Great for breakfast or lunch. Very flavorful food and the orange juice tastes fresh. We went there two days in a row for lunch. Good price too.

Was in town for a couple of days and found First Watch. Great restaurant and great service. Had their chicken Palermo sandwich - delicious!!! Also had to try one of the pancakes everyone is talking about. Ordered the carrot cake pancake and have to say it is one of the best pancakes I have ever had. Will definitely be back if I am I town again.

Def a breakfast place for all egg eaters. It doesn't really have anything that spectacular but you can't beat the quality of food. I'll always return.. and sometimes they have cute servers. It helps my appetite when I look at a beauty, rather than a beast. #GuyCode

The food at First Watch is pretty decent. Nothing to write home about, in my opinion, but there really aren't any restaurants in Charleston that are. Brunch is a way easier time to get in than breakfast and weekdays are usually easier than weekends. Don't even bother trying to get in on a Sunday

All about the Omelets ! ! ! ! ! Nice staff, in and out in .30 mins

When visiting West Virginia for the first time, I confess that my Malibu-area sensibilities braced for the worst. But First Watch was a breath of fresh air--enough to visit twice. Coffee is an expectation--mugs are at each table, and they leave a carafe. The menu is varied with savory and healthy options. Egg white substitutes or other healthy options are welcomed. It tasted fresh and made us all want to go again--which we did. The service was fairly quick, even as it was crowded. Definitely recommended.

On layover at CRW and really enjoyed the blueberry pancake with REAL maple syrup. Good/fast service. Left a carafe of coffee on the table which I always appreciate.

First Watch in downtown Charleston is a diner-cafe style restaurant. Though suffering from the aesthetics of a chain, First Watch never the less provides ample portions of well made breakfast foods (I've only been there for breakfast) and an attentive staff. The food is well priced and tastes fresh with eggs being done just right to style requested and potatoes served fresh and hot. Although there is little about First Watch that one would call exceptional from a recipe or presentation standpoint, there is still something to be said about well made not too greasy breakfast foods prepared to order and served fresh. In that was First Watch hits the spot every time. Charleston lacks a real breakfast diner culture. First Watch helps fill that gap to some degree, but is still a little sterile and cookie-cutter for the true diner aficionado.

Very traditional, very north American style breakfast and brunch. Chocolate chips pancakes and orange juice are my favorite.

Nice place for Sunday breakfast. Very clean and fresh appearance. Very good coffee served in your own carafe so you're never without. Unique menu offers some very different choices from the norm. Had the chickichimi and the Floridian french toast. Both were very nice and served with fresh fruit. I'd recommend tasting the potatoes before salting them as mine were seasoned well enough to start. I was surprised at the price of the coffee at the end. IMHO, 2.29 a person is quite steep. Will return as the food was a refreshing change. Return visit and experienced a very attentive waitress. Had the Acupulco express omelet and enjoyed it. Coffee is still steep ;)

Great healthy breakfast selection. Good if you don't want something artery-clogging. Convenient to downtown businesses.

Breakfast is the most important meal of the day, right? So, treat yourself. First Watch delivers all the staples of breakfast (and a fair amount of lunch's) alongside some unique combinations -- and at reasonable prices. Their potatoes are delicious, their pancakes are huge and they have my absolute favorite Eggs Benedict. They are often very busy, but I've never had to wait more than 10 minutes for a table, and service is usually snappy. The restaurant always feels very clean. If you can find parking Downtown, First Watch should be first on your list for your morning meal.

What? There's actually decent service in Charleston, WV!? Yes its true--First Watch in Charleston, WV know how to operate a restaurant. Quick service! Friendly waitstaff. Pros: Their potatoes are amazing, along with the salad that comes with each sandwich order. Their big fruit parfait is amazing. Pancakes: be prepare...they are huge! Cons: their hours: open 7am-2:30pm. Avoid peak lunch time (noon!). Location: Downtown Charleston. There's a few meter parking right in front of the restaurant. If not, there is a garage a few stores down from the restaurant.

Good custom house blend coffee. You can purchase a bag to go. Wait staff was nice, but crappy. Stepping into this joint, I felt I had just interrupted a bunch of pubescent teens amidst childish drama. Excuse me while I stand here waiting for the hostess to trade bubble gum flavors with another drama queen. The cranberry nut oatmeal was fantastic. Coffee was great. I'll definitely go back and hope the wait staff have out-grown their bubble gum.

Just the best food and service you'll find. Eat there almost every Sunday, never disappointed!!!

Surprisingly impressed with our breakfast here. After a long wait, we felt that maybe the place had been overhyped. I ordered the fruit crepes and M got the veggie hash. Both were good. Not the best ever, but definitely better than a takeout breakfast from a fast food place (which seems to be the only other option in town).

Love it. Food is always fresh and tasty. Service is friendly, even when it's busy. I like that the menu is changed occasionally. Keeps it interesting. And I really miss it since I've moved to Huntington. PLEASE open one in Huntington.

I have been here a few times and have not been disappointed. I love the burrito Vera Cruz. They must put crack in the sauce. The Greek omelette is delicious, but I have started making it at home. A little pricey for Charleston, but the town needs more places like this. Service is hit-or-miss.

Stopped in for brunch on a Sunday as we were passing through town. Waited about 20 minutes at noontime; not bad. Felt a little underdressed compared to the usual crowd! Large menu with lots of variety. Gluten free menu available - always a plus. Bright, clean restaurant; fast and friendly service from our waitress Hannah. Food was quick, attractive, and delicious. Omelets were fluffy (my only complaint: the avocado in my Bacado was VERY hard), potatoes delicious. Toast and English muffins were yummy. Fresh fruit crepes were great. Tea was freshly brewed. Nice breakfast stop.

  • Junie D.

Tons of menu choices. My dad had eggs, ham, potatoes, english muffin. The slice of ham was so large he couldn't finish it -- looked great. I ordered an omelet -- can't recall the name, but it had bacon, avocado, cheese, with sour cream on top. Delicious! Seasoned potatoes were real potatoes, not frozen, cubed with a bit of onion and not greasy at all. Very tasty meal, great coffee, good service, nice atmosphere. There is some metered street parking and plenty of garage parking at $1/hr.

  • Heather M.

I did like First Watch until the owner, manager, and two servers egged a gentleman's car and verbally assaulted the man for parking in the parking lot. Disgraceful! Wouldn't it have been practical to call a tow service rather than commence in the destruction of property and overall poor behavior? Not an example of behavior that I want to be set for our next generation. I won't be eating there anymore. It's a shame.

This is a great restaurant that specializes in breakfast, brunch, and lunch (they close at 2:30 PM!). The menu is varied, consistent, and the food is excellent. I am very particular about coffee and First Watch makes the grade. Excellent service and atmosphere makes for many happy returns.

  • Jack H.

First Watch is simply the best breakfast/lunch in all of Charleston. Serving the freshest eggs, vegetables, and potatoes are just half of their claim to fame-they also have the friendliest staff of any restaurant in Kanawha County. The food is reasonably priced and usually delicious. For those of us who have grown tired of the same old Bob Evans or IHOP slop First Watch provides a welcome refuge. For all of my hungry people out there, First Watch is for us!

  • Mark B.

Food was really good (some unique flavors and not the usual fare)... pricing reasonable, service was prompt and friendly...oh and free wifi!

  • Claudia S.

I'm giving 5 stars because the food is great! We had the 2 for You and it's was perfect! The beefeater sandwich was made with home made meat. And forget the calories load up on the sauce! Soups are superb. Bread incredibly fresh and soft. Only bad note, location is a little shady and service is mediocre. But please go!

  • Mildred T.

First Watch is my favorite place to eat. It has a great atmosphere, the servers are all nice and friendly and the food is scrumptious! Their Rubens are the best ever and oh my! their carrot cake pancakes are awesome!! Love this place!

  • Aaron T.

lady friend liked the free coffee. I got the breakfast tacos. pretty good though though the price was a tad bit high for what you got. some ingredients are locally sourced, which might help justify the price... On my way to the restroom I peaked into the kitchen: canned beans and more canned goods. Disappointment.

I wasn't feeling too hot, so I didn't try any of the wonderful things I wanted to. Just had a pancake bacon and eggs. Just... yummy! I heard this was a chain, but it doesn't feel like one! Folks are nice. coffee is great! food is great! Going to come back! You can ask for real maple syrup also! Crucial, to me ever eating pancakes!

A healthy, if you choose that route, breakfast option. Croudded during typical times, so be prepared to wait 20 min. Very nice service and a very nice brunch selection.

Decided to have breakfast here as I know how good First Watch is back home in Arizona. The lady at the register was very kind. I was sat shortly after arriving and was greeted by Victoria. She was very kind and I could tell would provide great service. I ordered a cup of coffee and she quickly returned and took my order. My food came out shortly after. All was going well until my second bite... See pictures attached. One nice long hair and one cute small hair. Victoria came over and apologized and was very sincere. She offered another plate. I couldn't do it due to my lack of appetite. In the end I still ended up paying for my 1 cup of coffee weird. I left a small tip just to show my appreciation for the service that I did receive before the incident. It's not her fault the cooks were careless in preparing my food. Long story short. I won't be coming back to this location ever! Inspect your food before diving into it.

You can't go wrong at First Watch. Their pancakes, muffins, and fruit crepes are fantastic sweet options, their savory omelettes and sandwiches just as good. As a vegetarian, I have a hard time choosing what I want because the selection is so great, which is rarely a problem I have while eating out. Personally, I love the Greek Fetish omelette. Their potatoes are also hard to beat

Havent been to a first watch since college. Came with my parents and ordered 3 different things. I'm not a fatty but I thought the portions were poor for the price paid. The flavor was nothing to write home about. Really pretty bland and not worth the cover charge. I would give it 2 stars but didn't want to b mean.

Great place! Felt very traditionally American :) We were passing through on the way from DC to Nashville and stopped in here for breakfast based on yelp reviews so passing it on! Amazing food!! Coffee was good and we had the homemade granola with fruit and yoghurt (good granola is my weakness and this was so good) and we shared some blueberry multi grain pancakes too. Left really full and satisfied!! Service was very fast and friendly. Highly recommend :)

After reading numerous rave reviews on how great the food was, we decided to stop on our long journey home. We tried the eggs benedict Florentine and the market hash. Both were amazing and we were met with fast friendly fabulous wait staff. She even gave us coffees to go. Food is a little pricey but portions are huge but you get what you pay for. We will stop back here again, this will be our go to place for our 11 hour drive halfway point.

I've been across the country and around the world, and this place is about as good as it gets for breakfast. It's in a great downtown location and has free parking just across the street on weekends. The service is attentive and the food is good. I had the Ragin' Cajun omelette and it was top-notch. The restaurant is clean and bright, and everyone seems to be in a better mood after arriving here. If you're in Charleston, WV, I recommend that you make it to First Watch for breakfast.

  • Sarah B.

Delicious!!! They have a lot of different breakfast options (omelets, quinoa bowls, pancakes, waffles, eggs Benedict etc) and they all looked delicious! Everyone at our table left happy even though we all got different things. I had the pumpkin breakfast with pancakes, eggs, and applewood chicken sausage, my husband got one of the omelets, and our friends got French toast and an egg breakfast bowl with avocado. The service was friendly, the food arrived quickly, and the bathrooms were very clean. I like that they have different hot tea options, and the coffee was good too (they also have different flavor creamers). I'd like to try it again for lunch sometime, the salad options looked yummy.

Great breakfast spot in charleston! Awesome menu options, good atmosphere, and the food is delicious! Stays busy, so expect a wait, but certainly worth it.

Incredible! Stopped in Charleston on the trip from Chicago to Charlotte. The menu is fresh with lots of options, the food is excellent (kids and adults loved it) and our server Beverly was wonderful and friendly. We will make this a regular stop whenever we are near Charleston!

Fabulous breakfast! Multigrain blueberry pancakes were delicious! Lots of traditional fare and healthy options too! They also have fresh juice blends- kale tonic was great! Loved the atmosphere and the staff was excellent.

This place is awesome! I had the Parma Hash and it was excellent. It was two eggs over a bed of cheesy potatoes with Italian Sausage & mushrooms and other goodies. They cooked my eggs over medium just like I ordered. I was by myself and they gave me my own carafe of coffee to enjoy. The staff was super nice! And there is a lot across the street you can park in.

  • Ashley B.

My chicken palermo was so good!!!! I would definitely get it again. They put just enough on there so it wasn't falling apart. Fresh juice was a plus. The only thing I would improve on would be the seating, it reminds me of cafeteria style (but that's being nit picky) the food was great and the service was fantastic.

After hearing my co workers rave about this place, I finally decided to give it a go. I got the "Ragin' Cajun" omelette with fried potatoes (home fries as I call it). The Ragin' Cajun is a 3 egg omelette with cajun seasoned chicken, roasted mushrooms, and caramelized onions, served with a "Santa Fe Sauce" on the side. I was a little suspicious of this "Santa Fe Sauce" with a supposed cajun omelette.. But let me tell you, it was FANTASTIC. Nice creaminess and general spicy flavor that was a great accompaniment. Its kind of a nondescript spicy mayo based sauce. It lends big flavor to the omelette without ruining the cajun moniker. The caramelized onions and roasted mushrooms were absolutely phenomenal in this omelette. The chicken was a little dry, but well spiced and flavorful. The egg was great! No burnt spots on it at all. I absolutely hate sitting down to an omelette at Bob Evan's or other big name spots and finding all kinds of that nasty brown crunchiness. One of the biggest reasons I go to Bob Evan's for breakfast is home fries. I absolutely love them. Well, First Watch, you BLEW IT OUT of the park on these. Big chunks of potato, delicious caramel-y onions, and fantastic seasoning make them the best home fries I've ever had. The english muffins were great as well. Perfectly toasted. Not dry or chewy. I was dismayed to find out they were GFC branded, but delicious none the less. The restaurant itself is quite small, but well lit and very well decorated. It was packed to the gills when I got there but still didn't have to wait for a table. Service was fantastic. Quick service. Waitress was very friendly and attentive. All in all, I will definitely make a return trip.

Open on Sunday. Open starting at 7. Both of these factors made First Watch the obvious choice for our early rising girls and consequently "hangry" and uncaffeinated parents. Things started off very well. Our toddler was antsy and whiny and the servers brought out two little fresh fruit cups to tide her over. The food was simple and came out fast. I was not bowled over by the breakfast options - this is the type of place that has smuckers "jam" in little plastic containers and flavored creamer for coffee) but what we ordered (eggs, waffle, bacon, sausage, potatoes) was solidly prepared and relatively inexpensive. Five plus stars for our server who was kind, efficient, and attentive. I highly recommend this place for families.

Get the pancakes! I cannot stress the above sentence enough. I honestly think this was the best pancake I've ever had in my entire life! Maybe I should back up. My fiance's sister told us about this place and how we really needed to try it out. We were only in Charleston for one more day, but she hyped it up so much that I wanted to try it. There is only street parking, but it was pretty easy to find an open meter and honestly Charleston parking is incredibly cheap (a quarter for 30 minutes!). We walked inside and found a well lit, open restaurant. The colors were cheery and there was tons of space. This is definitely a place that has regulars, because the moment we sat down our server asked us if we knew what we wanted. After a quick glance at the menu we decided we would need a lot more time to decide! I ended up getting the Tri Athlete and a Bacon and Cheddar Pancake. Before I came I looked online at the nutritional information of the Tri Athlete and thought that it wouldn't be terribly filling so I should get a pancake as well. Boy was I wrong! When my plate came out I realized I wouldn't finish everything. The omelet was amazing. It came with homemade salsa, which was absolutely delicious. I really like their menu of healthy choices (although everything seems rather healthy in comparison to many other restaurant options). Then the pancake arrived. It was huge! I could have just eaten the pancake for breakfast. And it was love at first bite. A little bit sweet, nice crispy edges, and a great flavor of bacon and cheddar. I am still craving it and I'm back in Florida! So run don't walk to try their pancakes! I will come back every time I'm in Charleston

I stopped in while traveling through WV (thanks Yelp) and ordered the shrimp and grits with andouille sausage. The menu had many things that I would have loved to try. The place was very clean including the bathrooms. I sat at the breakfast bar and really enjoyed the fast and courteous service. The food was very good. I lived in New Orleans for many years and the meal wasn't quite up to NOLA shrimp and grits standards (grits were slightly runny), thus I give the place 4 stars. If I could do 4.5 stars, I would. I definitely recommend this restaurant!

  • Brendan H.

This is a great establishment with amazing service and even better food. Get anything over hash. The food comes out lightning fast with great precision. I have had a lot of good eggs and hash but this one tops them all. Also, some of the best sweet tea I've had. Given the option I'd buy it by the gallon. This is the place to come, especially after church on Sunday. If you can't handle waiting in line for a meal at First Watch then there is something seriously wrong with you. It's worth it.

Even though most of the stuff is canned or pre-packaged in some form, it is still pretty good. We haven't been back, though, ever since they changed their potatoes to a less appetizing kind. Their potatoes were the sole reason my wife loved to eat there.

Best breakfast chain. This is Bob Evan's without all the country cooking. They have very unique dishes that would appeal to foodies. However the ingredients weren't the greatest, on our trip there. The avocados and tomatoes weren't ripe enough. Go here for a good breakfast.

Breakfast was great! I had the Belgium waffle with fruit compote with turkey sausage. My husband has the fruit crepes that he really liked. Another member of our family had the Parmesan hash. The place is contemporary, lively and the wait staff was great. I will return when back in Charleston.

I love love First Watch. We went out of our way to go downtown to visit this one while traveling home to WNY. I love the crepes with fresh fruit and granola and like to take the muffin with me for the road. I hope that First Watch comes to Western New York or Southern Ontario sometime soon

  • Evan W.

Creative and tasty breakfast, had some good meals there. They lose a star though because they consistently serve unripe Avocado. Please explain to your chef it must be soft or it ain't ready to serve. Otherwise, this place deserves the good reviews.

Wow! What a terrific find in downtown Charleston. There are not a lot of Sunday breakfast options, and we were staying at a hotel nearby and were totally underwhelmed with the hotel's "complimentary breakfast." We got there at about 9:15am and the place was packed. There was about a 15 minute wait, but they do provide complimentary coffee while you wait. I had a belgian waffle and bacon --- it was terrific. I could live without the upcharge for "pure maple syrup", but it was worth the extra $1.25. My companions had bacon and cheddar pancakes and pecan pancakes --- both excellent. The coffee is nice and strong and piping hot. Service was quick but not rushed considering the line outside. Overall, definitely worth dragging yourself out of bed on the weekends -- or any morning.

First of all they serve breakfast all day (that's a huge plus). The prices are reasonable and the food is very good. They also have many healthier options all of which are delicious. If you're looking for a good breakfast you should definitely consider First Watch.

Went to First Watch because of high reviews on Yelp. Was not disappointed. Service was prompt and excellent. I went with the veggie omelette and it was quite good. The veggies were crisp and eggs were fluffy. Our waiter had a quick wit and was very personable which made our experience all the more enjoyable. My five friends were all delighted with their orders which included fried eggs, pancakes, bacon, waffles, etc. we pretty much tried it all and came away impressed with the service and the food.

This is a four-star restaurant except they lose one star for not properly wiping down the tables and benches, sticky and crumbs at every table we walked by including the one we sat in. Daughter had choc chip pancakes, very good and very large. I had the bacon hash with two eggs. They hash was ok, very salty but had decent flavor. Good strong coffee. They had a huge selection of weird hash dishes but no corned-beef hash. Get rid of one of the funky hashes and add corned-beef. Good service. Worth coming back to.

I was in the midst of a week-long road trip for work, and I needed something healthy and fresh to revive me a bit. First Watch was just what I needed. Although I'm not naive enough to think that First Watch is as healthy as they want you to think, I left feeling full, but not full and disgusting like you do leaving some places. I had a 1/2 sandwich and 1/2 salad combo, both of which were really good. I liked how you were able to pick from a variety of specialty salads as your side. If you've never been to First Watch, think of it as a more expensive Panera with a much larger breakfast selection. Although I'd prefer the counter-ordering at Panera, I was very impressed with the quality of First Watch.

I love this place but hardly ever get over there. Had a stressful appointment downtown with my teenage daughter so took her there prior. The wait staff is always so kind, the meal was good, the atmosphere is nice and positive and helped our moods tremendously. Any place that can even make a 16 year old girl calm down and relax and enjoy a delicious breakfast is tops.

Incredible! Stopped in Charleston on the trip from Chicago to Charlotte. The menu is fresh with lots of options, the food is excellent (kids and adults loved it) and our server Beverly was wonderful and friendly. We will make this a regular stop whenever we are near Charleston!

Fabulous breakfast! Multigrain blueberry pancakes were delicious! Lots of traditional fare and healthy options too! They also have fresh juice blends- kale tonic was great! Loved the atmosphere and the staff was excellent.

Even though most of the stuff is canned or pre-packaged in some form, it is still pretty good. We haven't been back, though, ever since they changed their potatoes to a less appetizing kind. Their potatoes were the sole reason my wife loved to eat there.

Surprisingly impressed with our breakfast here. After a long wait, we felt that maybe the place had been overhyped. I ordered the fruit crepes and M got the veggie hash. Both were good.

Fabulous breakfast! Multigrain blueberry pancakes were delicious! Lots of traditional fare and healthy options too! They also have fresh juice blends- kale tonic was great! Loved the atmosphere and the staff was excellent.

This restaurant is a great go-to for people who live and work downtown. I can honestly say I've never eaten anything bad there. I have been a loyal patron since they opened, and will continue to return!

Even though most of the stuff is canned or pre-packaged in some form, it is still pretty good. We haven't been back, though, ever since they changed their potatoes to a less appetizing kind. Their potatoes were the sole reason my wife loved to eat there.

If you like frilly over priced food and attemps at being trendy this is your place. If you are looking for breakfast that will last until noon and is more comfort food then showy look some where else. I have a client who loves the place so I make required visits.

I love love First Watch. We went out of our way to go downtown to visit this one while traveling home to WNY. I love the crepes with fresh fruit and granola and like to take the muffin with me for the road. I hope that First Watch comes to Western New York or Southern Ontario sometime soon
