Great, relaxed atmosphere for downtown Morgantown. Awesome selection of beer. Definitely will return!

A great place to grab a drink and hang out. It's not your typical "college bar," which I appreciate. I'm in my mid-30's and I don't enjoy drinking with the kids that are just there to get drunk. This is a great place for those who want to enjoy a quality craft beer with good company. And the bartenders are SO knowledgable. At one point I said, "I like a lager," and he came back with 5 different fantastic options. Love this place.

Epic beer selection. Two Trappist ales, ON TAP. Unheard of. Amazing. A must-visit for any self-respecting beer drinker.

If you're a hipster in Morgantown, you might call this place home. We came here to celebrate my friend finishing grad school and it was a great place all around. Tons and tons of beer options available, and if you're not a sophisticated beer drinker like I am, the servers are happy to suggest something for you. By the bar there's a huge board with names and scores and across that is a cabinet for people to keep track of the beers they try. I thought this was awesome and it would certainly have me coming back if I lived in the area. We grabbed a great spot in the side room and played games, and our server was super attentive all night long. I'd definitely come back if I was in town.

Best place to grab a beer in Morgantown, hands down. Prices are fair, bartenders are friendly and knowledgable, the vibe is super casual and laid back (if a bit dark), and I always can get a great new beer here. Grace (owner/bartender/kickass lady) is awesome. Probably my favorite place to stop in when going downtown. And even if I'm going somewhere else, I definitely try to stop by the Apothecary before or after my downtown adventure. If you are a fan of craft beer, get familiar with the Apothecary. They can do no wrong.

As a college student at WVU, the night life of Morgantown can get a little crazy. This being said, there are still some very down to earth bars and hangouts hidden away. The Apothecary is probably the best place to hangout and enjoy a craft beer by the bottle or on draft. The selection changes day by day and there is always something new or something loved to be had. I have had pints to die for and always venture back to see what's new. I would recommend this bar highly to any passer-by and for all townies to see what we have right around the corner.

Simply put, it's the best place to have a pint (or more) in Morgantown. The small staff are as knowledgeable as it gets regarding craft beer. They have the most extensive beer selection in the area, and perhaps more importantly, their beer is fresh. Their taplines are always clean, and they seem to always have a local (WV) draft selection. It can be shoulder-to-shoulder on weekend nights, but the crowd is generally pleasant and fun. A perfect place to enjoy a pint in good company and discover new craft brews.

Apothecary has quickly climbed the list of great bars in Morgantown. In fact, as far as draft lists and casual hangouts are concerned, Apothecary is probably as good as it gets in the area. I'm a little confused as to the ownership: I know it used to be Jay's Getaway but has since changed names and owners. But a lot of the same faces and a lot of the same beers remained, so it feels more like a smooth handoff in the backfield. Either way, I love this place. So why not the full-fledged five star? Mostly capacity concerns, really. I have enjoyed my visits to Apothecary but have yet to come on a night when I can comfortably sit - well, anywhere. I've had several very good trips to Apothecary and have been impressed with their draft list, prominently displayed in chalk along the main wall when you walk in. But given the surfeit of people crowding not just the entrance, but also the length of the bar, I'm starting to believe seats are little more than myth in this place. Even on a Thursday night, I found the place inordinately crowded. Hey, I'm happy to see business booming at Apothecary, but only find myself wishing that it was a little more convenient to sit and enjoy a great beer. Let me reiterate: I love the vibe, the people, and the beer list at Apothecary. The only drawback is that crazy crowd, which though undoubtedly a boon to the business owner, can be something of a burden for their patrons. If you're at all interested in good beer, this is the place for you.

I wish I found this place earlier in my recent visit to Morgantown. The bar was very clean, comfortable, and dimly lit which I consider a plus. The staff was friendly and I thought the beer selection was very good - a nice mix of belgians, foreign, domestic and local craft brews available via tap and bottle. I'm not a food or beer snob by any means, but I was really struggling to find a place where I could get good beer and was not dominated by college students. I thought the prices were very fair and the atmosphere was perfect as far as sitting down, relaxing, and enjoying a beer (I was there on a weeknight, so can't speak to how crowded it is on weekends). It's fun to try the local brews at the brewhouses in town, but it is also nice to go with proven winners when you really need a nice strong, tasty beer. I will seek out Apothecary next time I am in the area.

I am a regular at this place. It had so many different beers to try and a bunch on tap. If you are into craft beer this is your bar to go to.

Hands-down the best place to get a beer. Not only are the prices fair and you have a huge selection, but the bar tenders will help you find something to try if you are unsure what to order. The food is also good, and the price is more than fair. They've recently added onto the bar with more seating, so a lot more people can be accommodated at one time. If you haven't been here yet you're missing out!

Been here two times. Once prior to the Banff Springs Film Festival and once last night on a whim. Both times the service was excellent. And the choices of beer is pretty incredible. Love the ambiance and atmosphere of the Ale House. Laid back and muted lighting. Has turned into my go-to.

Definitely one of the coolest places to hang out in Morgantown. The beer selection was really great, and the food was mostly hot sandwiches that needed beer to wash down. I will be back.

This is easily the best place to get craft beer in Morgantown!! The staff is extremely knowledgable and friendly. This isn't a place that brings in the rowdy/college party crowd. Ever changing draft menu which is always a good selection, and numerous bottles. They also have a few types of wine. Food here is also yummy. Pretzels with beer cheese are very good, and the kettle chips and french onion dip are great. They also serve a few different types of paninis. Atmosphere is perfect, and this is just an awesome place to hang out.

Hands down my favorite bar in Morgantown. For someone who isn't too keen on beer and can be pretty picky, I love this bar. I always ask for suggestions and Grace or the other bartenders happily give me some advice. I've never tried something here I didn't like. Amazing atmosphere and mainly all adults, grad students, professors, etc. I wish Morgantown had more bars like this one - or perhaps another Apothecary on the other side of town.

We were at another bar in Morgantown on a football weekend and struck up a conversation with some local beer fans. They suggested we visit the Apothecary and we're so glad. Loved the atmosphere and the beer selection. As an out-of-towner, it felt very friendly. In fact, the guys who recommended it to us came over to make sure we found it. How great is that?
(5)Matt C.
Huge selection of bottled and draft beers.
(5)Rolf H.
My favorite bar in mtown. If you like craft beer this is the place to be. And Grace the owner and bartender is super nice and always quick to wait on you! Also does a great job rotating beers.
(5)Audrey H.
The Apothecary is my favorite bar in Morgantown. It's the older crowd - no drunk students acting foolish. The atmosphere is always so comfortable, and Grace and staff are astonishingly knowledgeable with regards to their products. If you love craft beer or if you've hated beer your whole life, this is the place to be because they have beer that tastes like chocolate bars, like raspberry soda, and really every other flavor under the sun! Prices are right on, and while you may not always be able to get a seat, it's worth it to stand and drink in such a great place!

Best part of Morgantown. Bartenders are attentive and make great suggestions from their excellent suggestion. It does get warm when it's packed so come in layers.

In short: Beer Heaven! The have one SERIOUS selection of beer here. Place is small, but cozy. I highly recommend this place for an excellent craft beer. Staff was knowledgeable and pleasant as well.
