Boyd's is a very nice steakhouse. The steaks are tasty as is - no need for steak sauce, although they offer a nice selection of possible additions - and tender. The sides are delicious. The service is excellent, the setting is fun, and there are lots of clever touches on the menu. It is a definite step up from an Outback or a chain restaurant. It's not really fair to have to compare Boyd's to four or five star restaurants in DC and Baltimore. The three stars I gave Boyd's is the same three stars I gave to lots of perfectly satisfying but "nothing special" restaurants in Bethesda or Fell's Point. There are restaurants that I *would* drive for an hour+ out of DC/Baltimore to go to - Frederick's The Wine Kitchen, for example. Boyd's isn't that level of special to be worth the long drive from DC or Baltimore. On the other hand, my girlfriend was stationed for over a year out in the Potomac Highlands on medical student rotations, and so I spent lots of time in Petersburg, Martinsburg, and other places in that part of WV. Boyd's is hands down the nicest restaurant we've eaten at in the region. The long drive from DC/Baltimore to Boyd's wouldn't be worth it, but if I was instead coming from the west, Boyd's would *definitely* be worth driving the same long drive from Petersburg to Boyd's for a special meal. So it is all context. If one is coming expecting a DC or Baltimore level four or five star restaurant experience, no, Boyd's isn't that. Boyd's is a level of restaurant that if it were in DC or Baltimore, you'd be perfectly satisified after eating there, but it wouldn't stand out from dozens of other perfectly satisifying restaurants in the same neighborhood. But Boyd's isn't *in* DC or Baltimore, where there are hundreds of restaurants to choose from. What is "nothing special" in DC or Baltimore, stands head and shoulders above the rest in Petersburg et al. Boyd's is a three-star DC restaurant out in a region where that level of restaurant is extremely rare. And the owners and staff of Boyd's deserve a lot of kudos for accomplishing that.

I recently took a large group here for a work dinner. It was a good experience from booking the reservation to walking out the door. The service was fantastic, and everyone raved about their meals (several people said it was the best steak they'd ever had at a restaurant). Having to choose a restaurant sight unseen can be difficult (we are based in Charleston, WV), but I'm so glad I trusted the Yelp reviews! What a wonderful experience. I'd highly recommend Boyd's.

Steak Benedict for lunch was wonderful. I wanted another, not because it wasn't enough, but because it was that good. Look forward to getting back to try something else.

HD has really made this a top-notch place to enjoy a nice dinner. High class, but inviting enough for your jeans too. The steaks are great and the catfish was awesome too! They also offer a creative selection of cocktails and craft brew - both of which I've enjoyed while sitting at that awesome bar. Owner and management are extremely personable and make a point to make their guests feel comfortable.

The seating area is musty smelling and dark. Not romantic dark. More like "I'm trying to hide the age of the place"dark. Our first time here, the hostess placed the menus face-down so we could read the history of the place on the back. I couldn't read it. It was too dark. It gave me the impression of a museum rather than an eatery. They were good quality steaks, but they were small for the high price. The sides looked lonely in glass dishes. There is no complimentary starter (how about a little bread basket) and there were no refills on iced tea. This place is located in a walkable town, but I'd be tempted to walk by if I came through again.

This place is a hidden treasure! I believe I have just eaten the best steak I have ever eaten. I had it cooked medium well & it was perfect the first time. No need for any steak sauce, which I normally would not have anyway, but I think sauce would ruin this steak. Iced tea was right on, buttermilk mashed potatoes were the best. I have never heard of, let alone eaten buttermilk mashed potatoes. They had a few small lumps which makes them even better. The lava chocolate cake with hand made whip cream, made just before serving, was to die for. The fruits that came with the cake were so fresh & delicious. Now for the service, that's a whole other story! When you go there ask for Rebecca cause she is going to make your "dining tour" something extraordinary! She is such a joy & makes sure everything I'd just perfect for you. She is well worth the extra large tip you ate going to want to be giving her when you leave. This place has so much history & is definitely an asset to Martinsburg, WV.

This is a must see. Tried several other spots in the area but this is the spot. Had a wonderful steak with two amazing sides. Oh man this hit the spot! Awesome atmosphere and excellent service. Be back tomorrow!

I found this little steak house on one of my weekend road trips. I had never been to Martinsburg and wandered around for a couple hours before deciding that Boyds was the place eat. I was by myself and sat at the bar....which was tended by the beautiful and talented, Karen.....but PLEASE, don't call her " Jersey"... A little chit chat and I ordered the 12oz strip with a side of mac & cheese. The salad was more than adequate and the dressing was good. The steak was cooked perfectly and the m&c was made in house. Both were tasty and nicely done. I had a carmel ice cream dessert with house made whipped cream...not out of a can. All things considered it was a great meal. I appreciated the great service and good food. Karen was an especially good bartender.....and conversationalist. I'll be back for sure.

Entered the place 10 before closing time and had one of the best stake of my life. Awesome place .. Friendly staff and amazing food. The owner Boyd.. A really pleasant person. Recommend this place highly.

Steak was absolutely amazing. Well worth the money for steak! What wasn't so great were the sides. Not much flavor and tiny portions. I actually left very hungry. Overpriced for appetizers, drinks and dessert, so we couldn't really order much else! Great atmosphere though. Fun themed music and decor! Just wish the sides and prices were a little more to my taste and budget! Great downtown location though!! =)

Awesome food, Awesome atmosphere, Great staff. My husband and I had the steaks and our son had the duck. The side dishes were just as tasty as the main dish. Even their signature lemon aids were delicious. What a gem in that small town

Boyd's Steakhouse=Great for Martinsburg, Ok for Everywhere Else For the well travelled: If you want a decent meal in comparative splendor give it a shot For Martinsburg residents: Now you don't have to propose to your girl at Applebee's Ok so here's it is if your expecting a DC/Balt quality dinning experience don't get your hopes up but for Martinsburg it might as well be the French Laundry. To the uninitiated Martinsburg West Virginia is home to what I call "The Odd Squad". The Odd Squad is a unaffiliated band of mostly harmless drifters, weirdos, and recalcitrants that wander the streets of a otherwise nice Downtown while deterring legitimate commerce. I don't say this to dissuade you from going but just be prepared. So with that said I have to give the owners of Boyd's credit for taking the risk to put a "upscale" restaurant in Downtown Martinsburg. In addition they have had the good sense to price the odd squad out of coming in too bother your average tax-payer. The interior is decent although a hodgepodge of styles and eras. The bar is alleged to be Al Capones. I'll be a sport and choose to believe that. The bar has a respectable assortment of wine and top shelve liquor. They have 4 taps and they are all "craft beers". Most notably Snake Dog IPA. The menu is for adults and not just glorified "bar food". There are steaks and a stab or two at creavity. I enjoyed the Maryland Crab soup. My steak was good. The Caesar salad could use some work. I would guess they are buying the dressing. The Oysters on the half-shell were fresh although they were pre-shucked and not as cold as I like them. Also the oysters were only served with cocktail sauce no mignonette. The service is great. They definitely are well trained. Give it a try. Who are you to resist? PS to the guy from Baltimore that basically called Martinsburg a Ghetto...I guess who would know better than you.

Had fried green tomatoes, wagyu strip and pistachio dessert. Staff was really friendly and had great recommendations for some out of towners. Thanks Mo!

So this place is the best. The decor is perfect with basically an all wood interior that is very well done. Our meals was out of this world. We all had steaks that was melt in mouth with wonderful flavor. Our waitress was perfect, she made sure our drinks were full, that our meals were perfectly done. This will become one of our go to places for special occasions.

This place is classy! Speakeasy style steakhouse with live music, friendly service and great food. My 12 oz. ribeye had some tendon, but overall I would come here for dinner every time I visit Harpers Ferry.

This was the first time I used yelp to make a culinary decision. The steak was perfection and the wait staff was on the ball. It was an amazing experience.

We are transplanted Philadelphians who kept planning to try and finally made it and were really really pleased. The quality of the food and the service was excellent (thanks again Mo!) I had a perfectly cooked steak and my husband had the crab cakes, generous in size and well seasoned. The appetizers and side dishes were just right and just enough. I threatened to kiss the chef, and we met the owner and gave him kudos for his wonderful restaurant. We will be back and will recommend it to our friends.

My date and I stopped here on a Friday night after he picked me at at the train station in Martinsburg (he lives in the area). What a wonderful treat in DT Martinsburg! Very good steaks- very friendly service (felt like wait staff went out of their way to accomodate us). We did not have reservations (but I would highly recommend for a Friday night!) and yet they found a table for us :) Had a decent bottle of wine- and meals come with two sides. We will return for dinner again :)

What an awesome place. It has only been open since Sept. That was the best steak I have ever eaten. Mashed potatoes with real potatoes and a few lumps. Dessert of lava cake with home made whipped cream. Yum!! Atmosphere of the 1920's. Highly recommended!!!****

The only thing this place had going for it is the adorable wait staff. The lasagna was very sweet. The Mac n cheese had a metallic, almost fishy taste to it. The steak didn't have much flavor. Disappointed in the food quality.

A genuinely outstanding experience. Went with a group of 7 on a Saturday night, restaurant was busy, we were seated immediately and well taken care of for the entire meal. Waitress was attentive from start to finish, including fixing two small issues, one from the bar and one from the kitchen, both fixed immediately with a friendly And apologetic touch. Food was excellent as well, all steaks at the table cooked perfectly, good size portions. So glad we have a restaurant like Boyds in Martinsburg, i look forward to being a regular.

The steaks at this establishment are pretty decent considering the location. Boyd's is located in a small town in Appalachia. Please not that requesting A-1 steak sauce is considered taboo at Boyd's Steakhouse. The restaurant prides itself on making delicious steaks. Martinsburg is really lucky to have such a nice little steak place. I wish the steakhouse was not located in such a suspect part of town . I kind of lost my appetite when I was walking to the restaurant through down trodden neighborhoods. I would highly recommend Boyd's as a nice cultural getaway.

Great place to eat with a true vintage feel. Lots of original furnishings from the 20's with an authentic bar and whisky hutch from Al Capone's estate. Friendly staff and great food in a beautiful and unique setting.

Best steak and soup around. This is what Martinsburg has been waiting on. It's good food with a great staff.
(5)Tracy B.
Great food, great atmosphere, great service and not a chain! Martinsburg has needed this for a long while! Finally!
(5)Mark C.
I have to eat around Martinsburg a lot these days. Honestly, the NY Strip I had here tonight was the best cooked steak I've eaten in Martinsburg. Very cool decor, very friendly staff, don't miss this place.
(4)Tom S.
This is a gem in a rural town. The aged steaks are buttery soft and their seafood is very well flavored and prepared. The ginger sauce that comes with the ahi tuna appetizer is heavenly. I only wish I could afford to eat there everyday.
(5)Sarah B.
Boyd's Steakhouse is a welcomed addition to downtown Martinsburg. The steak was perfectly prepared, the scallops were full of flavor, and the artichoke-crab dip was excellent! Kid-friendly, great atmosphere, great service. Nice to see the owner walking around checking on his patrons. Congratulations Mr. Boyd...it looks you have a successful restaurant. Can't wait to come back to try another dish!

Martinsburg is lucky to have you! Great meal and I was happy to see the place was packed. We enjoyed our filets and the red blend wines. Maybe next time we'll try the lemonade. Our side dishes were great. Can't wait to go back and I wish more restaurants of this caliber would come to the area.
