A wonderful restaurant! My dad and I would always go together. We would always get the mango boneless wings and they were delicious! The bread they serve you is great too. For my meal, my favorite was a steak that they have. All of the food was amazing there. The staff was very friendly and helpful. You never had to wait too long to get food, even during the main lunch hour. They only have a few tables and chairs since it's a smaller place, but I never had to wait to get sat.

Have been going here since it opened and it never disappoints. Chef Tere is a sweetheart who always comes out to say hello when she sees "my" order come back hah :)

Not a bad place to eat. It's very clean and tidy, which I really appreciate. The food was good and unique. I'd love to explore the menu further. The problem is value. The portion sizes are very small for the price. I'd be perfectly happy to pay less for the same portions, or pay the same for portions of about double the size. The food is well prepared, but the ingredients used are not by any means exotic enough to justify the pricing. I would rate this as three or even four stars if the pricing was reasonable. My wife and I visited on a weekday afternoon and were the only patrons.

Stopped in with a friend on a Friday afternoon. Had the shredded chicken arepas (Yum!) and fried plantains which were both excellent. The service was great especially considering we were two ladies with a 14 month old who needed a high chair. Nice hot beverages too. Had a chai latte which was great. Not the fanciest of places, but would definitely return without a second thought.

This is the only place in wv where I can find tostones and empandas. The food is good and the prices are reasonable.

So update based on my last few visits... Food is still good. They overload with shredded cheese, but you can ask for it on the side. But then that leads to the reason for the 2-star review revision... They always forget to put the cheese on the side. Service has gotten slow recently. It was never speedy, but it consistently takes an hour to get out of there. Maybe its a Latin thing? Today's visit was a failure on a few sides: 4 of us for lunch, arrive around 12:40. We wait about 3 or 4 minutes for them to clear a table and sit. 3-4 minutes go by and waitress tends to us; we order drinks and lunch at the same time. One coworker just ordered an app (Caribbean nachos) for lunch, something that is normal as it is very similar to the plantain lunch dish. That is all he ordered, so it should have been an indication that it was for him, not to come out first as an app. But she didn't ask. Other coworker orders chicken breast dish. About 25-30 minutes go by, and she comes back and apologizes that they just ran out of the chicken breast. She offers to switch with steak, fish or shrimp. He goes for the steak. 10 minutes more go by, now approaching being seated for 40 minutes, and she comes out with the coworkers app dish. Only. His blank stare makes her ask "Did you want that as your meal?". He says yes, which wouldn't this be obvious as he didn't order anything else? Oh well, he wins his food first. But, he can't eat it because has no utensils. He flags her down after a few minutes and gets that covered. NOW would be a good time for her to bring over EVERYONE's silverware, right? No, just his. He asked for the cheese on the side. The salad was covered in cheese. Enough to make a dairy cow groan. She apologizes and heads off. She returns and asks about refilling drinks, and says the steak has 4 or 5 more minutes. A flank steak should only take 5 minutes to cook. Another bad sign. Right about the hour mark, the rest of the food arrives. The chicken-gone-steak comes out rare. Not uncooked, but still cold enough to be pretty bloody when you cut it. Why? Oh, right, she didn't ask what temp to cook it. What is even worse is the cook cooked it without either asking what temp or having the server go find out. Since we were so late in the game, he just ate it. It stopped mooing after a few bites. The other dishes were fine. We finished and waited. And waited. And waited while the server cleared some tables and chatted, until we finally asked for the check and she says we can get it done up at the register.. Which is normal, except they generally GIVE us the check at the table. We each paid. No one was offered a real "I'm sorry for taking up 1:20 of your day" or, what I expected, was for them to take off the chicken-gone-rare-steak off the bill. At least they charged the original $10 for the swapped steak (which is $13). I like the food here, but the service has never been stellar and now that they are kinda busy it really has gone downhill. I noticed they're charging 50 cents hot sauce, too. Oh well.

One of my favorite lunch spots in Parkersburg! The sweet plantains are heavenly - definitely a must-try. Friendly staff, great service, and I always leave full & happy!

I went for lunch on 6/12/13, Service was fair and food was decent. There were six of us that went for lunch so I took longer than I had expected for a simple lunch. After a 20% tip the total was just over $10 which I'm okay with if it's a larger enough serving size, which the chicken nachos wasn't. There was a ton of shredded cheese on top of the plate. All-in-all...not satisfied but I might go back if I was out to lunch with my co workers again.

This place is kind of a hybrid. On weekdays during the day, it's a downtown coffeehouse where you can get a cup of coffee or tea, a pastry, or a sandwich. On Friday nights, it becomes a sit-down Latin restaurant. Since I don't work downtown, I've never been there during the day, so I can't comment on that. But we have been there a couple of times for Friday night dinner. One of the strange things about this place is that, even though they are never served at the same time, the daytime and nighttime categories of dishes are all mixed together on the menu. This makes it kind of confusing the first time you visit, but the staff are very helpful and able to help you figure this out. (Still, I would suggest that they think about this carefully next time they print new menus. ) There are only a handful of dishes on the regular dinner menu, including steak, grilled chicken, fish, and a couple of shrimp dishes. However, there are often several nightly specials available as well. Sometimes these are posted on the Facebook wall early on a Friday afternoon, and sometimes they aren't. (Again, some consistency here would probably not be a bad thing.) The first time we were there in the winter, it was quite busy, and the food was perfectly fine but nothing special. This most recent time we visited, it was much less busy, and the food was wonderful and seemed like it was made with great care. I know that the owner, Tere, cooks all the food herself, so I guess this makes sense. My husband has had two kinds of steak, and both were very good and covered with lots of herbs. The first time I had the shrimp enchilado, which I don't really remember much about, and the second time I had the grilled chicken with mango sauce. I was picturing this as a sort of chunky fruit salsa, but it was actually a mango barbecue sauce that was exceptionally good. Some of the dishes come with specified sides, and with some you can choose your own. One I've liked both times is the tostones, which are crisp-fried patties of plantain slices. They look like bananas but taste like potatoes and are very good. We don't go to this place as often as we like because it's only open for dinner on Friday night, but we're always glad to get a chance to visit when we can.

WoW! Terry brings her many Puerto Rican recipes to this bistro adding to the menu dishes with flare from other Central & South American Countries. Specials of the day tantalize the taste buds. Sweet plantain and black bean soup are standard fare. The Cubano is this person's favorite sandwich. All types of coffees and teas are available.
