India is the birth place of Chicken Tikka Masala and Curries. Indian foods are prepared with a blend of finely mixed spices quite popular across the region. The spices develop the rich taste in Indian food enough to boggle your mind. The ever-increasing fan base of Indian food around the New York city is steadily increasing because of the large number of Indians who traveled to the land of dreams. The Indians also brought their very own vibrant, colorful, and aromatic authentic dishes for the people in the West. While most of the Indian population is Vegetarian, Indian food is great for people who are looking for vegan or vegetarian food option. If you are a Meat lover, don't get disappointed yet. Indian food also boasts of some popular non-vegetarian dishes too. Few examples are the famous Butter Chicken, Mutton Biryani and Tandoori Chicken are enough to satisfy your taste buds.
Indian food has gained reputation all over the world especially in the United States. You can find many places serving the appetizing Indian food across all major cities in the US. India is a diverse country with different food culture originated from different parts of the country. While the Northern region boasts tandoori dishes and korma offering royal taste, the Western Ghats offers sea foods that is made in naturally sweet tender coconut milk. The South Indian food servers a quality of different dishes made from rice accompanied with spicy chutneys, curries and famous sambhar. Also, the Indian sweets are a delight to relish. If you ever want to have a burst of sugar syrup in mouth, don't forget to try few Bengali Sweets. Be it spicy, tangy, or sweet flavor, you can find everything in the Indian cuisine. Be assured that the melody of spices will surely bring delight to you.

We have been going to this restaurant since the day it opened. We went for lunch today and they insisted on seating us in the center of the room. I asked for a side table, of which there was 5 available, and he said NO they were for 4 people. I wanted to leave but hubby said don't make a scene. The entire time we were there all these tables remained vacant. I will spend the $200 I usually spend at Nawab every month elsewhere. Obviously they don't need or value their loyal customers!

Buffet varies from good to amazing. Sunday tends to be a bit better than the weekdays. Dinner menu is good. My favorite is the paneer.
(4)Ron G.
All of the chicken dishes were overcooked. All of the dishes were severely lacking in flavor. The Buffet also lacked variety. I don't think I will be back anytime soon. That being said, the Mango and Stawberry Lassi were very good. The service was also good and the condition of the dining area was better than most Indian Restaurants. It sucks that the only Indian place in Huntington has such bad food.

I've only been for the buffet, which is fantastic, but they seem to have a strong offering for dinner. Prices are good and the staff is friendly. Not a lot of competition around here, but that doesn't really matter because the food is good.

Doesn't look like much from the outside, but inside is very nice.... Clean and well cared for. You can hardly believe it used to be a RAXX.... Wife and I hit here for the lunch buffet on a Friday. Everything was remarkably good. I suspect some of the normally hotter dishes must be requested as most seemed tame on the buffet. Staff was top notch, friendly and attentive. Ask for it and you'll get it... It's that simple. I will definitely be back for a repeat performance. Please use the buttons below to rate my review! Feedback is appreciated!

Not really indian food - just bland, greasy fair that looks like indian food. The weekend buffet was reasonably priced at about $9, and given that they have a wholly captive market for indian cuisine, I assume they just have to go through the motions to get people in the door. I will revisit for a la carte, and hope there is a little more authenticity in that!

Living in Seattle, I'm no stranger to great Indian food and have lots of options. The food at Nawaab is consistently very good, and they have a diverse menu. Drop by for the buffet if you can, great way to sample a variety of food if you're new to Indian, or get a hearty meal if you're already a fan. Definitely a plus for a town the size of Huntington to have an Indian place like this.

Are you a vegetarian or someone with allergies in Huntington, WV? Then this is the place for you - possibly the only place, if you have to avoid both wheat and soy, but hey! This is some quality food, and they are awesome with allergy concerns and questions. Both the lunch buffet and dinner are solid and service is good. The menu marks the vegan items in the vegetarian section, bhajia and pakora are gluten-free, and you can get actually spicy food if you ask.

I usually do an online order and pick it up. They always get the order correct and are very friendly. The food in my opinion is great!

I've only been here for the Sunday lunch buffet, but it was DELICIOUS. So glad we have at least one Indian option in Huntington, and thank god it's a brilliant one. In fact after looking at the pictures on their website while writing this review I've already decided I'm going here tomorrow haha. Too good!

Being the only Indian place in Huntington, it is good. This is one of the places that I go more for the service than for the food. The food is rather bland for Indian cuisine, but I assume that is to match the WVA appetite. If we are really wanting Indian food, we'll travel to Charleston to Little India.

Lunch buffet is awesome! Can't recommend going there for dinner though. Servings are very small, so you have to order more than one entree which ends up being way too expensive. Great service and delicious food.

I have been to many larger cities and specifically sought out highly rated Indian food (i.e. most recently in San Francisco), and I have to saw Nawab is an absolute jewel for flavor but particularly price. There is no restaurant in Huntington that offers the diversity of quality food found in their lunch buffet set-up for around $8. Some don't like that the food here isn't super spicy. This is true, however, there are some sauces on the cold bar that certainly have a kick! A great place for vegetarians as many of the dishes are meatless. I always enjoy their dessert, too. My favorite is the mango pudding. The service is superb. Your water cannot fall below being 90% full without it being re-filled, and your dirty plate will be gone in a blink. One more thing, don't forget that Sunday is samosa day! My favorite item!

This place has merit - all the way in the middle of Huntington WV we were able to get very good yellow dhal. Ok I admit that that dhal isn't everyone's idea of the dish to order when it comes to going out for Indian food but it's a must try here. Let me put it this way - I usually use the dhal as a yardstick for how good a restaurant is. They definitely got this right. Attentive service & decent ambiance makes for a well rounded restaurant. Can't go wrong when there isn't another desi restaurant in 100+ miles.

It's literally been years since I've been here, but I've still not found an Indian place with better vegetable korma or such a consistently good buffet. The korma is creamy and delicious lots of cashews and the buffet is large, has always been fresh, and allows you to fill a container for take out. The tandoori chicken is better than I've had anywhere else. The place itself is small, unassuming and was obviously a Rax in a previous life. Don't judge. The service was always friendly. I can't recall a rude moment. Nawab is one of the few reasons I'd consider coming back to Huntington (for a visit mind you - I'd never move back).

Found this place on the web while on a roadtrip, and did not know what to expect. This was some of the best Indian food I have had, and that includes NYC and LA (Artesia and Cerritos). The service was quite good, and the food had an excellent balance to it. Also, the garlic nan was some of the best I have ever had. Also, they will let you choose how spicy you want your dish and they will do it up right. The only draw back (and it is a small one) is it was a little more expensive than we were expecting, but compared to Indian places in LA or NYC it is not even a big deal. Definitely try this place if you like good Indian food and happen to be in West Virginia.

The high reviews for Nawab Indian Cuisine are mystifying to me. My husband and I stopped by for the lunch buffet a few days ago, and it's some of the poorest Indian food I've ever tasted. (The only worse place I can think of was in Anchorage, AK.) It's not like the food was gross, but it wasn't tasty either. The entire point of Indian food is the complex flavor profile and at least a little spice (even if faint). BOTH were lacking from Nawab's food. NO spice and very little taste were involved. It was just unappealing mushy food. The naan was pretty tasty, but it was very thin and doughy compared to normal naan. The curries were sadly underwhelming. I was SO looking forward to some good Indian food, but Nawab did not deliver.

This was a really nice surprise. Nice atmosphere. Awesome food....authentic...so good Great Service. Good prices They have a buffet for lunch which has a decent selection of Indian dishes. Beware...if you use the yelp deal they won;t let you use it for the buffet....but still... the buffet is reasonably priced.

Ive eaten at Nawab for over 5 years and can vouch that the food has become more and more americanized. Impossible to not feel sleepy after eating the buffet due to massive salt and butter in almost every dish. Last time i went for dinner, I found multiple hairs in my food which clearly weren't mine. Nawab didnt offer to do anything about until this I complained I wouldnt take the leftovers home. They only offered to take 10% off the price of the dish. This shows how much they are struggling to make money right now. However, the vegetarian selection is good and indeed it is the only indian restraunt in huntington.

LOVE that they label the vegetarian and vegan items clearly on the menu! Fabulous, fabulous. My Mom and I stopped in for lunch, she got the buffet; I ordered the vegetable samosas for appetizers, and the chana masala for my entree. Delicious! The host and servers were very pleasant. Beware the coupon doesn't apply to the buffet (or so they said) but they wound up allowing us to use it anyway.
(4)Tina K.
I liked Nawab but found the dishes to be lacking that certain awesomeness I've come to expect from fresh-cooked Indian food. I ordered my dish "medium" and found it to be more salty than hot. Still, it was good. I wanted to order a vodka cranberry but they had no cranberry juice despite the full bar. The atmosphere, again, is okay but not awesome.

We really enjoyed this place! The food was very good. The buffet was a bit slim, but the food that was there was excellent. The service was okay -- nothing spectacular, but definitely not poor, either! The atmosphere was a little meh, and I think the outside of the building could use some spice, but overall it was an enjoyable experience.

Ahh, thank god, Indian food in Huntington! Yummy chicken tikka masala, and really yummy garlic naan. Haven't ever tried the buffet so can't comment on that. I've eaten at the restaurant and done take-out and both have been fine.

Ugh, disappointing. I have been to THREE of the Nawab's in Hampton Roads so it was challenging to adjust to this place. In the motions it is the same place but the food, service and cleanliness are different. We ordered off the menu and I was not impressed with the freshness or preparation. The buffet looked like a$$, slopped together with nasty scribbled signs for the different items. The food is good but not extraordinary. Bottom line: there ain't much of nothin' in Huntington for dining!
(2)Andrea B.
I love Nawab. The food is best off the menu, but the value is best if you eat the buffet. We like to get takeout. I recommend the chicken tikka masala and the samosas.

We are Nawab fanatics. There aren't many options for ethnic food in Huntington, and this is the only Indian now. Little India is now open in Charleston, but that's an hour away. Quite a drive for dinner. Nawab's, which just hit 15 years of service in the Tri-State, is a white linen tablecloth/water goblet/candle restaurant that is low-key and comfortable. While the wait staff (usually extremely attentive) is formal, they will make you laugh and help make your meal enjoyable. Lunch is pretty good, and definitely how the place stays open. The buffet is very affordable and very popular. However, it's mostly chicken or vegetarian dishes and everything is spiced mild. There's always naan and one dessert, as well as a salad bar. When you sit you get water, as well as "paper bread" and chutney. I'm not sure what the actual name is, but it's delicious. The menu is very typical Indian fare. Every dish is available with chicken, lamb or goat and there are a lot of vegetarian and seafood dishes. I stayed with the tikka masala for awhile (like most Indian newbies) but now I've tried a little more. The mahkni is wonderful, the korma is very good, the palak paneer is yummy, the vindallo is good. I've actually never really had a dish at Nawab's that I didn't enjoy. If you want spice, go at least medium. Mild is very mild. My toddler doesn't even blink when he eats the mild. You get a choice of naan, and we always choice garlic. It's made fresh and amazing! The cherry naan is good too and makes a nice dessert. However, if you want real dessert, you've got to get the rice pudding!! Chilled, and slightly minty, it's the best part of the meal. It's a very small bowl, but we normally eat so much during the entree that a small dessert is favorable. Do not pass it up!

I'm updating my review.. I still think the food is great! I've had the Vegetable Masala and the Baingan Bharta. The wait staff is always friendly and even remembers me now- A++ I recently tried the buffet, though, and it was less than spectacular. And I finally got dessert. The custard they have on the menu is not the custard that they actually carry apparently (I've checked several times). It is a mango flavored custard. I got the custard and my friend got the mango ice cream. Neither were that great. So- stick with the menu, skip the buffet and dessert and you'll be in good shape!

The samosas were great! The vegetarian dishes are really good. Certainly worth trying.
(4)Dania D.
Great place! Expecially for vegetarian and vegan options in Huntington. I have family in the area and ALWAYS make a point to stop at Nawab. :)
(4)Mike B.
The inside could use some updates but the food is pretty good. They have a lunch buffet that has plenty of options. I have used them for carry out a bunch of times and they do a nice job of packing up the food and make sure everything is correct.
(3)Garrett B.
Saturday & Sunday lunch buffet is the best time to go due to more choices on the buffet.
(4)Garrett M.
This place is terrific. I was asked throughout high school by a close Indian friend of mine to try Nawab. Well, last year (some 9 years later), I gave it a shot. Unbelievable taste. If you like Indian food, this place is dead on. Also, the waiters are tenacious about refilling your water.
(4)John C.
Very good food, and a relaxed atmosphere. The staff was very friendly, and the portions were very generous. Everything we tried was excellent. Some great choices - Chicken Korma, Chicken Chilly, any of the lamb dishes.
(4)Peter D.
I didn't think I liked Indian food until I came here. The weekend (Thurs-Sat) buffet is better than the weekdays, and if you order of the menu, the freshly made food is incredibly flavorfull. Plus, if you like spice, the buffet tends to be mild, but you can order the menu to spice order. I recommend the chicken masala and any naan (flat bread) but the garlic is my favorite.
(4)Rick D.
Very good food although their idea of medium hot differs from mine! The lamb was tender and the crab dish her mom had was quite good! All in all a great and tasty meal! I especially liked the flatbread/crisp they served at the beginning of the meal it was spicy and quite flavorful.
(5)Christie B.
So I'm biased because I lived in LA for a few years and we have some amazing Indian restaurants but Nawab is really good. The food is flavorful, hot, and the meat was good quality. The restaurant is also really clean which is necessary. Their Saag in particular was awesome, one of the better Saag dishes I've ordered. The service is ok. The food came our fast but the wait staff was a little slow. The parking lot is huge which is a huge plus for me. Shouldn't have any trouble finding a spot.

UPDATED: This is one of my absolute favorite restaurants and I really wish I could give them five stars but there are a couple of problems. First the good things though! Almost all of their food is delicious and they have an excellent selection of breads. My favorite dish is the chicken koorma and I have to stop myself from getting it every time so that I can try something new! The only problem I have is that they sometimes overdo it on the saffron in the dishes that have it, its not pleasant to take a bite and have your mouth flood with the taste of the saffron you just bit into. Also, a complaint my husband sometimes has is that the food isn't spicy enough. The service is usually the best in town, I'm almost always satisfied with the exception of one incident. The last time we were there, my husband and I each ordered a dish and I also ordered some of their delicious chicken koorma so that I could take it home and eat it the next day. We both had a lot of leftovers of our meals (another plus, big portions) plus the uneaten chicken koorma so we asked for 3 boxes, one for my husbands chicken chili and the naan, one for my chicken briyani and one for the chicken koorma (its very runny so its not a good idea to put it in a box with anything else). The woman server (who I think may have been one of the owners?)looked at our dishes, hesitated and proceeded to tell us that, no, we only needed two boxes and ran off to get them before we could protest. It took my husband offering to buy an extra box for her to bring us another one. She also talked to us like we were 5 the whole time she served us, it was very unpleasent. I will definatly be going back, but will be leaving to go somewhere else if I see her again. UPDATED: The restaurant left a comment that the lady wasn't one of the owners, just part time help, so it's good to know that I can go more often without fear of running into her lol. I went there last night and tried the chicken curry, which is just as good as the chicken koorma, but without the saffron bits :D My husband ordered the chicken vindaloo which was excellent and very spicy!. He also ordered their chicken and spinach soup and couldn't get enough of it, it was like homemade chicken noodle soup but better and stronger. We ordered the fried vegtables for an appetizer (can't remember the name, alas) and they were excellent, crispy and tasty but not very filling, perfect for an appetizer. For dessert we had the Gulab Jamun (SP?) a deep fried cheese ball in a honey sauce. It tastes like little balls of sponge cake (the texture is the same too) with warm honey sauce. It is delicious and the perfect size after the large entree portions. UPDATE 2: Also delicious, the Goat Pasanda, which is in a similar sauce to the chicken Korma. The goat is served on the bone and you always get a generous portion of meat. My husband has a new favorite, the Chicken Chili, and he's gotten in three times in a row now.

Nawab was my first experience with Indian food. It was alway a treat for my friends and I to go there for lunch after a test or between lectures. I love all the options of the buffet. I'm always way too stuffed when I leave, but it is delicious.
(4)Scott D.
This is not the best Inidian buffet I've been to, but it is very solid. The selection is not very large, however what is out is all worth eating. If you're looking to get a lot of food, a lot of flavor, and to spend little money, then this place if amazing. Be aware that the staff will fill your water glass after almost every sip. I haven' t been there in a while, but I can't imagine that this service has changed.
