Passing through the area on business trip and staying in nearby hotel. This is about the Hibachi dinner. Didn't give 5 stars because of the general appearance of the restaurant. It's a bit dated but not too bad. Food: Had the combination dinner Filet Mignon and Chicken. Excellent food, tasty and well prepared. Chef: Friendly and caring, just as it's supposed to be. Observed several other chefs, each of them seemed to do it there own way, some funny. All of them looked like they enjoy their job. Waitress Ashley: Very friendly and attentive, makes you feel welcome. All together: positive experience in an area with many restaurants (but most of them have bad reviews on yelp). Will come here again if in the area next time.

Cook put on a great show while preparing our meal. There was 9 of us and he kept all entertained. Both food and cocktails were well priced and well seasoned. Worth the visit.

The best thing about this place is Jenny! She always makes us delicious treats- like tuna pokes and this new thing that's some sort of lime jalapeño roll. I suggest the Fuji roll or the J&J roll.

Great food. Near hotels and I-77. Prefer! I make this a regular stop when traveling in the area.

Fujiyama is good, especially considering the location. I think it's pretty much impossible to screw up habachi, so I'll talk about the sushi. Depending on the crowd sometimes I get it before, during, or after the habachi show. Sometimes the waitresses bring free salad and soup if you're only getting sushi but the rest of your party is getting habachi. Anyway, it's fresh and delicious. My only gripe is the lack of very artful display that I've seen at other restaurants, which really doesn't matter. I love visiting with friends or large groups.

Note: This review is for the hibachi experience and now their regular dining option. Food: We ordered the steak hibachi with rice and the chicken hibachi with noodles. With that you get a salad, some soup, rice or noodles, veggies, and your choice of meat. The salad was small but tasty. The soup was so-so as far as soups go. The rice and noodles were delicious but salty. I love salty food so it was great for me, but if your tastes are different then you might have a different opinion. The vegetables were delicious. The steak and chicken were both good. Service: We were seated as soon as we arrived and started eating within minutes. It doesn't get much better than that. Drinks: We drank hot green tea and Japanese beer. Ambiance: Somewhat strange - the entrance to the restaurant has some interesting wooden furniture. Then we passed by a small pond with fish in it, then into the dining area. It seemed like we were walking through different venues on our way to eat. Other Notes: Overall the food was quite good and we left stuffed, with leftovers for later. The real gem of this meal we had was our chef at the hibachi table. I believe his name was Ricky but I'm not positive. He was engaging, joked around, and just made the meal pleasurable and entertaining. I would recommend you give this place a shot if you're in the mood for hibachi.

NOTE: This review is only for the food. The service was definitely good. Arriving in from out of town, we had decided to stop somewhere with good Asian food. The atmosphere walking in is uninviting and almost eerie. We were seated by very polite staff, and led to the hibachi grill, still an awkward mood, no music playing, and many empty grills. Our orders were taken by a very polite waitress. We got the steak with rice, and the chicken with noodles. After a few minutes we received salads and soups, the soup was decent, and flavorful. The salad, however was basically iceberg lettuce and an almost insane amount of what seemed to be a sweeter thousand island dressing. A few minutes later, the hibachi chef came out with a cart with all the things we ordered and started cooking/entertaining (throwing food into peoples mouths, etc.) All fun and good, vegetables were tasty, rice was decent, so was the steak. Cheap cut of meat, but decent marinade. The chicken was drenched in a teryaki syrup, and the noodles tasted like someone poured Aunt Jemima's over them. The sushi was decent, but also pretty americanized. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone trying to get a "taste of Japan." That being said, all of the food was flavorful, and the chef was skilled and entertaining. Also, out of all of the americanized Japanese food I have eaten, this is by far the most American. All sizzle, no steak.

I was in town on business and craving a change in food. The food was good. Portion size was really large.

He said: We actually had a reception here. Place had a slightly off smell that day, but last time we went was fine. Chefs have varying levels of skill, yes, you'll get the volcano and flying shrimp. No, you won't get sherbet at the end for free. She has been going to this place for years, so read hers. One pet peeve, The chef used his spatula to shove waste down the waste chute on the grill - I'd like to think they clean that chute and the spatula was fine, but, uh. She said: Hibachi grills vary with the cooks, of course. I have to say that Fujiyama is probably the most consistent hibachi grill I've been to. The food is always seasoned nicely and the portions are generous. They also have a sushi bar, a regular dining room (for those who would just like to order off the menu), and a full-service bar.

The staff here is pretty nice...however the food not so much. First of all, the place looks like they are still going thru some reorganizing. It has potential based on the inside space and decor. The inside was also pretty dark..it was 2pm in the afternoon, so I didn't understand why "it was so freaking dark in there. Maybe it was part of the ambiance they wee "trying" to create...anyways... I came in for lunch and ordered the salmon (fried rice, salad, soup). The salmon was very overcooked...the fried rice smelled and tasted "fishy" and unfresh. The soup was good and so was the salad(the 2nd time). The first time they brought me the salad it was drenched in dressing! The waitress was nice about bringing me a new salad. Now, maybe I'm biased because I'm from the westcoast...but this place would definitely be a NO-GO in Cali. Bleh.

This place was alright, none of the chefs stood out to me, as usual limited english. (Not saying poor english is bad but they didn't even try!) As a hibachi chef you need to be outgoing and have a personality...but I remember we did have one very cheerful waitress. I came here a couple times, pretty consistent, other then the different styles of cooking from each chef. I usually got the scallops with rice and noodles, sometimes the steak or chicken was ok. I wasn't impressed by the shrimp, and no Ramun! (japanese soda). ALL their sushi was bland except the Fire something Mexican roll which had jalapenos, it was good...but if it weren't for the jalapenos, it'd be as bland as the others! House soup was decent as well as the salad. Great for kids though- they love it here.

First of all there's no steak here, so I don't know what they were smoking when they came up with the name. Second of all for the low quality sushi they serve here, they sure charge a pretty steep price. I have to say, if you are from the west coast or have had better sushi, they place is a total disappointment. With that said, the sushi here is not fresh. They get my authentic vote for have sushi size same to ones in Japan, that is tiny. Well, I guess it's still good that there's a place to eat sushi here. Not too many options here.

Me and my girlfriend go here about once a month for sushi. It is wonderful and the plates always come out looking different and beautiful.

Ordered their house specialty steak (imperial). Cost $24. It had no discernible taste... Not even seasoning. Very chewy. Big disappointment.

Fujiyamas is pretty fantastic Japanese fair as far as west Virginia goes. The sushi is nothing short of excellent, and the ambience and wait staff are up to par with what one would expect when paying what you do. I have been in twice, both times for dinner. The Fujiyama special and samurai special are both very good. The only complaint is the sauce they put on the lobster tails. It's very good, just a bit overpowering. I would recommend stopping in when you're in the area, and willing to spend $15 to $36 per plate.
