My boyfriend and I had the nicest weekend here on our way out to CA, and I just had to come back and say so. Our room was really gorgeous, as was the rest of the house - the hosts did a wonderful job on the restoration. The food was great, Bob and David were lovely, our suite was beautiful and a fantastic value. The photos don't do it justice. Plus, monkey bread to go! You won't be disappointed here - just a wonderful spot to explore Charlestown from.

28 Bradford Street Bed & Breakfast is in a beautifully restored Victorian house in Charleston, West Virginia. David and Bob are helpful. The breakfast was very tasty and filling. David also made cinnamon buns that he packed up for day three of our motorcycle road trip. The bed was great, the claw foot tub nice for a soak and the room was bigger and nicer than the pictures on the website. Be warned, outside of regular business hours, the downtown core is a ghost town. Luckily we found a great Mexican restaurant that was open.

My girlfriend and I recently visited Charleston. Our stay at 28 Bradford Street was great. We stayed in the Diana room, which was large and comfortable. We picked that room since we were not going to be at the house very much, but I also saw the Teddy Roosevelt Suite which had a sitting room. I would recommend that room if you are planning to stay in some. David was a great host. The breakfast both mornings was delicious. If I lived in Charleston, I would check into a monthly rate just for breakfast. There was fresh coffee and snacks available at all times. The house is convienently located within walking distance to downtown, the civic center, clay center and the capital building complex. I would definiltely recommend a stay at 28 Bradford Street to anyone planning to visit the Charleston area. It certainly made our stay more memorable.

Great hosts, great food, great location, and a nice comfy bed. This is a perfect place to stay in Charleston. It's a restored Victorian house (you can look through the photo album to see the work that had to be done to get it to its current state) and it's pink!! We stayed in the Diana room which was lovely and surprisingly spacious. The bed was really comfortable and we slept well. The breakfast was a vegetarian fritatta and monkey bread (it's like sticky buns with the slightest orange flavor). The leftover monkey bread was packed up to take with us. And considering the 10 hour drive we had that day, it made a great lunch and dinner and snack. We also walked along the river that morning to see the city which was quite lovely in its fall colors and sunshine. This B&B would probably be an easy enough walk to downtown or the capitol. The next stop we make in Charleston will be sure to include this B&B!

All of the previous reviewers have pretty much hit it on the nose. My husband and I had a fantastic experience at 28 Bradford - comfortable room, beautiful house with charming surroundings, extremely hospitable and helpful host, lovely breakfast. And great value for the price! We will definitely stay here again next time we come to Charleston.

Here is the deal if you're not familiar with B&B's - there are three types. First, the modern, maybe it's just an extra room in the house type place where you eat with the people who live there. Second, there is the themed B&B - the dolphin room, mermaid room, etc. etc. Finally there is the restored Victorian with lots of antiques and a few of those paintings where the eyes always seem to be looking right at you no matter where you are. 28 Bradford represents the latter, but in the best ways possible. It's a restored home that once belonged to the sheriff in the late 1800's (built in 1892). There are certainly antiques, but nothing over the top - tasteful, historic, and comfortable. The Roosevelt suite was spacious and comfortable - spacious is usually easy in older homes like this, for comfortable - not always. The wrap around porch is key, as after a long day of walking the city it was perfect for lounging and reading a good book. Breakfasts were great - eggs with fresh veggies and herbs and fantastic baked goods. No one is messing around when they talk about the monkey bread, and David and Bob were happy to pack it up for you. Our hosts were also extremely friendly and happy to sit down and chat if you'd like, or if you're into having privacy that would be fine too. I think that it was the hospitality that really did it for us. Everything about the place was very nice, but they were just really great to us and we really enjoyed the conversations we'd have over breakfast about local history, things to do, the coal industry and its marriage to local culture - whatever. As far as I can tell there are only a couple of B&Bs in downtown Charleston, and this is definitely a place you should check out if you're in the mood for a relaxing, pleasant, and comforting experience. We wouldn't hesitate to return next time we're in town.

Loved it! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay! The house is amazing. The decor and furniture were perfectly dated to the era of the home. We stayed in the Teddy Roosevelt Suite with a sitting room and a bedroom. The sitting room was very comfortable with a couch and other furniture that made you feel you were living in the 19th century. The bed was in the rounded corner of the room surrounded by windows (with curtains for the morning sun). We slept good! Bob welcomed us to the house and was very friendly. We talked a lot about the house and the local area. He recommended a local restaurant which was really good. In the evening he offered to light an outdoor fire pit for us, but we were too tired. Breakfast was DELICIOUS!!! David put together a good mix of food and everything tasted great. Fresh berries to start. A veggie frittata which was excellent. And my favorite was the sweet bread with a hint of cinnamon and orange. There was a lot of bread leftover and David packed it for us to take on the road. Very nice! If we are ever back in Charleston we will definitely stay at 28 Bradford again.

The 28 Bradford Street B&B was a lovely stay! Kudos to Bob and David. The rooms are lovely and nicely furnished. I loved the claw foot tub. Delightful breakfast. Yes, the Monkey Bread is awesome and the fritata superb. Bed and breakfasts are such a great way to go. We stayed in the Diana and found it spacious. Also. . . a shout out to the Bluegrass Kitchen. It's a short drive away and a perfect compliment to 28 B Street.
