Not vegetarian friendly. Missed breakfast by arriving after 10:30. Only vegetarian option was a salad and French fries. The salad was iceberg lettuce with an assortment of veggies - quite average. Service was good and staff was friendly. Won't be coming back here without more options. The Subway down the street is a better choice.

Stopped here with my husband and daughter for breakfast after spending the night in the area. We all had typical breakfast diner fare - bacon, eggs, toast, home fries - all yummy! Home fries were especially good. We will certainly come back next time we are in the area.

Small and quiet place in WV. The food was good and the place was clean. My food came out hot and fast and it was a lot. Service was good and I had everything I needed.

3.5 Stars. Cool little diner off the beaten path a bit. I am sure we looked like tourists (although there is not much to "tour" in the area - we were just in the area for a golf weekend) because most of the customers looked like regulars. It was quite full for 1030 in the morning - not quite breakfast or lunch. I kinda wish I was able to try the lunch because they had a very basic breakfast menu. No frills is an understatement. I opted for the English breakfast which featured an english muffin, ham, bacon, two eggs, and some potatoes. I cannot say I disliked anything on my plate - I even liked the ham which I rarely like at all. This place doesn't blow the doors off for me mainly because it is such basic fare. But they do it right here there is no doubt. Love to support small local places like this too. Give it a go if you want some cheap basic food made with a little bit of love as well.

A Morgantown area standard since 1958, Ruby and Ketchy's is a great I-68 pit stop for hungry travelers and a regular spot for Cheat Lake locals. Nothing fancy here, just solid diner fare, cheap breakfast, cold beer and daily specials. Ham dinner, sausage gravy, hot turkey sandwich with gravy and mashed potatoes are a few menu highlights. Try the pie.

Great food... the service is hit or miss dependent on the time of day.

If you like old-style side-of-the-road diners then you'll love this place. Nothing fancy mind you, just your basic burgers, fried sides, some decent specials and a look back into what on the road dining used to be before the chains moved in. The grandkids would choose this place over almost anything else in the Morgantown area.

While the woman who sat and served us is not familiar with the concept of service with a smile the food is satisfying and the prices are cheap. I would recommend to anyone staying at the nearby Lakeview Golf Resort.

My boyfriend and I wandered out of the woods yesterday morning after a weekend of camping and found this place by accident. We got a vanilla milkshake, blackberry pie, coffee, chili, vegetable soup, a BLT, a chicken club sandwich, home fries, and an order of regular fries with gravy for less than $30. Can you believe it?! My chicken club sandwich was delicious. The bread tasted fresh and the bacon was perfectly crispy. Overall I thought the whole meal was great and the price couldn't be beat. They seemed understaffed but after she got to us our waitress was friendly and fast. She kindly accommodated my boyfriend when he asked if he could mix a vanilla shake and slice of blackberry pie to make a pie milkshake. The flavor was incredible. I wonder if the pie was homemade. The food took a little while since they were switching from breakfast to lunch, but once it reached us it was worth the wait. I only regret that we missed breakfast by 10 minutes since the pancakes/eggs/biscuits I saw other tables enjoying looked amazing.

decided to go (bc of Yelp reviews) on Sun. at 10:30am. Sign on door said "No longer accepting breakfast orders. Lunch is postponed 30 minutes"???

This is a hole in the wall diner. I went there with a couple friends and their two children for dinner. The price is cheap, and the food is fresh. Everything that we ordered was good. Our party ordered a hamburger, chicken club sandwich, egg and ham sandwich, and the kids had fish nuggets and chicken nuggets. They were all delicious. I was so surprised as I did not expect the food to be this good from such a place. We would be back for breakfast for sure. Normally I would give a 3-star rating but I bumped it up a star for cheap prices, fresh food (most diners use frozen food), and the vegetable soup was fresh tasting and not salty.

We were more than a little surprised to find that there are very few places to have breakfast in Morgantown, WV. We thought about the Blue Moose, but due to various circumstances, ended up heading on our way out of town and ate at Ruby & Ketchy's. The reviews looked good and we were looking forward to a diner-y breakfast. Well, we were disappointed - no breakfast. We were more than a little surprised when we showed up and learned that they stop serving breakfast at 10:45. We had slept in a bit because today is my birthday, so we got there around 11:30, I think. No chance at breakfast, apparently. We had plans for the day, so rather than leaving and looking for something else, we stayed and ordered what was available. I had a fried egg sandwich with a side of home fries, which is essentially breakfast. He had a BLT and fries. The food was served lightning fast and it was pretty good - nothing particularly good or bad to say about it. It was decent diner food, a tiny bit greasy as it should be in a diner, and tasty, if a bit under-seasoned. I had read that the pie was really good, so we decided what the heck, we'll give it a try. I had the blackberry, and he had the peachberry - which we were interested to hear was peaches, blueberries and cherries! Odd... When the pies were delivered, I was dismayed that they were served cold. It hadn't occurred to me to ask - I'm sure they would have heated them if we had requested it, but why would you serve cold pie? In any case, they really were delicious. You cannot beat the prices at this place, it's ridiculously cheap. The decor is very homey, the waitress was nice, if a bit brusque. There is no pretense of anything here - you sit, you order, you get served, you eat, you pay, you leave. The food is good, the prices rock, it's very no-nonsense. The lack of all day breakfast was really disappointing - you expect a diner to offer that. We enjoyed it and would recommend it - but it is what is is, which is just a low-end diner with fast service and decent food, but nothing special.

So the day before I ate here I drove past this place after making a wrong turn trying to get to my hotel, but it looked like it was right up my alley. I went with my spouse for breakfast and we were not let down! The prices are good and I like the fact you can get a lot of things a la carte to build your own combo. I had french toast and eggs, with a side of bacon. I was impressed with the size of the order of french toast and the bacon was so crispy, despite being thick cut (is there a Nobel Prize for best bacon?). The food was just spot on for us! The only down side: their booths are a little hard on the butt, next time I'd probably sit at a table or the counter instead!

Hole in the wall place near Cheat Lake. Comfort food, not fancy but very satisfying. Had hamburger steak with regular sides (Corn, green beans, mashed potatoes amongst us). Very good vegetable soup. Service was prompt and pleasant. All-in-all, exactly what we were looking for after an exciting football game at Milan Puskar. West Virginians made us Texans feel welcome and this little restaurant felt like Grandma's cooking. They're not open late, so catch them while you can.

I love diners. Love them. From their small town feel to their random decor and ecelctic cusomers, so I couldn't wait to try Ruby and Ketchys. I was horribly disappointed. We waited 35 minutes for two orders of scrambled eggs and when we got them they were actually swimming in a pool of grease and just shy of ice cold. There was one waitress for the entire restaurant on a Sunday at 10am...and although she was incredibly nice, we still waited 35 minutes for scrambled eggs. The coffee was slow in coming and not very tasty, and the bacon that we ordered with the eggs was 80% fat and ice cold. So much so that the grease had started to congeal. IHOP is a million times better!

A friend recommended that we try Ruby & Ketchy's, and it really is a great hole in the wall diner! We were hoping to get breakfast on a Sunday morning, but we missed their breakfast menu by 20 minutes (FYI they stop serving breakfast at 10:45am). Because we were hankering for something more like breakfast food, we ordered fried egg sandwiches with cheese, bacon, and home fries on the side. Perfect. We will definitely be going back.

One of the few old-school eateries around Morgantown, Ruby and Ketchy's is a down-to-earth and friendly place with solid country fare. I had a country ham sandwich, which was pretty generously stuffed, and my wife had what she considers the best meatloaf ever. They are especially well-known for their pies; the blackberry (their most famous) is very good, but I actually preferred the peach-strawberry. All in all, a great place - not the ideal spot for a date or business lunch, but unpretentious and comfortable.

Definitely Old School and excellent pie. Friendly too.

I don't know why my sister has never taken me here before! We usually end up going to Cracker Barrel, IHOP, or another chain restaurant. On a whim, she suggested going here and I was so glad she did! The restaurant was opened by Ruby Nicholson circa 1958 and after retiring, her husband joined her. The place is still run by their descendant(s?). Family-owned gets big points in my book. We went for breakfast, and thankfully we got there just before they had to close the kitchen to switch over to lunch. The place was PACKED and it was obvious that the waitstaff was feeling some stress, but that didn't affect their ability to serve in a friendly, efficient manner. I had the hot cakes with a side of eggs. It was yummy, but I couldn't finish all of it. If I went back, I would order from their a la carte menu and just get two hot cakes and a side of eggs. The coffee is hot and tasty (the menu states that you only get 1 refill, but they filled up that cup numerous times with no extra charge :) ). They serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner. I caught a glimpse of the lunch menu and they have everything from simple sandwiches to full-blown hot meals. Cheap, delicious, and local- love it!!!

Unassuming from the outside, the five cars in a lot that might hold ten was a promising sign. We were not disappointed. I'll admit we were lured by the promise of a blackberry pie, but decided we'd do the decent thing and start with drinks and an entree. We took our seats in a small booth designed for two, just on the other side of some cafe tables from the fireplace. The cash register was just over the sidewall of the booth; a tall young man spoke on his cell to a friend while ringing up tickets as the lunch crowd dispersed. Partner and I both took the special, creamed chicken over biscuits, with sweet cole slaw and country (very well cooked) green beans seasoned with ham, all served in 60 seconds flat by our genteel hostess, who might even have been the owner. Tasty and filling, not fancy, but just what you'd expect from a small-town diner. Economically, hostess offered straws for our sodas, and repocketed them when we declined. "As big as this," she said, holding up a pinky to describe the blackberries in her pies. "Very good," she added with a raise of her eyebrows. We took two. The crusts, top and bottom, were good, though I've had better. The filling, however, was amazing. Berries of the advertised size, not overcooked, so holding their shapes while suspended in a perfect filling, sweet but not too sweet. $26 for two, including tip. For that price, perfect!

Ruby & Ketchy's is a Cheat Lake institution since 1958!!! Long time boaters on Cheat Lake know this is the place to stop for Breakfast before a hard day of having fun. The Grilled Chicken salad is great for Dinner. The prices are so reasonable, I had a Cheeseburger, fries and refills on a Iced Tea for lunch recently, came to $7.42. Breakfast on Sunday mornings is very popular as that area continues to grow with new development nearby.

Great diner! better yet amazing prices! Mashed potatoes are oh so yummy!

My husband and I love this restaurant. It is really the kind of place that would be characterized as a "dive" in most conversations, but it is very popular with the locals. They feature daily specials such as beans and corn bread, spaghetti, stuffed cabbage, fish dinners and many more. The whole place is serviced by just two waitresses and sometimes only one, even during busy spells, but each can handle any situation.

First time here and got the chipped beef gravy over biscuits. It was a weekend special, so I had to go for it. It was flavorless until I added lots of salt and pepper. The biscuit was either from 3 days ago, or it was frozen. Mom had overly sour buckwheat pancakes. And it was all room temp at best. I can't figure out how they were so busy...Needless to say, we're sticking with Bob Evans next time were in town.

I always look for local places to eat to capture that home town cooking. This was definitely a local place and we stopped in for breakfast. The food was basic and was average quality. Service was ok but didn't really make someone from out of town feel welcome. All in all still better than McDonald's.

Fun authentic family run country diner. We stopped in for breakfast I had the English breakfast eggs bacon ham and an English muffin. The ham was delicious as was the rest of the breakfast. The diner had a lot of charm definitely worth a try if your in the area

A little local diner is always better than stopping at McDonald's. This place was delicious...and cheap! Very friendly staff. Everyone knew everyone else's name - we stood out like a sore thumb with our Chicago accents. The apple pie was to die for!! It's off the beaten path, but definitely worth the stop.
