Very pleasant and tasty food.

Its pretty simple. 2 things: #1 (the best) SEAFOOD HOTPOT ($17).. Amazing....#2 California Cream Cheese Roll ($8) yum yum and yum. 1st time there..just left and can't wait to come back! Service was just as on point as the food!

Stopped into this location last night. Ambiance is good. They seem to have a good axis for seating. The decor is dim but not uninviting. Food here is pretty good. The sushi was fresh and the Korean food was pretty good. For Morgantown it's above my expectations. **start serving dokkbokki and I'll be back more often.

Just visited for my first ever attempt with Sushi. I was pleasantly surprised. Only about 3 parking spots in the front, so we parked behind the restaurant and walked around. I'm not a raw fish kind of person, so I went with the Shrimp Tempura, and I asked them to add cream cheese. Rice and Fried Shrimp seemed like it would need a little something extra, and it was delicious! My friend ordered two types of California Roll and seemed to really enjoy them. The only complaints are: Soda from a can and Service is pretty slow. Other than that I had a great first sushi experience and I can't wait to try more!

Wonderful food great size of the sushi rolls. Great staff but the place can be little hard to find at first. The place looks great and clean.

Was unsure of this place when we first pulled in. It looked so small outside but we took the risk and decided to go in. And I'm glad we did! It was a amazing experience. The sushi is amazing. The service is wonderful. The atmosphere is very calming and casual. The wait time isn't bad at all either. I had some TNT roll, spicy blackened tuna roll and the ocean blue roll. All was outstanding. I would definitely go again. Also had some mixed drinks and that was also a very pleasant experience. If you get a chance you better go!

Who would have thought very good sushi in Morgantown Wv? I was really shocked with not only the quality but also the selection. The mackerel had wonderful taste and both the Hurricane roll and the Ogawa forever were superb. The only thing missing was some wasabi. Most places I have been to give you wasabi on the plate and bring more upon request. This place didnt put any on the plate. Disappointed in that as I like to mix in in the soy sauce. Also they had no salt free soy sauce. But the sushi was fantastic in both flavor and quality. I will be back for more!!

Sushi and Korean restaurant near WVU Law School and Ruby Memorial Hospital. Service is very good. Sushi is good and reasonably priced. Korean dishes are a bit pricey. Japchae, a Korean stir fry dish, was decent but overpriced at $17.95. The portion was small and not worth the price. The restaurant has a good energy is a nice place to spend the evening. The best bang for the buck is the sushi.

This is our second visit here in the last year. Since we no longer live in Morgantown, we can't come as often as I'd like. My wife got the lunch special box with teriyaki chicken, spicy crab roll, rice, salad and tempura vegetables. (Love love loved the tempura sweet potato and teriyaki sauce!) I splurged for lunch and got 2 specialty rolls. Calamari twist roll with jumbo shrimp (had same great sweet teriyaki glaze as my wife's chicken). Also followed another yelper's rec and tried the fire cracker roll with spicy tuna, & asparagus deep fried with a zippy masago drizzle. I didn't like it as much as the other guy did, but the quality ingredients were definitely spot on. This being our second time in, I'm baffled as to the other reviews about sanitation issues... The place had great clean ambiance and lively music so you don't feel like it's trying to be a spa or something. The staff has been incredibly friendly each time! I guess since today was the day before valentines day and we were the last ones still there at the tail end of lunch time - the sushi chef treated us to a free preview of tomorrow's special heart shaped sushi appetizer! How thoughtful! This place is quickly becoming a must stop during our visits back to Mo'town. *1-star deduction due to the high end specialty rolls being over-priced by about $2. However, I'll keep paying until the quality disappoints.

Very surprisingly good Tofu Stew (Soondubu) w/Seafood. Generous serving of Tofu, Squid, and a few Mussels inside. Great, interesting soup flavor. Not the typical bland soondubu stew you might find at an average Korean restaurant. Our waitress tells us this place is Korean-owned and they know how to do their Korean menu well. It's true! Over the course of a year, I probably eat at Korean restaurants 30-40 times around the country and abroad, mostly Soondubu, sometimes Bibimbap if brown rice is available. Would easily order the same thing again. Came here looking for sushi (which we got as well), left a big fan of their Korean. Looking forward to the next visit!

For a quick, delicious, cheap and filling sit-down lunch, you can't do better in Morgantown than Ogawa. Their bento lunch boxes are all served with miso soup, rice, salad and tempura-fried vegetables (the sweet potato is amazing), in addition to whatever sushi/sashimi and meat you want. Though the sign says Japanese, you'll find a lot of Korean options here as well. I only ever come here for lunch, so I don't know about the dinner options, but I've rarely had the same combination platter for lunches, and it's consistently delicious and fresh -- definitely the best sushi I've had in Morgantown. Their dolsot bibimbap (a Korean hot pot kind of thing that I usually love) was a little disappointing, so I'd recommend sticking to their sushi and sashimi. Though, the bulgoki (Korean beef) that you can order with lunch boxes is a personal favorite. While the box lunches are cheap and filling, the sushi platters are a bit expensive for a college budget, though not at all overpriced. If you splurge, they are genuinely very good and fresh -- my tuna sashimi never has the "fishy" taste that some places have. The service has always been friendly and fast, and we're always recognized and led to our usual spot when we come in. The décor is comfortable, with high seats, booths and a bar. Bottom line: Ogawa is THE place in Morgantown for sushi. Come for their lunch boxes, stay for the atmosphere.

Best sushi in town. You're always greeted when you enter and they have a good selection of basic and sushi rolls in addition to noodles and other entrees.

Excellent, will dine here again. I was taken here for a business lunch on a Thursday at 1 PM. Most tables taken, but enough available so we were seated immediately. Service was fast and friendly. Lunch specials (for $7!!) were perfect: miso soup plus a choice of hot dish (teriaki, tempura, etc.) and sushi (roll, sashimi, etc.) with some small side dishes in a bento box format. I ordered vegetable tempura and Hawaiian roll (spicy tuna, avocado, pineapple). Everything was excellent, and served very quickly. Atmosphere charming Japanese decor, some of the wait staff are Japanese, so the place seems authentic. White rice was served with a small sprinkling of black sesame seeds, beautiful. Exactly what you would want for a fast but relaxed business lunch.

We were looking at for a Japanese restaurant that near by our house. We were reading some reviews on this resurgent. Some likes it and some dislike! It's was pretty good. The staff are nice and friendly. The restaurant is small and fancy. The salad and soup are good Also we have sushi for entrees. We were about to have desert, but only green tea ice-cream. They should have more selections.

we rolled up on this place and were wary to even walk in. good reason to not judge a book by its cover. totally cute inside. very helpful server. i thought the miso was watery. but lets get to the sushi. we order a bunch and shared. the specialty rolls were ginormous: mountaineer roll: deep fried california roll topped with smoked salmon, eel sauce - im not a fan of fried rolls but it was good. love roll ii: salmon, tuna, avocado, asparagus & masago topped with crab, mayo and spicy sauce - i loved this roll. prepare for you entire mouth to be consumed by sushi. las vegas dream roll: eel, avocado, crab & eel sauce inside, spicy tuna, spicy sauce and jalapeno on top outside - my 15 year old son said this was his second favorite roll of his lifetime. it was pretty amazing and if i came back i would order this for sure. eldolado roll: basil, salmon, white tuna, avocado, eel topped with spicy tuna, jalapenos, red caviar, wasabi, spicy sauce - really really good. ogawa forever: jumbo shrimp topped with spicy tuna, eel, salmon, spicy eel sauce and wasabi caviar - loved this too. alaskan sunset: jumbo shrimp topped with seared salmon and avacado, wasabi sauce and masago - love seared fish on a roll. yes please. we also got some plain rolls that were tasty too - but its hard to go plain after eating the special rolls. cant wait to go back and visit my daughter at wvu and go here!
(4)Sara L.
Was excited to try this after reading all of the reviews, but we were very disappointed. The sushi was bland and over-priced for what you get. Not a place we'll return to in the future. The service was great - one bright spot. There are other options in the Morgantown area that are much better.

I've been here 3 times now and the sushi is consistently good. I like elaborate rolls and they have a varied selection. I always have trouble deciding what to get. ~Christine Zellers CEO, LBDC

They do NOT even deserve a 1 star! I have never in my life had to call the health department, but this place needs to be shut down for their lack of accountability and disgusting practices. I found all kinds of gross things in my chicken. I called the waiter over who took my lunch away and promised to replace it. I said "no thanks I lost my appetite". He showed it to the cook/owner who then charged us for the meal. I was completely appalled!!! I kindly explained that I didn't eat more than 5 bites before discovering this garbage soup in my food. The waiter said the owner is eccentric and wouldn't understand not paying. He screamed at us which led us to be more hostile and insist on calling the health department, something I've NEVER done in my life! He said they wouldn't inspect him, they have no power over him, call the health department they wont hurt me! I couldn't believe he was screaming these things. Then he grabs my mom's credit card out of her hands and REFUSED to give it back, saying he was going to charge for my meal. My mom asked for it back, demanded for it back, finally she had to grab his wrist and pry it out of his hands. Needless to say, I'll never go there again!

This place could have had a higher rating from me if our waiter wasn't such a space cadet. He forgot our drinks, left for 10-15 min stretches at a time, and nodded and walked away before we could make sure our orders were correctly taken. When I asked for iced tea, he said something inaudible, nodded, and wrote the number "17" at the top of our sushi order paper, and darted back behind the black linen curtain next to the sushi chef station. At first I thought it may have been Japanese secret code transcription used in WW II and adopted by restauranteurs in an effort to keep patrons guessing about the inner workings of successful sushi eateries. The 15 minute wait coupled by the non-delivery of my tea made me rethink the hypothesis. I finally gave up and walked to the back of the restaurant and pulled aside the curtain to find our waiter. I finally got my iced tea 5 min later. The sushi didn't make sick, which is always a good thing when it comes to raw fish. I may try this place out again, just to give the place a fair shot with a different waiter.

My favorite thing about this place is walking in. Immediately there is a chorus of "Irasshaimase!" from everyone working. It's very welcoming. I like that the miso soup is complimentary, that's a bonus. But I don't think this place has ever wow'ed me. I did really like the shrimp tempura, but my husband did not enjoy the non-sushi dinner boxes. However it is much roomier than Volcano and the decor is awesome. A good sushi place but not my favorite.

I have dined in a lot of restaurants all over the country, and this establishment personally rates in my top 5 of all time. Last night I was finally able to visit the place a second time. I have twins going to WVU and whenever I come into town to see them I enjoy looking for great places to eat. If you find yourself in this situation I strongly suggest you try this place. Our purpose for the visit was a large family gathering during dinner hours on the weekend. I initially questioned what the experience would be like after seeing the location and front exterior. This a repeat of an overused quotation to not judge an establishment by looks. The place can get a little crowded, as I'm sure word is continuing to grow about this place, but they try to make room for larger groups (if you're going in there with over 5 people). If you dig sashimi, I urge you to find a place better. If you do in the area, please tell me. This place is great for having them prepare a platter to meet your desire from an awesome selection. I can not speak for much on the menu, as I have always went the "noodle bar" route for my main dish. As far as those dishes go, again, its one of the best I've experienced. Most of our group on both occasions ordered from the Noodle portion of the menu. One guest of ours ordered a Dinner Box which she said was excellent, and it looked awesome! (Gonna try one of those next time... maybe... those noodle dishes are crazy good!) The staff is awesome; though we were lucky enough to have the same waiter on both of our visits, so it was nice having him remember us. The entire staff if friendly and attention is given to please all of the diners. The interior atmosphere is quaint and comfortable. It takes on its own aura and becomes its own private dining realm. I like a place that does that. The area the restaurant is located in is ok. Nothing spectacular about it, but I like entering a building and immediately losing track of the physical outside. Prices: Great for area and overall. VERY reasonable. In summary, I can't wait to return again soon.

The sushi rolls here are as big as your head. OK, not really, but seriously they are really big, so keep that in mind if you're like me and get over excited when ordering when you're hungry. If I were a student at WVU, I would totally recommend this place for a date night. The ambiance is relaxed, but cute, and it's a great place to share. Something you wouldn't know if you just drove by it, so don't judge this book by its cover! I had a Hawaiian roll (spicy tuna, pineapple and avocado) and Spicy noodles with seafood. Both were just hot enough for my liking, without overpowering seafood. Like I said though, I definitely needed a to go container because I was stuffed with only both dishes half finished!
(5)Seyran C.
I've had sushi all around the world (including Japan) and find that Ogawa is exactly A-OK, and there's nothing wrong with that. It's dependable, the service is decent, the food is fresh and the atmosphere is clean and pleasing.
(3)X. K.
One star off because the food is expensive, but the Korean food here is good. And yes it's run by Koreans-- go for the stone bowl bibimbap. With the red pepper sauce. Yum.

International team of economic development specialists traveling back from a Smart and Sustainable Campus Conference, when we looked up special cuisines on YELP. Don't fail us. We had the seaweed salad, ali, maguro, Firecracker roll, fried rice, okonomiyaki (first time she has seen it in the USA, because it is too authentic) miso soup. We were NOT disappointed. Sizes are larger than other Japanese restaurants. Tasty. Scrumptious! HIGHLY recommended.
(5)Victoria B.
I've gotten take-out here at dinner time, and it's not the best service and is kind of confusing. And a little overpriced for what you get. However, I would definitely come here for lunch again. The $6.95 lunch box special gets you miso soup, your choice of roll and kitchen entree, vegetable tempura, salad and rice. It was much more than I expected.
(4)Adam L.
Always a great meal. The best dol sot bim bim bop around as well as the sushi. Great service and the manager is always very warm and welcoming.
(5)Fred T.
Nice place, tough to find parking, I had to drive around a few times. I went a bit after noon and sat at the sushi counter. I had the Las Vegas Dream Roll with a "side" of Nigiri Sushi, smoked salmon. The meal was very good, nice presentation and plenty for a meal.
(4)Lindsay A.
Okay, so I used to love this place but they have since changed ownership and things got a little weird. By weird I mean my cup of soda was smoking. huh? I have no idea either and on top of the liquid it looked oily. My cup probably didn't get run through the dish cycle completely, but I don't understand the smoking cold cup. Anyways, the sushi is still good here. I'm just concerned with the cleanliness.
(3)Kate N.
Two reasons why this didn't get 4 or 5 stars...expense and size. The sushi was delicious. Really flavorful and fresh. The HUGE disappointment was the size of the roles. They were each the size of baseballs, so getting one in your mouth is impossible. This also goes against the purpose of sushi, which is traditional light Japanese fare. Not huge Americanized sushi roles. The presentation was beautiful, but they do not give you pickled ginger...which is weird. We got 4 roles and 2 beers and it was $100. I've had better sushi with much more alcohol in New York City for less money. But it was very good sushi, which is appreciated in morgantown, where good restaurants are hard to find. Maybe just cut back on the size of the roles!
(3)Maria B.
Great quality sashimi & sushi! In Hawaii the lunch box I ordered here at $9.95 would cost up to $40. Awesome food & very affordable!
(4)Natasha K.
For a person who has had sushi in bigger cities...this would a place to avoid. Spicy tuna= low grade, blended, too much rice
(2)Dwight B.
We just moved to Morgantown from San Francisco (a city known for good sushi and asian food in general) and really enjoyed Ogawa. We had the side salad, miso soup, Fire Cracker Roll, and Udon. Everything was excellent. The side salad comes with a really tasty ginger salad dressing. The miso was good. The Fire Cracker Roll (spicy tuna deep fried) was delicious and filling. Lastly, the udon rivaled what we've been used to in San Francisco and the portions are generous. We are definitely going back and I would recommend it to others.
(5)T L.
Biggest deception ever! This restaurant is located next to a gas station. And my friend refuses to eat here for that specific reason. She also refused to come with me as it was recommended by 3 guys and well...she thinks guys can eat anything...even dirt. The sushi here is anything but dirt. It is amazing and I like it so much more than Volcano down the street. I had the bulgogi lunch box and it reminded me of Annandale, VA so much. Ah, the taste of home. The place looks tiny and unremarkable outside. But just take the step inside and be amazed at how big it really is. There is a private parking lot in the back so don't be discouraged into not visiting.
(4)Becca H.
Ogawa is THE place to go in Morgantown. Their sushi is so so so so good, (007 Roll and Tiger Eyes Roll) I've tried I think mostly all of their sushi's because they just do it so well! I cannot wait to get back to Morgantown to come here. GO GO GOO!!!!
(5)Lenah K.
My husband is from West Virginia, and we've ended up at this place twice when we've flown in from Texas to visit his family. I was happy and suprised to find decent sushi at reasonable prices in a land-locked state. The first time we dined there it was lunchtime during Thanksgiving break so we had the place to ourselves. The second time it was dinnertime during homecoming weekend and the place was packed. Both times we had good service and great food. We will definitely be back the next time we visit West Virginia! *EDIT* And I've definitely had sushi in big cities, many times in the 4th largest city in the country (Houston, TX, which is also much closer to the ocean than WV is), most often in Austin, TX, which is the 15th largest city in the country (over 750,000 people). The couple of sushi places I ate at in Boston, MA (around 620,000 people) were also of comparable quality.
(4)Eric L.
Not a bad place for some quick sushi take out. Service and staff were very friendly and helpful. I didn't eat in, but the dining area is nice. Pretty good value, you'll probably have to learn whats good and not here.
(3)Kristen R.
Went there once, so its possible that I visited on an off night. I hate to be a downer, but I was disappointed with the quality and taste of everything I tried, sushi and rolls included. This was the first time I had ever had California rolls that were truly bad...didn't even know that was possible. Service and atmosphere were fine, but I don't think I'll be back.
(1)Hiewon K.
Been to this restaurant with my family when we were traveling to visit my bro in-law in Ohio from maryland. Totally authentic Korean food. Stone bowl bibimbap with beef was very good. Best we had in md, va, and in Los angeles. And I know Korean food since I'm Korean. Sushi was really fresh too. Definitely recommend to those passing thru wv and wanting authentic Korean.
(5)Mike B.
I had high hopes, but now I'm thinking I would rather go to the Kroger and see if they had some boxed sushi! I thought it would be hard to screw up california rolls, but they did.The rice didn't taste like sushi rice, it was more like Uncle Ben's. I wish it was better, and I wish I could say this was a solid place.
(2)Dawn L.
This is the best sushi place in Morgantown. They have other items in their regular menu but I can't say I've strayed past their sushi menu. I usually get a couple tried and true rolls - spicy tuna/salmon, eel - and then try something new. I had their Las Vegas roll the other night which was FANTASTIC!! I highly recommend!!
(4)Jen Q.
Much better than most places in Morgantown and a nice change from bar food and pizza. Decor is OK. Menu is decent with lots of noodle dishes and boxes for non sushi people.
(4)Joseph S.
Great sushi, but I normally go for the box lunches. These are reasonably priced and they (at least used to) have student specials. For the price, it's a lot of really good food.
(5)G R.
Sadly, Ogawa has changed owners. The food was still good and high quality, but don't expect the multiple pages of creative rolls to pick from. All of my favorites were gone, and the new menu is greatly condensed and more run-of-the-mill now. Too bad, because IMO, this was one of the few Morgantown restaurants that really held its own when compared to bigger city restaurants. When I went last week, they still had not secured their liquor license, so no sake! Probably still the best sushi in town, just not as good as it used to be. Oh, and it's about $1-2 more per item, with smaller quantities.
(3)Daniel D.
This place is nothing fancy just how you want a sushi place to be. The prices are reasonable and they have special all the time. I had 2 different rolls today and is still craving more.
(5)Andrea B.
We went here for my birthday dinner last week and it was delicious! We had edamame (I always order it) and some Alaskan-something for appetizers. The second one was a round sushi and fruit concoction, and while that sounds less than appetizing I assure you we were extremely pleased! For my dinner I had the shrimp tempura udon, which was amazing and more than I could eat. If I had it to do over the only thing I would change would be to get the regular udon, because it was so big I actually couldn't eat all the shrimp. My husband got the shrimp and chicken bento box, and he loved that as well. He is a very large guy with a very big appetite and he was not able to finish it. The atmosphere is great- from the outside it looks a bit rundown but the inside has been redone and is absolutely beautiful. Our server hovered a bit, but we got there as soon as they opened so we were the only ones there. He also really didn't speak any english, but for me that adds to the flair (and an American guy came around behind him and made sure we were taken care of). My only complaint is that our server brought our meals out while we were still working on our appetizers. You will not have to wait long for your food here!
(5)Tom S.
Ogawa offers diners extremely generous portions of very fresh, delicious food. It is almost always our "go to" place whenever we get together with friends for a wonderful night out dining. The service is always friendly and quick and you simply can't experience a bad meal here. This is the ONLY sushi restaurant I have ever recommended to anyone. We tried sushi at Fujiyama in Morgantown and only made it to the crafts store next door before we had to run in and ruin their restrooms. Yes, we bought something. ;)
(5)Courtney B.
Fresh sashimi! We had the King Salmon. For sushi we tried the Hurricane and West Wood. All of the ingredients held their own and were flavorful unlike anything you find in most of the Chinese buffets in the area. Rolls were a little more expensive at first glance, but were well worth it. Yaki Udon was simple and enough for two to share. Our server was very attentive and knowledgeable. Don't judge by the exterior. Inside is a hidden gem.
(5)Trapper L.
Love this place, definitely the best sushi in Morgantown. Try the chef's special rolls, they are a little more expensive, but worth it. Service is generally very good.
(5)Sherod E.
Very friendly and doting staff (including owner, who took the time to check in with me at the sushi bar), quick sushi output despite a full restaurant, and very tasty and unique rolls, as well as classic reproduction of the standards (philly and spicy tuna). Only slight criticism is parking was hard to come by, but no effect on rating. Will definitely return if I come back to Morgantown.
(5)Andy S.
You wouldn't expect to find great sushi in Morgantown, but this place fits the bill. Very good service and welcoming, peaceful atmosphere. Sushi is high quality, haven't tried anything I didn't like. The lunch box special is one of the best deals in Morgantown. You get a sushi roll, a small entree, tempura veggies, rice, and the usual soup and salad for $6.95. Overall, a great place for any occasion.
(5)Lauren G.
Hands down, my favorite restaurant in Morgantown and for a good reason. The staff is wonderful -- always very welcoming and the chefs are so kind and sometimes will make you a special extra something to try. The sushi is the best I've yet to have. I highly recommend the TNT roll, it's amazing. You won't regret this place !
(5)Kristina S.
Very friendly staff. Their California cream cheese roll is amazing, I highly recommend! They have great soup and salad also. I definitely don't recommend their spicy tuna roll; it was so salty that I could barely eat it. I'm not sure what was going on because everything else we ordered was great, including the spicy scallop roll, but it was just horrible (seriously probably one of the worst rolls I've ever had unfortunately). I'd still come back and recommend the place to others bc that California cream cheese roll is addicting!
