I don't quite know what to say about this place. It isn't Mexican. It isn't quite American. But on the Sunday that I visited to meet my Dad to give him my kids so I could go on vacation and it seemed like it was the only restaurant open in Morgantown, it was delicious. This is a strange place. The sign says "Wings Ole Specialty Restaurant." WTF does that mean? Yes, they have wings. "Ole" implies slightly Mexican...but "Specialty" implies NOT Mexican, as you could have put "Wings Ole Mexican Restaurant" on the sign. After learning that Morgantown Brewing Company was closed, and that Black Bear Burritos was similarly closed (does no one eat out in Morgantown on Sunday?), my Dad, the kids, and I thought "why not?" and walked in. Now here's the weird thing: it was weirdly delicious. I had a "fried burrito" (chimichanga?) and a taco. They didn't have a traditional meat in them; it was like they were stuffed with a delicious Sloppy Joe-like concoction. They were both a touch greasy (one was a fried burrito stuffed with greasy meat! - how could they not be greasy?!), but both eminently satisfying. I almost went back to the counter and ordered some more. I am not sure if I returned for a 2nd visit I would be as delighted with this place as I was on this one particular visit. Was I starving so it came across as magically delicious? Or was it genuinely good? I don't know. Based on the words in this review, I think I would have an impossible time talking my wife into a visit the next time we pass through Morgantown...but if I'm ever in Morgantown by myself (or with someone with a little more adventurous/less choosy palate), I will be going for a second try to see if I was just deranged that day, or if this place has genuine so-bad-it's-delicious appeal.

Honestly "yuck" was my reaction to this place... The food is bland and greasy. The food may come out cold or just barely warm. The nacho cheese is separated and the "house" wing sauce is franks red hot sauce.

sometimes I think being from new york city and having some of the finest cuisine in the world right at hand has made me a cynic...other towns and places just do not measure up. However I have found well made food with fresh ingredients all over this country. Just not here..my grandaughter passed a well known mexican takeout joint while going to OLE but I told her we would find some REAL mexican food for her so we stopped in. I had a deep fried chimichanga, she had the taco and rice while my wife decided to have the house WINGS!! We were shocked to say the least..no chili powder in anything..taco was overcooked burger and lettuce in a brown sludge...chimi was burger in same sludge but without ground lettuce in it. The premier specialty wings looked like some poor sparrow never made it home to his nest that night but was slowly drowned in cold oil...skin and bones. When my wife changed her mind from bleu cheese dressing to the ranch she was told"no problem they are both one and the same" Now I have no problem paying for someones sincere effort at cooking good food and I know sometimes kitchens have a problem or two but this was just ridiculous. way over priced for something I could have found in a refuse container. last but not least I backtracked our route to our motel and stopped at taco bell to fullfill my grandaughters wish of having a decent taco... it was decent.

For a restaurant with the word "wing" in the name you'd expect good wings. Not here, the wings are terrible. They do not cook crispy wings here. They are the soggy sticky type covered in thin watery sauce. If you like that style you'll be okay but if you are like most people that like crispy wings look elsewhere. Other menu items are pretty good. The fries and blue cheese are tasty although they really aren't anything new or innovative. The burritos arent your typical Qdoba or even Taco Bell style. They are watery and messy and fall apart easily. The flavor is interesting because its different but not something that makes you crave coming back.

You only want to come if it's patio weather. The dining room is cold and ugly. Ugly tables, ugly chairs, ugly walls, ugly lighting. The patio overlooks the riverfront park and rails-to-trails. It's a bonus if there's a barge or kayaks--or a concert in the amphitheater! The food is average. Although known for their wings, I thing the burritos are more in their bailiwick. Make it all taste better with a Yuengling beer on tap.

I started eating at Wings Ole's predecessor, Wings and Things, while in grad school 30 years ago. Once or twice a week I would stop in for a garden burrito and fries with blue cheese. It's about all I could afford for dining out back then. After a long absence I stopped in Morgantown last week and went right to Wings. The location by the Westover bridge has a very nice deck with a great view of the river. However the inside is a charmless dump. I had the garden burrito for old time sake, and it was good, but the wings my buddies ordered were pretty bad. If you we're a fan of the old W&T, you owe it to yourself to stop by out of nostalgia. Otherwise, if you have never been here before, don't go.

Horrid food. We ordered a plate of nachos and some wings. The nachos were just cold, stale tortilla chips taken out of a bag and tossed on a plate. Tthen they dumped lukewarm fake plastic bright-orange "nacho cheese sauce" on them. That was it. No jalapenos, no nothing. Just cold chips and, by the time it got to us, cold fake, congealed "cheese" sauce. The wings were tiny, cold and burnt. There was no hot sauce or salsa available, even though it touts itself as a Mexican place.

Don't go here expecting authentic Mexican food. If I were to rate it as a mexican place it wouldn't get many stars. It certainly isn't. I recommend the beef burrito, fries and blue, and chocolate milkshake. Be warned - the burrito is more like a slightly mexican flavored sloppy joe in a tortilla. This is a very popular place with the locals and college alumni. Wings aren't bad but they are skinny. They must use some of the meat for something else. I like their wing sauce however. I am one of those college alumni that makes this a regular stop every time I go back. Like many others, this place became part of my DNA.

What? No Wings Ole reviews yet? The service is slow, but the food is good. They've gotten a bit skimpy on their wings sauce lately, so you might need to peek at your wings before you go and ask for extra. Place is clean and reasonably priced. Usually they have lunch specials that are a good deal. Enjoy!

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
