Great pizza, excellent meatballs, and fresh salads. Small interior with not too many seats, but still a great option for Harper's Ferry!

Didn't like the pizza at all, the dough is too thin and watery. I do love the baked ziti though, so good! I'd suggest skipping the pizza altogether and trying a pasta dish. The place gives me a headache always, always too smokey and smells like gas, so we always order for pick up.

I eat at lot of pizza. Mena's is fine. Harpers Ferry is not a culinary paradise, so your options are limited to begin with and Mena's is a fine option. We ordered pepperoni pizza and coke (pretty standard). The waitress mentioned they were short staffed, so I didn't dock a star for our long wait for food, but it's worth mentioning. Shortly after getting our food she asked if we needed a box - we felt rushed unnecessarily as there was no shortage of tables and closing time was two hours away. Again, a fine pizza / dinner option so long as you have the appropriate Harper's Ferry expectations. I wish they served beer. Credit card minimum of $10.

Excellent food! The pizza was exceptional. Had the 7 topping special, asked the staff to make what is the best. Excellent. Garlic knots very good without the usual dripping oil. Antipasto salad very good but could have used some more cheese. My son had the pasta special - garlic and oil pasta. He ate the entire plate and still had a piece of the pizza. Just an outstanding meal, with an outstanding staff.

Tasty eats! Very family friendly. Our picky eater kids ate all their portion and wanted more. Nice find on a quiet street in Harpers Ferry.

We were staying in the historic downtown area of Harpers Ferry, but it was pouring outside so BF and I didn't want to venture out. Plus we had a cozy room at a local Inn, and this place had good reviews so we decided to order. There's no online menu but the person on the phone patiently went over the different options and answered all my questions. We settled on a bacon/pepperoni/onion pizza, garlic knots, and cannoli. Our delivery arrived in under 30 min, complete with crushed red pepper on the side as requested. The pizza was hot, with a great ratio of cheese/crust with lots of good toppings. The garlic knots were...well they are garlic knots so super yummy. The cannolis were also fantastic. Plus it was cheap! Overall, I would love to order from here again. I'm sad they aren't located closer to where we live in downtown DC. Fast delivery of delicious food for a reasonable price!

Average pizza. Dough was thin and soggy. Food came out one plate at a time(including fries that came out 30 mins before the cheese steak... Which was burnt). Very slow! Commented on fries coming out so early before the sandwich and they were indifferent. Asked for new fries to come out with the sandwich and the weren't going to do it but eventually did. It's an ok place if you don't have high expectations. I wouldn't go out of my way to eat there.

The primary advantage of this place is its distance from the tourist traps in 'downtown' HF. It's quite a walk uphill so be prepared to sweat if you don't have transport, but the place is friendly and the service is fast without being rushed. The pizza is your average greasy pie, but the garlic knots are actually very, very good. A welcome option if you're in Harpers Ferry.

Ordered two large pizzas, mushroom and pep, the other sausage, green peppers and onions. Good flavor but overboard on the onions. The dough was good and the sauce was good as well. Would go back.

Delicious pizza and I'm a picky pizza eater. Great crust, sauce, and tons of yummy cheese. We also had a cheese steak special with mushrooms and peppers. It was delicious too. Bread was very fresh and not too heavy. We had cheese sticks and thought the crust was too thick. Otherwise overall a great spot! Note they don't serve beer or wine. I'm not sure about bringing your own. Very reasonably priced!! Enjoy.

Really nice place to eat. Just passing through so it was good to find a place with Italian comfort food. My wife had spaghetti and mushrooms while I had stuffed shells. We both really enjoyed our dinners (which included a small salad and plenty of bread sticks). Atmosphere was nice and the service speedy. Would definitely come back again.

Good spot for lunch or dinner. Pizza. Good. Salad with house dressing. Friendly service. Good prices. Would come back next time we're in harpers ferry.

I enjoyed dinner at Mena's during my stay in Harper's Ferry. I was hiking the Appalachian Trail and the restaurant was convenient to get to from the hostel in town. Portion sizes were large and well prepared and the prices were moderate. I recommend the eggplant parmesan over spaghetti.

Exceptional service and food. My husband and I just ate here for the first time. I ordered just the garlic knots because I wasn't really hungry. They were a little hard, but pretty good. The homemade marinara sauce that came with them was very tasty. My husband really enjoyed the spaghetti with sausage. We will definitely come back when we're back in the area. Our server was really friendly and it seemed like she did a lot of the cooking herself.

Conveniently open later, this mom and pop pizza place hit the spot - chewy and hot - a little greasy, but solid. Would have given it 5 stars if it had been cooked longer to crisp up the crust a touch and brown the cheese. Really like that they serve San Pellegrino sodas.

We went here after kayaking. My bf had the meatball sub and I got the chicken Parmesan. The food was decent for a small town and the staff was friendly. We left in a hurry and my friend forgot his Progo and Oakleys sunglasses. The waiter ran after our car to give it to us. I love the service and the kind people that work here. I would definitely come back here to try their pizza!

Decided to give this a try, even though doesn't look like much on the inside. But the reviews were mostly good, and there aren't many places to eat unless you go all the way into lower Harper's Ferry (and the hours on those places are always strange). The pizza very well might be good -- but I was just dropping in for lunch and didn't really want a pizza after a heavy breakfast and what would probably be a big dinner. So, I ordered the small calzone -- which, wasn't small (not necessarily a knock, but I can't imagine how the large would be any bigger because this took up an entire large pizza pan, so I am skeptical of if they just got my order wrong). The calzone only comes with pepperoni, cheese and sauce. You have to pay more than a buck per topping to add any veggies! Regardless, I added spinach and mushrooms, and I'd be surprised if more than five or six pieces of either actually made it into the calzone. The calzone comes out heaped way up, but it's hollow, full of air. OK, well, there's lots of cheese... and lots of water. The sauce is watery, and they definitely did not drain the spinach or mushrooms before throwing them inside and cooking them. Cooking basics ignored! I also witnessed a very tiny chicken wrap, smaller than a McDonald's snack wrap, with overcooked chicken. The wrap also had next to no toppings, and the potato chips with which it was served were of very low quality. The service was also very slow, especially in terms of getting the check after you've finished your meal. Mena's gets points for good crust on the calzone (the top part that wasn't soggy), a pretty good cheese blend and having Coke products. But that's it. Be warned: Most of their appetizers are pre-made and sitting under a heat lamp in front for who knows how long. It really just seems like you'll want to take the 2-3 mile trip up the road to Charles Town for good food because Harper's Ferry fails to impress every time I'm there (with the exception of the B&Bs). If you want pizza, there's a Pizza Hut and a Papa John's up the road.

Went here because we were hungry after walking about the trails. We ordered a large pizza, and when it came out it wasn't even cut properly. When we picked up a piece all the cheese fell off and the sauce was really watery. The cheese could have very well have been plastic it was that nasty and cheep. The pizza made us super sick from the lack of quality products put into it. On top of the food not being good the people working there were sitting out in the dinning area on their phones and laptops the whole time. They were staring at us and making us really uncomfortable and unwelcome. I highly suggest you not eat here.

Nice people. The pizza is tasty but it is soggy at the center perhaps because they are too generous with the cheese. When I say "soggy" I mean that I couldn't fold a slice side to side and eat it with my hands.

Great little place. Good pasta and pizza. Friendly staff and located in old town harpers ferry, would recommend.

We've been staying in Harpers Ferry for a month (still here during the time of this review) and have gotten Mena's pizza several times during our stay. It's delicious, affordable and fast. We haven't branched out from the pizza menu, but the pizza we've received deserves 5 stars!

If your local, like me, you hang your hat here. I raised my kids on this pizza. Formerly King's Pizza, Mena took this operation over from her father and has been doing a fantastic job ever since. Some say better but I gotta give Mr. Ariano respect. There are 3 restaurants in town worth eating at. This is one of them. If you're in town visiting the park, stay away from the tourist trap eateries with their overpriced, bad food and pretentious staff and go up and over the hill to Mena's. There is a lot more to see than just the "Lower Town." The pizza is better than most and definitely the best in town. Subs are good, too. ALWAYS get the cannoli. Ask for an espresso. They don't offer it, but if enough people ask, maybe we can get some good espresso in town. Don't act like a tourist, eat at Mena's!

We had a great time, ate great food, and enjoyed talking with the owners. Nice family-owned Italian restaurant.

When my party first arrived, we seated ourselves in the relatively tiny pizzeria. It didn't feel cramped, but that may be because it was not crowded at the time. After a few minutes, our waitress came over with menus, and we ordered some appetizers. The garlic knots, which come with marinara sauce, were pretty amazing, and though the broccoli roll (I forget the exact name) took a while to make, it was pretty good, as well. I went with the hot veggie sub, and that was decent, though it didn't have that special touch. The restaurant offered free Wi-Fi and had a relaxed atmosphere. The prices were a bit on the high side for certain dishes, especially considering the portions; however, this varied per item. For instance, the broccoli roll was a similar price to the garlic knots, but the amount of garlic knots outweighed the broccoli roll and was a better value (taking in the portion and taste); yet my $8 veggie sub was fairly large and worth it in portion alone. One thing to note for water drinkers is they did not have free water since they only served bottles of water. All in all, if we visit Harper's Ferry again, I would be happy to stop by Mena's Pizzeria once more.

We were so happy to find a local place with good pizza! The crust there is really good, and you can't beat their cheese pizzas (my kids favorite). Probably the best inexpensive place to eat in Harpers Ferry.

First time to order Mena's pizza for delivery. Price OK for 14" half meat and half veggie. Delivered HOT. Good. Pizza was disappointing. Crust chewy and overall seemed to be very greasy. Would not recommend it. Period.

We should have gotten the pizza! We were camping in harper's ferry for the weekend and since it was raining decided to go into town to have a sit down dinner. I read the two reviews posted about Mena's and figured we could give it a go since it was something everyone liked, Italian food. I was in the mood for some eggplant and decided I would heed the advice the one of the past reviews and try it out. I was so disappointed. The breading was not good. It was very dense yet light in color. The eggplant was almost negligible. I could taste the oil from frying and it was not seasoned. I took about 3 bites and didn't eat anymore eggplant. The salad was your typical garden salad, not bad but not anything special. garlic knots were delicious! would definitely recommend those! boyfriend got the meatballs, they were rubbery and unappetizing. he was also disappointed. I again, had another lapse in judgement and ordered the fried calamari. it was depressing. A few fried pieces that didn't look like calamari. all you could taste was the batter, which was not good. the plate was sad, sad, sad. Overall, i dont' think we will return. The pizzas looked decent and we immediately regretted our orders after they were put in front of us. Would've liked to have given more stars but unfortunately it just wasn't a good experience.

Some of the best Italian food I've had in a while. The ziti and spaghetti eggplant parmigiana came out piping hot, and were clearly made fresh. The cannoli were fantastic, and the salads were made with fresh, delicious vegetables.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.

Pizza

Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.

Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.

Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.
