Pizza
Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.
Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.
Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.

I enjoyed the atmosphere of Sirianni's Cafe. The front door is an elaborate decorative antique screen door. When you walk in the tables are an assortment of sizes and style of chairs. However, two friends and I went there on a busy night and had to sit with another group of people at a large table. It was weird, but we were thankful to get a spot! We saw dozens of customers turned away by the manager because there was no seating, despite having three tables set empty for over half an hour. With a limited space they should not allow reservations. They could have served many customers while the tables set empty. There is also a lot of wasted space that they could utilize for seating. The food is amazing! We had stuffed peppers with cheese (which is not worth the $2 up charge!) and the pizza is fantastic! They have a great selection of craft beer as well!

Best pizza ever ! Both locations, great service! Need to make the dining room larger in the Canaan location. Always packed!

Food was great! Had the stuffed hot peppers and the artery clogger pizza. Both were perfect! Decent selection of beer. Only the lack of AC keeps it from being 5 stars.

We decided to order pizza our first night in Canaan Valley because we didn't feel like cooking. This was the only place that was still in business (that had pizza). Our group as a whole was not impressed. Pizza was burnt... Cardboard with sauce and cheese would have been better unfortunately. Maybe they were having an "off day" but from now on we'll just bring our own supplies and make our own pizza at the property we rent. It was a disappointing experience after our long drive.

Been coming here for pizza for the last 15 years.... They have the greatest pizza ever. The staff is wonderful. Buy a shirt before you leave!!!!!!!

Fantastic restaurant - defiantly worth the drive off the mountain. We went for lunch. The salads were great - fresh ingredients and the house dressing was delicious. I had the lemon linguini - fresh mushrooms great lemon garlic sauce. My date had pizza which was all home made and fresh ingredients. Defiantly a must stop for a good meal - but if your going for dinner have a reservation!

I love this place. Have been to Sirianni's many times. This is the best pizza in the Mountain State. The folks are friendly, the decor is funky, and they have been serving pizza since Reagan was President. The front door screen by local artist Joan Crawford is a superb, divine, and utilitarian work of art. Sirianni's is funky WV at it's finest.

This place is a gem of Davis, WV. Stopped in for pizza and it was amazing, I ate a medium by myself! We also ran in quick for some hoagies after a morning of trails at Camp 70 road and they were the best Italian hoagies we've had in a long time. It has a unique decor but the staff is super friendly. If you're around Davis you MUST stop here for lunch or dinner.

Neat little place with a small-town vibe. The pizza was great. The dough could be thin or thick, and customizations are accepted. The pasta was ok. I wish they had more variety of pastas. The aglio e olio (garlic and oil) sauce was very garlicky. I wish the garlic was chopped up a little more, and maybe toasted before adding the oil. Nice craft beer selection too!

The salad, while of the decent green variety, wasn't washed so I got a mouthful of grit and had to throw the rest of it out. The lemon pasta had probably three ingredients: lemony oil, pasta, and mushroom; no salt, no flavor whatsoever. A high school kid could make better pasta w/o trying.

Very good pizza, great toppings and dough. Lots of tourists and locals. Interior is great too.

This is, hands down, my favorite pizza...and I've had a lot of pizza. I've had pizza in New York City and it's simply NOT as good. Sure, I have to drive 4 hours to get it, but if I'm driving 4 hours for pizza, it's not going to be in New York. I don't know how this place does it, but their pizza is always spot on. Everything from the crust to the sauce to the cheese is absolutely divine. I've never had a bad experience at Sirianni's and I've been eating their pizza since I was a little kid. I highly recommend this place. Just remember to bring cash or your checkbook. They don't do plastic.

There are two locations - ate in at the Davis one and had take out from the one closer to Canaan Valley Resort. Salad & pasta were great as well as the pizza. Glad to support a local business.

Definitely a potential favorite when we're in the area! We had the Neapolitan pizza, which is basically a margherita pizza with spinach. It came out quickly and was soooooo delicious! The homemade crust was that perfect balance between crunchy on the edges and kind of chewy. The medium pizza was too much for my daughter and me, so...elevensies, FTW! Our meal cost about the same as if we went to a fast food place, but we got a fresh, delicious, homemade pizza! We will be back!

Overpriced food and honestly nothing to write home about. The place was packed Saturday night, and since they dint have a lot of room I felt super squeezed. Cash or check only. No credit cards. Won't be dining there next time we are in the area.

Stopped here on our way out of town after a weekend of skiing. It was exactly what we wanted, with great hoagies, pizza and garlic bread (basically pizza crust with cheese and garlic... So good!). Italian and meatball hoagies were great, and both pizzas were delicious.
(5)Seth L.
Great pizza, good selection of beers and good prices. Way better than any other options nearby.
(4)Dawn L.
Pizza was OK, but had several burnt patches. The BBQ sauce on the chicken BBQ pizza tasted like baked bean sauce - thick and sweet. The pasta was the oiliest stuff I've ever seen - literally puddles of butter/oil in the bottom of the bowl. Garlic "chips" (pizza crust, garlic, cheese) were a good appetizer, garlicky but not overwhelming. Service was fine although it was hard to find a table at 6:15 ... I guess that's rush hour after the slopes close at 5. Overpriced for what you get, but not so many options in town. Ice cream at $1/scoop was a bargain and a good treat for the kids.

Been coming here for over 20 years and its hit or miss. Recently it has become a last resort to take family and friends on ski weekend. Its good pizza but nothing special. They seem to have lost their desire to make it good pizza to just making pizza and shoving it to guest to be grateful. Last two time, the waitress made mistakes and treated us like it was out fault. Then, since it took 45-60 minutes to get our pizza, we were not about to have them take it back and fix it and then wait another hour. Pricing - way over priced for what your getting.
(2)Amy C.
We got pizza and it was terrific! If you are ever in Davis this is the best little pizza place. We got it to go and got it back to the park without any issue. It was terrific and if we are even in Davis again, it is a definite must!
(4)Wade C.
Great pizza! Service was wonderful. The Artery Clogger Pizza was just right. The onion soup was also very flavorful (not traditional "French" style, but really good). I would definitely recommend this place to friends. My entire party was satisfied.
(4)James F.
Stopped by while we were in the area for New Years. Couldn't decide between the XXX and Braga Boys so we had them make a pie half and half. The pizza was incredible, as usual! We love Sirianni's.
(4)Bradley C.
I love this place! I used to go here after mountian bike rides with friends while we were staying at Blackwater Falls State Park and we all loved it! I have rediscovered Sirianni's recently and I make a point to ride my motorcycle a couple hours to get here. And it has become my dad's favorite pizza joint so eventhough we are all the way up in MD, we make the trip on our motorcycles to get this awesome pizza. It has become a really nice father and son thing to do! The pizza is the real thing - hand tossed fresh made crust with real ingredients. The service is kinda WV hippy and casual. Big city folks just need to chill out. Don't miss it!

We ended up eating here after finding that everything else in the area seems to be closed on Tuesday evenings. The food was good and the portions were large, but nothing outstanding. They don't seem to cool the place and we were there on an 80+ degree day, so it was a little steamy inside.

As a resident of New England, I'm very snobby about my pizza. I have to say that I was so impressed with the pizza here, and they had great craft brew available on tap and in bottles.

We went to Sirianni's on a Sat night for dinner. We heard that they don't usually take reservations & that they can get really crowded, so we went early (5:45 PM). There were a few other people there for dinner when we arrived & it was packed by the time we left. So, I have mixed emotions about this place... My pizza was delicious- thin crust, great sauce, & the perfect amount of toppings. However, everything else was just so-so. I wasn't impressed by my salad & my husband's pasta dish was good, but nothing spectacular. So, my overall impression of this place is that it's the place to go to if you're looking for great pizza, but don't come here looking for a stellar authentic Italian meal. But seriously, the pizza was delicious.

Went to Sirianni's last night for dinner. Heard great things about the place. The good part was the food was very good and very affordable. Limited selection of draft beer. Pizza, pasta, and salads were as expected. Thin crust and good dose of toppings. However the service sucked. We arrived at 8 pm on Saturday night. A few tables were occupied, so the place was almost empty. We ordered their "chips" as we were starving. The waitress took our order but after asking about them 4 times, they finally arrived 45 minutes later, minutes ahead of our pizza. We had to constantly hail the waitress, as she was pre-occupied with rolling silverware into napkin, making pizza boxes, and other stuff.

Food was fantastic. My wife and I got the Johnnie pizza, the garlic chips, and a salad. Everything was delicious. Wish I had gone back a second time during our short stay. Service was okay for us, our waiter neglected to bring us a water after asking 2x, but other than that this place is fantastic.

I ate here on a recent trip to Canaan Valley. The atmosphere is amazing! You can write little notes to put on the table. Reading them was fun!! The food was great. I had pizza and my boyfriend had pasta. Both dishes were delicious. Best place to eat in the area!!! Its cash or check only (they took an out of state check though)!

I don't get into the area as often as I'd like, but every time I vacation in Canaan Valley, it is a tradition to eat at Sirianni's on the first night. The food is good, but (for a non-local) it's the ambiance that makes it so nice. Siriannis has an almost perfect 'away yet still at-home' feel that so many places fail to get right. It is almost always busy, but that never detracts from their awesome food, or the awesome people that work there. I've never had a bad dish here, and I continue to look forward to visiting every time I'm on vacation.

My fiance and I were staying in neighboring Thomas for a show at the brewpub (which I loved) and wanted to go out for a nice dinner. Being that this is West Virginia, there were not many options, and some of those few options didn't turn out to be options, as they were closed on Sunday. But we were happy to stumble up on Sirianni's, where we were greeted by a friendly waitstaff who offered to seat us several times before we were ready. Unfortunately, we got the one less-than-welcoming waitress, a teen who was not rude but did not jump to help up. She was fine, competent, though. There's a solid selection of beers - I had two different, local IPAs for a pretty low price. There was some confusion about which beers were and weren't available, but I got them nonetheless. The food was pretty great. We had the garlic bread appetizer. Because we got a small pizza, we got a large appetizer - don't do this. The app was HUGE, way too much to eat between the two of us in addition to pizza. This isn't a complaint - big portions are cool with me - but just a warning. The pizza - I think it was the chicken and red onion specialty - was also very good. We had to special order because it included walnuts and my fiance has a severe nut allergy. They got that right, which is a big plus. Sounds pretty great? It was, and I was planning a four-star review in my head until we asked for the check and we were told that they didn't take debit cards. Now, I understand that credit card companies and banks can be less than kind to small businesses, and the situation seems to be especially bad in West Virginia - we saw a lot of notices about "no debit card purchases under $5". I'm sympathetic to that. But there was no sign about not taking plastic displayed anywhere in the restaurant. If there had been? We would have gone elsewhere. I use my debit card for EVERYTHING and almost never carry cash. Making my fiance drive 20 minutes to get to an ATM was a huge inconvenience, and that's enough to bump a good experience here down a star for me.

Best pizza outside of NYC if not the best. Get the Johnny's.

My friends and I had the vegetarian pizza and it was delicious; service was great too!

Next time I'm in Canaan Valley, I'll most likely eat every meal here. After a torturous meal at Black Water the previous night, we went for pizza at Sirianni's. Slow service is, apparently, a running theme in Canaan, but the pizza was good. The crust was crunchy and light and a little doughy, a bit bland but the sauce made up for it. We ordered pineapple and salami and a pitcher of beer. The little notes past patrons leave under the glass-topped tables is an added bonus for voyeurs like me. P.S., it would appear many couples come to Davis to get some nookie time in.
(4)Frank W.
Don't be fooled by the other ratings but this place is not that great but (I guess) the competition in Davis is just worse. Pizza average and so was the pasta dish I had. Salad was fresh and crunchy but the house garlic dressing was not to my liking. 3 stars. The worst was the time it took to get food and our service was slow. The place was busy but not as crowed as we had seen it last winter. 2stars.

Yum... You'd have to go many, many miles to match the quality of the food at Sirianni's . And then you wouldn't be able to match the atmosphere. It is a "must' if you are in the Davis, Thomas, Canaan Valley area of WV. The pizza is my favorite, and the italian sausage is the real thing. Go hungry and you may still be taking home the left overs. Note that they are cash only and are not fast food .
(4)Ann T.
A great place to get dinner after a day of skiing in Davis. Pizza with sausage and green peppers was tasty and just the right amount of food (medium for two people), and you can't beat $3 beers (actually, this seems pretty normal in Davis/Thomas, but felt like a great deal to a citydweller). The atmosphere is warm and laid back, the service is good, and the walls are crowded with all kinds of old junk, sports paraphernalia, pennants, etc. Cash only, but very reasonably priced. Hit the spot!
(3)Heather M.
Here is what I'll say. We drove from Morgantown to Charleston via Davis just so we could go to Sirianni's. Believe me it wasn't a short cut. We added several hours to our drive simply for the pizza.
(4)Tristan G.
THIS is THE BEST PIZZA ON THE PLANET, PERIOD! I've driven hours upon hours just to get to this place, located outside the quaint resort of Canaan Valley. The sauce, crust, everything is home made. The cheesebread is to DIE for, and the pizza is absolutely incredible. Send in a post card from a faraway place, they'll place it on the table.. maybe next time you visit, it'll be there! By all means, do whatever you can to stop at this tiny place in the middle of nowhere. It is absolutely worth it (and extremely affordable). -Tristan in California

Great local MBC trail ale drew me in but the Baga pizza (blk beans, Italian sausage, olive oil & hot pepper rings) and Lemon Chess pie will bring me back. TheI've found no D/C or credit card service is to be expected in these parts of WV. I would rather keep the costs reasonable than expect them to have it. Note: we had a torturous meal at Black Water the previous night also so this was greatly appreciated.
(5)Missy M.
A trip to Canaan Valley wouldn't be complete without pizza from Sirianni's. The pizzas are all delicious and every variation we've tried is great. Though we have always gotten our pies to go the ambiance/vibe seems fun.

Where's the beef? Any person growing up in the eighties knows the answer to this question and it's always been Wendy's until this spring evening when we found ourselves in this lonely town, Davis, buried in the WV mountains. Beef is in everything from the parmesan bread's "marinara" sauce to your entree's sauce. Order chicken with noodles and marinara sauce? You're getting beef in it with no mention on the menu. Looks like I've jumped right to my gripes with my mediocre entree and somewhat more tolerable appetizer but this isn't where this restaurant started to give me material for this lousy review. It started as soon as we sat down. It was probably 63 degrees outside, but the inside of this place was like an oven. Easily 79+ degrees with the heat of the ovens permeating into the dining area. Next, my girlfriend decided on the riesling (the house wine) and I chose the Cabernet. The waitress came back with my Cab and notified my girlfriend that they were out of the Riesling so she reluctantly chose the next white wine in the lineup. That too was unavailable leaving her only non-red wine option a White Zinfandel. My girlfriend chose a chicken dish with white sauce and linguini pasta. They knowingly brought her entree out with angel hair pasta, apologizing at the table as they handed it to her so they knew they had messed up and didn't give us the opportunity to complain. This was completely unacceptable. They gave her the option of making another dish as she watched me eat my dish or let it get cold while they started hers from scratch. Obviously, she took the angel hair. The pasta was overcooked and I don't need to rehash my gripes with the salacious use of beef. While cashing out, I was shocked when they catapulted me back to 1983 by telling me that they only accept cash. Who uses cash in 2011? My suggestion is if you're looking for a pizza and a beer, this place may be OK. If you're looking for a nice, classy meal while you're on vacation you'd be better off going to the grocery store a few blocks away, picking up a bottle of wine and two chicken parm hot pockets to nuke in the microwave. The only redeeming part of this meal was the glass of Cabernet I had.
