About TGI Friday
TGI Friday is a casual dining American restaurant chain founded in 1965. The term “TGI” is an acronym for Thank God It's and together the name of the restaurant is often announced as Thank God It's Friday. Over the years of its existence, the TV commercials and other advertisement streams have also twisted the phrase a bit and used it as Thank Goodness It's Friday. The restaurant serves alcoholic beverages primarily. However, they are also known for their low-carbohydrate and low-fat menu items to promote a healthy lifestyle. TGI Friday also offers gluten-free items on its menu for those with gluten intolerance.
Besides the cool name, TGI Friday also has an interesting background story of its origin. The founder of the restaurant Alan Stillman lived in a New York-based neighbourhood full of a young crowd, especially girls from the airline and fashion industry. He started the first TGI Friday restaurant in New York in the hope of meeting single women as there weren't any such public place for young men and women to meet. He invested $5000 on his own and borrowed another $5000 from his mother to buy a bar named The Good Tavern and renamed the premise to Thank God It's Friday, inspired from an expression during his time at Bucknell University.

I liked this place a lot and will be coming back. The BBQ sandwich had plenty of meat and slaw and was very tasty. The potato salad was great and well as the bake beans but I would avoid the mac n cheese. This is much than barnyard in cross lanes so if you're in the area and looking for bbq this is the place to go to.

We eat here usually once a week and the food is always amazing. This is true BBQ and never disappoints! The fresh squeezed lemonade instantly takes me back to my fair/ festival days! I only wish they were open longer or more hours! Only place in the Kanawha Valley that has smoked turkey!

Went to WVSU for two years, now transferring to Marshall University, and this place is what I'm going to miss most about state. I ate here so many times I honestly couldn't count and when I heard they were super clean it was the icing on the cake. The chicken tender salad was my go to, but everything here is good. Such a friendly staff too! I'll be visiting on occasion from Huntington

Ok peeps, heres the skinny on the RIDGE... I like this place and I eat here often.. probably twice a week. This week had a problem. I am disappointed in the way management handled a complaint. I ordered the 2 briskets to go. Got home and began to eat. The sides were good, but the brisket was 2 SALTY to eat. So I called them and explained to them that the brisket was to salty to eat. He explained to me that they rubbed the brisket with salt and seasonings. I know that I am a cook. I know how to cook brisket and smoke meats. But appears that we got the last of the brisket that had soaked in the juice which was LOADED with SALT. We could not eat it because it was so SALTY. I lost 20.00 on food I could not eat and he did not offer to replace the food. BAD management decision. I will give it 1 more shot. I really like this place, but if they charge me again for food that is not edible, I will have to make my voice heard by making a personal appearance in the restaurant and ask for a refund. I am in shock they did not offer to replace the meal. They Knew it was too salty to serve/sale. But the oh mighty profit got in the way of their normal quality food. I will be back after I eat there again next week for an updated FULL review.

BBQ was the real deal, very very good. I did think that the pork shoulder used in the pulled pork had aged a bit more than it should have before cooking and the place was very, very small and disorganized. Felt like a shed converted into a restaurant. People were nice and they were trying hard.

I had a BBQ sandwich Saturday & it was delicious .

Nice and clean. My husband & I ordered the pull pork platters. The pull pork was cold and tasted as it had soaked in water. The BBQ sauce was bland. The bun was cold and the corn muffins were cold. Maybe they need to invest in a warmer since so many items we ordered was cold. We will not be coming back.

Very good food, smoked NOT pressure cooked like too many in the area. Very friendly staff. Fries and BBQ is to die for!
(4)Amber C.
Two amazing couples that work very hard for their customers! The food is AMAZING too! I ate my entire BBQ and I never do that! You guys have the best BBQ anywhere!
(5)David D.
Only reason they didn't get 5 stars is the limited number of sauces they have...I like to try several different regional sauces on my Q. I've visited this store about 10 times. Excellent ribs smoked out front, the aroma draws you in like a moth to a flame!!! Try both of their homemade sauces, I like to mix them. Not just catering, stop in and pick up dinner, I do about once a week. BBQ Pork sandwich is almost enough for 2. Directly across from WVSU.

Great place to dine!!! I go in and get it to go all the time!!! Salads are great, dogs are great, pulled pork is great, turkey is one of my favs, and the ribs my kids can not get enough of! Also my youngest gets a whole basket of corn muffins ever time we go!!! My husband gets the fried bologna all the time or the wings and a burger!!! It is all so delish!!! If you are looking for a place for some great BBQ this is it!!! Oh and I mix the sauces together because I can decide which one I like best! ;-)
