was old bay seasoning on the table. I managed to doctor it up a bit. The broccoli on the side was fresh and not overcooked. Hubby had the 16oz ribeye and said it was good. I would definitely return, considering the lack of options in Ripley, WV. That said, I would recommend (1) avoiding the blue cheese dressing and (2) that you don't expect much in the way of seasonings.

I went to visit a friend in West Virginia and he told me that if I love crab cakes that we have to stop at Crabby Patti's. Let me tell you that it was by far the best crab cake I have ever had!!!! They were moist, very flavorful, and cooked perfectly. They even told me that they went to Maryland in order to get the best crab. It was also great that they were so attentive to us when we came in. I had a great conversation with Patti while I ate, and the place definitely had a great home town feel.

The restaurant is open for dinner Thursday and Friday nights until 7.30 or so. I am not sure about the rest of the week. It is well worth the three minute drive from the interstate exit (#138) to avoid chain food. Because the menu is limited, the service is very quick. You order at the counter and the food is delivered to your table. As the menu varies, I don't have a favorite. All of the soups that I have tried are spicy and tasty. The shrimp alfredo dish has a large quantity of tender shrimp, but the pasta was a bit overcooked. The spicy shrimp and rice is almost too spicy, but I am not going to complain. One evening I had a warm sliced tuna steak on top of a Caesar salad. The tuna was cooked as requested and very tender. It was as good as I could hope.

Ah, northwest West Virginia. Home of ramp festivals, sweet table wine, mountaintop removal...and crabcakes? Right. Er. So you see why I avoided Crabby Patti's for about five years when visiting the relatives in Ripley. I grew up orbiting the 10 yard distance of my aunt and uncle's home every summer just a few blocks away, and like many of their Great generation, they do not eat out a lot, and when they do, it's at a tried-and-true chain family restaurant conveniently located at the perimeter of either the Charleston mall or Parkersburg mall. And now I regret that I passed up Crabby Patti's and her lovingly decorated restaurant/bar in the town square many a time before bringing my new beau, Lost Boy, home to West Virginia to meet the family--and we stepped into Patti's because we needed a drink. No, just kidding! Yeah, no. We needed a drink. I was pleasantly pleasantly pleasantly surprised. Patti and her husband hail from Maryland (hollah!) where they met when she tended bar (breaking one of her brother's cardinal rules of bartending, but so far it's worked out). They stripped the inside of this former department store (to find, among other time capsules, a catalogue from the year her mother was born, if I have the story right--I was on my third glass of red Zin). The exposed brick tastefully complements the repurposed church door-dining tables (here's a big visual clue that this place is not run by locals--I just can't see my family seeing this as a good or respectful move), and cutesy crab-themed knick-knacks adorn most surfaces to convince you that Crabby Patti's is a little bit of the eastern shore (or as our former governor Schaeffer once called it, the 'outhouse of Maryland'). The rub: The fish tacos were delicious, and didn't smack of freezer burn. The wine selection includes a couple from local local winery (?) and so the high priced items suddenly made sense--Patti is serving actual fresh seafood, as far as this diner could ascertain. Upstairs, they've renovated the space as an event space--with restrained decorating touches and modern appliances for catering. Nope, they didn't pay me to write this. Lost Boy and I just passed a good evening there, up until and a little bit past closing time, when Patti's husband lit his cigar and Patti poured herself a glass.

Best place in Ripley to eat! Visiting family we tried Crabby Patties, food was great and Barbie's service was outstanding. Prices are a bit higher, but worth every penny. We showed up about 20 minutes before closing and ask if we had time to eat. No problem food was great. Crab tasted very fresh and burger was really good. Highly recommend

I followed the advice of trying the crab cake, and it was amazing! Wife had the Rueben and it was done up perfectly. We live 45 mins away, and this place has quickly become one of our favorite restaraunts. Great ambiance, great food, great staff. A++++

Got a tuna melt and I almost couldn't stand to eat it. Hard buns, cold cheese, looked and tasted like canned tuna. And as a side? A bag of Lay's potato chips. I paid eight dollars for this travesty. Super overpriced. Good atmosphere though.
