Italian Cuisine
The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.
Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.
If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.

It honestly doesn't get any better... anywhere. I have eaten there for twenty years. The five years I lived in FL I missed and craved Rocco's. I now live 2 blocks away! The only reason I don't eat there five days a week is I would weigh 500 pounds. I promise you everything on the menu is delicious! Wherever you live it is worth the drive!!! Lucky me, I can just walk!

This is clearly a local favorite. It was highly recommended by locals, and it was packed on a week night. The atmosphere was great. The staff and "regulars" had a good rapport. As for the food, it was fine. The bread was average, served with cold, hard butter packets. The side salad had basic greens with too much dressing. The ravioli was good, however, it was floating in the cream sauce - and I did not order soup. All in all, a good experience but the food is average.

We've been coming here for forty years looking for a bad plate. So far, no luck. Forty years!

By far the best Lasagna I've ever had! I'm Italian and from NY (visiting WV) so you know my opinion is legit. You won't be sorry. Enjoy!

This place has amazing Italian food. I got Fruit of the Sea, that has a mixture of shrimp, scallops and muscle on a hairy spaghetti. All pieces of this meal were gigantic in size. I liked the taste. I tried their deserts - a chocolate browny cake, but it was okay but would not do again. Environment is quiet and cozy. Meals are average to high price. I would definitely come back again.

This is most certainly the best restaurant in the Tristate area and in my opinion the best restaurant I've ever been to (even better than those in Italy itself). If you take into account the live sax band, beautiful interior, gorgeous full bar, and huge wine selection; along with the massive portions, reasonable prices, experienced wait staff, and, of course, unparalleled flavors that they offer I just don't see how you can come to any different conclusion. Rocco's is simply the best. Granted, I worked here for 4 years, so I may be biased. But if you've ever worked somewhere before, you probably know that you don't usually adore that place when you leave. And I don't necessarily, from an employment perspective, but from the perspective of a patron I certainly do. I've had the pleasure of sampling every single appetizer, entree, special, and dessert that is offered here, and they all are just absolutely fantastic. Go, and order your staple dish that you order anywhere else. I bet Rocco's has a better version of it. Then go and try something you don't normally have. I bet you'll have a new favorite dish. Keep going until you've tried everything here. I promise you won't regret it. Oh, and another thing that I actually love about Rocco's. Despite the fact that they would certainly be classified as a fine dining establishment, they have no dress code, they don't take reservations, and their portions will feed you for two or more meals. These are qualities that not many other fine restaurants can claim, and these are qualities that make Rocco's uniquely West Virginian.

I've only been once, but it was one of my favorite dishes in the Huntington area. They put a lot of focus on the experience - from live music to a fantastic atmosphere.
(5)Chazz H.
I have nothing but good things to say about Rocco's. I moved to Youngstown several years ago, which has a huge Italian population, and nothing here even comes close. I gladly make the 4 1/2 hour drive knowing I get to go to Rocco 's.
(5)Michael P.
Romantic atmosphere for a special dinner. This place is a gem of a place to eat with one caveat, price. No doubt, the food and service are great...but I have eaten great meals like this in large cities that are a little bit cheaper in price. The pasta dishes are the best on the menu, and deserts worth the drive. Could be a little bit less expensive than it is, but I am still pleased to go through anytime that I am in the Tri-State.

This is a favorite restaurant of my family, so while in town, we dined here. My dad ordered the mushroom appetizer which he said was absolutely perfect, followed by the spaghetti which he also said was wonderful. My mom ordered a pasta dish which she enjoyed, and I had the salmon which was delicious. Love the atmosphere of the restaurant, cozy with nice decor. Awesome food and wine at a fair price, would definitely come back!

We LOVE Rocco's! We have been here multiple times and always try to go when we visit Huntington. I always get the same thing, lasagna. It is the best I've ever tried. Rocco's has a sauce that I've never tasted before anywhere else. They also have the best house dressing for your salad. The price is reasonable for what you're getting: salad, bread and entree. The atmosphere is very cozy and you can tell a local family owns it. Our waitress was wonderful and very attentive. The owner's wife even stopped by to say hello.

This was my first time at Rocco's and I went in with an expectation of eating good Italian food in Huntington, and that is what I got, good Italian food in Huntington. This is not to be confused with good Italian food in general. Before we get into food, lets start with service. I have read the reviews and most talk about the fabulous service, I just didn't see it. Our waitress was friendly, no doubt about that, but she would go missing quite often. I don't ever rank on service (unless it was atrocious), because in the end the food is what matters. What really matter, the food. We started with the sausage patties with red sauce. The sauce was flavorful, though a little sweet for me, but the paddy was just okay. The patty was way to tough, not tender at all, but did have a fine taste to it and with a little kick. I had the Gnocchi, it was ehhh. The meat sauce (weird to begin with to be served with gnocchi) was just red sauce with ground beef (if it was sausage I didn't taste it) and was average. The meatballs were tender but didn't have much taste and they were just ground beef meatballs, not the traditional pork, beef and veal variety. My wife had the lasagna which wasn't bad. The sausage was flavorful and the sauce was better than the meat sauce that came with my gnocchi. All in all it was a solid meal, but nothing to rave about. Would I go back next time I was in the Huntington area, sure, but I may try and find another place. Also to note, the portions are pretty darn good and that is always a plus when you are stuck in a hotel room surrounded by nothing but nasty drive-thru. Always a plus to have left overs. Also, some people talked about it being expensive... Really? Two entrees, an appetizer, two beers and a glass of wine for $52.89 before tip. I would recommend Rocco's to someone I know who isn't from the area looking for a solid meal.

We drive 50 miles each way just to eat at Rocco's. I don't think I need say anything else.

My husband and I were on our way to Williamsburg, VA......We were on the road for a few days as we are from Lafayette, Louisiana. I looked on Yelp for a restaurant and found Rocco's. We read the reviews and decided to stop for dinner. This is definitely a diamond in the rough, the best Italian food I have had in a long time, the service is great and loved the atmosphere. The owner and his daughter work in the restaurant, so you get the personal touch. I recommend anyone new to the area to stop in and eat a really good dinner. I have to say after eating and drinking a few glasses of wine, I did not want to get back in my vehicle and drive.........oops, I wasn't driving.....my husband was driving! Karen Lafayette, Louisiana
(5)Jim R.
A native of Ceredo area this is a true diamond in the rough. WV is not known for good places to eat but this is the exception. A+ all the way from the moment you walk in. This place could hang in LA , NYC or any big city. Stands the test of time. Rocco is a wonderful man with great food that never disappoints IT is worth the drive from Huntington...
(5)Jene J.
Excellent food! Service was good. We had the veal parm and fettecine alfredo with crab meat. Would recommend this place to anyone.
(5)P M A.
We love, love Rocco's! This is our "go to" restaurant for celebrations or just a great meal. Rocco's has never disappointed us or our family and friends. The spaghetti is tops and the lasagna is, too. When our daughter comes into town from Florida, she loves Rocco's salmon! The staff is like family and will never steer you wrong. They also have a wide, good house wine selection. AND they are not closed (except for Mondays!).
(5)Marcus M.
I've only had it once that I had bad service here, but I'm rating on the food. Overall it has a great atmosphere. It's kinda pricey, so don't expect a check in the $40.00 with tip. I am Italian, so I agree that this place is the place to be when it comes to authentic food and/or taking a HOT date. That is, if you're willing to pay.
(5)Kelsi P.
If this were a restaurant anywhere else, it would have received one or two stars. However, being in Huntington, West Virginia, it seems to be a bit of a highlight to some. It seemed quite popular, and they have a menu with a variety of Italian dishes. I asked for vegetarian spinach, and they gladly obliged, without too much difficulty. My friend got some chicken dish which was way too big. She didn't eat a third of it. She didn't seem to care for it. My spinach raviolis were okay, though my one comment is that it seemed about as good as something I would make with ingredients from Trader Joes. We paid about twice as much as we would have like to pay for food of this quality. but it wasn't terrible. Notably, we went with a group of 10, and the waitress gladly split the bill 10 ways. This surprised me.
(3)Ryan S.
As far as food goes in Huntington, WV, this is one of the top 3 (the other two being Savannah's and The Black Hawk). It's one of the only restaurants in town that serve half-portions. I've never had a bad meal, and have actually adapted to a technique of simply opening the menu and ordering whatever my eyes fall on first. You can't go wrong here--it really is delicious. The staff is very attentive, and the atmosphere is very romantic, although you're likely to see families stroll in with their kids because this is a "nice place" in the middle of a pretty backwards town. Nevertheless, if you're looking for a romantic place for a date, or some pricey, delicious Italian food, this is the place to go. Can't recommend it enough.
(5)Missy M.
This is my favorite restaurant in WV!! Rocco's is worth the 40 minute drive from Charleston and is my pick for birthdays, anniversaries, places to go on days ending in -y. When doing Italian, I stick with the usual suspects - spaghetti, lasagna, etc - and Rocco's delivers. You can get 1/2 portions of a lot of the menu items but if you've got leftovers you'll enjoy them just as much. I generally go with about 5-6 others and their palates are more adventurous and everything everyone has tried is delicious. I don't do dessert (they have limoncello!) but those who have at Rocco's love them. The service is top notch - we've been going for about 5 years and see many of the same staff (that says something great about the restaurant and the owner). They don't take reservations so we usually get there on a Saturday or Sunday at 5pm when they open - it fills up fast with good reason.

Rocco's is a Huntington/Cabell Co.institution, and deserves its place as the go-to restaurant for special occasions. Excellent menu, fantastic food, great service.
